So this morning I managed to drop my HTC Apache in my sink...d'oh. So I went on Verizons site to see what my options were for a new smartphone...and I saw the Samsung Omnia
Where did this come from?
I've been waiting for the HTC Diamond...but this Omnia looks pretty good.
Is this my best option for a smartphone on Verizon right now?

I'd go with the HTC touch pro :)unless you drive a Nissan/Infiniti vehicle w/ nav, because your bluetooth won't work.

Ummm. Not sure. I went with the Omnia. Had it for 4 days so far, and the more I have it, the less I like it (previously I had a heavily modded XV6700 from Verizon as well)
The bad stuff:
- FUCKING Verizon partially disabled the GPS. (Not even master hackery in the Reg Edits can make it happen, 100's of peeps have been trying to set GPS free) it will only work IF you pay for VZ GPS ($9.99 a month)
- The proprietary dongle is just full of FAIL. You need a dongle to listed to the FM radio, to connect regular headphones. Also, the charger is also proprietary and on the side. I'm not happy with that.
- I haven't found if A2DP is supported or not yet.
- Voice Command is also fucked. Apparently full voice dial activation is NOT supported. Even if you install MS Voice Command or a third party program, you need to PRESS a button to activate it. (and remember, the Omnia just doesn't have that many buttons)
-The soft keyboard choices all suck. Had to buy SPB keyboard.
-Verizon will NOT sell you the phone without a data plan.
The Good:
- Nice form factor, very sleek
- The sound is good
- Supports lots of video files
- Probably the fastest windows phone running 6.1
- Easy to Skin (Mine looks like an Iphone right now)
- 8GB plus you can add another 16GB more in a microSD card
I have a few more days to decide whether to keep it or not. Right now, I'm 50/50. I'm not sure if I can use another ROM from HK or else. That may make it better.
