Notes:

Please have HardSPL (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1738693&postcount=1) installed before flashing. You may sometimes get a bad flash, and HardSPL helps.
If you want to change the radio, it must be a 1.59.xx.xx radio.
GoogleMaps and Opera are both installed via built in Customization at startup. Please see the zip files included in each pack to see how you can add any other cab installation you want to your ROM on first boot. You must only know how to edit the config.txt on your storage card. Search up on this site and there's info if you don't know how.
The included version of GoogleMaps in the bundled cab is 3.0.1.6.
The included version of Opera Browser in the bundled cab is 9.5.15954. The version I provide is only in English. Find your own version if you want it in your language. It can handle Flash, but has been disabled via opera:config for smoother operability. Change back if you'd like.
TomTom is setup as default GPS Navigator in Footprints. Navitel, Copilot or Papago are also supported. NO OTHER GPS APPS ARE! Registry to change for people that know what they're doing is located in HKLM\Software\HTC\NaviSW.




Extended Notes:

For fellow cooks: Together with Cmonex (incredibly helpful, great person, and very knowledgable), I believe we've found a great solution for our devices. It took much flashing and hard-resetting to finally get it right. Now we can have the best of both worlds: the latest radios and kernel, while still maintaining 102MB of ram and smooth m2d scrolling. The only downside to all of this is that there's no compatability with 3d drivers.
Here's how to achieve this:
1. Use a rom w/3.xx drivers as your base for OEMDrivers and OEMXipKernel.
2. Copy ddi.dll and wce_pmem.dll from 1.xx OEMDrivers over the 3.xx ones.
3. Delete disptools. (optional, but helps anyways at least for space as it's unneeded)
4. Change MainMemoryEndAddress in nk.exe for more RAM. This can be done by searching for 38459FE530559FE5A13EA0E38224A0E3 with hex editor in S000 of nk.exe and changing 82 to 83 so it looks like this: 38459FE530559FE5A13EA0E38324A0E3.
Please give credit where it's due. *RANT ON* So many cooks in here don't actually try to better the device, only make a "best of" compilation of what other people work on to fix/port, then slap their name on it and ask for donations. If you'd really like to donate, do so to people that actually put effort into fixing issues, such as cmonex, or kitchen releasers such as bepe, or the hard-spl releasers, without whom none of this would be possible. Bugs:

Fonts are too big for your liking? Go to Settings/System/Screen/Text Size and set on middle for what you're used to.
Ports from WVGA apps were only skinned in Portrait. Landscape wasn't ported as it's too time consuming.
Miss the old style scrolling? (slower, but has ability to scroll messages/sms, etc.) Install 3LIT3 TouchScroll cab attached.
StreamingMedia closes before playing video? Install 3LIT3 StreamingFix cab attached.
Want to change between EzInput keyboard layouts and change language? Install 3LIT3 EzInput Selection.cab attached.
Settings Tab on Manila2d missing softkey words? Disable TouchFlo in Today items then copy to your /Windows folder the file in 3LIT3 SettingsFix.zip attached.d.

Haven't tested any games on this at all, not really a game player, more of music/multimedia. I can include the htc-ca 3d drivers if they'd help with that, don't know of much use for them though. Do they get used in games at all, or is it mainly for testing demo d3d apps?? Installing themes will be just fine. The only issue on changing theme is the bottom of the location tab gets distorted. I could cook a blue version if more people request it. You mean the normal stock blue theme, like on udk's syrius?

I could cook a very lite version, yes. No extra apps. How do you choose what apps are included though. What is an essential app? Task Manager? Arcsoft MMS? Random Access? The Opal phone canvas? Hard to decide what is important and what's not.

Yes, forgot to update netcf to 3.5. Only 2.0 is included. There are cabs, or wait and I'll release a newer version.

1.) file explorer extesions (if some other programms open the explorer.exe then with this extra addons you can browse the structure of the hole file system - changing directory, viewing images, and so on...)

Hey thanks for this ROM so far it's working good. But i found 2 little bugs! After soft reset it hangs for a minute and than an error occurs! I think it has to do with SIPChange and the missing .net 3.5. I wanted to use the pocketcm keyboard and the "space"- key is not working! This is the first ROM i tried where this error occured!

You can always install any other version of opera on top. And scrolling problems, please explain? Just trying to see what's wrong.

