I have already tried a shortcut creator which allows me to change the icon of a shortcut...

But when I copy that shortcut to a different pocketpc (which has the same programs installed as my own), the icon switches to the standard one...

Any chance to definitely change that icon??

The Icon of a exe file is stored IN the exe file, try to open the exe file in a res-editor and replace the icon with the one you like :)

I don't know if that works for ppc exe files too, but: just try it :)

I already tried it... But I still have a problem:

When I copy the .exe file from my PC to my device, the icon is automatically restored to the default one...

Maybe the icon I'm using aren't compatible with this type of operation?
I use this icons: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=424678
The .ICO ones....

sometimes there are more than one icon in the exe.. (different sizes and colors) be sure you replace all :)

if you like i can try it for you, just send me the exe and the icon, or upload it here.

It seams your .ico is corrupt, i can replace it with an other icon, and no problems.. but your one is "empty" (in windows I see the guitar playing homer, but in ResEdit, the icon is empty.. )

I tried it with another on, and it worked :)

Used TGTSoft ResEdit. Just open your exe, then point on the left site to "Icons" and select that one you want to replace. the you see the icon on the right site. Over the Icon ther is a replace button, click that, select your icon and save the project :)

Everytime I try it, I get an error....

ERROR CAN'T OPEN .BMP FILE....

But I'm trying to use .png and .ico icons.....

Maybe Am I already using wrong icons?
Where can I find correct ones?

Here you will find lots of icons: http://browse.deviantart.com/customization/icons/?order=5

hope you get it to work :) if not, i can try to convert them :)

I use .PNG icons.... If I try to replace the existing icon with a .ICO one, I can't load it with the app... It doesn't let me load a .ICO file...:(

EDIT:
Finally I make it work opening the .ICO file with an icon editor...
I deleted all the format (16x16,24x24,ecc...) inside but one (32x32)...

Then just write its name in ResEdit (because it doesn't allow me to search .ICO file)....
AND FINALLY IT WORKS! :D

Thanks to all! ;)
