Hey, I was wondering if anyone knew how to enlarge the softkey menus like they were in the past ROM. I missed the large softkey menus. Also does anyone know how to make the landscape menu bigger.

Did you try disabling call waiting, saving the settings and re-enabling it?
Set and re-set it this morning, we'll see how it does during the day.
Thanks!
I just had this beeping noise in my ear!!! It's BACK!
Thanks again.

Start>Tools>Advanced Config>User Interface>Popup menu font size
That should take care of the popup softkey menus. Not sure about the start menu though.

Hey guys I have a fuze running Natf's latest 4.4 rom. I had the hardSpl from this forum. I had to send back my old phone for warranty support and had downloaded the warranty files to return my spl to its original 1.90 from 1.90oilnex.
That went well but I never deleted the nbh file and when I went to flash my device to a image on my desktop - bam it put back my spl to 1.90 which is great for ATT but bad for me wanting to give 6.5 another spin.
When I try to run Hardspl from it's exe again it stops at 0% . I tried copying the nbh out and using raphaelwrapper - no luck.
I am stuck where I am. Can anyone help me get back to flashing? Or do I need to load the original att rom and start over?
Anyone?
Buller?

OK guys... new Fuze is waiting at the house for me. Once I get it unlocked, I can begin testing v4.5 for release. :D
The AT&T build is about 95% ready, I just need to fix a few things I noticed during my day of running it last week (pre-drop.) The HTC build will be a day or two behind the AT&T release since I didn't finish stripping the 5.05 build yet.
Hopefully I can get the AT&T versions up by tomorrow night.

Would i be correct in saying that 4.5 is not going to be using the rhodium manilla? i think mr. natf said he was gonna wait till 4.6 or something...

Cool, although I agree with garyfunk that there's no rush. I'd feel like a jerk demanding you upload your ROM right after you get home (not that I'm not anticipating 4.5... :p).
Quick question for you though. Was the replacement through AT&T's insurance program or covered under warranty and how painless was it? A friend knocked my Fuze out of my hands the other day and now it's holding on by one hinge, so I have to get that replaced before it becomes an awkward flip phone.

try pressing FN,T9, and choose T9 English. T9 button is located Far right, bottom of keyboard. this works in all apps.(i.e word, text, email) maybe others, but these are the ones I Always use it.
PM 2 let me know if it works 4 u or not.

alright well i thought i had this figured out but i guess not... so every time i soft reset i am unable to play any music files on my phone... (i have the lite version 4.4 and i do know that i'm supposed to download the audiomanager cab as well) but it seems that having to click on the file every time i soft reset is a little bit of a nusiance... is there anything that i can do to make it so i don't have to find and click the file so that my music plays even after a soft reset....
i tried moving the whole audio manager folder into windows/startup using total commander... but even that didn't work... any suggestions??

Not sure what NATF had to go throug, but this is usually how it goes.
For AT&T warranty: you go to a store, they send you to a warranty service center with paperwork, the service techs there tell you to power cycle your phone while you wait in line, they look for water damage, tell you your SIM is old and that a new SIM will fix it, you wait around some more with irate people, you get your phone back with a 50/50 chance you'll have to go back to have it fixed again. Now, if you have an iPhone, or another flagship-type device, you normally don't get boned that bad, but for a plain old phone, you're pretty much in the suck.
For AT&T insurance: you call, they ask you some information/verify identity, you authorize the deductible over the phone and your new phone is in the mail. Quite painless with a very fast turnaround and well worth the $5/mo.
I've been using the Seidio Innocase (http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/csr2htfe-bk.htm) since I got the phone and it's survived handling and drops from a friend's three year old onto concrete and hardwood floors without a scratch or any internal damage. Teeter is kid crack, by the way.

Wow, it's not that way in Denver.
You walk into the Service Center, sign in while being greeted, wait two minutes then give the rep your phone. Wait 10 minutes and then get a new phone. Walk out very happy.

It's funny how iPhone users get special treatment despite the fact that HTC's devices are smartphones used by professionals (not kids) paying for the more-expensive plans. Despite their multimedia capabilities, these aren't toys- my Fuze contains all of my business contacts, email, and my work calendar. I don't expect to be jerked around. I don't want special treatment- I just don't want to be bumped because some kid broke their toy phone because said toy phone manufacturer gave ATT a sweet exclusive deal.

Back ontopic... I'm looking forward to this new rom. Haven't tried the leaked official rom yet, but I have flashed the radio last night.
Question: does anyone still get the weird bug that brings up the home screen whenever the keyboard is opened/closed? It goes away for a while when I powercycle the phone, but it's annoying when I get a SMS, click on it taking me to the conversation, and open the keyboard to reply and the home screen comes up. Is there a fix for this in 4.4 (still using 4.3, but the problem started in 4.0 for me)?

I finally fixed the tp2 physical mapping problem but now anytime I go to my calendar and change the time of an event, the keyboard changes to numbers only and cant be changed back. I have to re-install the keyboard and both of the bug fixes in order to get it working again. Any work around? I should probably just get the old one back, but the new one is so much nicer.

Doesn't sound bad at all. I have the AT&T insurance plan, but if it's covered under the regular warranty, why pay the deductible. Then again, the odds of them covering a nearly decapitated phone are pretty slim. I'll probably stop in an AT&T store after work just to ask before I go through the trouble of flashing it back to stock. Thanks for the info guys.

No clue on status, but i would turn airplane mode off and get all your messages sorted out. Nothing more fun than flashing a new rom and having all your messages pop in during the install/configure phase.
If airplane mode stays on after flash, then i am just spinning the wheels...

No...airplane mode won't stay on post-flash. I just start up without my SIM in for UC. I just didn't want to have to rerun PIM backup to capture new SMS messages. I just flashed v4.4. I won't reinstall my apps until I see if v4.5 goes up tonight. I will just restore my PIM and play around with everything to attempt to locate/resolve bugs for now. :)

Seriously, as often as I change devices, that sounds like a really dumb idea. My SIMs tend to last 3 or 4 devices...not so much if they're welded to the device!
Dude, use RemoteTracker and quit hard-modding your devices! Talk about a warranty killer!

