This is the FINAL Final Angel
http://rapidshare.com/files/244647384/Final_Final_Angel_nk.nbf
I have been able to put in everything that used to be in Angel.
M2D and M2DC are there.
It has BT_SAP, ActiveSync Killer, PIM Backup, RC Mod, etc.
It has the OperaMini that states it is the final version.
Added BT icon that S.V.I posted.
Also, added mortscript to do some of the changes I did to get things to fit. You'll need a pdf reader to read mortscript's instructions. I could not fit it in.
Everything is back to standard settings. No attempt at BigStorage - has all the Trueffs settings back in place.
Here is the Final Kitchen
http://rapidshare.com/files/251189409/Final_Final_Angel_Kitchen.rar
You can change what you want. It is in my current formatting. The current state of packages is a clean angel as opposed to a nekid angel some are asking for.

Hello all,
As you know, I no longer have a WIZARD. The USB no longer wanted to connect to my computer and I could no longer flash my phone. So For My b-day I got a kaiser (you know, the one with the missing drivers) and gave my wizard to ... now she is my EX GF. I did get to play with it though just before we broke up and realized that I am really going to miss my wizard because it outperforms my Kaiser by a long shot. might not have all the ram I need, but at least it is much more stable and much more responsive.... anyway, I am done lamenting.
BUMMER because I was almost ready to release the final Angel rom for everyone with a new Manila and an EN/RU stock keyboard... a fed updated exe's and Dll's and so on and so fourth.
So rather than just dropping the whole project of making a last super stable and super fast 6.1 rom; I decided that it would be a good idea to upload my work in progress for anyone that wished to take this thing and make them selves a rom that would be usefull for them as well as take some of my packages (with compressed and simple image files for better performance) and make use of them.
RORYB decided to make a finished version. All I can say is that I wish I could flash it just to see. He has been helping me make my roms better since the (was it hornet or brighrom??) lets just say a long while; and knows how I work. I trust that with his input on Angel 5 is a HUGE improvement.
So as of post 390, this is his baby.
Thank you all,
Svi

Thanks and happy new year
The "Connection Setup" has a provision file (zip) that is password protected. the whole cab is 1.5 mb. Twice the size of the "Network Wizard" that is installed in to this rom. If you could save the registry settings for your network (and others) I will gladly put them into a CAB that you can install during UC customizations. I understand how important it is to be able to connect to GPRS and MMS; however that package is as big as the keyboard in my signature... I would rather include that into the rom before anything else. I hope that you understand. I also tried to use the package from OPAL, which is a little bit smaller, but it would not load for some reason.:(
Thanks for posting the new rom. I know that this rom is faster. after beta release I m going to use this one.. thanks again
NO thanks to you and RoryB for testing the closed betas... I have since found some more things that I have screwed up in the process of cooking, but you both have been very helpful.

WHAT YEAR IS THIS ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
I fixed it :D
Here is a reg for images settings.
Thanks a bunch!! I will get a cab together for a bunch of fixes together and call it a service pack :D My fragile USB port can't handle too much cooking, and I do not want to push it.
screen image ?????
I'll get to it as soon as there is one worthy to be shown. I need to take a heavy hammer to the GFX... so since the GFX and the ROM is still beta, the images inside are beta too.

SVI:
I'm pleased to see that you fixed your MDA and that cornelha's toolkit is working for you.
Do you have any thoughts as to differences between 20931 and 20273? I assume that there are many undocumented bug fixes and optimizations, but have you actually observed anything?
I will flash ANGEL at some point, and I'll try to remember to do some before-and-after benchmarking (from HORNET Manilla 3.8) to see for myself.
Just curious.

When you do the benchmarks let me know the results. It is deffinately a higher build, and it seems faster. The rom is not the HORNET as I started almost from scratch after pillaging Cornelha's rom for packages. It behaves differently...
I POSTED SP1 on second post!

I POSTED SP1 on second post!
FYI: I ran SP1 in 923b and now the wifi starts on the first tap.
Also, the icon shows syncing again - thank you.
I put the image association back to album because I like the way it handles viewing pictures. But that is why we all tweak to our own flavors.
---------------
I just noticed Wireless LAN settings does not show my connection, but Configure Wireless Networks does show I am connected. This could be because I did not update to [01] version.
I won't be able to do that until next week.

Thanks for the ROM S.V.I! I love your ROMs, more than the TNT series :)
I recently tried your Manilla 2D Beta 4.5 ROM, and this ROM, and I'm facing a small problem with them, Manilla 2D doesn't work in landscape mode :(
Every time I go landscape, either it flips back to portrait, or it doesn't resize well to the new position, so, I was wondering, is it a Manilla bug? and is there some work around for it? I really love landscape mode :)

Manila does not really work in landscape. there is a separate program that turns on for landscape and just has a quicklauncher. it is not manila by any means... just works with it.
It is located in the manila thread in the DEV/HACK section... along with a few other very usefull programs you might want to check out.

Wireless LAN settings works great.

I flashed my wizard from BROGHTPHONE to 923_01 SP1 and amazed by the improvement. Thanks a lot S.I.V.!! Improvement in speed and looks.
Three things though:
- I just can't get WLAN to work! The wizard finds all routers possible, trys to connect and ends up with "unavailable". It did work with BRIGHTPHONE and I did install the SP1, what could I have missed?
- Maybe a more cosmetic thing: the red active Manilla button on the bottom of the screen covers the calender function. Any chance you could move up the TouchFlo clock, call history and calender function a bit?
- Another minor observation: The battery bar on top of the screen does not reflect the actual battery power. This is new since I installed this Rom, the bar shows red even though the power is still over 50%.
Everything else seems to work perfectly fine. Did not manage to get my keyboard right back to Swedish, but learned to live with it. All attempts to change the locale in Registry for keyboard did not have any effect.

DID YOU READ ALL 3 POSTS??? The rom does not have SP1 cooked in to it. it is a cab on post 2
"The cosmetic thing" I moved them down on purpose to make room for the clock
The battery mete4r thing I have not noticed. I made the gfx for the battery meter work like a gas gage in a car only in reverse. you should see the fine red line before it tells you to back up your data. This is because I forget to charge it every day and during heavy GPRS usage I drain the battery quickly.
Your keyboard problem can only be solved by having the right MUI files. this is why the registry settings will not work. I do not have these files, and my wizard is a US version so I have no way to test it. The software keyboard from Microsoft that comes with the rom should have these extra characters in the extra characters, but the hardware keyboard is WorldWideEnglish (WWE)
You can also download the ezinput keyboard from the Dev Hacking section as well as a language pack that is apropriate. The keyboard at the bottom of my signature is English Russian ONLY, and is not compatable with other language packs I believe.
Thanks, S.V.I, nice ROM!

