Hello boys and girls!

Here's my little Chrismas present for you: iDiamond Project public beta :)

As for now, it's nothing but a fancy application laucher, but it will be developed into complex UI over time. I'm too lazy to write more, so look for yourself.

And yeah, a feedback (or even an usability review) will be appreciated.

System requirements:
TouchFLO 3D enabled VGA device

The official beta testing period of v.0.2 is over, coz all valuable information is collected and we got into flood&flame stage.
You're supposed to stop using the beta and wait for next releases (in Feb-Mar). The beta will forcefully expire after Jan, 15th.

Attention!
If you're going to distribute this to other forums, please do not remove credits.txt from the package, so users can always check back for newer versions in this thread.
Interface modders, if you're going to change some graphics, please leave loading screen logo untouched. This is my personal request :)

Regarding HTC Touch HD version:
I can not develop HD apps without actual device, and i don't think i will get any, coz it's not even sold here. But as soon a i get one (by some miraculous means), you can count on HD releases along with Diamond releases. You heard me ;)

Donations:
I don't need money for this project, coz i write it for my own pleasure, and Paypal is not available in my region anyway. I wrote it just above, but i will state it more clearly: what i really need are Touch HD (for HD version) and iPhone itself (to look how things are done there), so, if you want, you can look in the direction of fundraising via someone trustworthy in the community, but that's just an idea...

Known issues:
- Manila hangs or restarts sometimes during adding a shortcut
- Clock icon does nothing - it's just showing time (for now)

Impossible features (do not request them please):
- Locking the entire interface
- Integrating TF3D tabs into iDiamond UI
- Integrating iDiamond UI into TF3D
- QVGA version

Upcoming features:
- Setting wallpaper
- Built-in applications: picture viewer, music player (with coverFLO), messaging, etc.
- Active icons for applications: showing number of missed calls, new messages, etc.

Tips & tricks:
- Adding shortcuts to special places/actions, like Settings and New SMS (workaround): I haven't tried that personally, but i'm sure it's possible to create a special .lnk (with special parameters) for such actions (just goggle it) and add em like regular application.
"New SMS" shortcut attached. Just put it into your Programs folder :)

Seems very usable. I like the look. :P I'm a compare it to the iFonz, like that it's not an app, but I still feel that if you can seperate the bottom four icons and put the page dots above it and have the same docking look as the iPhone. You're good to go :) Oh and I hate the fact that I can't have TF3D and have this running on Second Today :( I can only have one. No bugs so far. It seems pretty fast.

I basically said the same thing :) I think it would be possible, but D-Man would have to re-code it and change it, because I think it'd be hard to keep both of them. As for beta-testing, as you can see, there's no much things to test by the moment, but later i will need a small team of beta-testers. But you should realize that is a hard-work actually, and you'll have to do many crazy things like adding a 150+ applications to main menu, leave app running for a week or so, spend hours to find ways to reproduce bugs, etc. :)

If it's not too much of a hassle, can you give a step-by-step tutorial on how to install it? Or is it as simple as putting the ZIP on a storage card, and unzipping it on my Fuze?

i see a bit of a confusion, so let me try to take a stab at it.

download the zip file(iDiamond Project v[1].0.2b.zip) from post #1. inside this zip file, there is a folder name "device," and inside this folder(name device) there is another folder name "windows" basically extract all files inside device/windows folder from the zip file into your phone windows directory.


i hope dmand, u dont mind, i created a cab for the project. if you do, i ll remove it no problem. the cab should do all the install for you, and the ability to uninstall all the files and go back to your original touchflo3d(though you may lose your advance configuration settings).

installation instruction:

disable touchflo3d in wm6 today
install the cab
enable touchflo3d
add shortcut and customize the shortcut
the included iphone icons are located in your device my pictures folder. if you dont use these icons, you may delete it or move it to your internal storage to save space.

to uninstall the cab, disable touchflow3d in wm6 today
and start menu>settings>system>remove programs to remove the cab.
enable touchflow3d in today and you should go back to your original touchflow3d.

last but not least, dman, thank you so much for the very cool app. like the earlier poster. anyway to add margin on top and bottom or spaces between the icons? it does look very crowed if one to fill screen up completely with shortcuts, which is the only way to go because it would look funny to fill only half of the screen with shortcuts. thanks again and Merry Christmas.

I love this kind of app and you did a really great job, but i have a little problem after installing the app dont dont launch at all. i se your avatar and the loading text, then there is a pop up where is written that the beta test is over and some more informatipons and thats it the program dont start it stand on this message. i havew tried the cab and replaceing the manil files and 2 times the same problem. what did i wrong? i hope you can help me i would love to run this awsome app as well!