...So what the heck do you do when you travel??
It seems to me that welding it in place pretty much negates the entire purpose of having the SIM card. I know I've already got a stack of about 5 - it's insanely handy to be able to just pick up a prepaid and have a local number wherever you happen to be in the world.

Sorry, I didn't know you were running the Lite version.
I guess it's possible you don't have .NET 3.5 installed, but still doubtful.
Your issue seems unique - I recommend a reflash, but I understand if you don't want to take such drastic measures.
I'll never understand why some prefer the Lite version - NATF's Standard version still has a ton of space free. I install all my apps except Garmin GPS to my main memory, and still have over 200 MB free for more. Why not be able to use the nice extras he's included? Oh well.

Anyone has connection issues with Internet Explorer? It always tells me "Cannot Connect with the current connection settings". Not even on wifi.
I know it's going back some, but I've managed to fix this using Advanced Config | Internet Explorer, and enabling "Proxy Auto Detection".
Seems to work fine now. Might be useful to know for future ROM releases.

I had this same problem myself, and it drove me crazy!
I was able to access the internet and data network using WiFi but not with the mobile network. It took ~7 hard resets before I figured it out:
First off, with this ROM I am unable to delete or change any settings in the connections tab, so I've learned to leave it alone for now.
In my particular case, it turned out to be my changing the WiFi card to use a specific IP address and inputting my DNS settings. Once I did that, though, I lost mobile network data connectivity, even though the phone worked fine, and I was able to get internet access via WiFi. I ended up deleting the DNS settings and leaving the IP address I had assigned and now all's well.
I'm curious to see if that still happens when I install the new ROM NATF is going to put out, but there it is.
Like anything else concerning ROMs and devices, however, YMMV. ;)

Hey guys new to the whole HTC world, and very new to the flashing scene..
Just recently flashed the Energy series of ROMs and I really like them, and I kinda wanted to branch out and try some other ones while my phone is still fresh..
Is this a good choice? Are there a lot of bugs, I know nothing is perfect but anything real bad? Battery life etc etc?
Also I know its vain, but I really love the icons in energy 1.x, is there a way to install them on this rom or not really worth the trouble?

Welcome. So you don't want to read 3,191 posts to learn about this ROM. NATF is one of the best chef's in the world. His 4.4 is awesome. I have branched out a bit and am currently using Da_G's kitchen to cook my own but for a no-nonsense, fast and stable Rom NATF's 4.4 is great. His 4.5 is due out anytime now and I am sure it will ROCK.

Hey welcome aboard... take your time, read, and try to use the admittedly lame search function when you can.
If you end up with issues try to give as much detail when asking for help so the talented folks here can work on it. Most peeps are pretty chill... some are a little aggro towards noobs, not no more so than most forums...
By the way... welcome to the highly addictive world of flashing... your SO might not like it but we do!

This isn't so much a problem with NATF's ROM but with the device itself. If you search you will see it has been discussed on several different threads. Essentially this is caused by sliding the keyboard while the screen is still loading. If you wait for the conversation to completely load you will not see this happen. I believe some people have even complained of this issue with the stock AT&T rom.

I have that same problem, too. It IS frustrating, so I have to be alert to when I plan to slide my keyboard. I open THEN click on text to make a new text, etc. I'm going to try to wait for the conversation to load and see if that works. Thanks for the heads up.

I haven't seen this before 4.0. And I've been using my Fuze religiously since October. Not saying that this is a bug specific to NATF's rom, but I believe there's something added (newer TF3D dll perhaps) that mitigates this problem.
It doesn't matter whether or not the conversation is loaded- whether or not Messages is currently running either... the device simply goes back to the home screen.
Also, this isn't specific to messaging. While surfing from within Opera, email, or using Word, I've seen this issue when sliding the keyboard. The inverse (closing the keyboard takes me back to the home screen) also happens.

Thanks for this Steve - this fixed the connection problem for IE and Skyfire, but not for Opera. (The Advanced Config setting for IE was already set to Enabled, so I had to select Disabled, reset, reselect Enabled, reset, then it worked)
What's weird is that when it wasn't working I could still pull down my mail in Inbox, get weather updates, etc. but perhaps this was downloading it via GPRS and not 3G.
Hopefully 4.5 will fix this :)

I never had the problem with Opera, and my mail/weather worked fine too, it was just IE. I do find that sometimes the Connection Wizard puts a proxy into my connection settings which seems to break stuff, so I always switch off "this connection uses a proxy" (or something like that). I can't remember whether I had to do this with v4.4, or not.
Cheers,

Been using this rom (full version) for almost 3 weeks now and I find it very good and stable. I only had to soft-reset my device 2 times in this entire time-span. Fast, stable and reliable.
Thank you NATF!

NATF-- Thanks for all of your hard work... I've tried a variety of ROMs since I got my TP-- and yours is the one I stuck with. Stable, fast, and completely working with all of my software. I also like that you offer a "lite" version (which I'm currently using).
Looking forward to 4.5!

Lol, you know that feeling when you were a little kid and the night right before xmas? Well thats 4.5 comin.
On another note, I am wondering if anyone else has had the issue of not being able to hear the other person when in a call. Only they can hear you just fine and speaker works just as well. This issue comes and goes with varying amounts of time passing between flare-ups. I am running 4.4s and have not changed my radio yet (completely diff problem lol) and is NATF stock, no add-ons. Can anyone else recall this happining? Thanks for the feed back (hopefully :o)

I have not experienced this issue, but I will keep an ear out for it. :)
On a similar note, I have been having an issue since 4.3 with in-call notification of events, like new txt, etc. I have modified the usual suspects in the registry (the "InCall" keys in HKLM) and still can't get a single notification to come through while I'm on a call. Call waiting beeps come through, but nothing else. This was not a problem pre-v4.3 and it still exists in v4.4. Before anyone asks, I did confirm in both versions that the issue exists immediately after flash/hreset.
Since I spend a great deal of time on the phone, and still need to receive priority sms alerts, this is proving to be quite a pain. Perhaps I am not modifying the right keys...but I don't see why the in-call notifications were disabled in the first place, unless it was part of v5.05 build out the gate. Any thoughts?

