Great App, very fast and good looking:
2 Suggestions:
- easier way to transfer the files from PC to PPC - for example per shortcut in the right-click menu (instead of "copy and paste", "Send to Remote Touch")
- the fullscreen keyboard is ok, but my preference would be a keyboard where I can see what I am writing ;)

For me these would be a great improvement

is there such app? (control my pc with bluetooth or at least something like universal remote using bluetooth)

Works great with my tilt. I troubleshooted for a sec figuring the configs out and here is my experience...

Originally, it connected/ran fine but only while connected thru usb-activesync or wifi pointing to 192.168.100. It would not establish thru gprs or hsdpa (obvious enough, right:rolleyes:)

Then, I read a little closer. I enabled port-forwarding as instructed. I am still maintaining dynamic ip assigned internet so i utilized the no-ip software and setup a static host here. I adjusted url in setup to point to that static host and can now access the pc thru gprs (i must still activate the internet connect first i.e., by clicking and updating weather or any other internet stimulant app) but WOW!! Seems faster than RDM

However, I can only get connection properly thru gprs while first having McAfee set to open firewall protection. I tried setting permissions for 192.168.1 ranges but no luck. Only successful thru gprs when mcafee firewall set wide open. Once, RemoteTouch session started and established, I can then change the firewall settings back to say trusting, but cannot restart remotetouch with firewall less than wide open. (something obvious im missing? like before)

I love the app and would like to demonstrate but wish not to leave my firewall wide open any tips on how this is accomplished?

And thank you big time Mr. Sanjay Thomas. :D

Yes I want to allow both the standard SIP as well as my keyboard in future releases.
I will eventually add a menu item in windows explorer to copy and paste (this is low in my list of features at the moment though).

Glad you like it the software.
I don't use McAfee but should be able to allow traffic through port 3230.
Are you using Windows Firewall also ?

You can use any internet connection, WiFi or ... usb, although I've yet to figure the use of using Remote Touch through a USB wire. :)

I have one question though: Is there a way to make it work for secondary display as well? In a dual-display environment RemoteTouch shows only the primary display.

so how would you connect to a non static ip address of a computer on a wireless router...the ip would change anytime you power cycled the (in my case) cable modem or refreshed/renewed in ipconfig

would you have to change the ip address in the ppc program as the ip changed on the pc or is there a way to monitor any changes made and adjust accordingly?

no dice...

any suggestions?

sounds like u are accessing ur computers ip since it works thru usb...try the suggestion to get no-ip to setup a static host..

this is the post that helped me access. i remember going thru the steps...first i was thinking it wouldn't work bc i got no response, then applied some of the installation steps trying to follow to a closer 't'...first worked thru usb....more configs then it worked thru wifi...used the no-ip and finally figured i needed to setup a static host thru the acct.....able to get thru over GPRS once mcafee trust settings opened up all the way

a few things tho, i had to connect to weather or email right before running the prgm...and also soft resets were sometimes necessary as the program sometimes hung with my phone...might be different tho with your configs...but overall i loved it and found it to be super-responsive and fast...

thanks again Mr. Sanjay for a great prgm!!

Notice: Connect to your PC from anywhere using Remote Touch.
Just clarifying that Remote Touch lets you connect to your server PC from anywhere as long as your mobile have either WiFi access, GPRS, EDGE, 3G, ED-VO or anything other internet connection. Obviously your PC also needs to be accessible anywhere on internet as well.

I can only give a basic guide (not very detailed) as the steps really depend on each person.

1. If you use a router, you need to enable "port forwarding" to allow traffic from outside your router through to your Remote Touch Server machine port (Port 3230 unless you changed it from the default). Searching on google and using your router name & model should get some useful results.
; I enabled port forwarding, but my google search to setup port forwarding recommending changing to static ip. This was tough with my network and carrier and I believe the reason for steps 3/4.