That reg setting will not work on angel because the shortcuts are in different places. File explorer is in the start menu, and the sim manager is missing a shortcut. I will add that in.
I will also preload the programs tab next time

Hey, this is great. Even my wife who is afraid of tech stuff is fond of her MDA now. Nice touches and fast. Lots of free memory too. My MDA is on TouchHD right now. I'm comparing the 2. I keep running out of memory on TouchHD though.

I'll take some of the easy ones since I do not know enough to talk about dll files.
\Windows\OK.txt;0;Temporary and Junk Files Empty file probably created by a provixional install cab file. It is 0 bytes. I noticed an ok.b2p image file, so maybe they are related to a program I do not use.
\Windows\cab2_OK.txt;0;Temporary and Junk Files
\Windows\cab3_OK.txt;0;Temporary and Junk Files There are actually 11 cab_ok. txt files. All 0 bytes. I have seen these on every ROM I have installed. I guess it's the nature of the beast.
You could delete these with your file operation xml file.
Hmmm, I wonder if you can use wild cards like CAB*_OK.txt in file operation.
\My Documents\Templates\Blank Note.pwi;0;Temporary and Junk Files
That is a standard template for creating a note that you can sync with Outlook.
There are also 3 .cab files in \Windows:
Opera4Mini4.2Fix.cab
S.V.I.ManilaPeekabooSkin.cab
Templates.cab
These are needed for setting up features in the ROM without taking up a lot of space in the nk.nbf file. Since they are part of the ROM image, you cannot delete them.

You could delete these with your file operation xml file.
This is new for me, would you post a short explanation or give a link to information in the WEB (a brief search in Google doesn't shows reasonable result)?
Thank you!

[QUOTE=S.V.I;3165969]DID YOU READ ALL 3 POSTS??? The rom does not have SP1 cooked in to it. it is a cab on post 2
WiFi works after re-flashing the rom and re-cabbing the SP1 package. Perfect!
"The cosmetic thing" I moved them down on purpose to make room for the clock
Ok, looks still very good anyway, it's just that the calender row is covered a bit. No big thing.
The battery mete4r thing I have not noticed. I made the gfx for the battery meter work like a gas gage in a car only in reverse. you should see the fine red line before it tells you to back up your data. This is because I forget to charge it every day and during heavy GPRS usage I drain the battery quickly.
Yeah, I had to see my battery getting low to understand what you mean with the red vertical line. Pretty nice, thanks.
Sure, software keyboard works, that,s why I don't bother much anymore. But thanks for the tip to get the file from the other sources.

HI, i have not installed the ROM version yet.
If i download the latest version, posted on POST # 3, must i use the SP1? or is it already embedded in the S.V.I-923[01] ?
does [01] means it contains SP1?.
Sorry about the lame post, im not a cooker myself, and my knowledge about this is pretty limited. I dont want to run the SP1 and step over configurations if its not needed.

I will have internet access on my phone, so If you have any questions, I will answer them unless RoryB beats me to it :D

Have a nice trip! I appreciate all of your work.
Well I just started all of this ROM flashing stuff right before this ROM was released.
I loaded that most recent Manila Hornet Beta 4.5 using http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Wizard%20Windows%20Mobile%206%2 0for%20newbies step by step so that is where I stand. My ROM cherry has been popped.
So I ASSume my phone is now always SIM unlocked and CID unlocked moving forward? Maybe I will try that WST to confirm the locking statuses....
I want to go ahead and try this new ROM, but I am not sure on what step to begin. I am confused if I need to go back to that T-mobile ROM or all the way back to Button ROM. I tried to update my sig to show what I have now.
Thanks!

(some already mentioned by others)
BubbleBreaker.exe
solitare.exe
camera.exe
Some others that people might want to know are in this ROM:
Omapclock.exe - I'm not overclocking, but it is there if we wanted to through smartskey
ClearStorage.exe - I think this is something that goes in startup to clear storage after reset
I will have internet access on my phone, so If you have any questions, I will answer them unless RoryB beats me to it
(Thanks so much for looking over the thread) Thank you, I'll do my best to save only the tough ones for you.
Potentially showing my ignorance:
What does autoshortcut.exe do? -- looks like it uses data in a registry key to create shortcuts instead of initfiles
CTTuner.exe - not sure what this is -- oh, clear type setting adjustment
SAPSettings.exe - It's always running. I do not use SAP since I do not have a car with BT, and I cannot figure out how to remove from autostarting

Search for M2D skins or themes, but also look through Hornet pages first. I do not know if SVI is still tweaking M2D from original like he did in Hornet. I think he is not, but I am not positive. Best to do back up first.

I am still tweaking manila for the angel rom.
The digtal clock and the analogue clock are mixed graphics. meaning that if you decide to get rid of the analogue clock, you will need to get a new colon (I still find that funny) the colon graphic for the digtal clock is the clock face for the analogue clock.
best thing to do would be to go check out the manila skins thread for a theme that only has a digital clock.
files in the windows folder can not be deleted. HOWEVER, they can be overwritten via activesync if you disable the program that is using the files you are trying to overwrite.
You can use the DF Task Manager to kill the process. for example if I wanted to change the phone background, I would kill the CPROG.exe before overwriting the .png background. then I would start the phone, and it will have a new background.
Same thing applies to manila.
about the google maps being installed to storage card:
when installing a program to storage card you loose the speed while gaining some space. you also loose some battery life because the running program makes sure that power is being drawn to the active drive (in this case Storage Card) . so not only do you drain poweer quickly, but the program runs slow.
install programs that you use often to main memory. the ones that you do not use often (like pim backup advanced settings dfTaskManager and some others) can run off the storage card.
some programs that are installed to storage card can run standalone. like POCKET-RAR. in fact when you reflash a new rom, the exe still stays on the storage card and as soon as you launch it, all the registry settings get imported. all you need to do then is make a shortcut to the start menu using the file explorer's extended dialogue "send to programs"; or manualy copy, navigate to the windows/startmenu/programs/tools and paste the shortcut.