To all others, I'll include the black dialer due to popular demand. The next release will come shortly, and I'll have a Lite version as well, with it being almost bare so you can install whatever you want. The Lite will come with 3g dialer. The reason for no video dialer on the full version is my carrier doesn't support it and I love how the opal phone canvas looks. Looking through the opal phone canvas files, it seems there's a 3g telephony version, but it was disabled for the opal due to no front facing camera. Hope that a device comes out soon that contains this as it will be the ultimate dialer.

I think that touch HD has this dialer with video calls enabled but unfortunately it was not ported to QVGA yet. When it will be done (I hope it's possible) it will be indeed the ultimate dialer for all needs.

about youtube i don't have proxy, with many other roms including the latest i'm currently using it works...it simply say cannot play this video :(
it happened once with the previous rom (not yours of course), i had to install the latest i found in development and hacking section and it fixed, but unfortunately the trick didn't work with your release.

didn't try to install over a new opera but if u knew about that problem why did u choose to release this rom with that version of opera and not a working one?

for the scrolling problems i don't know if they are related somehow but i fixed before the multiple selection adding a key into the reg (is the fix in syrius R4 4th page) but then, trying the response of the device i saw also scroll was impossible

i need a rom fast stable install n ready.

i see you have almost my vision so may i suggest for your next release:
latest working programs (not latest and stop)
more performance (i think 98% of users have sd so more memory for programs less for storage)
maybe reducing number of files in windows dir (installing in programs dir just supposing is possible)
3g dialer (or a working cab if you don't want to, but with opal dialer preinstalled is not so easy install a kaiser or dual dialer always buggy)

I've found no ROM to be useful since swtos 20273 - because "popular demand" requires them to be full of crap. I do not need Cube, Home, Manila, TCommander, Office etc etc in my ROM ... I'll simply install what I want.

Zooming works with finger. With wheel you can zoom, then keep finger on screen until it focuses. Alternatively, you can use press any direction keypad. Only fix I could see for this would be to use the original Polaris Album version.

Look at first post for list of free ram at boot. The 16 MB difference is due to using different drivers. The newer 3.13 and 3.18 drivers allocate more RAM for certain drivers, while the older 1.60 don't utilize it.

Thank you for the effort behind posting the naked version.

I've compared it now with the swtos 20273 v09 - a comparable basic ROM of earler vintage.

swtos flash after reset 164Mb RAM available 93Mb
flash after apps load 104Mb RAM available 55Mb

chbr flash after reset 157Mb RAM available 85Mb
flash after apps load 96Mb RAM available 50Mb

Same set of applications loaded in each case.

Unfortunately I cannot directly compare what is loaded from ROM as both are protected, preventing full extraction of the nbh file.

Also, I cannot detect any practical change of speed between these ROM's. Both have all components working OK (ie. GSM, GPRS, 3G, wifi, BT) and seem equally efficient.

Given the equality of performance, the available resources after reset and app load is the deciding factor for me here.

NIce, very fast ROM, but Active Sync doesnt work correctly... Disconnects after some time... Its bad, i need MS push mail and sync with exchange all day via GPRS or cable or wifi :(

Edit: problem was with Task manager - after cliking x for close any program like Resco Explorer, iContact, it closes it and Active Sync too... After installing older version of Task Manager is it now OK :)

I just want to thank you thank you thank you for the Naked version =) I've been looking for a long while for a Light rom that doesn't have issues.....so far this is it! Only thing I needed to look for to add is the commanager, everything else I already had in my CABs folder already for the customize.

This is what I like:
- with video call
- with connection wizard(to setup gsm/3g for carrier)
- no htc keyboard
- no tf2d
- no htc home
- no htc task manager....etc
- no odd build issues(sd card access, missing sms folders, activsync)
- works fine with MOBiDIV, Garmin, and .NET apps.

Only thing you can add is the commanager and Schaps Advanced Config to disable 3G/data connection out of the box.

I use HomeScreen ++ with Floyd's theme to get on/off buttons right on the today screen. When u on bluetooth u can make it discoverable from the same button as well. Only thing u can't make is disable/enable 3G/GSM. So you stuck with 3G all the time until u install a commanger or another app that does that, BandSwitch will do the job.

Very happy with this rom's speed and lightness.

After restoring from PIMBackup I mainly add:
-Advanced Config(free)
-Memmaid(not free)
-FtouchSL(smoother scroll, scrolling is free)
-Resco Explorer(not free)
-G-Alarm(free)
-Garmin(not free)

For this one, It's a good rom: fast and smooth,
There is only one point which is not working for me:
When you are reading a mail, I was used to push it from left to right or right to left to go to the previous or next mail. this is not working.

