Well, I found "phcanOverbmp.dll" can't be overwrite during installing.
I am uploading a new cab without this file.

Giannis86

just a recomendation

you can make the porogram rename phcanOverbmp.dll to phcanOverbmp.dll.bak and then place the new phcanOverbmp.dll in the windows folder..after a softreset we can then delete the phcanOverbmp.dll.bak manually

The other one didn't install. The patch version works fine on stock roms. Also it's in Dutch too.

Btw, what is the difference between the full version and the patch version ? I didn't install phone canvas and installed the patch version and it still works. Bit confused here.....What will happen if I install the new full version without the battery icon ?

OK, installing Diamond_PhoneCanvas_full_Eng.cab didn't work, as the installation failed.

Installing Diamond_PhoneCanvas_full_Eng_without_battery_icon. cab DID work, in that I did have slide to answer, BUT it left me with a corrupted dialler similar to kein's problem (see quote below)

Got other major issues on mine after installing, the right of the dialler is corrupted (graphics is all jagged lines), I get "add photo" under the caller ID photo, and the text size on the in call page seems to be for QVGA, uninstalled it and the whole dialer and answer page is corrupted now :(

I followed mindfrost82's suggestion to download the zip and extract the files into the Windows directory and reboot, but this didn't work either.

Fortunately the dialler was relatively easy to uninstall.

I have since installed the Diamond_PhoneCanvas Patch.cab and this appears to work OK.

Try dumping the ZIP file contents straight to the Windows directory. I read a post or two where that worked but the CAB didn't. Worth a shot since your already messing with your phone.

I saw that the original Dialer Skin of HTC DIAMOND do not show any pics for the incalling contacts who does not have any pic attached.

This Phone Canvas show an "unknow" pics for all contacts without any image in the contacs database.

Is there a way to remove this image on the new phone canvas dialer skin. It make the screen so full and not so nice.

Prefer the old original skin design. Of course this slide to answer is a must.

Hi,

many people asked me how Iedited/replaced the text "Slide to Answer/Ignore"

If you install the Update/Patch version everything stays in your language, exept this part of the dialer.

What you need:

A Hex editor. For example XVI32
The siggner Tool (search the forum), to resign the dll

1. Take the phcanhtc.dll out of the zip or out of your "\Windows" directory

2. Open it with the Hex editor of your choice

3. Go to adress 5B074 (like you can see in my Screenshot)

You can see theres the Beginning of the "Slide" text. Now you can enter every Text you want, but you text MUST have the same number of characters as the original. Of course you can fill unused characters with space, if your text is shorter than the original.

4. Just Klick on the "S" and type the character you want to replace, skip the "00" and klick on the "l" and replace this one...and so on.

Yes. But i have uninstalled it. Thank you anyway!

I had exactly the same problem, had to reinstall/uninstall the dialer and slide to answer several times with soft reset each time. If you manage to get slide to answer working but with white on white text edit the registry as on here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2980826&postcount=130). Uninstalling the black dialer didn't restore the original values.

Or, I've not tried yet, you can try the black slide to answer here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3089616&postcount=75).

Hi,

many people asked me how Iedited/replaced the text "Slide to Answer/Ignore"

(Example for my German translation in Screenshot 2)

5. Save your modified File and Sign it with siggner.

6. Copy back to your "\Windows" directory (If you can't overwrite, than rename the old file there before.

I have not read all the way through this thread but I did notice somethign and thought I would mention it. The cab contains an .rgu that has a bunch of registry entries. 1. Try the [Diamond_PhoneCanvas Patch_Eng.cab] first.
2. If [Diamond_PhoneCanvas Patch_Eng.cab] doesn't work, try extract [Diamond_PhoneCanvas Patch.zip] to /Windows of your devices.
3. If it still doesn't work, try the new [Diamond_PhoneCanvas_full_Eng_without_battery_icon. cab]

I know youve been a CDMA person, should this theoretically work on a CDMA diamond/pro or will there be issues like with the dialers that have to be ported over? I assume it should work since its not touching the radio at all, but seems to screw up the dialpad and in call screen

This works great for me, thanks. :)

I did lose my custom status icons but I was able to reinstall them without problems. The dialer skin continues to work perfectly with both slide to answer and the in-call curtain.

I'm actually going to keep using the standard WM dialer instead because it's faster and uses less memory. But it's great to know that if I need to make a videocall I can do it in a Diamond dialer which, for the first time, actually does everything it should.

