Cap, are you by chance around the Chicago land area.
I have been having the same kind of issue. I'm thinking it could have something to with my location.
I am not. I hail from PA. I also work in NJ, and have seen the issue in both locations.

I am still running 3.2 and can toggle my data connection on/off in Comm Manager.
Thanks! you saved me a flash :)

I am in Upstate, NY and even I have this issue. But some times it works fine and some times I have to disconnect and again connect to get internet work.

Hi, I am new to this site and I just want to say thanks NATF for the rom. I was wondering, however, if you took out the instant messenger app that came on the att stock rom? I have looked everywhere and can't seem to find it. If so, does anyone know where I can download this cab? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Yay, I'm not the only one.
Kinda makes me feel better ... even though we dont know whats causing it.

Where would I obtain said driver?
Da_G will PM both of us when it's working 100%. Right now, there is an issue of not reading 2 of the shortcuts correctly.

hey Todd, I posted yesterday about the Windows Media Player not working and I didn't see anybody post a fix for it. I would use HTC Audio Manager but I have some songs in .wma format which Audio Manager doesn't read.
Has the WMP freezing issue been fixed on v4.1?
I don't know if it was a bad flash but v3.2 has been buggy. TouchFlo 3D resets itself. the AIM for Windows Mobile Freezes. Everything else about it works to perfection but I didn't expect to see so many issues. I'm gonna reflash and hope it solves it. I am very thankful for the work you've put into not only the Fuze but on the Tilt as I've been flashing since the 8525 and I like to work with the best cook on that particular device (in this case, that's you). If you have a fix for any of the issues I wrote about, please let me know. I'll reflash and go ahead and post up if it fixes my issues.
Thanks!

I too am new and in the same situation. Is there a cab for the instant messenger that came with the original att rom? I looked all over google and the phone for it. I found a few .cab for the tilt, im not sure if that would work for the fuze or on NATF 4.0 rom for that matter.
Thanks NATF for an excellent rom, really amazing work. :)

In 4.1, when you press the side volume buttons, it changes the "Ring" volume rather than the "System" volume. Hasn't it always been the other way (with the stock ROM and pre-4.0 versions)?
EDIT: Weird. Now its working. Soft reset fixes all, I guess.

I have not experienced this.
I can second the Captain's complaint. I'm in Atlanta and this happens fairly frequently, although to be fair it was doing it with the stock ROM as well. Every now and then the phone just seems to stop allowing data. Opera fails. Weather fails. But for some reason push email continues as normal. My fix has been to go into CommMgr, enable "airplane mode" (quicker than killing the individual comm services), and then turning things back on. It always fixes the issue. I just wish it wouldn't occur in the first place. I'm running the stock radio.
Anybody else here from the Atlanta area and not using the stock radio? If so, what's the best choice?

this has been hit or miss with the v's including the stock rom when i had it. Data would stop working. would have to turn data connection off and back on (airplane as noted does the same thing).
i have yet to loose the data connection in v4 and i can remember if it was v3.2 or v2.3 it didn't drop as well.

Unless you have 1500 or more TXT messages on your phone per month... why would you use the att stock instant messenger? It uses up your txt messages. In just one hour, I used 300 txt messages. Use BeeJiveIM or several of the other more powerful, data-using, applications instead.
That being said, I believe if you went back to the beginning of this thread, in one of the first four posts by NATF, he has attached cabs for the programs taken off of the AT&T stock rom. You should find what you need there.

NATF - I see you caved and finally decided to include TF3D Config in the ROM (Pre-4.1). Thanks. That's one less cab for me to install. Also, thanks for bringing back Remote Desktop, too.
Also, have you given up on getting a landscape TF3D installed as part of the ROM?

I would like to vote against that. I actually like the way the landscape TF3D is now as I can hit one button to get to any of the areas. With the verizon landscape TF3D you have to hit the screen at least twice to get anywhere (drag and then click). It may look cooler, but less effecient in my opinion.

I got that to work once, but now its taking so long to load "All" my pictures that it never even gets to the point that I can select "Albums" to try and see the Storage Card.
EDIT: I was finally able to get it working. I just had to wait a while for the phone to finish finding all of my pictures. It never took this long on previous ROMs (besides 4.0), and I could even have my Card partitioned.
When you set an album as favorite, the box that pops up is skewed (see attached pic).
Here's an interesting twist. I used my phone in Disk Drive mode, and after disconnecting, Album no longer sees my Storage Card (again). This time when I selected "All", it shows me the first few pictures on my Storage Card, but now doesn't show it in the Albums list. It could be that I'm just not waiting long enough again, but I've never had to wait before.