I use DevTools and stop M2D and then copy the new files. I used to go to settings\personal\today items and uncheck touchFLO, but DevTools is quicker since I have disable M2D on my launcher.

Firstly Brilliant ROM been flashing various roms for two years now and this is the most stable and fastest rom i think i have ever come across.
What i want to know is if there is a way of changing the ok/minimise button graphic to one of my choosing? I have looking in the windows directory for the graphic but cannot locate it?
S.V.I
22nd January 2009, 01:31 PM
it is not possible to change that to a graphic of your choosing. it is a 2bit bitmap that lives inside ashelres.dll
it is only two colors: transparent and solid (white or whatever registry says)
I made it to be as large as possible. If you have a better design post it here and I will consider changing it. just make sure it is only two colors.

just wondering how to make the digital clock bigger.
First you could find a M2D theme with digital clock you like, or if you only want to change digital clock...
Digital clock is made up of image files in /windows/manilaGFX folder as hh_hm_digit_#.png. You would have to edit them to make them bigger and edit HTCHomeSettings.xml to fix the placement with wider spacing for the bigger number images. Not easy, but not impossible.

Good so far using version 02. One thing, by default the settings tab is not activated. I activated it using the M2DC to activate it. I use the sound profile and the only way I know of activating it is through the settings tab.

I am really happy that you like how I customised this rom. I hope that you will find it as compact and as usefull as I have. The whole point is less programs, more function. Which is why I started customising my phone in the first place.
Audio manager needs to be installed for the music tab in Manila to work propperly. Keep in mind that while audio manager is running you loose about 2mb RAM. this is the main reason I did not include that in the rom. Why let it run when you are not using it?
Good so far using version 02. One thing, by default the settings tab is not activated. I activated it using the M2DC to activate it. I use the sound profile and the only way I know of activating it is through the settings tab.
Curious, why the change on the internet tab? I mean, why have internet explorer as the default instead of Opera mini? Opera Mini is a much better surfing experience IMO.
Thanx again for a great work.
Settings tab: is not activated for 2 reasons. One is that since the walpaper has to be changed with M2DC (for all tabs) the walpaper tab in settings does nothing. Two, I have no idea how the sound profiles thing is supposed to work. I do not use the calendar to set any appointments and thus have no purpose to turn my phone silent even for a movie that I can't afford to spend 12 bucks to see. So I have no way of testing it. Furthermore, I believe that tab is useless because most of us are used to using a PC or a MAC. the structure of that tab as well as it's usefulness is bizzare to me and my effort to use my phone as a pocket "Computer" keeping my laptop on my desk.
Feel free to enable it using M2DC if you find it usefull though.
Internet tab was changed so that I could put a direct link for rom Support and updates. Unfortunately I can not incorporate having that link be opened by OperaMini without mortscript (dumb of me); also that makes the internet tab more usefull as it has a link to OperaMini built in to it as well. So now you have two functioning browsers in one tab.
Master S.V.I., will you release a Windows 6.5 ROM? :) ;)
Probably not any time soon. I have looked at the 6.5 that CRACING put out. So far it seems stable, but some things confuse me. saw some isssues that I have never seen before concerning power management and Gmail. That new honeycomb menu that was promised is also absent. I have not seen any benefit of that system over the one that is currently running on Angel. Everytime I start a new rom I have to drop everything clean out the kitchen before I make another mess and get confused in the process.
I might put together a non manila but an internet explorer edition in the coming weeks with Flash. it is almost useless with GPRS as well as wifi, but the browsing capabilities are pretty cool. maybe I will just make a browser edition... not enough space in the wizard to incorporate evrything unfortunately.
Using version 02...

As I said a few paragraphs up, the sound profiles confuse the hell out of me and I have no way to test it.
It is not in my manual that came from tmobile :) so I never learned how to use it. Maybe you can tell me exactly how it is supposed to work (in a sequince) so that I can test it next time. I really have had no experience where I needed to use that option. really.

I set camera button to rotate screen for jumping between portrait and landscape view. I'll just create a link with file explorer.
I see, the welcomehead works as a phantom. I also see a hint of what looks like diamonds in the wallpaper, especially on the quickmenu. Very nice. As I said before, I like your work and artwork.
I guess the "New Large Menu" HTC came out with is supposed to be "finger friendly. I'd rather use the d-pad and have a cleaner menu too.
The sound profiles when set to automatic switches your phone to vibrate whenever you have an appointment for the duration of the appointment.

are you talking about update 22?
I dont know if it has been hex edited yet.
You should just be able to take all of the exe/dll and replace it via activesync (have to disable manila first).
the rgu can just be renamed to reg and imported normaly.
most likely the reason it does not work is that it needs to be hex edited. it has nothing to do with it being cooked as al of the files had their readonly atribites stripped.
Im in the process of moving at the moment. I will try to see if this new manila works on the wizard tonight when I am "done" unpacking the cars. However I doubt that it works due to that hex editing issue.

I downloaded the OEM package and read the rgu of the footprints folder. It has in it. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\HTCGeoservice]
"DontShowAgreement"=dword:00000000
"GPSSignalStrength"=dword:00000000
Also, the help html has
Create a footprint
After opening Footprints, tap the category you want your new footprint to be in, and tap Menu > New. The viewfinder screen is shown, and the device's GPS starts to look for your geographical position. The GPS signal strength is indicated by the bars at the bottom left of the screen. The more blue bars that are shown, the stronger the signal, and the quicker your position will be found.
To take a photo of your current location, press the ENTER button. Your photo is then displayed.
Note: If your GPS position has not been found yet and Google Maps is available, you can choose whether to find the position on Google Maps, continue the GPS search, or stop the GPS search.
3. To add more information about the location, tap any of the following icons:
Retake the photo
Retry the GPS positioning search if your location was not found, or update your current position
Find your position on Google Maps (if available)
Add a voice recording
Add location information such as name, phone number, and address
4. To save the footprint, tap Save.