I will also confirm this while im on the bug report. Its not very noticeable at first but after a few consecutive phone calls it can be easily missed. I cant quite remember back to 4.3s but lets hope 4.5s is fixed.
OOh and thirdly, is anyone else having to retry their custom weather citys a couple times before it finally updates? Im aware of the 4.3 issue but this wont seem to do it first try. The message says something about a bad connection and would I like to retry... when i have full 3G/HSDPA bars.. anyone else with a possibly similar experience?
(neither of these issues are extreme by any means in my case, NATF is easily the best out there) THANKS NATF!!

I recently upgraded from V2.2 to 4.4S and now my start menu is larger and holds less items. The recently launched apps row at the top, the icons were much smaller and there were 8 or 9 icons instead of 5, and the text of the items in the start menu was also smaller allowing for more than 7 items? How can I change it in V4.4 to be like it was before in 2.2?

OK guys... new Fuze is waiting at the house for me.

I am assuming that the Touch Pro version will be based on the 5.05, and the Fuze version will be based on the leaked 5.08 build.
On a side note: I'm starting to get fidgety from ROM flashing withdrawal. I might have to stray from the herd temporarily.

I am having sound notification issues when the phone is asleep. This is just a preliminary report...I will attempt to tweak notifications registry to allow for the alerts but it just queued 4 new message alerts until after I woke the device up from sleep. Running v4.4s with S2U2 v1.52. Note: S2U2 v1.52 did not produce the issue on v4.3s.
Can anyone, with or without S2U2, confirm that some alert sounds are being "queued" when the device is asleep, resulting in the notifications being played in succession when the device is woken up?

I don't know if any else have tried the new build of 6.5 from Da_g, but it is solid and fast. The new UI is great and responsive, hell, faster then tf3d, and just as nice looking. I have never seen my email and text messages open so fast, ever, since using my Fuze since November. LOL
With that being said, maybe it's time for 5.0? Of course, that's NAFT decision, but I think the new build is awesome.

NATF, you and your ROMS are just awesome. Very stable, very fast, and always reliable. It seems that first and foremost, you understand that the HTC TP/Fuze is a phone and build your ROMs around that. I have tried the flavors of many different chefs, sort of testing the waters so to speak, and I gotta say that I continue to come back to ya buddy. Keep up the good work and I look forward to your next release... :o)

My bad, NATF, just fast typing.
On the note of Da_G, if you follow his thread, you will notice that "non primetime" statement has been there since the beginning. The latest version is stable and fast, that's why many chefs have started cooking on this ROM.
The reason why I prefer NATF's rom is it comes with a nice balance of programs, etc.
If you been following this thread as long as I have, you might have read earlier statement from NATF, stating, everything here is pretty much beta anyway. That is the nature of cooking rom.

I'm actually running it as we speak (I got bored and figured, since my device is currently in a partially restored state pending v4.5's release, I might as well see what it's all about.).
It runs surprisingly well! Feels a bit faster than current 6.1 releases. Having a home screen that works in landscape is nice, but the home screen could use a little work in the functionality department. I like the rework of the device lock function; which includes slide-to-unlock and slide-to-answer/ignore features...eliminating the need for a 3rd party solution. Overall, rather nice...I won't be keeping it because I'm having a hell of a time getting Opera Mobile to install. I'm likely just finding incompatible builds.
As far as NATF's absence, I'm going to venture a guess to say that something is wrong with his new FIOS. (I'm not a fan of Verizon and their not-so-reliable services and support.) The last person I know who tried to get FIOS ended up canceling before they ever got it installed and working because they screwed around with it for 2 weeks. Then again, NATF might just be swamped with work post-trip.
Since I don't have v4.4 running at the moment, can someone please tell me which Opera build is included in it? The build I see in the cabs list in post #4 strikes me as a much older build than the one being cooked in...only reason I say that is cuz I'm rather certain we are in 5 digit build numbers now.

Those are the curtains that were intentionally left out of the build. You can go to the first page in this thread and download the restore top and bottom curtains cab linked in the NATF Custom CABs section.

I believe this relates to the curtains not being installed by default. In the first few posts (maybe #4 where the dls are) of this thread there should be a link to a cab called NATF Restore Curtains (or similar). That'll take care of you.

I was on-call for work last week, and I got paged every single night for a different server/UPS/switch failing. And while I racked up a butt-load of overtime pay, I couldn't get anything done with the ROMs.
The AT&T Standard ROM is ready now. I just need to strip it down to the Lite version... and the HTC Standard ROM is about 40% ready. I haven't had time to go back and read the last 300 or so posts since I went on vacation, so if you had a specific request, or if some really neat software came out while I was away, please PM me, and I will look into it.
I have 6 weeks before being on-call again, so there should be no further delays holding up v4.5.

Just a couple questions if you don't mind.
You say that the Fuze rom is father along than the HTC version. Are you building these on different base roms (As 4.4 had both roms based on 5.05) or is there some other reason for the difference in readiness? If they are based on different roms, does one have any benefits over the other.
Also, do you have any plans on including the Rhodium Manilla from the TP2?
Lastly, I'd just like to share my thanks again for your wonderful roms. Your dedication to helping us out never ceases to amaze me.

