cmonex made some big progress last night.
I will continue to help.

But, out of curiosity, who is interested in a custom rom, and who would like HardSpl for their Panther?

It just seems there hasn't been a lot of activity over here, and I wonder if it's worth cmonex to continue.

I would like to create a HardSPL but only for experience (put those wallets away!) and to help out all of you who want to cook/flash/use custom ROMs on their Panthers (I SAID PUT THEM AWAY!). I just need to be pointed in the right direction. Searching only revealed this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=477517. Starting point for HardSPL research & development?

bell released there version of the treo pro last week. alltel released there's today (i think). sprint is suppose to release theres march 11th-15th.

i feel that even though there isn't a lot of action right now, there will be a lot in a short time. palm hasn't released it with a carrier until now. things are going to get busy soon. at least i hope so.

good luck on the hard spl.

that's sad. But I expected this when I bought my Treo Pro and with HTC hermes being my previous device it's really noticable that the community arround treo pro isn't that big. I guess it's also down to fact that treo pro is aimed more for bussines users and most of them aren't really enthusiast which would support such community. I really really hope that palm will release wm 6.5 once is out

I have built a 6.5 rom for the Treo Pro, but I have no way to flash it! I know there is no hard-spl for the Treo Pro, but someone said you only need it if you are flashing the radio. The question becomes how do I go about creating a hard-spl for the Treo Pro? I will dump the current SPL on Monday night, but I have no idea how to modify it.

how do you load the SPL to you phone?
i hate to sound new but i'd like to rebuild the EFS of my treo pro
and i hear that flashing the radio is one way of doing it?
is this true? my efs is shot to hell due to tinker with workshop.
workshop is a great tool but i think i did something wrong and now i can't
see the EFS in any EFS browser.

thanks.

Have some experience with the O.R.D.E. Project for the HTC Diamond.

i been reading tons of threads about pro's for the last few weeks. the reason the pro didnt have a high demand is because of poor marketing. a lot of users are now getting them because their old devices crapped out and they are due for upgrades. if you call any sprint store chances are low that they even have the pro in stock. im not sure if that is because they are going like hot cakes or if they are just pushing the pre. i would like to think its because of the higher demand and people like me who prefer wm over pos and web os.

trust me when i say there is a high demand for hardspl for the pro. just read around, people want 6.5 on their pros. i want 6.5 and want to get rid of bloating. i want to customize my stuff. i dont want to go through the pain of doing a hard reset and redo all my settings and apps, everytime something bad happens from when i install a bad app that renders my phone useless.

im new to this stuff so i dont understand everything fully yet.

the thing i dont understand is why we need hard spl.

why cant we use a program similar to cdma workshop, qpst, qdxm, futuredial rn-rms or futuredial icss (even though the these say they dont support the pro on their supported phones list)?

And how would you propose we use a PST/NV editor to remove the code from HTC's bootloader that verifies that the ROM we are attempting to flash is (a) signed and (b) provided by the carrier that the phone was purchased from? We need a new SPL to remove those checks.

I'm going to start working on this. I've always said that it's better to do something yourself rather than wait around for someone else to do it for you. I don't doubt the usual peoples' abilities at all, I'd just imagine they're sick of being bothered with devices that they have no interest in.

Here we go!

PS: CRAACCKKK SQUADD!!

im just learning about this stuff so i dont know how everything works. is there anyway to stop the phone from looking at the the part checks to see if a rom is compatable? is it just a simple thing looking for the signature, from our rom and pasting it into the new one? is the check a variable we can just turn off so that it doesnt check for a signature?

And that's what a hard SPL solution does. The SPL is the first thing loaded when you power on the device and the code for the signature checking and such is located in there. We need to replace that SPL with an SPL that we've patched to turn those variables off.

Are you working on a GSM or CDMA Treo Pro? I'm on a CDMA one but it'd be cooL to see the GSM folks get some help too. Here's a good starting point for developing a patched SPL: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=477517

What we need to do to get this to work is:
- Create a patched SPL.nb file
- Use JumpSPL to load the patched one into RAM/jump into it. This will allow us to flash unsigned code one time.
- Create an NBH of the patched SPL.nb file and flash it with an RUU once we have jumped to our patched SPL in RAM. Our patched SPL is now "permanent."

I'll keep posting my progress here and if you do the same, maybe we can help each other out .

COOL thanks toO! I'm on a CDMA pro also. I'll look at the spl tonight and see if there's any hints on what to change in there...I've already dumped the rom and broke it up into .nb. Hopefully I'll have some news for you guys tomorrow ;)

This is good news! Not to get too off topic, but how do you like the Touch Pro 2? I currently have the Treo Pro & I'm eligible (and have been for quite a few months now) for an upgrade, and I've been saving the upgrade for the TP2. I haven't had a chance to play with one yet so I'm curious if the TouchFlo 3D is much improved, overall responsiveness, etc. I've read other reviews about the phone, but I feel I can get a more "hands-on" review from an owner.

mccune
4th August 2009, 11:33 PM
The Touch Pro 2 is really a nice device. Battery and audio are the best I had on a HTC device! I don't like TF3D as it's just a skin of a lot of basic tasks that are already in WinMo.
I also need my appointments as well as tasks on my screen HERE (http://mccune.nl/huidige-toestel-layouts) you can see an example of my screen layouts on my devices.

It's in Dutch put the pictures speak for themself.

Now back on topic ;)

Hey can anyone running the CDMA Windows Mobile 6.5 tell me if Microsoft changed the alarm function so that A- it repeats the alarm sound instead of playing just once and B- Enabled the use of MP3's in the alarm? The 6.1 version does not allow mp3's ... I find that absolutely stupid because Windows Mobile 6+ in the Standard version does allow mp3 use if you put it in the Application Data\Sounds\ folder.

im running one of MatBee's roms- http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=92476

that is the latest one. i have an earlier version, but absolutely, YES, you can play mp3's as the alarm and it repeats. i just had it go off and play Too Experienced from barrington levy. it played all the way through and even started again as soon as the song was over. apparently it will continue to sound off until the battery dies:p