I really have had no experience where I needed to use that option. really.
I'm using Version 02...
OK. The automatic sound profile should turn the sound to vibrate during an appointment and return it to the previous state once the appointment is over. Nothing more. Testing it is easy.
Test #1
1. Turn sound profile to automatic from the Manilla 2D settings tab (sound/automatic)
2. Create an appointment with a duration of 1 min or 2 min
3. During the appointment the Wizard should go into vibrate mode (visibly seen by the icon change and physically felt by calling the phone it should not ring, but vibrate).
4. After the appointment the volume icon should display the speaker instead of a vibrating pda. Call phone. You should hear ringtone.
5. Test #1 over.
FYI. I just ran test #1 and it failed. It never went into vibrate mode.
Test #2
1. Repeat steps 1 - 2 above
2. During the appointment go to sound opiton from Manilla 2D setting tab. See if the icon changes to nonvibrate, if it does there is a problem.
3. Test #2 over.
BTW If you use your phone during work and have meetings that you schedule using the PDA's calendar then automatic profile sound mode is a welcome feature since you don't have to remember to change the sound profile each time (espcially if you have a lound ring tone LOL)

Hi RoryB
You are right. It may require builtin gps but don't know about external. Anway, you can disabled footprints tab in home......xml. I did samething in my CR86 THD ROM.
Another two problems :
1. Rightsoftkey in home screen is changed from programs to camera.
Solution : M2DC has a option to change the home screen softkeys. It can also be added to rgu while cooking :
Example : SK1 = left softkey and SK2 = right softkey
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila2D\Home]
"SK1CmdParam"=""
"SK1Cmd"=""
"SK1"=""
"SK2CmdParam"=""
"SK2Cmd"="\\Program Files\\GoogleMaps\\GoogleMaps.exe"
"SK2"="GoogleMaps"
2. Location button in settings tab is not working or it opens nothing.
Solution : Did not found........

Sound Profile worked perfectly for me! ...and I'm glad it works, because I rely on that feature heavily, to keep me from embarrassing myself with a stupid ringer while I'm in a serious business meeting...
...R2D2, Damn You for sounding so amusing, and for exposing my nerd-ness!!!
Freshly loaded S.V.I-923[02] ANGEL, and installed S.V.I ANGELS-P1.cab because it was unclear whether or not I needed this with version 2. Made no other modifications other than to install a custom ring in \\Windows\Rings (I actually use the Oldring from WM5...I like the sound of a phone to come from my phone, but I do set it really freakin' loud, which tends to alarm those sitting near me, in meetings).

Ah, thanks for the clarification. Yes, it appears everything that I use (including WiFi and sound profiles) is working. I don't use music or picture tabs, though...I prefer other apps to manage those media (Pocket XNView and MortPlayer).

heres an update to what I am doing with the angel rom so far.
I have to compress a lot of the images in manila. the package is twice as big as the old manila that I compressed. (so far I have only 2mb to get rid of, my old package was less than 4mb.. this one is almost 6mb)
this also means that while I am working so much on the gfx I may as well make a new theme.
I found a starbucks! this means that I may be able to upload a new version once I get it finished (may take a while)
have not gotten footprints or location button to work.
the sound profile issue can be solved by setting the ringtone through the file explorer. if some people have problems with it, that should work.
thats all I have for now.
Cracing, thanks for taking an interest in this thread.
I think that if you dump my rom you will find some newer dlls and exes, just as I found in yours. ;)

After installation of original blue default skin, I have 24 mb free program memory. Before instalation I had 17 mb. It seems to me that everything works well, where is the catch?
I found the original blue default skin on: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425974 at the end of the 4th post in m2dct format

original manila skin: ONLY 24?! the old skin i sometimes got 27 after reset :P
after you instlled the new (old) skin manila restarted.. and cleared the ram. If you do a soft reset with the old skin, you will get the same results.
the ram continues to climb due to album searcher and mail. these things are running in the background after you set u your mail and activate the photo tab. If you set your device to download emails automaticaly, tmail.exe continues to run -NoUI (no user interface). this is included in the registry for manila (and probably coded into the exe itself as most things are). this memory leak continues to plague me.
I use pocket artis a lot. it helps me make sketches for the themes that I use; as well as screenshots that I make. because it works like layers in photoshop, I end up running out of ram (see hornet screenshots). So when I see a flaw with the ram performance on my device I take it very seriously: which is why my skins for manila as well as the keyboard (in my signature) have such simplified and compressed graphics.
I have taken it one step further and eliminated duplicate graphics in the xml. for example, the internet highlights are the same graphics as the ones in the settings tabs and gmail. duplicate masks that have the same gfx (mail messaging arrows etc) have had their names changed in the xml so that it only opens one file instead of 3 or more. the background file in manila is the same in all the tabs, and the extra backgrounds in gmaps tab have also been removed as they serve no purpose.
so this is what I recomend you to do: take all of the files in my theme and compare it to the files in the original theme. you will see that the size of the package is nearly half that of the original theme with fewer files. It was the only way I was able to cook it into the rom and still have a full working office.
I also made it so that you can install new themes and eliminate garbage (you can uninstall most of the manila theme under remove programs) for those who have different esthetics.
On the "yotaphone app"
I have not downloaded the 8mb cab yet. have to been able to download it with OM or PIE. been to busy to use internet sharing with my laptop. Due to the size of the package (unless I can compress it like the keyboard and manila) I may not be able to fit it in. anxious to try it though. :)

Yes, you are completely right. After restoring your skin I have 1MB more memory. After a day of intensive use (internet, maps, e-mail etc) still have a 25MB free program memory.
Yet I wonder why before installing the "old" and "new" skin I did not have this important increase in memory even I soft reset the device and disable/enable m2d several times.

Two thumbs up for this ROM. Fast and has more program memory. but i have one problem and it seems all m2d Roms has this problem. Moblue seems to not work well in m2d. I use moblue coz im often use BT connectivity. Im dealing with large size of files and we know that the built-in BT function stores the recieve files in Phone memory, moblue can save the BT recieved files to memory card directly. the problem is that the built-in BT function recieves the file not moblue thus saving it to phone memory. So its like it overrides the moblue program. Is there a way to stop the built-in BT and use moblue instead? Sorry for my english :D

You can change where the file gets beamed. I had mine beamed to storage card. BT explorer has to be enabled, and the folder needs to be set.
It is possible to recieve files to storage card.
Hope that helps.
I will see what registry settings do that at some point once I am finished otimizing manila for the next rom. I will be done soon as I figured out how to construct image files to take up even less space (and ram)!!! even transparent ones :)
so as soon as I am done with that I will try to get BT explorer enabled and set to storage card. I have to ask for your patience though until I get to it.

They were sharper looking images, but larger files. I did a save-as jpg file which reduced the size and then renamed the file to png. You have to open it with your png editor and reset the transparent parts.
The file could not be opened with the viewer in the phone, but it worked in the phone within S2U2.