NATF is going to use a leaked version of AT&T's 5.08 ROM as the base for the Fuze releases as it contains a few updates over 5.05 that are most beneficial to AT&T customers (from what I've read of it, anyway). I think the only differences between HTCs 5.05 and AT&Ts 5.08 are tweaks performed by AT&T.
As always, the Fuze ROMs are best suited for Fuze and/or AT&T users as they contain the AT&T internet settings and AT&T specific apps, as well as the correct keyboard layout for the Fuze. My usual recommendations are based on the network used instead of the device version. This is because TP ROMs include the HTC connection wizard for detecting and configuring the device for your carrier...and the only important thing device specific that might need replaced is the hardware keyboard layout, a very simple fix.
Fuze=Y, ATT=Y: Fuze ROM
Fuze=Y, ATT=N: TP ROM (will need Fuze keyboard layout fix)
TP=Y, ATT=Y: Fuze ROM (will need TP keyboard layout fix)
TP=Y, ATT=N: TP ROM
I've read up on the new Rhodium port project...from what I've seen, they are still working on a more stable release. There were a number of users reporting SMS issues after installing it...and there's currently no kitchen-ready version. I think we'd all be better off being patient with this and focus on getting the rest of the ROM as bug-free as possible. We don't want to introduce another bucket of bugs into the mix when we are so close to perfection. ;)

Hey NATF, just upgraded from the tilt and decided to get a little cleaner ROM. I see you are also in Pa. What county is that I'm in Blair and was wondering if you could suggest a good radio(without security unlocking my phone). I see it looks like you are using a Blackstone radio, but wondered if you used any others in the past that worked well. Hope all goes well, as I just got this thing today ;)
And thanks for the ROM by the way
EDIT1: YEAH!! My first successful flash on my Fuze. Now I gotta a lot of work to do setting it up. Haven't had time to make a sashimi folder, so I'm going manually :( I see others are in Pa as well(TheWebMachine). Im also am gonna try radio 1.12.25.19, do you feel it works well for you?
Did I miss it on the first page as far as any tweaks and registry changes are already made? I don't wanna change stuff that is already set where it should be(not that I would know much being a new Fuze owner). Also, saw a list of removed apps for the lite version, but is there a full list of included apps in the standard version? Sorry if I missed this stuff, I been looking at about 10 different ROMs, and decided on this one because I felt it was one of the more "Stable" choices(although that new Manilla stuff does look sweet). Are you trying to get a ROM that is very stable before deciding to add in the new stuff? Sounds like a good idea to me.
I'll keep updating on any issues when I get set up. Thanks again

The AT&T versions of 4.5 are based on the 5.08 AT&T Leaked ROM. The HTC versions of 4.5 are based on HTC's 5.07 Asia WWE ROMs.
4.5 will not include the new TF3D, but I am planning to start testing it for inclusion in 4.6. Since I am switching base ROMs, I want to get them as stable as possible before introducing anything non-standard.

Also the menu font is tiny, but I see that can be changed with advanced config. Please help me out with the start menu.
ROM seems great so far, pretty fast and lite. I was hoping for a few more apps cooked in, but I can install them manually. Just would have saved me time. A registry editor would have really helped. I like all of my tweaking tools cooked in. Just makes it easier after a hard reset.

Just wondering, I've started to attempt to cook my own roms with some success but was wondering about a few things. The start menu is cleared with all the icons placed in folders. How is that done? I looked in the kitchen and didn't find provxml files that organized ALL of the kitchen, just edited ones such as Office. I didn't see any for programs like calendar. Is there something I'm missing? I'm in the process of making individual provxml's for each icon and testing them with advanced config before I combine them to one larger one.
Also, I'm curious about what you removed to give the device the 207.14mb available ram. I'm now trying to use da_g's 21028 kitchen and only get 189.08mb.
I hope curiosity doesn't kill this cat:D

I think I may have been wrong when I said the EnlargedStarMenu wasnt working. I turned it off and it got even smaller. On the stock ROM(which would be 1.95.502.5) the start menu seemed to be huge. I could work it with my thumb. Im having a hard time hitting the right shortcut, keep getting the one above or below. Maybe I'm just crazy, but is there something different in this build than the stock ROM to make the difference? If I'm not crazy, is there a way to make it bigger through a regedit or, even better, a cab?
Also, this is probably related to something I instaled(hopefully) the icons for Long Press End Key and Uploader are distorted. I've attatched a screen to show. Just in case anyone one else gets this.
One last thing. Could someone please explain the settings under settings>personal>buttons? Or point me in the right direction? Not sure what I'm searching for here.
ThisROM has been super fast for me, so I'm not complaining at all. These are just little things. Good work NATF

I've been using Radio 1.12.25.19 with the 4.4 natf for about 60 hours. It's performance has been outstanding. Quick gps fix, no lock up when moving in and out of coverage and slightly better battery life. *Very* pleased. Working well in midwest North America.
Do I have to flash the leaked ROM (I'm not unlocked at all), then re-flash 4.4 to get this new radio?
Or perhaps "is this one way to get the new radio", might be a better question. I may unlock my phone, I'm just not in any rush to...
I had one touchflo crash since I've gone to 4.4, after it went to sleep with the camera selected. When I hit the power button, the camera came to life for a sec, then it cleared to the "touchflo3d starting" screen.
But that's the only glitch I've noticed, beside the one font issue that has the reg fix posted.
Oh yeah, I installed the latest fuzeberry (7.5CFC?), and it seems to be working just peachy with this ROM. Boss saw it, and liked it, and wants me to flash his phone with it.
Only ? I have is what is the "HD" tab people mention? I don't have a tab that's obviously something labeled HD.

@mrcpu: You dont need to unlock to use raphael radios, only radios from other devices like Diamond or Blackstone.I think it said in the first or second post that he rolled back the manilla to an older build which does not have HD contacts tab for better stability. I could be wrong as I was skimming 5 other ROM threads at the time, but check the changelog.
NATF: This ROM is rocking so far :) I was having a problem with Camera Album freezing when opening png files from explorer, but I changed the default program to pimg and all is well. The only thing I can complain about is the smaller start menu, but nothing to do with your ROM I think. I was just use to the BIG one in my stock ROM. I could do everything without a stylus. If anone has a fix, then I would be in heaven ;) Or am I crazy as I stated in my first post?
Changed fonts to a bigger size, but some of it is still tiny, such as popup windows for confirmations like reboot and delete messages.
One more thing I just noticed. I used to be able to select multiple messages in email by almost a long tap on top one and sliding down the rest. Cant do that now, and I dont know if there is a setting for it somewhere. So if anybody could help on that too would be great.
Please note that these are not bugs, just differences in personal preference and ROM builds most likely. Thanks a bunch. Now I'm off to work.