Thanks to all involved. :D

Unfortunately, it appears like were gonna have problems getting this on our phones. Until someone manages to hack it to work on our devices, which I'm hoping for.

A couple weeks ago, I contacted HTC about this very thing. This is my question and the response.

Hi, I have a Touch Pro (Sprint) and I was wondering when you might be upgrading the incoming call screen and changing it to a slider rather then buttons similar to the Opal, Jade and HD? It's really frustrating pulling the phone out of the pocket only to find out I managed to already Answer it or Ignore it before I even saw who it as. I'm not the only one, there are several hundreds of pages on the XDA forums about this subject and possible work arounds. People have been yanking the files from phones that have it in the hopes of trying to get it to work on their phones to solve the problem. It would be best if HTC were to solve it though, that way we know there won't be any problems.Thank you for sending your email inquiry about the incoming call screen on your device.

I understand you have an HTC TouchPro CDMA version with Sprint service and you were having issues with the incoming call screen on your device. I know that it is important you receive all the information to best utilize your device. Currently, our developers have to work with your service provider to determine when and if a ROM update will be made available. Unfortunately, there is no estimated time for availability of any ROM update. Please check the HTC America web site for any software updates that may be released and you will find these updates at www.htc.com/us. There will be a list of devices under the Support tab then you can choose your device.

So, in a nut shell, we don't get shit unless Sprint (or other networks) ask them for it, so I have a suggestion. Depending on your provider, locate THEIR forums and make a request. In the case of Sprint, I've seen when enough users request something, it get's forwarded to management. This goes pretty much for any updates we may want as well.

So while we are waiting for a CDMA hack, I'd like to request any Sprint users to goto this forum (http://forums.buzzaboutwireless.com/baw/board/message?board.id=SmartPhones&view=by_date_ascending&message.id=5355) and request the same. Maybe we can get an actual fix, at the least, we'll be heard.

I have been using pocketshield until now as my answer pad as it is resistant to accidental answering or ignoring in my pocket. This would be a much preferred option for me but for 1 thing. It is still possible to knock mute call and mis a call. Ive not got enough knowledge to do some programing myself but it would be brill if the mute call button was also a slider or that this button was removed all together as i never use it.

Cheers :)

why not turning the phone with face down - this results in still ringing for the caller .. however, you won't hear a ringtone : muted ;-)

A user, samspoon in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3097131#post3097131) followed these instructions (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3095872&postcount=173) to get it working on his Sprint CDMA device with a custom ROM.

Still waiting to hear or see the results on a stock Sprint ROM. Don't want to HR my device again after just getting it back to where it was before trying this app hack.

I've installed the above too and they both work great. Slide to Answer/Ignore and a window to cove the buttons once the call has started.

Someone should put a cab together to install both!!

Great work, thanks

I FINALLY got this baby to work! Hehe...for anyone using NATF's ROMs and having problems installing, this is what worked for me :) Originally when I tried to install fiendz cab, it came going through the motions then saying installation was unsuccessful so I thought I'd play with it a bit.

1. Download & install the Patch cab from the first post and soft-reset (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=464286)

2. Download & install fiendz cab found here in post #125 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3091535#post3091525) and softreset.

3. Also to fix the "back" button, download Drachen's fix HERE (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3094509#post3094509)

4. Soft-reset and all should be working...hopefully

HTH someone out there!

Following these instructions, I was able to successfully install this with Stock CDMA Sprint Touch Diamond. However, the files are rather large after installing it left me with only about 10 MB of RAM. I was wondering if anyone knows what can be deleted after this is installed to retrieve some of the memory back. I beleive the 2nd CAB took up the most memory, almost 9 MB. Thanks.

Thank goodness wouldve been upset if I did all that for nothing, noticed youre a fuze user too and love all the work youve been able to do with manila2d and tf3d. Would you be able to assist me in changing this dialer over to a fuze dialer, Id like to add the ability for video share back, thinking its possible after installing this cab over an att phone canvas, all the videoshare options remained in tact not sure about functionality. But if not Id just like to remove video telephony entirely without corrupting the dialer.

So how do I go about changing the left softkey back to contacts?

The LSK is already set to contacts, if you want to change it back to video call then just delete that reg key or set it to '0'.