Hello SVI,
Thanks for your great job on Angel 2. I read all the good stuff about Hornet and Angel (all the dozens and dozens of pages) and decided to go for it. Pretty new to flashing ROM's, but I must say that it's worth the "risk" (having newby nerves of bricking my device).
So, I hope you will continue your good work, and even more: I hope you found a job already! As soon as I found one (thank you financial crisis), I will make a donation. After all, I planned on replacing my MDA but now, thanks to Angel 2, decided to keep it at least one more year.
One question, although it might be the wrong subforum: How would one show any non-m2dc/Touchflo information on the today screen (like batterystatus, or a link to lock my device)?

I just flashed to this rom (v2) and so far everything's fast and stable. Nice work.
I had a question about the MyFaves widget. Is this functional, does it work?I opened M2DC Tabs settings and checked the box for MyFavesWidget then hit Apply. The phone goes back to main sreen and tries to Launch TouchFlo but fails and says Tap Here to Launch TouchFlo. Every time I tap again it tries to Launch TouchFlo but doesn't and goes back to say Tap here to Launch... To fix this, i have to go back to M2DC and uncheck the MyFavesWidget and then TouchFlo launches fine.
If there is a way to make the MyFaves tab work, that would be awesome....instead of changing my MyFaves on tmobile.com.
After a search, I found this answer: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3199918
Can anyone answer why there's an option for MyFavesWidget even though Manilla doesn't support it?

This is a tough one. Everyone has their own choices.
I use the following on my phone. Some are built in and others I have installed:
word, excel
don't have one note on PC so have not used it on phone
all PIM features
notepad
onecalc
microsoft reader - especially for the dictionary and foreign laguage translation
Wolf's Translator - recently found and trying out
Total Commander - lets you edit small reg, xml & txt files
latest google maps
UCWEB6 - it seems to work the best for me
transcriber - I write better than I type or tap-type
S2U2 - nice screen lock to avoid pocket calls
M2DC - to customize M2D, I don't use very many tabs. Only home, email, weather, settings, launcher and now started using action tab (I call it Quick Start). It lets me have another launcher tab for ciclebt, accessing VC control panel, starting new email, appointments or tasks, and a shortcut to an excel file that is my timesheet.
Citrix Client - to access company data
MS Voice Command - only while driving otherwise it is off to have more RAM
CicleBT - to cycle bluetooth on and off
Adobe PDF 2.5 diamond version
Manila DevTools to cycle off M2D for more RAM to get better performance while using some programs

Someone else addressed program memory, so I'll tackle storage memory. Download ClearTemp (http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-cleartemp-v1-0.html) and use it to dump a lot of crap that Windows (yes, even Windows Mobile) collects over time. You need to just run this from time to time, or else your phone will start slowly choking itself to death on temp files and cached junk.
Also consider using UPX4PPC (http://www.pocketpcfreeware.com/en/index.php?soft=1524) to compress your installed apps and dlls. You can't compress stuff in the \Windows folder, but pretty much anything else is fair game.

For a keyboard, you should try this app: http://www.pocketcm.com/keyboard2.php
For other programs, I really like the way things are broken down at PocketPCFreeware. You can sort everything by rating or number of downloads. Very handy if you've no idea what you want to use your PPC for, yet.

WOW I missed a lot.
Keyboard is in my signature. I optimised it for our wizards with graphics that take less ram and storage space. its the keyboard I use.
memory issue has to deal with the mail and application(s) running in the background like weather syncing album searcher and so on. it mostly has to do with mail and activesync. (both MS programs)
I have version 3 running on mine right now. it is not finished yet. discovered some things about pixel composition of gfx files that affects even more space and processing speed. (its amazing what a pixel can do!)
GFX is the very thing that keeps my rom speedy with all the programs installed believe it or not. if I made a seriously graphics intensive manila skin it would be a lot slower.
so far I have optimized the new version of manila and the skin, as well as a new skin for the stock dialer (loads instant)
I plan to remove FOOTPRINTS TAB. it is useless in the wizards due to the lack of GPS. that will take some time.
I have also removed the backgrounds out of the .TSK to save some space. now it just does the flat bars and color scheme and the background does not change. it weighs very little since the only contens are registry settings.
this manila is a little bit bigger than the last one and apparently when I switched from hornet to angel I lost some important files and reg's to make the settings tab work. the whole tab is pretty much useless. (so profiles do not work)
unfortunately these days I am so busy trying to get my life in order (from unemployment, medicare, taxes, citizenship, moving, therapy) that I have no time for cooking... or jumping to a higher build.. especialy to winmo6.5. So I am sorry that I have not released V3 yet. I will when I get a chance. I may not tackle all of the above problems, but in a few days or so I will upload what I have so far. Tomorrow I will have internet at my family's new home.. so maybe by monday I will release A3.
Untill then, may the universe be with us all. :)

Even smaller sounds great.
I have read in the help.html file that it should let you use google maps if it cannot connect to a GPS, but I have not gtten it to work. So I too have unchecked it in M2DC.
I ran UPX and greatly reduced the file size and it has not had an effect on program speed or RAM space taken.
I have the settings tab working. See this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3306655&postcount=6011
Let me know if you cannot get the files.
Also, I'll be glad to beta or alpha test your next version.

S.V.I , your keyboard in signature doesn't have russian. And could you add "Advance config" into your great ROM?
YES IT DOES!!! :)
I use it all the time to write my sister!
you need to find the language options in the options (the little arrow next to the keyboard symbol on the bottom bar)
you have the option to select the input type,
then you see another button [options...]
after you tap that you have the choice to select language and t9 settings.
It is unfortunate that there is no direct button on the keyboard it self, and you have to jump through hoops to change the language.
I deal with it simple: I leave the keyboard in Russian, and use the hardware keyboard for English.
there is also an older version of the keyboard from HTC Touch; on 4pda.ru (which is where I got the original 5mb cab that I shrank down to 1.5 because it was just too big and too slow. You can try that one if you need quicker access to change language.

Like I said, I use that keyboard all the time. and it is the same keyboard in my sig. so check the settings for input in the personal settings.
I got the original keyboard from 4PDA.ru (you can only log in in russian) and since getting that cab I just optimized it by getting rid of all the other languages, cleaned up the reg, and downgraded the graphics so that they would take up less space.
so if the russian comunity wants the keyboard they have two options:
1: get it from the russians like I did, or
2: figure out how to make it convenient to switch this one. it works for me within 30 sec.
I would list the complete directions on switching the languages, but I just dropped my phone in the snow a couple of minutes ago and it is currently drying.