NATF's ROM's do not include a radio, however, there is NO reason to change your ROM to the new AT&T Test ROM just to get the new radio. Find the radio thread within the Raphael folder, and find the radio you want. Also, you want to install the rilphone.dll file after you have upgraded the radio. HD Contacts add 2-4 little icons underneath the pictures of your contacts, so you don't have to click on the picture, and then choose what you'd like to do. It's a great addition.

I am in Bucks County, just north of Philadelphia. The radio included with the leaked 5.08 AT&T ROM seems to be performing very well in the tests people have been putting it through.
Thanks for the update! I have the new radio on your 4.4 and I am very happy. I got my HArdSPL issues sorted and have tried the newer builds of 6.5 - I keep coming back for your awesome rom's though. I guess I was just getting a little antsy not flashing in a few weeks so long story short -
I can't wait for 4.5 and 4.6 :)
Keep up the great work NATF!

Can you take post a screenshot of your Start Menu? AFAIK, HTC Enlarged Start Menu only comes in one size. I have no issues navigating around with my HUGE thumbs.
The icon distortion is definitely something you installed, because I never came across it during my testing/3 weeks of running v4.4.
Regarding Settings -> Buttons: xcsdm (http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=285209) wrote an amazing app that allows almost all of the buttons on the Fuze (including the special ones on the hardware keyboard) to be remapped to perform different functions. That is why you see so many options in there.

Hi guys,
Currently using ver 3.2, very happy apart from this small irritation. I can't seem to lock the inputs. In the original (three Australia) rom, I just used to hold the end key and get a lock, then tap screen to unlock. The option is still there in settings, but when I hit the end key now, all I get is the owner information (I've set it to display this on startup), then normal operation. I've tried changing it to give the menu on long press end key, all the other features (vibrate, airplane mode, end data connection) work fine, but not the lock. I tried a brief trawl through this thread, but ran out of steam after the first page of unrelated "lock" results. Is it a known issue, and is it fixed in ver 4.0, or is there a workaround I should know about?
I'm on ver 4.4 now and can confirm this problem is still present. I've discovered it's dependent on having a password set on the phone - I have it set to ask for password if not used in 12 hours, and the long press end key doesn't work. Take off the password, it works fine. Can you check it out?

Since I don't have v4.4 running at the moment, can someone please tell me which Opera build is included in it? The build I see in the cabs list in post #4 strikes me as a much older build than the one being cooked in...only reason I say that is cuz I'm rather certain we are in 5 digit build numbers now.
I haven't tried Opera myself, but I find the IE build that comes with 6.5 build does a decently good job at rendering website.
Can't wait for NATF's 5.0, hopefully with 6.5 and TF3D2.

A couple more questions if you dont mind haha.
I'm assuming now that you're building the Fuze ROM from an AT&T source that the included RILPHONE.DLL will not include CNAP support for caller ID. Would you then recommend when V4.5 comes out i use the TP version on my unlocked Fuze? Also, will the Asian WWE 5.07 even include CNAP support?
Lastly, I'm assuming you optimize your RILPHONE.DLL to work best with your radio (Blackstone), since I am currently on the stock AT&T radio (Tried switching once, had massive drain issues) am I suffering any loss of performance due to the mismatch?

None of my ROMs will support Rogers Name Display out-of-the-box. However, nk.exe is patched to allow rilphone.dll to be overwritten without being cooked in.
Each ROM will have the rilphone.dll file that matches the stock radio distributed with the original base ROM.

I dont wanna waste your time with my start menu issues. I think it may be possible that the first Fuze I had was defective, which is why I'm on my second one in a week. But I wish I would have looked at this one before I flashed a new ROM. I only had it home for 15 minutes before flashing, and did not think to look at it. Although it would be nice if I still had the first one so I could find what had caused the huge start menu. I mean it was huge  At first I thought it was too big, but then got used to it. Oh well, end of discussion.
One thing I would like to know, is anyone else able to select multiple messages in email or SMS by a long hold and swipe? I could do it on the previous ROM, and my Tilt, but its not workin now. Is this in a setting?
Seems like the only real problem I have is bluetooth, but this is not ROM related as it was the same on the stock ROM, and the first Fuze I got(main reason for returning it). I can connect, but when I hold the phone more than 3-5 feet away it cuts out. I see the bitpool is set to low by default in this ROM and tried changing all the values with no difference.
One last thing here. Would you consider making a heavier version of an upcoming ROM? With more basic apps like DotFred Regedit\Taskmanager, and possibly Sprite Backup for those who want to flash once and keep the same ROM? I know everyone has their own preference in apps, but this is XDA, and I think some sort of registry editor should come standard in cooked ROMs.
This ROM has been great, and cant wait to see what you come up with next.

Multiselect is disabled by default in 20xxx and newer ROMs because Microsoft began implementing gestures (like TouchFLO) into the OS. My ROMs disable the gestures by default, so they should work fine.

The Bluetooth chip used in the Fuze seems to be picky over what devices it works well with. For example: If I connect my Jabra BT250 headset to it, I can't go more than 5 feet from my phone. My MGS4 headset can go 10-15 feet, and my LG A2DP headphones can go 35+ feet through walls without dropping signal.

Possibly on the Task Manager. Total Commander is already in the Standard ROMs, and that is a registry editor.