Just installed this, and all i can say is wow! its really amazing! It makes the phone really easy to use, to access all the programs etc...

I know its a beta, but just a couple of things: Is there any way to have the weather working on it? And it seems to go into the default windows mobile a bit too early.

Like when i go to messages, how about the touch flo list that i can scroll through rather than just the win mo default, and also the contacts, could just to through to favorites rather than just the list.

Seriously though, amazing work man!

Oh, and if anyone is having problems adding more than 16 items, i tried just dragging the 15th across to the next screen, then it let me add a 16th on the second screen, and i just moved them both back to the first screen and it seems to be working fine. Its letting me add icons without problems now. Hope that made sense!

^totally agree. I just installed the .cab file and it works awesome - the only thing is that its a lil slow at loading the "messages". I think this could be because I'm running a diff theme...? I'll switch back to the orig. theme n see what happens.

ohh and if theres any way you could possibly get the slider to answer a phone call (like the iphone) OR make it so you have to slide and then press answer/ignore versus just having answer or ignore buttons pop up thatd be fantastic.

I have the Fuze and this is my biggest complaint is that even when its in sleep mode, answer/ignore buttons will pop up on the screen when sumone calls me. This can cause problems when the phones in my pocket lol.

First off, Dman this is pretty sick! I've been following your progress for a while and I'm glad you got the beta done!

Since I know you're looking to build on this I thought I'd leave some ideas:
1.) As mentioned before, have a number bubble indicating texts, emails, missed calls, etc...
2.) Possibly make the program go back to the "home" screen when the backlight turns off.
3.) There is an issue that causes the app to restart occasionally when adding a new icon

Other than that it's pretty amazing and runs smooth.

Secondly:
As soon as I installed this I began working on some custom icons for website links. I decided to post them up here in case someone else would like to to use them as well, and if you don't I highly suggest you add them to your favs, they're great!

Also, Dman I'd be happy to help with some graphic design stuff, so just let me know :D

Hi just thought I would offer my suggestions
1. Add the ability to change the background on the lock screen and possibly use the same background on for the icons instead of plain black.
2. Being this is the beginning of a whole interface at least that's what I believe to have read but if so is there plans for an audio player email that type of thing? If not then maybe you can add shortcuts to existing tf3d apps and have them come up like set up a shortcut to go to the audio manager tab. Not sure if this is possible just thought I'd put it out there.

And do the icons for the phone have notifications like the iphone as well maybe that's something to add in as well

So far just playing around it's very fast loading and the usability has the potentional to be amazing!

No, Manila is a VM (virtual machine) and, thus, the app is running in the sandbox, so it can't be "integrated" with regular applications.

I found it to be very temperamental when setting up the main screen, it did lock up completely over and over but as D-MANN said, simple reboots does the job until you've got it set up. Since then its been fine, works a treat!!

The few tweaks I would like to see are...

Changing the wallpaper on the unlocking screen.

Timeout to automatically go back to the locking screen.

Unlocking screen to lock the rest of the screen

Unlocking screen to show if you have messages, missed calls and the like.

The ability to put buttons in for settings and well as programs.

CoverFlo!!! (That looks amazing!)


And finally if possible, swiping left to right for icons works well, but would it be possible to set up some pages for other things... for example, swipe right though the icons, once your through the icons, you then reach coverflo or something like that?

I have been using it on mun rus's tflo hd cab and so far I am loving it. I would love to try and skin this thing personally to mimic dyanmo and also edit some of the options regarding the size of icons and amount of icons that can fit on one page.

two things:
1. the clock icon does nothing even after setting the time and etc
2. when I try to add certain apps (contacts, esp), the launcher reboots. This happens even after a soft reset.

I am not sure if this has been mentioned earlier and I do know it is not supported or reccomended, but I can confirm this is working well on my QVGA Tilt with the latest Garmin dk.9 rom with TF3D installed. VERY very smooth and very few bugs except the known ones the 3D drivers, and with this mod/skin/launcher.

This is really the best interface i have tried on my HTC TD. Its so smooth and and much better responsetime than TouchFlow. Only con is the waiting time for programs to load. Takes around 3-5 seconds to open any program.

But really nice work mate! Cant wait for the other features! When they come - TouchFlow is gone out the window forever.

This is a really great interface. Once it has matured a little I'm sure I'll be using this as a replacement for TouchFLO 3D. There are some things I would like to see in a future release, though..