I have found that sometimes it takes a few tries to get WiFi to start.
Sometimes a soft reset and then a few tries.
What I have noticed is that after that first time of taking a few tries, it works fine for many times later. Then all of a sudden it acts up again. I have not figured out the cause.
BTW, I do not use WiFi very much since I have not traveled much lately.

I know that the new QM (quickmenu) does not recognize wifi unless it is turned on my the commanager.
once you activate wifi for the first time using the standard commanager (via the hardware button) it should work.
but please note that you will most likely have to tap the button twice.
as far as the keyboard thing that you are talking about, i am not sure what you mean. I will folow the link once they replace the fiberoptic line in my neighborhood somewhere and I get connected on line once again.

as for those out there, do you notice a big difference between angel vs hornet? i'm stuck on hornet for the moment and i'm just curious.I have been following SVI through several of his ROMs. I feel each one has improved on the previous.
I like the graphics and interface of the M2D versions better even though I do not use many of the tabs.
SVI said he is working on an Angel 3 but unless it is coming very soon I suggest you switch over to start getting a feel for what you like or don't in M2D.
Here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3348798&postcount=127)is what I am running.

I have gone through each along the way from Hornet 4 to beta M2D to Angel so I cannot remember, but I think it is faster and smoother.
RAM ranges from 16 to 18 after a while of using since latest reset.
It goes to 24 to 25 right after a reset.
I use ManilaDevTools to stop M2D to get more RAM to run IE, etc.
Also, I only use Voice Command when driving so I have that RAM the rest of the time.
Currently trying to learn .NET to program a toggle to start VoiceCmd and bluetooth, and then turn both off when I am done driving.

You don't have to downgrade but it is recommended to do so. It's up to you.
Angel v2 has touch flo, manilla 2d & a bunch of other stuffs that you can see at the first page of the thread.
For my personal taste SVI's Roms are way better than TNT's. But this is something that you must find out yourself.

So I finished Angel 3:
Updated manila. optimized it and put all the gfx into a CAB file that installs during customizations. sorry that it takes so long, but it is the file count that does it.
Changed all of the file atributes to hidden, and took off the read only.
You could try to add weather cities in the xml
as you can see by the screenshot, I moved the call history\voicemail\calendar buttons 10pxl down and left; to make more room for the clock. I also moved the tab widget (the botom tab switcher) 10 pixels down, and enabled it to work in landscape. Weather also works in landscape.
I made QM to have smaller "buttons" it is finger friendly enough.
Updated a few other things.
Will update more when I can. Please test. I need a new list of things to fix. changing over the manila made me forget everything else I had to do. that was too much work.

I just installed A2 yesterday and I love it but there are two problems,
1. Music tab doesn't work.
2. The battery indicator bar (line) keeps going up and down.
Have these issues been addressed in the A3 version?

music tab will not work without audio manager. that has been discussed. I disabled it because of lack of space, and it takes 2mb of ram while running in the background. You can enable it using M2DC. also the audio manager is bundled with A3.
The "Battery Indicator Line" is actualy a RAM indicator. It is put there for you to know when memory gets criticaly low; and lets you know to kill programs or reboot.
Google maps has been updated. there is a download link in PIE Favorites (see screenshot). because it gets updated pretty regularly it is not cooked into the rom.
I recomend updating to A3 if only for the new reworked manila. among other things it has been optimized further. should also be a little bit faster and smoother.
enjoy.

Thanks.
At first boot around 25-26mb. When I started installing programs (a lot of them are starting at the device boot) around 24-25mb. After some hours of usage it drops at 18mb. This depends at the programs that you are using.
I have flashed a lot of Roms but always S.V.I's have the most free memory.
S.V.I you have done great work with the Windows folder. At every other Rom of other cookers it took me about 15sec to get access to the Windows folder. At your Rom it took me about 3sec  .-

Notes on your TO DO:
Recorder is broken again; Works for me through notes and select to see the recorder bar. I do not use it normally so I may be missing something.
Streaming Media might not play youtube; I do not use this
“FTP Bluetooth” shortcut in Settings/Connections does not work; Worked for me on the first tap.
“Wireless Lan” in Settings/Connections does not start on the first tap; It takes two tries the first time, but later started on the first try. Sometimes other programs, settings, or trying to go to an active program through quick menu takes two tries too.

Thanks samxein
Have now installed and running really well. It is the first MD2 that I have installed and had previously noted the general comments about speed but no problems here with this ROM. Very smooth and generally responsive. Have been playing with it for 24 hours and very pleased. I list a few observations below but in the grand scheme of things they are minor and generally provided for information purposes.
I ran MD2, TomTom 6 and Media Player for a while no problems.
I do like Quick Menu, I was missing the running programs list from my old ROM, smartkeys feature I think and then I found Quick Menu.
Memory use after install is about 24 m/bytes for program and 40 m/bytes for storage.
I ran mymobiler from Vista and it reports the version on the mobile needs updating.
my mobiler v1.0 build 70821.010 on pda
my mobiler v1.23 build 80505.025 on PC, Vista compatible.
Ran the install option bringing it up to date and working fine.
Maybe update the Angel sometime. :)
M2D Music tab displays an error. "cannot play the file. format not supported..." Clear error dialog and the Media Player opens OK. Is this related to the comment at post 83 that says Audio manager is needed.
Hold the record button (Button 4 hold) and a "shortcut" dialog opens. "Error opening the shortcut or locating the target filename." I think that this by default usually opens the "notes" program but it is not listed in the available programs in the Button setup program so cannot be selected. The Note program runs fine from Programs and as mentioned records OK.
A single press to run the recorder does not start the recorder, also clicking Recorder in programs does not run.
Noticed a strange thing with the Camera, probably nothing to do with this particular build. If I Enable Network Plug-in then when in the tools section of Camera and wanting to set the place to store photos it offers Main Memory and Network rather than Main Memory and Storage Card. Probably not specific to this ROM, some Mobile 6 strangeness.
I did have one crash when checking out TomTom 6 and NoniGPSPlot. These work fine when set up to read the BT GPS directly but thought that I would try out the External GPS setup where both apps should have been able to share the one GPS unit, after messing for a while I had to reset using the stylus. Again, probably not specific to this ROM build but mentioned for information. I have not tried to reproduce as yet.
Have not got WST to run fully as yet but that may be a Vista thing. I installed the ROM on XP for safety. :)
Thanks for your efforts. makes my Wizard feel born again. :D

