Carrier name display

So I was thinking it might be kind of neat to be able to change the carrier name based on which SID you're using, not just Sprint/VZ or roaming. Has anyone looked into something like this?

I asked the same question a month or so ago and didn't get a response. I too agree that having the phone display the network name based on the SID would be pretty slick. When I researched it I found some GSM solution but not much on CDMA.

Does anyone have suggestions on maybe a registry edit to force the roaming network name?

I would imagine you would have to have some sort of database on your phone, or even better yet a website set up for the "plugin" to poll based on which SID your phone is reporting. Seems like an awesome idea, I just have no clue how to program anything.