- Access to a couple of the TouchFLO 3D features like call history, weather, etc would be nice.

- Ability to have the UI go to the "home" screen everytime the phone is locked via the top button. (Seems pointless to have click "home" just to see your the iPhone style clock and slide to unlock thingy)

- Ability to customise the left and right buttons instead of having "home" and "options".

I also had the problem of hanging the telephone when i addes new shortcuts, so what i did was turning of failure detection in windows (don't know or it's right written in english in dutch it's called foutopsporing)
and for now it's working fine

I installed the cab file and also got numerous hangs and crashes when adding programs. Everytime I had to activate the Touchflo again on my 1.93 ROM. Then I installed the Diamond TF3D Config Setup v0.6.7.CAB. Up so far it is ok, so it has something to do with the touchflo somehow. I do not say it will work for you, but for me it did.

so far adding any app icons are fine cept for mapking r12 and garmin which is installed on the memory card ... which restarts it

I also noticed problems with adding new shortcuts but also found that waiting a around 15-20 seconds on screen where i choose app helps it not to crash. It seems that some enumerating process is going when listing available programs...

I really like what you have been able to do so far D-MAN666 and the potential here is just HUGE! Keep up the great work!

I actually had no problems adding 3 pages of apps and bookmarks without a single crash on my TP, so I guess I was one of the lucky ones.

However, I'm going to switch back to TF3D until the message notifications and other enhancements are available.

I'd like confirmation first if there is any way to back up the selected icons and placements so we don't have to repeat every time?

your configuration and settings are all in your registry under HKCU>software>htc>manila

I use S2U2 and can see number missed calls, sms, mms and tasks on the locked screen. This soft have slider to answer/ignore incoming calls also.

Who want, can try Winterface. It is the same as iDiamond Project (Apple iPhone interface mimic) but I think idea to replace Touch flo3D is better.

I liked this program very much but it doesn't show the "calender" and "Alarm" which are very important for me. I had to uninstall this program because of the missing programs on the home.

again i love the app. I have everything set and no problems since loading icon sets. One thing i notice is that it doesn't automatically turn the power off. If i forget it stays lite and drains battery fast. Stayed on all night and phone dead in morning with no use.

Dmann, is there a way to not have to use the slider screen and make let it be another screen? Most of us already use some form of lock program. I have to do pocket shield then the extra islider to get into my phone now. Also, when does the trial run out? I would pay to keep it. I love the speed and function.

One small request though, make it work with Touch Pro when keyboard is out. Since this is based on TF3D I am sure it wouldn't be a lot of work to make it retain the original TF3D landscape screen. Am I right?:p

when i dl the cab file and install it, when it restarts, i can add like 4 icons on my homepage, but then when i press add for another icon, it either freezes and the program restarts again??

why does this happen, and when i want to add contacts or other programs to the homepage, it gives me a manilla error for microsoft?

does anyone know why it does this, i really like it but cant get the icons all ready to go

first of all, this tf3d replacement is great as hell and i love it! :D can't wait for you to release the next versions.

some things i'd really like to see in the next version are:

- more features at the home screen. like new sms/mms, missed calls, alarms and such. (or make the home screen alternative so that people can use s2u2 instead if they want to)

- more icons :) can't get enough.

- iphone like menubar in the bottom of the screen. maybe not in the next version, but later on

- An easy way to add a "settings" app. (:


some little problems/"bugs":

- when you switch between applications in the taskbar there is no animation. that's maybe how it's supposed to be i don't know, but it would look better with an animation in my opinion.

- maybe this is just my device but i can't manage to launch the internal storage "app". the screen just gets white and the only way to go back is to double tap the taskbar or soft reset. i can launch it from the start menu though.

anyways smooth and fast interface ! great job D-MAN, btw the loading screen is epic. :cool:

Read the 2nd post. Its a beta there are some bugs... when it restarts the icons you previously added are still there just keep adding them, it restarts then add some more, its a little bit of effort, but you only need to do it once.

when i try to add other shortcuts, it has froze on me 6 times in a row, and i did a soft reset everytime?any ideas how i can add them without this headache

Great work! Very smooth and impressive for an early beta. I personally love the fact that it uses the winmo topbar so everything integrates well. Like other people I have similar requests I hope to see in the future:

1) live status on the icons (sms, calls, mail)
2) ability to link more apps (settings, mail, weather, etc...)
3) increase font size under icons
4) ability to change clock icon and link it to an app
5) ability to change the homescreen: I'd rather use S2U2 but it would be great to have a homescreen that shows clock, date, appointments/tasks, weather, etc...