I've installed A3 after trying Angel 2 (and more than a dozen other ROMs), and I'm impressed: It's quick, compact, functional and visually nice. Congratulations and thank you, S.V.I. - that's quite a masterpiece!
I've also noticed a few issues:
1. On one occasion, the device got stuck on the third flash screen (with S.V.I.'s bar codes) after a soft reset. It didn't even respond to the power button, and I had to pull out the battery; the device then booted properly. No problems on other soft resets.
2. I've observed the same issues as on the previous post:
-M2D Music tab displays an error. "cannot play the file. format not supported..." Clear error dialog and the Media Player opens OK.
-Hold the record button (Button 4 hold) and a "shortcut" dialog opens. "Error opening the shortcut or locating the target filename."
3. I've added Opera 8.6, ClearTemp and Mortplayer. All work fine under Manila. However, Opera 9 crashes.
Question:
Did anybody try to activate VoIP with this ROM? I'd love to have it...
Advice to those who have problems with Wi-Fi: Try to shut down your GSM connection, especially GPRS, before surfing. Yes, you'll be unable to receive calls while you're surfing; but you'll be rewarded with a faster and more problem-free Wi-Fi connection.
Many thanks, guys!

Yes, the side reset button.
I had it occur again and the reset did not work, had a thought and disconnected the USB cable and tried again and it worked. May be related.
VoIP. I tried out skype using a WiFi connection, it works but with a little breakup. It has been mentioned before that the Wizard performance is a limiting factor when running Skype the suggestion being to overclock in order to get good results.
I see that Omapclock defaults to 180, I have previously used Battery Status which includes Omap software that ups the cpu clock on demand. Might play with that sometime.
Talking of WiFi. Have had a couple of problems with WiFi, it can get itself into an undefined state where from the Comms Manager it cannot be turned on or off.
The switch will go black but then not blue and then it cannot be enabled at all. One time I went into the settings|wireless LAN and turned i ton from there but could then not turn it off using the Comm Manager and had to power off using the power switch.

VoIP: I meant the native VoIP. It works on some ROMs, and it doesn't work on others. I'm curious if anybody tried the native VoIP with Angel?...
OmapClock: The version built into Angel doesn't remember the value set by the user, and resets it to the default of 180 when the device is off. So, it's fairly useless.
WiFi: I don't have problems with it except for occasional need to click twice. So, perhaps there is some interaction with additional programs you're using.

Go to \windows\startup and select smartskey. Accept closing smartskey program. Go to \windows and edit smartskey.ini by using total commander or copying it to your PC. Search for OMAP in the file and remove the comment marker ";" and set the clock speed you want. Copy back to your phone. Click \windows\smartskey. It does not state it has started, but it should. You can confirm it has started by selecting it again, it will ask if you want to close it and you can select no.
Now whenever you reset, smartskey will restart OMAP when it restarts itself.
Whenever you decide to change the clock speed, you will need to edit smartskey.ini to this new speed.

WiFi: I don't have problems with it except for occasional need to click twice. So, perhaps there is some interaction with additional programs you're using.
I am now thinking that the problem is only seen when the active sync connection is present. Yes, although it is redundant to run active sync and WiFi at the same time, with WM5 it would run and I could check out stuff like peekpocket but it looks like with WM 6 it results in a conflict. Have been checking this stand alone for a day or so and not repeated in "normal" use. :)
So I think my earlier bug report re. WiFi can be ignored.
Regarding VoIP, RoryB provided the link below in order to obtain a Transcriber install, also there is a VoIP install for the TNT ROM. Might be worth a try.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=366878
Edit, there is an option here for setting the CPU clock speed that works a little like the Battery Status version, which ramps the speed up and down dependent on CPU load. OMAPClockKeep runs the CPU clock at a max and idle setting.

refer to the manila 2D customizer thread in develoement and hacking. also the manila 2D skins thread. you can also take the "manilaGFX" folder from windows and copy that to your PC. edit files with photoshop. make sure you save them in the same format they came in. copy the files to the manila gfx folder. that should do it.
If you want the original theme you can find the cab in the windows folder. (that only has files for the manila gfx folder and not the files in windows; those have to remain in windows for some of the tabs to work.)

M2DC changing themes: You also might want to make a safe copy of the current HTCHomeSettings.xml since I think it might get changed by M2DC and you could lose the original theme.

Many thanks, RoryB - that's very useful. What's the max speed you tried with this ROM? With other ROMs, I've seen anything from 200 to 230M. Some would freeze at their max rate, and it was quite difficult to unfreeze them...
Another detail: I noticed that the left-side slider in this ROM always works as volume control. In many other WM6 and WM6.1 ROMs, it activates scrolling in certain applications such as Contacts and web browsers. Do you by chance know how to make it behave so?...
Many thanks,
LK

Many thanks, Mick. This is promising. Pls post results of your experiments - may be useful for many of us.
It's amazing how fast people in your link are driving their Wizards. I've never been able to go that fast without freezing....
I'll also try to experiment when I'll get back home (I'm traveling right now...).
OMAPClockKeep runs the CPU clock at a max and idle setting.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=479640
I will give this a try soonish.

I do not use overclock. I have been happy with it as is. Also, I heard overclocking uses more battery life and I want the battery to last as long as possible.
That feature is part of smartskey. Go to the \windows folder and click smartskey.exe and accept stopping it. Then edit smartskey.ini with Total Commander or similar, or copy it to your PC. The ini file has explanations in it how to set clockspeed for reboot as well as how to change the function of the slider and softkeys.
Copy smartskey.ini back in to \windows folder and click smartskey.exe. Remember, it does not say it is starting it just starts.

