Hi,

I was just wondering, there are like 20 Radio ROMs for Diamond. They are not official from HTC, there is no source code and yet, they are different. Where do they come from? Who is writing them?

And is there any readme coming with the ROMs from the ROM authors explaining exactly what is different and fixed?

There is no developer in XDA-dev who writes these radios. They are from HTC, and come mostly from country- and operatorspecific versions. Not all localizations are delivered with the same radiorom. Whenever an operator finds a problem with their network, HTC builds a new release that should fix the problem. Due to this fact, there is no guarantee that a newer release is always better for your specific operator, there might even be adverse effects from an operator-specific fix.

Furthermore, there are lots of devices with similar hardware, and currently the Diamond and the Blackstone (Touch HD) seem to use an identical or nearly identical radio. This makes sense from the manufacturer's point of view, as diversity in the hardware requires separate development, resulting in doubled development cost.

That's why it is of no value to state "Rom xy uses a lot/less energy" or "is unstable/has worse reception" unless the poster states his country and his network operator.

Have fun!