Just dump the VGA bitmap and dll files from a chinese Diamond ROM[http://www.5dpda.com/bbs/thread-22603-1-1.html]

Cab modifed from phonecanvas qvga version[http://mbarvian.freehostia.com/2008/10/22/all-extracted-opaljade-applications-cab-and-oem-package-included/]

Usage:
1. Try the [Diamond_PhoneCanvas Patch_Eng.cab] first.
2. If [Diamond_PhoneCanvas Patch_Eng.cab] doesn't work, try extract [Diamond_PhoneCanvas Patch.zip] to /Windows of your devices.
3. If it still doesn't work, try the new [Diamond_PhoneCanvas_full_Eng_without_battery_icon. cab]

Notice:
1. Doesn't work on CDMA ROM.
2. You should enable PhoneSkin.
3. Test on dutty's 3.6b Lite ROM.

ChangeLog:

I'm looking through the CAB and I noticed allot of Video files and entries. Can anyone confirm whether this is adding the video call commands and files to the call screens.

If so, I'd like to make a request for someone to maybe break it out into two versions if at all possible. One for phones that have video capability and another for phones that don't. Since not all the Diamonds and Touch Pro's came with the front facing camera required for vide calls.

Anyway, just wondering.

I am working on that right now. I have the Diamond on Sprint Stock ROM. I have been hard resetting my phone, installing the file to make sure it works. Hard reset phone again, remove some files and installing again to make sure it works. Repeated process about 8 times now. Here is where it is at so far, I am down to 13 files about 3 MB of worth of RAM. Not bad cause original CAB was over 200 files. Anyhow, this works with the CDMA Sprint Stock ROM after Hard Reset. GSM files settings are still there though, it enables video calling and I can't get into CDMA EPST via ## codes anymore. If anyone would like to help, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I don't think so, I have been installing each version of the CAB after hard resets without installing anything else. Removing one file from the CAB, then reinstalling again. Hard reset phone again to get back to stock and edit and install file again.

I did notice the first few times I was just uninstalling the CAB and when reinstalling I would get an error saying CAB could not be installed sucessfully. But if I hard reset and install the same CAB, it would install fine. I think it still does not uninstall properly.

Right, that's the reason I was asking, I kept getting an error saying the installation was unsuccessful. Well, I just installed the patch and your cab installed successfully this time. Will let you know how it turns out.

Update: Works great so far. I noticed the phone wakes up noticeably faster with your cab than the older one. As far as getting rid of the GSM settings, let me know how I can help.

That is what I am trying to do. Along with keeping the ## CODES enabled. But I am running into a brick wall here. I am starting to thing that the actual .dll files have to be edited.

This is the trimmest I could get the CAB. If any of the other files are not installed, the dialer and phone canvas reverts to WinMo Default. Video Calling is no longer in the options or menu, but the Left Soft Key still says video call. It does not do anything though if pressed. You can change that with a simple reg edit as stated before. I installed this straight to a Sprint Stock ROM without installing anything else. If you receive an error "CAB was unsuccessul in installing", you can try to install the Patch file from the first post first. I don't think it needs any of those files, but I think it has to do with previous CABs not correctly uninstalling. If the Patch is installed I think it basically overwrites those files that could not be removed correctly earlier. So now that those files were overwritten by the patch file, this CAB can now be installed. Anyhow, it installed successfully straight after hard reset or after patch was installed (you will know if patch was installed because dialer will be reverted back to WinMo style).

Also, you still can not get into EPST programming or use any other ##CODES. But, if you are on CDMA and want this to answer/ignore phone calls at least you don't have to install all the other stuff. It should save you some RAM.

To get it exactly how us CDMA people want it, I guess the DLL files have to be edited. I tried opening them with ResHacker, but I am not going to kid myself because I did not have an idea of what I was looking at. The HTC3BVT.dll and HTCMidCodec_Qvp.dll files looked like they have to do with the video calling feature if removed it revert back to WinMo style. I am guessing because the phcanhtc.dll file is the main one and it is probably from the GSM version and needs those other files to tie into it. But again I am just taking a shot in the dark here. If someone with more experience and expertise wants to pop open these dll files and edit them, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

yes it does get rid of the video dialer if it is not installed by default.

So you got rid of these items from the menu? Sweet.