Since there were no fewer then 20 posts (slight exaggeration) regarding TF3D Config crashing, I solved it by adding it to the ROM.
I'm not against landscape in TF3D, but it's so easy to add it by applying a custom theme, that there's not much point. Plus cooking it in may potentially lead to more issues.

Da_G mentioned something about the SD Card driver possibly being the cause of this behavior. The weird thing is... not every card is affected.

Is there a way to keep the rest of the current theme, and just apply the landscape TF3D portion, somehow? I don't really like the other themes that use it.

I agree that its odd every card isn't affected. It (at least) seems to be two of us that are using the 16GB SanDisk Class 2 card. Hopefully Da_G can come up with a solution.
Did you happen to notice this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3144045#post3144045) where I included a pic of another issue with HTC Album? I assume that one is related to this version coming from the Blackstone.

Using pre-4.1
I confirm that my phone also resets when playing music in WMP. I have an 8GB SD card. I've not experienced problems with any other programs accessing it. I've been trying to search for a pattern to why it reboots as it doesn't in every case.
I think it is down to the size of the now playing list. When I have 7 songs in the list, I get no reboots. I've tried shuffling and repeating on/off. If I load my whole music directory (about 1GB) any of those same 7 songs will cause the phone to reboot after playing a few seconds.
I have not had any other issues with this build. For issues others were having problems with: GPS works, volume controls now work fine. Exchange OTA syncing works. Weather updating works.

i think that if it is happening to us and users that report using it as a mp3 player that there are just not enough people out there that are using alot of storage or there is a size error for the 16gb support for the external.
anybody care to ring in on this one? hopefully it's what Da_G is seeing.

I have an 8GB sandisk and I would assume I have the same problem as WMP hoses as soes my Nav software freeze (Co-Pilot). I had no problems before v3.2. I have not tried any of the Lite ROMS so I do not know if this would make any difference. I could try a Da_G ROM just to see if those apps work under a different ROM altogether.
But the more people are seeing with files or apps on their SD cards, it seems like maybe the driver might be a common theme.

I'm calm. I just wasn't seeing the correlation between the SD Card issue and the WMP. But it's not even that, AIM freezes up on me. TouchFlo will just freeze on the Home screen which makes me have to go and unselect TouchFlo 3D from the Today settings. then once I reselect it it does fix it. Kind of annoying though.
I'll go back and re read the SD Card Fixes and see if it works. thanks Ryan, much appreciated.
EDIT: I have a 6GB Class 2 MicroSD. Since V3.2 worked fine, can't you just use the SD Card drivers from that ROM instead of hoping that Da_G has a fix?

v4.1 Test Version ONLY
http://www.natf.info/ROMs/v4/NATF_Pre-v4.1_TEST_ONLY.rar
AT&T Standard version, usual password. I'll edit this post with a changelog once I get to work... running late right now.
Again, please do NOT download this unless you are willing to spend 2-6 hours testing the ROM for the issues reported since 4.0 was released.
[/B]
First time trying anything like this, so I wasn't sure exactly what to test for. Things I noticed:
Cellular Video, does not run, get error message "file reentry not allowed" This was happening in V4, but not in previous versions of NATF roms.
Haptic, Much better, consistent with each touch. Don't know if I want it running, but it is working with each touch of the screen now.
Start menu: works fine in portrait mode, but in landscape, only today appeared. (Just remembered that I noticed this AFTER installing redfly drivers, so not sure if this is really the rom, or something on my end.)
Last (and probably least), tried connecting to celio redfly, can connect via usb with no problem, but unable to connect via bluetooth. Had no problem with ATT rom, but can't seem to get it working with NATF rom's. Not sure if this is related to the rom, or the drivers. I am reflashing the stock rom to see if I can replicate the issue. There's probably like 3 people who own a redfly, so this isn't a big deal.
I really like v4, and v4.1 looks good too. Thanks for all the work you do, very solid stuff. I hope some of this information was useful from a total nubie! If there are other things you would like me to look for, I'll throw 4.1 back on and take a whack at it if needed.

Sure. All you need to do is delete short_PTT.lnk from \Windows\, create a shortcut to Resco in \Windows\, and then rename it to short_PTT.lnk.
The PTT button is hard-coded to look for short_PTT.lnk and long_PTT.lnk. If it finds them, it executes them.
This was great and defaulted to your Camera in V3.2 (which I'm running until 4.1 comes out). However, Resco files are located in PROGRAMS and when I map short_PTT - I get "the file AudioRec cannot be opend. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of it's components can not be found."
It is messy to copy all Resco program files (or reinstall) to Windows, but is there a feature to get either PROGRAM director or the RESCO directory to be searched?
Also - on 3.2 I noticed that my screen goes BLACK the minute I get an incoming phone call. Is that my setting (I couldn't find it in the forum search) or a feature of 3.2?
Thanks NATF. You are the best.

