I want to start this thread to recap best ROM + Shell software that you are using as of now. I think that this is a good time since the machine is a bit old (hmmm... or I should say, stabilized) and there are not much software being developed especially for the WM2003se OS, making this thread sort of a final revision to the topic... also this serves as a good survey of who is still using this good old machine.

Kindly fill in the below items:

ROM:
Radio:
Shell(s):
Calendar:
Contact:
Keyboard:
Tasks:
File Explorer:
Any Additional Software:
----------------------
For me:

ROM: 2.03 tx
Radio: 1.13
Shell(s): PointUI Home* (totally replaced today screen by MortScript NoToday.mscr) and SCLPC*... InfiniteToday (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=444414) is excellent too but this Chinese program hasn't got much good English skin as of today.
Calendar: ThumbCal*
Contact: iContact*
Keyboard: FullScreenKeyboard* is good and also Resco Keyboard*
Tasks: (I don't use Tasks so I don't have anything loaded)
Any Additional Software: WisBar Advanced, VITO ButtonMapper to map all these * programs to hardware buttons

Thank you for replying this thread.

Surprised only one person replied this thread, Magician might be a really old machine after all.

Your apps are good and we use quite similar apps.

You may also try InfiniteToday (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=444414). A very good app but there are some Chinese only skins and windows messages.

Give it a try!

Hi Dyanych,

Do really try the Taxist 2.03 rom, first of all it's Russian, and that it is super fast and the energy consumption is disbelievingly low.

Upgrading a ROM isn't that hard at all. I do that almost every week, trying new software, or linux, etc. etc. etc.

Infinite Today (the Chinese software that I mention) is close to have a English version, do keep an eye on that. I read Chinese but I don't like reading Chinese characters on my phone, so I have translated a skin which then allow no Chinese characters to be seen with normal use. If you (or anybody) needs it, let me know.

true. I'm still using it. but it's starting having problems -- mini usb port worn out, battery dying...

there is not many ROM to choose from. I use the latest 1.13.00 WWE ROM listed on xda wiki page.
For apps, I recomm PPCPimBackup, Simp Timer, TaskMgr, Toogle (toggle screen), BTSwitch, CE Commander, FlightMode, MortPlayer, TCPMP.

Dear Nahtez,

Thanks for your good reply and hope your O2 survives longer.

I have bought battery at around $56 HKD (that's 5.6 Euro or 8 USD) in Hong Kong. You may want to get one from Yahoo! Auction / eBay, guaranteed cheaper than else where.

Hi iRiKi,

Thanks for your good recommendation to NiceTrack but I can't have this setup to work... Choosing any of the com ports doesn't work... Which com port should I use if I have an magician?

Regards,

Philip
