View Full Version : To Backup the Original ROM, before i flash a new one

Is there any utility that i can use to create a re-load-able ROM, before i start experimenting with my own custom ROMs?

Of all the stuff i've read here, and else where, i have a pretty good idea of the how to, to create my own ROMs, as i did back then with the Palm OS devices.

the only thing i've not been able to find much of, is a good way to backup the current ROM, into a re-usable file that can be uploaded again.

my current ROM is 3.27 from factory.

All the stuff i've read was about dumping a RAW ROM, with the only purpose to pick and dissect the files and software from it, rather than having a good backup.

So, can anyone point me into the right direction to save a good copy of the ROMs i like?

Thanks

Am I right to assume that at present if we flash a new ROM on to our x7510's (after flashing hard SPL of course) then we loose the ability to go back to the factory ROM if we so wish?

I agree with AllGamer, we need to backup the original ROM from our devices before doing any flashing.

Plus, sometimes, the dumped ROMs will not include some very specific files, so I guess, somhow, each ROM - again Somehow - Device dependent.

So I wish to backup mine not use a dumped one.

Have anyone found anything useful, or good method to do this yet?

There are so much windows bundled crap, that i want to remove.... yet i can't unless i know i can revert back safely to factory state.
