I have a T-Mobile MDA Touch 256 (HTC Elfin 300) which I'm using on a Pay-as-you-Go with T-Mobile UK. Whenever I check my phone's recent usage online via "My T-Mobile" I note that every 7-15 minutes it has made a quick data connection for which I get charged for between 1 and 3KB or 1-3 pence. Here's a sample:

I have gone through every setting on the phone's programs I can find to ensure nothing is automatically connecting. Have checked email accounts (all set to manual connect only), Weather & Currency utilities (again set to manual updates only).... but just cannot find what is causing these automated connects. It's driving me crazy!!

Only way I can find to prevent this happening is to go into the Touch's Comm Manager and switch off the "Data Connection" option, but it seems that the phone automatically switches that back on again after a short interval

Can anyone suggest what it might be that's making these repeated quick data connections, and how I can stop it - or how I can keep the phones data connection option off when I don't need it?

(By the way, I don't want to disable data connection permanently, as I do need to occasionally be able to check my email from the phone when travelling).

Cheers

I use MoDaCo NoData - and enable the data connection only when I am requiring the data connection via GPRS.

Sorry, you've lost me :( I'm non techy.

What is "MoDaCo NoData"??

Is that a setting or some code I should enter somewhere in my phone? If so, would appreciate clarification, thanks.

Install this app and do what I've written. To check which apps are connecting, install Spb Wireless Monitor 3. Maybe HTC Home's weather?

Thanks gronostaj. I installed Schap's Advanced Configuration Tool and can now turn off data connection to stop the unwanted connections. As per your recommendation I also installed Spb Wireless Monitor 3 but it did not give me a sufficient breakdown of the exact program that was connecting. Think it just said "system" or something similar which was no help.

Anyway, with Schap's Advanced Configuration Tool I can now control this issue, so thanks again :)
