View Full Version : Your Sprint Mogul must haves?

I am issuing a brand-newbie question warning to start with...Ok, I expect to see my Mogul in the mail sometime today. I bought one gently used online, and its set to arrive exactly as they come from Sprint, with wm6.0
So I've been reading around on modifications, upgrades, roms, etc...
My first really dumb question is:
1. What is a "radio" roms function? I see radio versions and releases all over the site, but don't quite understand what it is for.
Next I really just want to know what some personal experiences with the Mogul have made some software must haves for people.
At a glance I think I'll be doing the wm6.1 update so that tv and gps are enabled, and then I thought about installing the wisbar softwares. I kind of like the idea of things being larger so I don't have to use the Stylus as often. I even considered the iphone skins, but have been warned by others to beware that it will slow the machine down, and I don't want to turn it into a snail.
Any and all input for a rookie is appreciated.

by default the newest Sprint (ROM) - (updated OS, Drivers and Tweaks) has a larger theme for using just your finger.
I would say must haves are
Pim Backup -saves cotacts txt emails ect.
Samsung Omnia 3D driver for titan(Mogul) better 3D performance.
HTC Home-better on screen bigger on screen clock
Those are the 3 main thing.
Now for a Radio its how the cell phone connects with the tower but requires you r unlock your phone and voids the warrenty its now very simple but still scary.
Im bout to go back to work for 3hours and then ill b back to add more to this.
If you want I can get you a Download link for many programs. just e-mail me DC13@cableone.net

Thanks for explaining the radio rom simply. I am on sprint and the Mogul I got is a sprint phone. But its an eBay purchase so I don't have a warranty to worry about.
I'll shoot you an email for those links

mmmm.... lets see, I'd add:
Garmin xt (more map sets the better) HTC home 2.1, Enlarged start menu, NoData, HTC task manager, psShutXP, SPB Insight.
Some are free, some are not. I like to have a conversion app like converter ce on also for work.
PS: I keep pocketsnes on my card with a few romz to distract ppl when they are annoying me... Silence is golden!

SPB Mobile Shell
Phone Alarm
Mortplayer w/darkglass skin
Egress 4.1
Oxios
Pocket Informant
Opera mini
Opera 8.65 or 9.5 if you don't mind the keyboard bugs and out of memory warnings. Use mostly for downloading.
WKtask 1.0.2.4 - later versions don't allow you to easily terminate the phone app, freeing up 4-12 mb when needed.
Coreplayer if you don't mind paying, tcpmp if you do.

I haven't read this whole thread yet so please excuse me if someone's already answered.
7z is 7zip. Excellent format to zip files. Much better compression than standard zip.

Does anyone know how to change the screen tap sounds on the Mogul? I have Windows 6.1 and I am wanting the sounds from Windows 5. I like the sounds better. Is this in the registery?

7zip. Yes it's like zip, but "better" according to them, so go figure.
Use Ultimatezip to extract. At least that's what I use.
Cheers

anyone else having problems with wlan with that comm manager? besides that looks great
also the htc opera has no uninstall and cant change the default back to IE
something also upset beejive...
edit:
ok seems beejive is just having problems, and if i remember right there is a reg setting that i can change the default browser... but i just reformatted it anyways, had a lot of junk and figured it was a good time...
but a few more questions, is the htc streaming media able to do like youtube and stuff? also what exactly does the flash player do? i already got the tcmp flash plugin
edit:
seems the wlan is still working the same as always, but it just keeps an x on it in the comm manager...
some nice stuff, like the opera alot but i dont want it my default browser, i like the tcmp flash bundle w/PIE. still dont notice a differance with the new 3d driver. and the htc home was my fav home for my blackjack II, and still on this
also anyone looking for a multi IM app, beejive is nice... has AIM, MSN Live, Yahoo!, Google Talk, MySpace IM, ICQ, and a few others... palringo was waay too buggy, and IM+ was waaay to expencive

Dear the link is not working.
it says:-
This file is neither allocated to a Premium Account, or a Collector's Account, and can therefore only be downloaded 10 times.
This limit is reached.
To download this file, the uploader either needs to transfer this file into his/her Collector's Account, or upload the file again. The file can later be moved to a Collector's Account. The uploader just needs to click the delete link of the file to get further information.

how does everyone use such ram heavy apps? I keep mine extremely simple- since it fits my needs well. I also experimented with spb and everything, but found it ram heavy and "unprofessional" in a sense. Therefore I have the basic today screen:
Must need app if you have plenty of appointments or schedule arrangements:
Calendar+, can't live w/o this program!
Internet Browser:
Skyfire, newest version is .9..has flash enabled and basically supports any website- Opera is stone age compared to this
Internet Messenger:
IM+, since it links several of my accounts together
Convenience:
SPB Pocket Plus: for the finger-flicking usage- tho if you upgrade to the ROM DCD 4.1.2, there's no need for it, since you can flick anywhere.

well why do we have to do what we do with our phones anyways!!!!!
i now have to take a train to work... so i use s2p (slide 2 play) to listen to music... start music then turn phone off.. and it still plays. If i want to change the song hit power and slide 2 unlock shows the slide 2 play... just hit next... SOOOOO NICE....