Were you also able to trim it down (overall CAB size) by removing any files not necessary to implement the slide and curtain? I'm thinking of what MrHawaii did at post #210 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3099513#post3099513). Mainly by removing all the duplicate files already present that didn't need to be reinstalled.

Various Sprint codes that can be entered from the dialer screen to perform functions on the phone or seriously brick your phone if you don't know what your doing :)

Usually requires the MSL number to access certain things or make changes. Some common codes are ##DATA# (##3282#), ##DEBUG# (##33284#), ##RTN# (##786#).

Guess we'll have to wait too see. :)

They are used for CDMA Devices. (Sprint, Verizon, Alltel, etc.) Looks like Herg has ATT so he would not be affected by not having access to those codes.

I was able to remove two more files and still have to Slide to Answer/Ignore feature. Again GSM settings still persist. I am trying to edit the phcanhtc.dll file which I am sure controls it all. If that can be edited to include the Slide to Answer/Ignore action, I beleive that would be all that is needed along with the incomingcall.bmp and Incall_02_B.bmp files to do Slide to Answer/Ignore. I can't figure out how to edit the dll though, I have used ResHacker, PE Explorer, and Restorator. This is not like any normal dll file though because it does not have any resource, dialog, or string table parts. It is pure data hex/dec. Here is a pic of what I have been looking at all day trying to find the difference from a stock Sprint CDMA phcanhtc.dll file and the GSM Slide to Answer phcanhtc.dll file. If we can find that difference for the S2A feature than that just has to be wrote to our stock phcanhtc.dll files. If we can find that difference for the S2A feature than that just has to be wrote to our stock phcanhtc.dll files. Attached is the newest S2A CAB and the stock Sprint dll file and the GSM S2A dll file if someone wants to help. Thanks.

Well Hawaii all i can say it great work so far. You'll figure it out soon :) gl

Think of it as the ability to modify the bios on the handset. Here's a couple screen shots of the ##DATA# and ##DEBUG# screens from my phone so you get the idea.

There's a WHOLE bunch of codes, typically they are secret, but they tend to get posted online in various forums. :)

For instance, allot of Sprint users had to change the Active Profile in the first screen shot from 0 to 1 when they got their phones. The reason I heard was that the phones were self activating out of the box, but some Sprint Reps or in store service reps started manual activations which usually prevented the phone from completing the activation and allowing the data portion of the customers plan to work. Without the ##DATA# ability, allot of users would be screwed so to speak. :)

Guys is there a fix to enable the contact number to show when you select a contact from the call list or when you switch between numbers for a contact with more than one number as was with the default dialer

ok here is my fix...it is three cabs

1st - install first v2.cab which is called "Slider_Phone_Canvas_with_NoSleep_v2.1.cab" from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3091083&postcount=72 with minor modification by myself (including regedit "LSKContact with DWORD set to 1)

2nd - reboot

3rd - install second v2.cab which is mr hawii's cab called "Slide to Answer8.cab"

4th - reboot

5th - install third v2.cab which is called "Diamond_PhoneCanvas Patch.cab" from first post

6th - reboot and enjoy

I made a single cab install. to download the single cab see post below this one for it.

Herg, what menu is that in the 4th picture? Is that the Fuze menu, the HD menu or the phones default menu? In other words, if everyone installs, will the menu change to what you have or will it maintain the phones normal menu like what I showed earlier?

Just wanna make sure everyone (including myself) knows what to expect. :) In any case, great job putting this together.

that is the htc fuze menu.....and to answer your question it WILL NOT install my menu. it will use whatever menu is on the phone by default, in another words what ever your default phone menu looks like before any of my cabs get installed, it will look the same as that after my cabs install.

on the htc fuze (AT&T version of the Touch Pro) we have PTT (Push to Talk) and we have video sharing

That's exactly what I was wondering. Because the Sprint versions don't have the PTT or the VS, not sure of the T-Mobile versions. But since it will maintain our default menus, then it's perfect.

Good job. :D

to the best of my knowledge, it may very on cdma devices, it will not mess up files.

being these files are gsm based that is why i said it may very on cdma devices.

all i can say is to try it out but try it at your own risk. i am not responsible for any damage for these files. this work is as is and i can not be blammed for any damage done.

as far as i understand at&t version is the only one with the useless ptt button under the volume buttons on the side (CON of this device), on the other hand the at&t version is the only version of the touch pro devices that IS A WORLD DEVICE meaning it is a quad band device (PRO of this device).