I read further about OMAPClockKeep and find that it has one speed while the wizard is active and another when it is sleeping which is good I guess but as RoryB comments running a higher clock speed all the time the device is active may hit the battery harder and being constantly high may be stressful on the electronics, certainly some have mentioned that the temperature rise is noticeable when running long term at a higher clock speed.
Myself with the previous ROM I set the upper speed to 236 or so which gives about a 20% speed boost and does help with say TomTom when planning routes and when it recalculates when changing route. The lower speed being set to 140 which allegedly will improve battery life if the phone spends some significant period of time sleeping.
I have done some searches for Batterystatus running with Manilla2D and found the following solution.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2726238&postcount=940
The poster recommends that BatteryStatus is adequate for the task rather than its replacement HomeScreen++, BS comes with many other features including signal strength, memory usage, battery temperature, battery load and a host of other things. It looks like only HomeScreen++ is now available at the authors site at http://www.chi-tai.info/cs_batterystatus_xda_neo_wm5_im_cs.htm.
I have found a version of batterystatus for download at http://www.4shared.com/file/56844591/4c7543e5/Battery_Status_104.html?err=no-sess
I might try this scheme out tomorrow (Thursday).
M2D Music tab displays an error. "cannot play the file. format not supported..." Clear error dialog and the Media Player opens OK. Is this related to the comment at post 83 that says Audio manager is needed.
Any feedback available on this, I would rather not add the Audio Manager if there is another fix in order to save program memory.
Edit: BatteryStatus is now running using the above link for instructions and with a little setting up does the job. I use the CPUScaler option and also enable Taskbar Indicator. The current speed is displayed albeit a little crowded tucked under the Volume icon. Selecting it opens a menu giving access to options.

As the link above states this is just the nbf file. you will need a flashing utility to flash it. (can find it with he A3 download)
The "B" stands for beta. I fixed manila skin, overclocked to 216; set the weather to not download on auto; menu/window animations; new grey tsk (like TWOLF's idea) New manila clock gfx unlike any other skin you will find
Gmaps have been updated to 3.0.0.0.12 (download it via favorites) this is why I do not cook it in anymore.
Let me know what you think as soon as you can so I can release the final.
Happy flashing

before you flash, copy the old smartskey.ini out of your device and replace the one in the new rom. or just copy and edit the one in the rom.

As I mentioned before I ran BatteryStatus with the SecondToday screen and it runs OK although when being woken the CPU speed is 195 rather than a lower value whereas I would expect it to be lower, probably a setting somewhere. The battery life was really hit dropping to 50% in just a few hours so have removed it for the moment. Will play a little more when I have time.
I checked with the task manager and nothing seemed particularly active, the most active program being the Active Sync killer but that, of course, was already in place before I added BatteryStatus.
While looking for BatteryStatus to download I came across a program called Vistahide Battery Gauge which complements very nicely the Memory gauge on the Task bar in the Angel. The exe file in the attached zip needs to be copied to the wizard, I copied it to the Windows folder and then placed a shortcut in the Startup folder

I tried the CAB that I listed earlier that did this same fix for another HTC device and it adds the various shortcuts and registry entries but it then caused problems with the Buttons setup app, the buttons were no longer listed. :)
But it does look like some shortcuts and registry entries may be needed. Strangely the actual record app hotvoice.exe does not run when clicked on directly so may also need some registry settings.
The recorder in Notes does record OK but have no idea if this uses hotvoice.exe, I tried to see using the taskmanager but every time I switched to the task manager the recorder in Notes automatically switches off. :)

hotvoice.exe only runs when it is attached to a press-and-hold button (ie, as long as the button is pressed it will run, when the button is released it will stop). That is the intended functionality of hotvoice.exe (hence the "hot" in hotvoice.exe).

well crying is over n since the milks already been spilt so heres my take on angel 4 so far havent really found a problem, memory is awesome, the recording button ofcourse is still on the fritz like already been noted, theme is agian a major plus point
there is jus one thing i hope ud think about maybe adding a rssfeed reader? Its not tht big of an issue installing it an all but its just something tht looks so much better when its built in like in craken's rom.

That is what is not working, when holding the button that is or indeed a momentary push.
But I was also curious that it also did not run when simply selected. The shortcut includes the switch /q when the button 4 is held and no switch in the shortcut for when it is momentarily pressed. I am guessing "q" is for quiet, that is, going straight to record rather than opening the app to wait for user input. I am using the CAB that I referenced earlier for the details of the shortcuts and registry entries.
I have not as yet worked through all the linkages of shortcuts and registry settings involved but I am a little curious in normal times as to why it will run from a momentary push -> shortcut but not from explorer. Something to investigate. :)
For the moment I might just link Notes into the momentary push on button 4.
This little issue aside, the ROM (version A3) is working great.

I put in HTC recorder just in case the ms one did not work. (I would rather get the stock one working because it takes less space......
Never mind. Fixed the recorder.:D
I also fixed the clock in today screen. You can now have a space where you can tap the screen if it should turn off on you,.. without opening the clock settings.
This one is not overclocked. eats too much power.
I also added Pocket RAR and associated it with RAR and ZIP files
You can now change the background with MS-PIMG for the today/Home tab; However you still need to use M2DC to change the background in the rest of the tabs. Make sure you backup the original background png in \Windows\ManilaGFX folder.
Please let me know what you think. is there anything broken? It's hard for me to keep up and remember everything I need to do with this thing.

1. WiFi in CommManager
2. Quickmenu to switch from the M2D back to a currently running program

The animation you added looks interesting. Seems to mimic the program opening from a small box that grows to the program window and then shrinks from the program window and disappears after the program closes.
I sure wish I could change the phone softkey on M2D Home to show up as notification when I have one. It would be a lot easier to pick that instead of the little icon at the topbar. I know this is a M2D issue, but just whining for a moment.

I'm not sure what is up with the double tap issue. my guess is that it has to do with htc settings dll's. I had that issue once before in hornet long ago. I replaced the dll's and everything worked fine. it could also be that I am missing registry settings and the dll's are registering them selves. it could also be the manila build.

I am not having battery drain issue. Been using phone all day since 7:30 am and now about 55% left.
Here are two blank extended ROMs that I have used in the past. (will not upload for some reason)
I currently have the original Cingular ExtROM on my phone since I have not installed a ROM with one.
I have not done anything to unhide extROM or even look at it in Total Commander.
@SVI, do you think you get even better battery performance if you go to completely blank ROM?
S.V.I
25th March 2009, 11:46 PM
it has nothing to do with the blank rom.
it is a device power issue.
from what I have gathered: If you unlock/unhide the extended rom it treats the extended rom as a storage device and does not turn off the power for it.
the more phisical devices you have running, (BT/WiFi/Storage card/etc.) the more power it drains. this is why I only install programs to the main device and not storage card.
The next time I make a rom it will have a blank ext_rom to make sure that the extended rom is not corrupted.
If you have not downloaded a rom with with extended rom (or installed something from one) you should be fine.