Lookin at total commander now and it does "look" at the registry, but from what I can tell it only tells me the size of each value. And not the actual value-ie: under the key HKCU\Software\A_C\S2U2\
value for Wallpaper says 98bytes, when it should say "\my documents\my pictures\". Unless I am missing something it seems like this would only be useful for deleting said value but how would you modify it?
DotFredTaskmanager includes a registry editor with import\export, taskmanager, etc. Very useful and only about220kb. Not a big deal, just a suggestion. This ROM rocks!!:)

Total Commander is a full-blown registry editor. Just double click on any value, and your options to edit the values pop up. Pretty darned cut and dry. (Stylus use recommended)

Thanks. Didnt think to double tap. DotFred shows you the values without the extra step. Does TotalCmnder also import, export, and search just the registry? Havent used it much, as I use Resco for the skins.
Nevermind, found the search, and I guess maby you would copy the entry like a file?

Perhaps I'm doing something wrong, but I have an Aliph Jawbone II I've tried using with NATF 4.2 and 4.4. Signal is great, similar to your LG. However, no matter what I try, I can't get Voice Command to recognize a headset "click" as a command to start listening for a voice command. Further, even when I hit PTT (which is mapped to VC), VC doesn't seem to listen to the headset. It insists on listening only to the mic on the phone. Once the call is established, the headset works fine, but the lack of VC is a distinct annoyance. I feel fairly certain this combo can work, but I'll be darned if I can figure it out.
Have you had any success getting this to work? Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Not being able to use Bluetooth earset with MS Voice Command is a long time known problem with MSVC and not with any ROM including the stock AT&T one.
I also have a Jawbone II (great for noise) that connects to Fuze calls by “Hands Free” and like you, I cannot use MSVC with earset.
My Jabra BT8010 is a stereo earset that can be used for hands free and Internet music which connects by both “Hands Free” and “Wireless Stereo” and I believe because of the “Wireless Stereo” connection this earset works well (good accuracy) with MSVC but the earset button does not start MSVC (it starts Music) so you still need to push usual button on the Fuze. You can use button on earset to end call as usual.
Does anyone know how to map button on earset like you can do with many of the phone buttons?

I don't have a answer to your question but I can tell you both that I have the original bluetooth Jawbone and it connects perfectly. I'm able to press the button on the Jawbone to initiate VC, say the name, end the call, all while the phone is in my pocket or even the other room.
And as far as I can tell, it only connects using the Headset profile. That's the only thing available on the Partnership Settings screen of the Fuze.

To everybody that helped:

Thanks for the info and the cab. Flashed my fuze to the .19 radio version, and the first time I rebooted before I got the cab installed, it ate up 10% of the battery in just a few minutes, and the back got fairly warm. finished the install of the cab, soft-reset, and it's all perfect now.
Radio-wise, I can't tell the difference, but I'll assume it's better until I hear otherwise. But Rom wise, this ROM is great. I'd say *AWESOME*, but it seems so cliche... :)
Only actual bug I can find is oggsync only will open the window after a soft-reset. Once I sync, (which works fine) and close the window, clicking the icon again just sits there. It used to work under the stock AT&T rom just fine, used it a couple times a day. It's not running in tasks, but it just won't open again. Soft reset, and boom, opens right up.
Thanks NATF for your hard work.

If I read this correctly this will be important for flashing to v4.5. Since is sounds like it will be based on the most recent AT&T rom that included the new radio, then sounds like 4.5 will include the rilphone.dll for the newer AT&T radio. Sounds like I need to get off my but and flash the radio so I am ready for 4.5 :P

He means version 1.12.25.19 - the same radio from the leaked AT&T rom, since the rilphone.dll in 4.5 will correspond to that radio.
Honestly, I don't see what the big deal is. The original stock radio on the Fuze was absolutely terrible. I used to have to go outside my house sometimes to make a phone call. This radio is noticeably improved, IMO. And GPS lock is much, much faster.

Yes, I've tried this using NATF's 4.2 rom (didn't upgrade since then). GPS lock is significantly faster, and reception is reported to be better in many areas (here in Orlando, it's exceptionally better). I haven't noticed any negative impact towards battery life, but ymmv.

What I read from other posts it's not necessary to hard-reset after flashing new radio. But Wiki says that same rules apply as for flashing ROMs. I'm just a little confused since I don't want to hard-reset everytime I try new radio.

I've been running the AT&T leaked test ROM for a couple of weeks while waiting for 4.5. Overall it is better than the original, but there is one thing that is much worse. The music app from the TF3D is very, very slow to come up. It takes something like a minute for the last played selection to appear and for the buttons to appear. This definitely didn't happen with 4.4. This may be me (I have something like 10gb in audio book files on there, in only 10 albums). However, I'd like to encourage NATF to pay attention to this. It may be that HTC has made some bad changes here and that he would be better off going with the original player (whatever it is called).
BTW, the main reason I tried the test ROM was that the SlingPlayer product refused to function at all in 4.4 if WiFi was turned on. I did some over the air packet sniffing to see if I could see what the problem was, but there were 0 packets broadcast by the Fuze. The AT&T test ROM did work fine with SlingPlayer and WiFi.

Maybe the issue you are describing with the Music Player has to do with the Memory Chip you are using. What brand is your MicroSD? There was an issue with earlier versions which was later determined to be with certain brand MicroSD cards. (if I remember correctly)

I haven't messed with the Partnership settings. I've just paired the headset and tried it that way.
If I put the phone in headset mode, will the phone itself ring/buzz or will I only hear rings in the headset?
Also, it would be nice if we could hear ringtones in the headset as well, although I've never found any Bluetooth phone/headset combo that could do that.

Yes, I meant 1.12.25.19. Thanks I'll try it this weekend.
What I read from other posts it's not necessary to hard-reset after flashing new radio. But Wiki says that same rules apply as for flashing ROMs. I'm just a little confused since I don't want to hard-reset everytime I try new radio.
You don't need to do a hard reset. At least I never did.
Soft reset should be fine.

NATF, are there any registry or other programmatic settings that govern how the phone interacts with Bluetooth headsets? Anything worth tweaking or experimenting with?

