Looks pretty good, few things I noticed, not sure if it's the difference between the Sprint and AT&T versions.


If you look at the first two images on the bar that says Sprint, to the right where the arrow button is, the icons are missing.
Also, the bar just below that the color changed, but I believe that's just a registry entry somewhere, not sure though.
Lastly, the very last picture, the 4 icons at the bottom are bigger and different. The Sprint versions were colored I believed. Hopefully another Sprint user can screen shot that before installing to verify.

Otherwise, the menus and functionality appears to all be there as it previously was.

Ohh, and this was with the all-in-one CAB.

Before I try (and stop from a time consuming BUIHRR "backup-install-hard reset-restore" procedure), I have a couple of things to ask please:

1) Am I correct to assume that this ONE cab, does everything needed? Nothing else?

2) *** How will this work in Touch Pro's landscape mode? ***

3) Is it possible to have a version of this cab with dark skin (I've seen they posted above some of it) and without disabling the video call?

4) Can someone finally explain what "without battery icon" means?

NLS, Not sure about the first question but the others,


Looking inside the CAB file, the landscape stuff is still there so I suspect it won't be a problem. I haven't tried landscape myself, so I can't guarantee it.
The dark skins is simply a replacement of the images. At this time, I believe the main goal was to just get the functionality of having the slide-to-answer and curtain. Skinds can be done later though several pages back, someone already posted images.
Never did find out about the "battery icon", either that or I missed it in the several pages that now exist.


Anyway, hope this helps and hopefully someone else can chime in with the the first question and a confirmation on the second.

I'm using the phone canvas patch posted on 1st post. Works a charm :) Only thing is, is it just me or everyone here doesnt get the in call lock option? If not then possible to get it too for Diamonds? :)

As far as I know, the original version of the cab by ctyy does not include the in-call lock. I'm using the version by fiendz which does, originally from post #125 and fixed in post #189. :)

Since I had a custom battery bitmap (with 101 battery levels) this entry fixed my problem:

Everything is perfect now so i´m afraid of install the darklord´s task bar icons cab.

Ok, double checked on my phone (yeah, HR) item 3 above is not an issue. The standard history screen shows the same thing, the same sized icons and not colored as I thought.

In any case, since I did do a HR, I'm gonna start looking through the registry items and see what's standard and what's not, maybe we can weed out some of the 250+ registry items as well.

So it feels like I have been banging my head against a brick wall trying to edit the dll file. :mad: So I thought I would take a break from that and work on something else that I knew would be easier and then get back to it later.

Here is a dark version of the Slide to Answer/Ignore with Dark Dialer files. Tested on Stock Sprint ROM fresh after hard reset. Try to install this CAB first, if it gives you an error install patch CAB from first post and then this one. I did not include the curtain because I normally send my phone to sleep when making or receiving a call.

If the text colors don't change to white, you can manually do it with these reg edits here. Text "Slide to Answer/Ignore" remains black, if anyone knows how to change that please let us know. Thanks.

Same know issues as before, for CDMA people no access to ## CODES. While on a call, ADD CALL and HOLD buttons still there and is disabled. Video calling is eliminated from menu, however it is still in the LSK. That can be changed with an easy reg edit as stated before (It is known how to change the LSK to Contacts, can it be changed to anything else? i.e. Send, Calendar, etc.). Cheers.

edit: that may have nor been clear: in landscape you don't even get the incoming call screen, only the sound of a ring. It seems like the screen isn't brought forward.
This was a problem I had also before I installed this dialer, so it's not your fault... :-)

No it does not include the curtain. I didn't like it, but I am sure it can be added quite easily.

I removed the battery dll file from all of my CABs, which I believe is the phcanOverbmp.dll file. But I think it still changes your registry settings back to stock so I think that is all that needs to be changed if a problem occurs. Smotrs and Herg are trying to dissect the unneccessary registry changes.

one thing i have learned from manila 2d is anything dealing with the phone channges requires the battery gauge.

this is one way htc keeps us from porting apps to other devices.

i could be wrong in this case but for the most part this is true.

Every one has said it but it is great. I can nowuse throttle lock to keep my stuff private and not worry about the phone picking up in my pocket (wich was the biggest con in throttle lock...)

The issue may be the fact that the software originally came from the Touch HD which doesn't have physical HW buttons but touch buttons. I'm just taking a guess in regards to that but it's possible that it was written to ignore the touch buttons on the front of the Touch HD.

Of course, I'm not following the Touch HD forums, so don't know if they are having the same problem.

