Can you please tell us what all tools did you use and how did you go about customizing and translating the ROM? And how much work is remaining? The reason I ask is because you said you were busy, so I feel the best way to get this done fast is to 'open up' the project a bit. Then we all can chip in as and when we get the time.

Final Q: Considering that the PDAL has only 48 MB RAM, wouldn't it be better to use WM5 AKU 3.3+ ? I mean, any idea how much extra RAM does this consume?

I am not a chef, cook or Bawarchi, but here is a list of the things i did:

- I unpacked it
- Replaced few MUI (Modules) files
- Used ResEditor on some executables
- Added some registry into default.hv & user.hv and recompiled
- Added few registry tweaks
- Modified initflashfiles.dat
- And finally repacked it

You don't need any special tool to flash your PDAL, Rom Update utility is included, now don't ask me the whole update procedure, which is:

Connect your phone to active and start update utility and click on few "Next" buttons and wait... and it's done...

2. Found HEX code C0 FA 01 14 EB 00 84 A0 3F 01 84 F0 6F D8 08 B2
3. Change 60 FA 01 14 EB 00 84 A0 3F 01 84 F0 6F D8 08 B2
4. Now you will have 6 MB PAGEPOOL

Yes you can flash your device from SD, you need format card to FAT16 and copy to the root directory WMUPDAT.DIP

Follow these instructions to flash your phone using SD card.

- Format your MicroSD card to FAT16.
- Copy "WMUPDAT.DIP" to your MicroSD card.
- Insert your MicroSD card in your PDAL
- Remove Battery for 5 seconds and install it again.
- Now Press Left Soft & Power Button simultaneously.

Your PDAL will start flashing itself and will be restarted automatically when done.

NOTE: do it at your own risk, I take no responsibility if you damage your device.

Flashing procedure through SD card is very common, so it was not hard enough to find the appropriate key combination...

Congratulations! You are the 2nd in the world who own a PDAL with English WM6 Professional (I haven't seen anyone claiming that he has English WM6 on his PDAL yet...)

Here are the answers to your questions:

1) - After flashing this rom you can install any Sip which can be found around in a cab file, i made this rom for myself and later on decided to share it with other PDAL users so they can enjoy the benefits of WM6 on their PDAL device too. PCMKeyboard does every thing just fine, nothing is missing in it, you can even copy and paste things by keeping enter key pressed and choosing the desired action from the menu... default SIP has very tiny keys which can't be pressed without stylus, so there isn't any point of taking the stylus out even for a single letter entry.

2) - You have to do it manually (like i do).

How to remove PCMKeyboard:

- Remove the following entries from "user.hv" and "default.hv"...

You can add any SIP by following these instructions...

- Find your desired SIP package or CAB file (in the case of CAB file you need to unpack it's files and registry).

- Add files to dump folder.

- Add your SIP's registry entries in default.hv / user.hv files. ([HKEY_CURRENT_USER] entries in user.hv and [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT] & [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE] entries in default.hv)

- Set it as your default SIP by adding it's CLSID in user.hv as following and you are done with SIP.

3) - It is said that...

The "page pool" is essentially cache between the storage ram (where all the db/binaries are written to) and the program ram. certain things have to be loaded into the pagepool before executing in program/main ram. So in general, increasing the pagepool usually speeds up launching applications, however it reduces the actual program ram so you can't run as many things at the same time...

It really doesn't matter much if you have a 10MB, 8Mb or 6MB Page Pool.
As far as speed and performance is concerned,you can hardly find much of a difference between a 10Mb page pool or 6Mb,it's hardly noticeable over all.So just keep what the cooker has specified in the Rom.Nothing to worry,just enjoy the magic created by the magnificent cookers...

4) - There are a lot of tools you can use to manipulate a rom when it's in a binary file, all you have to do is "To take it's binary out of the ROM", rest of the procedure is same in all devices except partitions structure & memory addresses.

Here is the unpacking and packing procedure for PDAL roms...