With mono (headset or hands-free profiles) bluetooth headsets, you will only hear beeping on the headset and the device should ring/vib. However, if you have VC incoming call announcements to bluetooth on, you will hear the ringtone through the headset (device will still vib, if applicable) along with the announcement, as the device can only route audio to one place at a time. This scenario has been the case with every mono headset I've encountered.
If you have a BT device that supports the wireless stereo profile (like my BT620S stereo headphones), then you would hear the ring (and all other sounds) through the headset regardless of VC settings, so long as the wireless stereo profile is active.
And for the person who mentioned the VC BT routing issues of WM5 and 6.0, we've LONG since moved past that! :p

I have the Jabra BT8010 so hopefully I can help. Mine DOES start MSVC when pushing the earset button (and music control). I can also replicate your 'problem'. In order to use MSVC push the headset/music button (on the side of the earpiece with the on/off and menu buttons)till you hear 1 beep (headset)(2beeps=music). Then push the earset button and MSVC will make its little sound and speak your command. I've had the 8010 as long as my Fuze (4 months) and the combination works perfectly with no mapping or further configuration. Hope this helps!

Not unless my card magically changed characteristics between 4.4 and the test rom. I suppose the card reader driver could have changed in the test ROM, but this seems doubtful. It has always worked fine before with pretty much the same number of files.

Frankly, it was useless. Every net app I tried moved at a snails pace. From windows live (hotmail), slingplayer, Opera, google maps, everything, connecting took forever and throughput was surprisingly slow. As in the google.com home page taking 5 minutes to load...THATs slow!
Reverting back to the default ATT rom gets me back to snappy 3g performance.
Thoughts?

Well for starters you do not mention what radio you are using, perhaps that is part of your problem? The ROM will not make your internet or data connection faster. The ROM WILL make your device work faster with the apps on it. Understanding the difference between memory throughput and bandwidth would help. You are trying to compare apples to oranges by complaining that this ROM didn't help your data connection.

um...no...I am using the same radio with both roms. so I AM in fact comparing apples to apples.
I have not changed from the stock radio. When I install 4.4 my 3G performance goes to hell...when I switch back to stock ATT rom all is well...I can't believe I had to type that a second time...sigh
and I never said I was hoping switching to 4.4 would improve my data connection. I merely stated that a side effect of installing 4.4 was that my data connection was effectively murdered. Please don't put words in my mouth as it only confuses and sidetracks the issue at hand...yay! red herrings!

Here is a speed test i did with NATF's 4.4 rom. I get really good connection speed. It does depend greatly on your signal strenght as well. What radio were you using? I know 4.4 has the rilphone.dll for the new AT&T radio in it already. Not sure if using a different radio than the .dll would make a difference. If you dont want to change radios you could try looking for the rilphone.dll that matches your radio and give that a try.

I, too, have been running Da_G's 6.5...but only to try it out and bug hunt while waiting for v4.5 (I couldn't get a couple of issues with v4.4 fixed properly and decided to take a vaca myself. lol) I am posting my findings in the next day or so. I am going to remain awake and flash 4.5 now. I will have you know, you should be very careful with pocket outlook on 6.5. Overnight, my email encountered an SSL error with gmail, when I woke up, my phone acted ok...but later in the morning, poutlook completely corrupted my message stores and the phone would lock up if I even attempted to open poutlook. That was the last straw. While it is quick and very much stable for it's current "test" beta state, it does have a number of OLD issues surrounding it's NEW version of poutlook.
Sorry for rambling on about that for a bit...I just wanted to warn those curious about 6.5 who may need their device to be moderately productive in order for them to be productive. You're better off sticking with NATF's ROMs...because NATF has a natural knack for stability. (Most of the time... :p)
Also, I recall someone asking me about my radio reception with v1.12.25.19 here in Pittsburgh. (If I answered this already before, I'm sorry...too tired to check.) I have been using the new radio since it came available, along with the rilphone...and have been getting stellar reception and battery performance. Even my BT reception distance is better! They did a bang up job on this one. It's nice to see a device reach this level of stability at such a young age. :)
Time to flash, then maybe a nap before my 9:30am conference call, which I will likely partake in from the comfort of my bed. :D

You must have misread, if you look in the radio thread you can see all the radios for a raphael phone.
ANY of those can go on your phone, and you do not have to security unlocked.
However if you want to use the radio listed under Diamond and Blackstone phones, you do need to security unlocked.

So mp3trimmer not being included has been covered. There are a couple things I noticed in this build, but not sure if this is something with 5.08 or 4.5:
The scroll wheel in google maps no longer allows you to zoom in. It still allows you to zoom out. Gonna poke around to see if there is a registry change that needs to be made.
In the programs start menu, Tools is the first entry as opposed to being sorted alphabetically. It looks this is hard coded somewhere, because even moving things around doesn't reset it.
Something that is still in from previous builds - Voice Command is bound on two buttons, Send (hold) and PTT. Not a biggy, but the Buttons setting app has a cow. Maybe setting the PTT to <none> for later releases?
Is it expected behavior that the Weather Master app does not auto-config off the storage card? I had to manually restore.
I have also gotten the impression this morning, but it is too early to say for sure, that the battery drain on this 5.08 based build is slightly worse that the 5.05 from 4.4. Even with the same radio ROM and apparently same rilphone.dll file. Might be one of those things that a few soft resets cures in a day or two.
All in all, it looks to be a solid release. I have noticed a definite improvement in app responsiveness and smoother animation/sprite drawing. Worth the wait, NATF. :)

Not really an issue because if you go into Buttons, just change it real quick.
Something I noticed about mapping the PTT button - it seems OK if you map it to a program, but if you map it to any of the first 12 options (all of the ones in <>) it does not seem to work. For example, I like to map the PTT button to OK/Close, but when I do this and press the PTT button to try to close something, nothing happens.

Try flashing from SD. It's the safest way to flash, and the quickest.