Since I installed this I have this weird dialer problem. Normally when I look up a name in de dialer and I scroll down the list, the dialer always shows the number of that contact. This function suddenly disappeared.

when I type for example 323 I would get a matching list of contacts. When I scroll down that lis, 323 would stay in the upper bar instead of displaying the corresponding number of that particular contact.

uninstalling this app turns everything to normal. Does anyone have another solution for this?

as i said earlier i use a custom setting on that reg key which is:

but when i change the key back to this after installing this phone canvas, it displays dark blue.

i even uninstalled it, edited the reg key in the cab and then reinstalled it, but that made no difference. so i uninstalled again, completely deleted the key from the cab, made sure that the dialer was showing the red colour i wanted, reinstalled using the cab without the key, but again it displays dark blue.

after the last install i checked the registry key and it shows the one above!

how can i get it to show as red again?

If you're both using the black version that I posted a link to, you're asking in the wrong thread! ;) That thread was started because it was considered that a separate development branch had begun.

Matthy - check out the bmp files in the Windows folder, for example IncomingCall.bmp. You can edit this file yourself to lose the bricks.

MysticGenius - check out the contents of the cab file to see which files are being replaced. It shouldn't be too hard for you to incorporate your own changes into a new cab file, then you can post it for others to use. :)

As I own a Touch HD (Blackstone), I'll like a WVGA version because it looks weird with this resolution (480x800) :rolleyes:

OK I'm sorry to bring this up again, but I'm starting to get really confused (if I wasn't already confused anyway...)
I got S2Answer to work on my phone (dl-ed .cab from the first post). But I wanted the black slider. Now this thread comes with various ways to make my S2A black but all they do is mess up my S2A buttons and colours when somebody calls me... I've become reluctant to test more of the solutions because they result in system faults which results in hard resets to fix my phone...

All I want is the S2A BLACK edition with or without the curtain preferably in one nice package (say .CAB) because S2A rocks!!!
So pwease, pwease, pwease!!! release me of this itchy agony (I've been banging my head on my desk slash wall(s)

I downloaded this thinking it was the answer to all my prayers.. installed it.. perfect I thought.. brilliant... but midcall i was launching applications from the start menu with the tip of my ear lol

So yes I'm strongly infavour of hiding the start menu while in a call?

One way or another (combination of posts on this thread as well as the V4 XDA black version) I've got the S2A in black running on a ROMeOS1.4 Fuze. My phone isn't receiving calls now (hopefully completely unrelated!) but also the battery icon is completely wrong now.

It shows 15% power - but when going into the battery state it's almost 100%. Have I installed the Diamond power meter or something?

Loving this phone and the work you guys are doing!

I know i'm a bit OT, since this is the Diamond forum, buti try anyway, since the full thing, if i'm not wrong, is ported from HD and thus the dll's should be the same as mine. Well, i'm trying to put in my HD the in-call curtain, since of course i've already the s2answer. Installed the 2 bmp's and inserted in the registry the "PhoneLockEnable"=dword:00000001, but nothing happens.

So, the question: is this function somehow tidied to diamond's rom? Or i miss something?

Found solution: Replaced Assets_dialer_Pressed.bmp with original one, everything back to normal :)

Just download original Assets file (http://www.novalistic.com/m505/bmp/Assets_dialer_Pressed.bmp) and replace it. Trust me it will work :)

Not working in Diamond 1.93 WWE stock ROM

Tried (all files from 1st post):
1) Installing Patch cab -- result: WM default PhonePad
2) manually replaced ALL files from Path zip to /Windows -- result: same as above.
3) installed Full cab -- result: same as above.

I love the slide feature... someone please help.

Since I installed this I have this weird dialer problem. Normally when I look up a name in de dialer and I scroll down the list, the dialer always shows the number of that contact. This function suddenly disappeared.

when I type for example 323 I would get a matching list of contacts. When I scroll down that lis, 323 would stay in the upper bar instead of displaying the corresponding number of that particular contact.

uninstalling this app turns everything to normal. Does anyone have another solution for this?

Just to say thanks for this! I used Diamond_PhoneCanvas Patch.zip so that I could see what I was overwriting (and backup files first, to make restoration easier). I believe that it is working perfectly on my Diamond with the Orange UK stock 1.93 ROM. I also used the transparent curtain from this thread/post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3091572&postcount=4, which works fine as well.

