Apologies if this is not the place to post such a thread? I did a quick scout around and couldnt find a more appropriate place?
I have lurked around these parts for some time now, only signed up a few weeks back, and havent really posted.
However, I have been quietly messing about with my HTC Touch Diamond and I am finally losing the will to live with it - i need physical buttons.
I discounted the X1 and HTC Touch Pro as they are too similar.
So I have set my heart on the PTP...
You guys that have this device, how are you getting on with it? The most frustrating thing for me is a laggy interface, it doesnt matter what mods you do on it, the Diamond continues to be too slow. I appreciate that this is a WM issue and it will never be truly stable, however, the state of my Diamond cant be normal...
I feel on the HTC/X1 etc that they are trying to hard to make the interface 'newbie friendly' and all I want and need is the ability to sync with my exchange server, the GPS is handy and all the other bits such as wifi etc are very handy but by no means a necessity.
What are your opinions so far on owning this piece of kit?
Cheers
Alex

I received mine last week. Out of the box theres nothing to pretty up the interface, or slow it down. I find the speed to be good. The initial load of a program may be a few seconds but anything after that is almost instantaneous.
The GPS is great. I get a signal lock very quick (less than 30 seconds). Ive tried tom tom 6 and Garmin and both look and work great. even on square screen.
Remember though the available memory (program mem) on the Pro is about 67mb free. Not had a issue with that though.
I am enjoying using the keyboard, but I have small hands.
Dieter Bohn just put up a review on the pro, hes had it for awhile and I think the review is well done, check it out.

Thanks for the reply.
I will read the review now.
Ive gone and ordered one, with an 8gb card - cant wait for a 32gb to be available and at a decent price.
To me, the diamond seemed to be all show and no go.

Has anyone found a way to get any of this memory back? Is there some palm junk we can get rid of?

I had just flashed my own 6.5 ROM onto my Treo, and the battery life is fantastic, it doesn't suffer from lag. There's a few ROM Related issues, but as far as the device is concerned, I have absolutely nothing bad to say about it.
I enjoy it, it's solid and pretty. A 3.5mm jack with SDHC make it a music playing monster.
6.5 is FAST on this device, if you're getting CDMA than it is flashable.
You will not be disappointed with 6.1 or 6.5. Small screen, but, it makes up for it by being a small device with physical keys...
Don't let the lack of ram fool you, I run any program(s) that I like and it handles it perfectly up to 99% usage. I can run Skyfire, facebook, twitter, and Kinoma Play at the same time...
Although the Palm Pixi--- That could be a game changer :)

I love my Treo Pro but i had an opposite WM6.5 experience on it that you. WM6.5 ran like snails on my Treo Pro plus i didn't see what the big deal was about 6.5 anyway. I hate the titanium thingy and even moreso the silly honeycomb whatever. I found them tedious to deal with and took more steps just to accomplish tasks. Needless to say i went back to WM6.1 which works better and faster for me.