Required tools are attached with this post with the name of "PDAL_Packing.Unpacking.Tools.zip", download it and extract it to a folder (Suppose "PDAL")

Unpacking Procedure:

- Place "WMUPDAT.DIP" in the folder "PDAL"
- Execute Unpack.bat, wait and when it's done you will have dump folder to play with.

Packing Procedure:

- Replace/Add/Modify any File/Registry/Package/Module in the dump folder.
- Execute Pack.bat and wait, when it's done you will have updated "WMUPDAT.DIP" file ready to be flashed...

That's all buddy, you can try loading binary rom into an emulator and here is a link to Emulator Rom Kitcken (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=411154)

I don't think that anybody else would cook a rom for PDAL unless he don't own a PDAL device, because they are cooking for their own devices only...

NOTE: Don't mess the things up and don't ask any newbie question which is already answered in this forum, 3 out of 4 of your questions were already asked and answered in this forum long time ago, so please search-a-lot before asking any question, like i do...

You can flash any rom after flashing this rom, you can even flash WM5 rom...
The procedure is simple, download original rom from ftp.clubimate.com and follow their flashing instructions... nothing so special!

I also have a pdal with WM05 English rom, and i would upgrade to WM06, but I don't proceed upgrading for the following problem: when i turn on the phone, at the first blue screen of "i-mate", I see some violet info written in the top-left corner of the screen, reporting:

I bought this device from internet, as used, so I don't understand if it has been unlocked or not. If I flash my phone, it will block? How can unlock the phone eventually if, after flashing, it blocks?

You don't have to be worried about anything about IPL/CP/GSM Versions or lock, because this rom nothing has to do with IPL, CP & GSM and phone Security... in short, your phone will never be locked, and you can come back to your WM5 whenever you want...

It's simply wonderful!!! So i'll proceed to flashing my phone...After flashing is there a method to convert the words to Italian language? If you can explain me how to do it, I can translate the rom to Italian and post it in this thread for every italian who need it! Thanks a lot!

Congratulations... You did it... :D

You can send anything over bluetooth using CeCmd, keep stylus pressed on the file you want to send in CeCmd, and press "Send By Bluetooth"...

If you want to receive anything then go to bluetooth settings in control panel and turn on your bluetooth and also make it visible to others, then go to beam in control panel and allow it to accept incoming beams...

You can send anything over bluetooth using CeCmd, keep stylus pressed on the file you want to send in CeCmd, and press "Send By Bluetooth"...

If you want to receive anything then go to bluetooth settings in control panel and turn on your bluetooth and also make it visible to others, then go to beam in control panel and allow it to accept incoming beams...

When my parents bought me my first pc I was very excited....now with your gift for Christmas i feel as excited as the first pc... :D

Really...a mobile phone as PDAL has been unremembered by i-mate in the important upgrade to wm6. It's a pity...

First of all, this thread is about WM6 only, i referenced WM6.1 thread in here but that was just a reference to keep you guys informed about it...

Secondly, i have updated and fixed some bugs in wm6.1 rom today, please download the updated rom from the same link and your sms related problems will also be fixed...

^ Confirmed. I'm facing this issue too, in the 03/01/09 ROM. However, it was working fine in the original 8MB PagePool 6.1 ROM.

Keep up the great work pawaa :) And btw, could you please append the date too at the end of the ROM zip names? It'll be easier to identify/manage them, what with so many PDAL ROMs these days... :)

Yeah!! If you guyz want we can start working upon the same. I have a lot of ideas to do that and i know who to build a forum site. dex, go to Start > Settings > Connections > Beam ... and mark the check box "Receive all incoming beams" ... then you will be able to receive any file over bluetooth.

Yes, That's exactly what i was thinking, because if there are bugs then it's a good idea to stick with last WM6 which don't have any bug, in the meanwhile i will fix all the bugs of this wm6.1...