One thing to note, which has pleased me immensely, is that the slide to answer feature works even when the device is PIN locked! Previously, you would get the standard incoming call screen when the device was unlocked or key locked, but when PIN locked you got an information bubble at the bottom with only Answer and Ignore softkeys. No Mute, nor Send Text options. Now, I get the full slide to answer screen even if the device is PIN locked, including Send Text option. If you select this, it ignores the call, then you have to unlock the device to get the text message screen, but this is what I would want to happen!

many people asked me how Iedited/replaced the text "Slide to Answer/Ignore"

If you install the Update/Patch version everything stays in your language, exept this part of the dialer.

What you need:

A Hex editor. For example XVI32
The siggner Tool (search the forum), to resign the dll

1. Take the phcanhtc.dll out of the zip or out of your "\Windows" directory

2. Open it with the Hex editor of your choice

3. Go to adress 5B074 (like you can see in my Screenshot)

You can see theres the Beginning of the "Slide" text. Now you can enter every Text you want, but you text MUST have the same number of characters as the original. Of course you can fill unused characters with space, if your text is shorter than the original.

4. Just Klick on the "S" and type the character you want to replace, skip the "00" and klick on the "l" and replace this one...and so on.

(Example for my German translation in Screenshot 2)

5. Save your modified File and Sign it with siggner.

6. Copy back to your "\Windows" directory (If you can't overwrite, than rename the old file there before.


If you want to change the text for "Answer/Ignore" "Buttons" you have to edit this in your corresponding mui file, but thats an other thing.

I installed the [Diamond_PhoneCanvas Patch_Eng.cab] on my Touch Diamond. The Slide to Answer works perfectly.

However, RHS soft key menu items on the phone pad has lesser functions now (4 items - open contact, send text message, paste options & view only; instead of original 11 - missing call history, device info, save to contacts, etc). Also, the 4 tabs of call history (all calls, dialed calls, received calls, etc) which were originally on the bottom of the screen are also missing. In particular, I am not able to 'Delete All Calls' by invoking call history from the menu now.

Another observation is that when I selected the Phone Pad by pressing the green phone button, and then use the d-pad to scroll down, I used to be able to see the number of the caller on that call history list displayed at the top, but not anymore.

How do I fix this? I tried uninstalling the cab but those functions were not restored. Appreciate if you can assist.

Further to my question above, I discovered that if I use my SKTools, I have the ability to restore my dpadmenu.dll from my ROM. Will this help to get back my original menu items whilst on the dialpad screen?

Update: For the benefit of others, I went ahead to restore the dpadmenu.dll from my ROM (could have also copied off the same file from someone else's diamond), and BINGO ..... I had my menu items on the dial pad screen restored after the soft reset. ... Main problem above solved, but still can't see the number of the caller/contacts from the call/contact list displayed at the top

Thanks. Installed and seems so far to be working great! (both the slide-to-answer and the key disabler during the call). However still doesn't work in landscape...
edit: that may have nor been clear: in landscape you don't even get the incoming call screen, only the sound of a ring. It seems like the screen isn't brought forward.
This was a problem I had also before I installed this dialer, so it's not your fault... :-)

Are there any update addressing this problem???
I tried a Touch PRO and the dialer popup properly in landscape mode...

I installed Pocketshield on my phone, then uninstalled it because it was making my phone crash and ending up with a blank screen that was impossible to take out, and now, the phone skin is changed to the theme that comes with Pocketshield. I removed the program, but I can't go back to the original phone skin that comes with the HTC Diamond. How can I go back to original settings without doing a hard reset?
Also it changed the ring theme from the diamond to the one that comes in WM

Cab modifed from phonecanvas qvga version[http://mbarvian.freehostia.com/2008/10/22/all-extracted-opaljade-applications-cab-and-oem-package-included/]

Usage:
1. Try the [Diamond_PhoneCanvas Patch_Eng.cab] first.
2. If [Diamond_PhoneCanvas Patch_Eng.cab] doesn't work, try extract [Diamond_PhoneCanvas Patch.zip] to /Windows of your devices.
3. If it still doesn't work, try the new [Diamond_PhoneCanvas_full_Eng_without_battery_icon. cab]

Notice:
1. Doesn't work on CDMA ROM.
2. You should enable PhoneSkin.
3. Test on dutty's 3.6b Lite ROM.

ChangeLog:
-Remove 0804 mui files
-Change fonts size of buttons during calls

I am trying to make an OEM package from the CAB - but I can't seem to extract the files (and cabtools can't either) - am I doing something horribly wrong?

Pretty much every CAB tool I tried (WINRAR, expand(WinXP), cabextract(Linux)) aborts or signals errors...