NATF,
Thanks for the new updated ROM. I am using 4.5 standard, and since Incallrecording does not seem to work, I installed IRC.cab. This worked great with your previous ROM's, now windows mobile default incoming call notification is shown and not the canvas. Also my phone canvas looks like the image attached. Is there any thing is fix this? Is hard reset only solution?
Thanks

Yeah I think i'm noticing a slight battery drain as well. I flashed the new .19 radio after flashing the rom too. Hopefully it'll go away. Other than that, so far I am happy with the rom. Thanks NATF
This version is much quicker than the 4.4 version. So, assumedly, the battery drain and memory usage is slightly increased. But if you have the .19 radio, it shouldnt matter and i havent noticed a difference from any version in the past. (i switched to the .19 radio at 4.4 so the difference is a bit more noticeable) Hope that helps :)

There's no such thing as "IRC.cab," so to speak - dozens of various icr-enabling cabs are floating around, each with different sets of registry keys and dialer files. If the one you're installing replaces your dialer with one you don't like, try another - or better yet, strip out the files you don't need.

I use PIM Backup to copy my SMS/Call History/Contacts from ROM to ROM. Most apps seem to have issues restoring WM's threaded SMS, so I recommend using Advanced Config to disable threading prior to restoring, and then re-enable it, and soft reset. WM will automatically start threading your messages for you.

You can use the Fuze version. You would need to change the keyboard layout, remove the Hidden Proxy, and configure the ROM for your operator.

Getting ready to flash 4.5. I plan on using Sashimi for all my cabs. But been trying to figure out for sometime now, by reading this thread and others, what's the best way to back up personal stuff and transfer over when doing a ROM flash. NATF recommends PIM Backup, but from what I can tell that program does not handle items like browser bookmarks (Opera, IE, etc.). SPB Backup and Sprite Backup claim to handle those things well. But I've also read that SPB Backup and Sprite Backup backup/reinstall various kinds of user-initiated tweaks from the registry and that can be a problem when flashing up to a new ROM. Any thoughts, oh wise ones?? Thanks.

I am using NATF Fuze Standard ROM for Ver 4.5. It is stable and speedy and I really appriciate the efforts of NATF for making such a stable ROM. I was trying the TV out function on this ROM but everytime I open the TV out from settings it says :
"TV Out cable (optional accessory) is needed to output to an external display."
I just bought the HTC Fuze and no TV out cable was supplied with it. Earlier I had an Imate Ultimate 9502 and I still have TV out cable of Ultimate 9502. Is the ultimate 9502 tv out cable compatible with the HTC Fuze TV out or I have to purchase a cable for HTC Fuze specifically?
Any help would be highly appriciated.

The Fuze/Touch Pro do not include the required TV Out cable. Your old cable might work, but more than likely, you will need to buy a new one.

Upon further inspection, I realize that they aren't corrupted. They're just absent.
In the communications manager, there are 4-5 ring tones listed as 'options', but only 'AT&T' and 'Ninja Gaiden 2' work.
I kept trying to select 'Ring-Windows Mobile' (since it was listed as an option), but without luck.

Re-POSTED because of THREAD DISRUPTION per NATF's ANNOUNCEMENT
After flashing to 4.5 I've lost the capability to data connect per my set schedule for downloads to my email accounts and weather updates [POCKETWEATHER 2.20]. If 'settings-system-power-advanced-turn off device not used for' is set to any value, no data connection will occur as per the set schedules after the device turns off. Prior to 4.5 [running 4.4] the device would download even in the 'turned off' [suspended] mode. The phone will do sked downloads if the backlight is off [but not suspended], but of course, this mode uses lots of battery AND any screen touch causes an action [can't put the phone into a pocket].
Is there some setting in ADVANCED CONFIGURATION or somewher else that is an easy solution?
Thank you NATF for making my phone so MUCH better than stock!

I think what most people would recommend would be hard reset and test if the issue still exists. If it does still exist, then try reinstalling the ROM, maybe a bad flash? I have 4.5 Standard and have not experienced this issue. Perhaps other software on your Fuze?

I have read through this thread but it has only confused me more. My understanding is that NATF 4.5S is based on the leaked version of the next AT&T Raphael ROM (5.08) which also includes and updated radio (1.12.25.19). I have never flashed a radio before but everyone seems to be raving about the new 1.12.25.19 radio so I thought I would give it a try.
I know that NATF does not include radios in his ROMs but, since his latest Fuze ROM is based on the leaked ROM with the new radio, is the rilphone.dll file for 1.12.25.19 included in 4.5 Standard?
And if the rilphone.dll file for 1.12.25.19 is included, do I still need to security unlock my phone?
In fact, what all do I need to do in order to both upgrade to NATF 4.5S and the 1.12.25.19 radio?
And a completely separate question, NATF, why did you downgrade the Opera Mobile build in 4.5S from the one you have in 4.4S?
Just curious.

Check out the radio thread sticky'd at the beginning of the ROM development board for the 1.12.25.19 download. Then follow the same procedure you would use if you were flashing a new ROM (except for the hard reset). You do not need to unlock your phone unless you flash a non-Raphael radio. If you haven't flashed a new ROM before, head over to the "Flashing Your First GSM Raphael" thread (also at the top of the board) or the Wiki and absorb its knowledge. Make sure you already have HardSPL before you try and flash a ROM or radio. The new radio and 4.5 are well worth taking the time to upgrade. My battery life, signal, and speed have all increased significantly since v4.4.

OPPPS well on the other post that got deleted do to the restore I also stated that I had already loaded the default ring tones and alerts from the file on the first page.. Correct when i first set up the rom they where there but not working.. you get a ringtone error. but now i have put the correct files into the windows folder did a soft reset and now i have them listed twice one works the other one its still the ring tone error. Also if you try and change ringtones or alert settings there for some reason the system resets to default im guessing and auto selects the Ring- WindowsMobile and of course its the first one that doenst work :( so the phone doesent ring.. you have to go back in and set up all the tones again then it usually saves correctly

Move them to the \Windows\Rings folder and see if the dupes go away.

Thanks for all the hard work, NATF.
Everything here is working well, except for one thing.
As mentioned, MP3 trimmer is not included, so I downloaded it from the link in your post. It installs, but will not run...not a big deal, but perhaps worth mentioning....
Cheers.