1. Open in HEX editor WMUPDAT.DIP
2. Found HEX code C0 FA 01 14 EB 00 84 A0 3F 01 84 F0 6F D8 08 B2
3. Change 60 FA 01 14 EB 00 84 A0 3F 01 84 F0 6F D8 08 B2
4. Now you will have 6 MB PAGEPOOL

there is not any point of having 16MB pagepool, because your program memory will be left 15MB only, i have tried 8,10,12,16 MB already and believe me, i found 12MB the best for PDAL...

I just upgraded my PDAL to 6.1...and it is working fantastic...Many thanks to Mr.Pawaa...
But i am facing some issue after upgrading it to 6.1
1. When i see the call history, it doesn't display the images on the left side (which actually indigates whether a call is missed call, received call, dialed number ).
2. My PDAL is somehow running a bit slow...is there any way to make it faster.
3. Threaded sms is still not working...

I'm using very well your rom, it's simply fantastic...but i think i've a problem: when i receive a SMS, I see correctly the notification on the today screen but when i go to in the "Messaging" screen and select "text messages", I tap on the message but I can't read...it goes automatically to reply to the message. So i can't read long message...is there a fix for it? I hope you understood my problem (sorry for my English :p). Thanks a lot

After this system is showing white screen and activesync get disconnected. As per upgradation script PDAL to boot, but it is showing white screen only. Please let me know what is the issue.

Dude!!! You're a life saver!!! Thank you really.. This is amazing! But one thing though.. have you tried testing the flashing procedure on Windows Vista or 7? Cuz i tried it and it stopped at the first RUU installation (IPL) saying something like USB sync error or something like that (can't remember exactly, sorry) after the new installation USB driver installs itself.. and the phone gets stuck in a white screen.. I had to use my home computer (running XP) to flash it finally after a few attempts on my laptop (running Windows 7 and Vista, Dell Studio 1737).. XP's pretty much outdated now so i don't really use it any more.. If you could please try and check if there's any way to get it to work on 7 and Vista in the future directly or maybe through a Virtual System.. I really admire your work.. You haven't left out anything else at all.. If you can just try testing this on 7 & Vista, your work will be truly complete.. No offense intended.. None at all.. :) thank you again.. Cheers!!!

Yes you are right, the only way I was able to flash any phone for that matter was through VMware running XP because it wasn't working on Vista. I think the RUU does not work in Vista generally. Heck I have an HTC Touch and I couldn't flash the updated bios from HTC them selves either. Had to use same VMware procedure.

Basically, I had an XP image through VMware that I had kept a while ago, I mounted that specific USB device to it and it worked perfectly.

No idea, but for the big menu you can use QuickMenu, and for threaded SMS you can use VITO SMS Chat.

Na.. I don't want external apps.. i want the ones which interface with the system themselves.. They otherwise tend to cause problems at times of need.. Extremely irritating, that.. In 6.5, everything integrates neatly into the system.. Hence faster.. I don't have to wait for secondary apps to respond.. Can you or someone test the above menu integration atleast? Please.. What do you mean dead? Exactly what happens when you turn it on? Have you tried flashing another ROM using the SD card method?

I tried 6.5 on my PDAL and it was really slow. Trust me, it's not worth it. All that finger-touch stuff doesn't work really well and looks out of place on a WM, especially with a resistive screen. I would recommend getting the 6.1 ROM instead and flashing it, using the same procedure.

Thank You very much for WM6.5 ROM. The upgrade was smooth with Windows Xp, USB and Active Sync. It is very slow due to transperancy effects, (some have alternates). I got External GPS to configure GPS, but still cannot get any application other than Google Maps to work with GPS both on WM5 and WM6.5. Also I cannot close running applications as task manager is missing from settings -> memory. I cannot find USB-to-PC in Settings->connection I see in most recent HTC devices.

I have installed QuickMenu on PDAL WM6.5 and disabled transperancy in it to make WM6.5 faster. But the ram keeps getting exhausted soon. Is there a way to relocate all cache and temp files directories to SD card. I created a ramdisk on SD but it is not utilized beyond 1mb.
