Question concerning background image darkness

I've searched throughout xda, but can't seem to find an answer for this. When I use a custom theme (dark/black) on any Wizard/htc based rom, the background image is fine. But, when I attempt to "use this image for background" under the theme options, the background is automatically lightened from it's original color.

I'm sure it's a simple fix, but I can't seem to find the settings for it anywhere. Does anyone have any idea on how I can adjust this?

You may want to check through WM default image viewer - open the image then from menu on the right choose 'set as background' and in next dialog you will be able to set percentage of lightening. Sorry for my english, I hope you may find this helpful.