For the rest: Active sync and exchange push mail, quickgps, TT7, internet and opera, ... all is working well.

Thanks, now it's working so the patch is the right one.
I see a little bug also, in the top bar, some notifications, like reception of new mail, or alarm, apears whan it's needed and do not disapear when you dismiss the event.
Not a big pb so for now, I will stay some times with this rom.

my first ROM was the TOUCH-IT DIAMOND and I loved the feature of the following diamond keypad.
When you press the CAM button half, the keypad showed automatically a full screen symbols page.
Very useful, cos smileys where in t as well.

I'd like THAT to be included in your full version as well.

Sorry if this is such a newbie question... I'm using the full version (so far great!!!) I installed the 3LIT3 3G Dialer.cab installed without any message. But after that I see the same Dialer as before, with no support for Video Call.

3LIT3 3G Dialer.cab appears as installed program, but does not seem to work.

Is there something else to configure? am I missing something in the installation/configuration process?

In full version, go to settings, buttons, End Key tab, and select what you want it to do (device lock in your case, which is the default). Just long press the end key to lock device.

For other 3LIT3 versions, look around for LongPressEndKey cabs.

I kept task manager out of lite, to keep it lite. :P
Bluetooth LED. Strange, am on Full version now, and Bluetooth LED works. There is no difference between full and lite that would cause this to occur. I'm running 1.59.44.02 radio though, maybe that's helps.

It could also run well with Copilot, NaviTel, or PaPaGo. Registry to change for people that know what they're doing is located in HKLM\Software\HTC\NaviSW. Opal Dialer.

Well, when you connect a handsfree headset via bluetooth for first time, you are asked if you want to set it as up as your car kit. I don't have an actual car kit to test with though, so I really hope it works as it's a cool feature. If not, will have to see if drivers are portable from Iolite to Polaris. And if not...will be removed.

That information tab probably won't work, as it requires a newer HTCUtil to work. And htcutil is chipset specific, so I can't use the newer Iolite one. We're stuck with Kaiser/Polaris old ones for now.

Install Advanced Config. Go to Camera settings and change the save location to DCIM. Worked for me.

Well, when you connect a handsfree headset via bluetooth for first time, you are asked if you want to set it as up as your car kit. I don't have an actual car kit to test with though, so I really hope it works as it's a cool feature. If not, will have to see if drivers are portable from Iolite to Polaris. And if not...will be removed.

Well, it seems the registry that enables/disables NaviPanel is in HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Keypad\"IsCarKitMode" with dword 0 or 1. The file that controls this registry settings going on or off is HTCApplication.dll. The 'Keypad' key doesn't exist, so you'll have to add it and add the IsCarKitMode dword value.

I can't get it to work with my a2dp stereo headphones to connect automatically, but I think this is because when doing the bluetooth handshake, some flags must not be set that show it to be a car kit possibly. Only other option would be bthutil.dll after that and see what it does.

Just tried the ROM and its amazing! Very fast, not found many bugs yet, and I like the Lite version as most other ROMs contain programs I don't use. iGO8 works fine (but haven't been able to use it with footprints yet) and it somehow automatically closes Manila 2D to free more memory. Dunno if this is a bug but it is great as usually iGo crashed with an error message that not enough memory is available.

I have installed the HTC task manger, but unfortunately didn't get the windows Task Manager program to show up, has someone a cab file which I can download?

I kept task manager out of lite, to keep it lite. :P
Bluetooth LED. Strange, am on Full version now, and Bluetooth LED works. There is no difference between full and lite that would cause this to occur. I'm running 1.59.44.02 radio though, maybe that's helps.

Unfortunately, HTC didn't provide a middle layer dll for iGO8. Only the ones I mentioned in second post. So footprints won't work with iGO8, but at least does for Google Maps which is included.

As to the Task Manager issue, you must use a newer task manager for it to show up with manila. Only task manager's extracted from manila2d images will work. Perhaps try opal task managers, they might work.

No HTC task manager visable on M2D but it's there if you disable M2D.

M2D customizer disables only tab with footprints. But this is windows - there are starting many not needed services like Naviservice etc...

Yesterday I managed to pair the device with my alpine car stereo. It works just fine but i don't quite get the navipanel thingie...

You must create the Keypad key and then add dword IsCarKitMode. If you set to 1 and save, you should automatically see the NaviPanel screen. Still don't know what is stopping this from doing automatically.