(So you need to setup your router so that all traffic coming in at port 3230 needs to go to your Remote Touch Server machine's local ip address. (i.e the IP address you see in the INSTALL.BAT file).
; which i believe is 192.168.1.1 thru most routers

2. You may need to configure your firewall(s) to allow this traffic from outside your PC.
; I had to open McAfee and set ALL the way to OPEN trust

3. I recommend using a free DNS agent like No-IP (http://www.no-ip.com/services/managed_dns/free_dynamic_dns.html) (there should be other free ones too). Just go to their website and register. It is really straight forward, they will detect your external IP address.

4. You will also need to download and [B]install their DNS client (http://www.no-ip.com/downloads.php) on your Remote Touch Server machine, so no-ip always knows your machine's current external IP address.
; which establishes a site that produces ur static ip u will access over GPRS or w/e way u talk to web

5. Once you have your DNS name (e.g. xxxxx.no-ip.biz) you can use that and enter it into your Remote Touch phone when it is connected to the internet (using either WiFi access, GPRS, EDGE, 3G, ED-VO or anything other internet connection) as shown below.
; which required me to connect by first checking email or weather just before prgm launch

Once you set this up, you don't have to do any of this again !!
If you got this working, congratulations !
If you have questions, email me at remote.touch@gmail.com.

Great APP!! Your app made my month!

Couple problems for you to check out - I use S2U2 and this app want to be on top of S2U2 so when the phone is turned off or turns off, when I turn it back on, RT shows up instead of S2U2.

Also when I am transferring a file from PC to phone, if the turn off time event happens before the transfer finishes, the server disconnects and does not finish the transfer - you need to keep the phone on by maybe faking a mouse click or keyboard event every 10 secs or so..

THANKS!

For dynamic ip i use DynDns (dyndns.com) which is free, this will allow you to get a dns name pointing to your last known IP. You can either setup your router (mine is a linksys and has an option to work with dyndns), or use DirectUpdate, a shareware software running as service that connects to dyndns and sends your ip everytime it changes.

Help Required:
I'm actually pretty new to WM phone development. (this is my first app)

I have many WM5 folks who can't get Remote Touch working for them.
Some can get it working by unlocking their phone and installing compact .NET 3.5 framework, but not all.

It complains:
'
The file 'PCRemoteMobileClient' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of it's components cannot be found. You might need to reinstall or restore this file
'

I understand that WM5 is fussy about certificates and Remote touch doesn't have any attached certificate. ( I understand that it costs money to do this).

I don't have a WM5 phone and can't get an emulator to repro the problem making it really hard to know what to do (I can't get any working WM5 emulator for VS2005 SP1). What can I do to make this work ?

Btw the MFC and Runtime libraries are linked in (not Dlls) so not sure if any 'components' are actually missing in the executable.

Thanks for your help ! (You'd be helping a lot of ppl by helping me :) ).

Hi. This is a total shot in the dark but maybe a program like sdkcerts would work
If not there might be a registry entry to lighten security.

I wrote a little program for anyone who has to manually initiate a data connection before running Remote Touch.

1st what it does is check in 3 locations for the PCRemoteMobileClient.exe.
\program Files\remote touch\
\storage card\program Files\remote touch\
\sdcard\program Files\remote touch\
Then it tries to make an http request from google. That should invoke your dialer and get you online. It'll wait upto 10 seconds and if it gets a response it'll start Remote Touch. If no response from google in 10 seconds then a form will pop up and you can hit the launch button. If it doesn't launch Remote Touch at this point then it probably isn't going to work for you.
I've tested it on my HTC Vogue/Touch with BellMobility.

This will still launch Remote Touch over activesync, it'll tell you "No Connection" but you just hit Launch and it'll work.

To install...
unzip file anywhere on your device and click RTLauncher.exe
If it works for you, make a shortcut in programs or your start menu.
note:Make sure you keep the http.dll and RTLauncher.exe together.

Let me know how it goes 4u

First of all: This application is great, but I'm missing a special feature in situations when I sit just right in front of my PC*. In this case I do not need a mirror of the screen on my mobile phone, because I can look directly to the monitor instead. But what I would need in this case is a the touchscreen to work as a touch pad instead (like of a laptop).
This means that the right and the bottom border of the touchscreen can be mapped to a scroll function and the other area just to control the mouse. This would make the mobile phone to a very handy keyboard & touchscreen unit.

