***edit 20/12/08*** As BlockbusterF writes few posts below there is a simpler solution than mine. I checked it myself and is working, so i suggest try his method and not mine. My method has some differences. It opens calendar in month view even if you have it minimized in other view eg day view.
For everyone who wants to use the more difficult method of mine this is it:***

After i have take many things from this site ,it is time to give something back!
I managed to make the calendar to open in month view, and not the default day view. I noticed that many others are trying to do this.
This is how i did it. I write a simple (one line) program in basic for ppc, which runs the calendar to month view. You can download ti here:
http://rapidshare.com/files/175093797/monthvew.exe
Is is only 36 KB. Now put it in any folder you want (even in internal storage)
Try to run it. You will see that calendar will appear but in month view. Even if you have already calendar running in the background on day view, by running monthvew.exe it will go to screen to month view.
So the only problem now is to change the link to manila so when you press the button of calendar on screen, not to run calendar.exe, but to run my program monthview.exe (Which will run calendar.exe again but in month view) So the final result will be by pressing "calendar" on manila to have again runing calendar but in month view this time. You can do this by SSMaPa . If you dont know the program read here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=407777
Be sure that you know how to use it, and you dont making anything wrong with this program (You can try to change the button of calendar to run another .exe to see that you have learn to use ssmapa, and after to make it run monthview.exe)
After all perhaps you will see that every time you press calendar ,it opens in day view and immediately changes to month view. If this happens it is because you have it opens by its settings to day view. Go to the calendar-- menu-tools- and from the list there set "open in month view"
Now everything will work ok and the calendar will opens to month view at once ..

Thanks for your work!

But I have to say that it's already no problem to start the calendar in month view.

Just remove the "$" under parameters with SSMaPA and select "start in monthview" or something like that under extras -> options in calendar and thats all.

Wow this is great. It's amazing how small of a quirk can be so annoying.

Can you please tell me where to find these parameters/extras in order to remove the "$".
Can't seem to find this.

Thanks so much!

Yes, but this only work if you start your calendar out of the startmenu for example.

Wenn you click on calendar in manila it normaly always start in agenda mode.

So you have to use SSMaPa to tweak your manila.exe.

Download SSmapa from the link i give , save it in a folder in your mobile, run it.
In the first page check the box "extended init" and press "init". in the messegebox with a question press "no". Now you will see a list of aplications.
Press the first one "calendar.exe"
You will see a box "Arguments" with the value "$".
Delete the $
check the box "patch anabled and "press save.
Now go to the next page "deploy" and press "deploy patch". Restart manila.

Hey lads I'm running dutty's rom 3.6b and when you click the calendar tab on the manilla home screen it'll bring you straight to month view or whatever you happen to have chosen in the Calendar options. I believe its a feature of the newer versions of manilla. Before dutty 3.6b I was using a stock ROM and it always used to go to the day view.

Cooked ROMs are lovely.

Now you can do this, even in the original rom, with the trick i write ..

which manila file is ssmapa patching when you delete the $ sign from it? I would like to just overwrite the patched version after hard reset through autoconfig instead of running the program.