I tried it yesterday... it recognizes the device as elite mass storage but it takes ages to show it in my computer as a removable storage device and after it shows it the computer freezes when i try to open it.
i'll try the navipanel in a few hours,and the usb storage in a few minutes.

Look in HKLM/Services registry and just delete the keys for the apps you don't want loaded up and they won't load. Then disable the tab if you want. It's very difficult to accomodate everyone's needs in a Rom, or else I'd be customizing a Rom for every single person.

Yes, profile switching is strange, I believe it to be due to the 1.6.0 aku. I may have to revert to an official released sys/xip to fix strange issues like this.

This is personal decision. I believe if you have the ability to do this, you have the ability to cook your own naked rom, it isn't too much work.

Yes I read, and no I don't, sorry. This wouldn't be ideal as anytime it's plugged into USB it would go off.

--Volume Control works funny sometimes in Full Version.



It has a strange behavior it Lite Version also...

Vibrate and Silent modes, work as they should. But when I select Normal, it always stays whith no sound and no vibration, and I need to use Windows default sound manager to fix that.

Any "user friendly" solution for that? ;)

One thing in general: Maybe you provide links to CABs that aren´t included in Lite and Naked. For example Large Start Menu isn´t included in Lite (at least that´s what I saw in the screenshot), you could probably provide this links in one of the first posts http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=395400 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425694&highlight=Large+Start+Menu.
And a link to standard boot screen ;)

Do you mean long press end key? If that's what you mean, that's not included in lite or naked, and for full it's in settings/system/buttons/endkey tab.

As for those wanting cabs of things not in the rom, I'm a little lazy to do so. I'm sure an Iolite rom will be posted by someone soon enough, and cabs of the latest versions of all you need will be available. Until then, any Opal or Jade or Elfin cab version of whatever you want will work just as well. You need apps from roms with manila2d for it to be competely compatible.

good to hear... looking forward to your next rom. I'm really satified with the actual rom. Except pocketcm keyboard everything is working great. But now i'm using the full querty with german language pack.

Did you have a look into the leaked wm6.5? it shall be fast as hell (some people meant this in the kaiser forum)

I tried to install the same version(7.915) to windows hoping to override the existing one. But ended up with two Tomtom apps. I really don't see the need of installing 12 MB program to Rom, when space is valuable. It runs very smooth on SD

Well, this sys/xip sucks. So much for trying non-official builds. I've tried older ones and many issues disappear. Version III being worked on.

RIght I've finallyinstalled this ROM... Very nice!!

One thing - is there a way to make "All messages" redirect to SMS-Chat instead of tmail.exe? I changed the value in the registry, so it seems like the link is hard wired to tmail.exe. Any way to change this??

1 other question....I use Copilot, and so, TomTom is useless to me. Is there any way to remove it from the ROM, or uninstall once the ROM has been installed on the phone?

try to open a video from manila and then exit using the red button. after this you can notice a big improvement in manila 2d speed, it works with many roms...

The default directory is no more the usual DCIM\100Media ... but is Storage Card\My Documents\My Pictures ... try to make a pic and then u'll see that will be saved there ... so just copy and paste all ur picturs in teh new directory.

only one major issue for me: is not possible to install 3g dialer in full version.

i'm trying with many cabs, display and buttons are fixed only if i also install taiseer videocall enabler (or something like that :) ) but pressing video call make me do normal call, and no videocall option in menu...

i used the cab from your previous release 3lit3 3g dialer, and also many other from this forum with no success.
i tried also with udk rom but same problem.
previous versions like gullum work good.

any fix for that?



for usb to pc i found that first time i use in disk mode it works, second no.
but if i connect and select activesync unplug reconnect and select disk mode it work again and everytime i do the trick...

there are a few problems tho.

1. HTC EndKey doesn't set the device to vibrate and back.
2. volume control is problematic.. even using the latest fixed version from opal
3. Backlight is missing in the control panel

1 and 2 fixed in III version of my rom. 3 is not a bug, that's how all newer devices are. HTC have integrated backlight into the Power settings. Look at the tabs on the bottom of Power and you'll see.

1. How far from releasing the III. version are you? Is it worth waiting? You know, I don't want to flash my phone twice a mounth. It is long hours of work.
2. Will there be also original blue version of Manilla? (black version isn't my taste really)
3. Is an volume feature in Audio manager included in your rom (M-Amine had this addon, because adjusting the volume only via system volume honestly sucks)
4. Will the next release be based on Ioite ROM?

Phone keypad is available as sip input in full versions. For other versions you'd need to download a ezinput cab.