*) You may ask why I don't use the PC's keyboard and mouse instead... Sometimes I sit with my little baby boy at the PC and it's difficult to use a full size keyboard with him sleeping in my arms. But If I had a very small device in my hands then I could easily control a web browser and read some news, etc...

Well Delta 2.0 comes with a full screen keyboard and there is a touch pad mode as well. (You need to bring up the OSD in keyboard mode to change between different keyboards/ touch pad).

If you want to make a keyboard that suits your needs (i.e only browsing).
Then you can make one with the Remote Touch Keyboard Maker.
I've posted a video on how to do this.
http://t2remotetouch.blogspot.com/2009/05/video-using-remote-touch-keyboard-maker.html

Once I make a video on using Delta 2.0, i'll post that here too.

Perhaps you have a firewall preventing the connection.
Whenever you have trouble over the network, I suggest getting it to work via Usb cable (ActiveSync) first.

When you are in browser mode, the way to stop the browser is to bring up the Osd. and press the !WWW button.

On Screen Display (OSD).

Almost all the features in this release of Remote Touch relies on the On Screen display (OSD). Press and hold your finger anywhere on the menu and drag it towards the center of the screen and release. This will bring up the Osd ! The Osd buttons differ depends whether you are in Click, Scroll, Keyboard or Overview modes. Read on to find the details of functionality in the Osd.

Yes it remembers your zoom settings when you exit remote touch.

Currently it will forget your zoom settings when:
1. You switch from portrait to landscape or vice versa.
2. You start up the Browser Mode.
3. You use another phone and it's screen resolution is different to first phone.

... and possibly some other time I can't remember off the top of my head :)

Hi , i think your app looks great and I am sure it is exactly what I was looking for. I have 3 old Fujitsu Stylistic 500 tablets with albumplayer installed. I want to remote control albumplayer on all 3 devices.
First problem: I only have activesync installed to my main computer. Is there any other way to install your program to the tablet pcs other than installing activesync first?
second: what will happen to the installation on my pda after installing it 3 times through activesync on different computers?

Thank you.

Hi there and congratulations for your wonderful program.

I am having some problems with your application (remote touch delta 2.1) and I am sending you this email so you can tell me if its a problem on my pc or on your application.
I have Remote Touch Server run by Windows startup!
I am testing your app on my HTC Touch Diamond (P3700).

I usually turn my PC on, by Wake On Lan (WoL).

* So every time I open my PC, it prompts for a password(Windows logon welcome screen). If I dont enter the password on my PC by hand, I cannot connect to my PC via Remote Touch Delta.

(It says "loading..." and then a message pop ups saying, remote touch error - Connection Failed)

I can loggin by the standard application I used to use, which is made by Windows (I think) and its called Windows Mobile Desktop. (I have it included in this email *attached)

* But again if I login by Windows Mobile Desktop, I cannot connect again to my pc. In this case, remote touch delta connects successfully but it shows a black screen. I cannot do anything either see something. Sometimes instead of a black screen it shows some of my desktop icons but its like a problem.....

So the only way to make the remote touch delta to work is by logging in to my pc through another computer and leave remote desktop on the computer open, so I can connect through remote touch.

What is wrong with me? Anyone else is capable to do those things? Please help me.
If I buy the commercial application, am I going to have those problems?
If you could make your program work before the logon of windows 7 and connects successfully I would be very happy.
Please help me with this issue and I am donating you 10$ or else I am buying the commercial if it works for me.

I just need the application to be able to connect to my PC after I press the power button and the login screen of windows appears. I CANNOT do that now. Why is this happening?

Please reply. I need this app, because I've been using Windows Mobile Desktop for quite a long time, but Remote Touch Delta is the best program for Mobile Touch phones.

Another thing is that I don't know how to display the Copy-Transfer-www buttons...Sometimes they pop up, but no metter how much I've tried, there is no way to understand that. Zoom has never appeared, too!

Thanks in advance,
Nick