I didn't mention that in 4.0 I had trouble when using the alphabet scroll on the right side of Contacts. I would go to the Ts (for example) and it would go back to the top entry. The second time I would move down the list, all was okay.
This seems to be fixed in pre4.1

I am having 1 problem with internet connectivity, when connecting wifi, after disconnecting weather and only weather cannot connect, just sits there saying downloading. No other programs have any problems connecting, just weather. Is anybody with connection issues first connecting to a router then disconnecting? The only way for me to get weather back is soft reset.
Edit: Well I just flashed a new radio (figured if ima make the fuze like NATFs might was well use his radio) and this is no longer an issue. And GPS lock is much faster with me on 1.08.25.08 than 1.10.25.25 or 1.08.25.20M1, or finally 1.08.25.28

I did notice the strange OK button placement, and it most likely was caused by porting the Album from the Blackstone.

The ability to keep the screen on during a call seems to be hit-and-miss on just about every ROM. The only fix I've come up with is to hold the phone away from your face (3-5 inches, for 3-5 seconds) after you make/receive a call. The screen should stay on after that.

I am running 4.0 and I love it. I do have a question and I have search but could not find and answer. I went into settings and click today. I accidently clicked Windows default and when i went back to HTC_Black My Task bar at the top and the bare at the bottom are now a greyish color. I can not get it back to the nice black it was before I changed it. Is there anything I can do to fix this or do I have to reflash the phone to fix it. Thanks for any help in advance and NATF thanks for all your work. This IS THE rom of all roms for this phone.

Lucky. I work for them and have it and can only get 20/5. 20/20 is available for $10 more, but it completely kills the savings I get with having FiOS TV and employee discounts. Jerks.

NATF, since you haven't said anything, I'll assume you aren't ready to post the v4.1 release yet. I just finished downloading Pre-v4.1 and I'm going to give it a spin to see if there are any other issues to be identified before you churn out the release. I'll take 60 min to beat the hell out of this "alpha" and see what I turn up...

You sure about that? I remember with my blackjack that people said the OZ IM app in WM5 was via SMS but that on WM6 it was via data. Anyone confirm this?
Anyways for instant messenging I've been using Fringe which has been working great PLUS you can use Skype out/in and the earpiece NOT THE SPEAKERPHONE which finally makes skype usable on a winmo phone.

This has been a problem I've been encountering and I have been tracking this on RREs and NAFTs ROM pages. One of the moderators PM'd me and said DAG had a fix for this...not sure.
Anyways on NAFTs earlier ROMs I did not have this problem but every since just before X-mas I've been having this problem..really sucks...works fine in the manila player though...

I am noticing a different issue with 4.1. I use a bluetooth headset almost daily. Today, when I used my headset, I could not control the volume from the phone. Normally, I can adjust the volume of the headset from either the headset itself or the phone, but not now. When I was using v4, I could adjust the volume with no issues. As a matter of fact, I could adjust the volume all the way up on the headset, and then still be able to turn it up more with the phone. It worked the same way turning the volume down. I have not noticed any other issues with 4.1.

anybody try this for wm issues? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3144962&postcount=353
I did..that is not a fix...because you will need WMP to rebuild your library and if you play a WM DRM protected file those too folders will just get rebuilt.
When I deleted and picked the file to play it worked fine...after rebuilding my library the same old crash..song was over 6 mbs and at 192 kbps and encoded in WMA

I thought I had that problem too, until I realized I was adjusting the "Ring" volume on the phone, and not the "System" volume. Even though I kept switching it back to System volume, it kept adjusting the Ring volume when pressing the side buttons. A soft reset seemed to clear it up, though.

In 4.0 my outgoing text messages go to the outbox and sit there forever. I recieve texts but they only show up in TF3D with no notification... I can't see them in the messaging app.
Anyone else experience this? Is this the SMS bug that's gone?

Ok...while my testing was interrupted by a phone call, I did manage to determine the following:
SMS is working exactly as it should. I send numerous messages back and forth and the unread issue appears to be a thing of the past (THANK GOODNESS!).
GPS is working much like GPS always has for me in v3+. But I think the location and structure of my new house is partly to blame. If there was a nice day upon us, I might venture outside...but I'm sick and not daring to deal with the blizzard out there now. :)
I am not having the WMP or BT issues being reported by others. Did you all perform a hard reset after flashing, BEFORE completing initial screen alignment? I found that this can make a HUGE difference in the performance of a newly installed ROM. Most issues that seem to only be affecting YOU are probably due to "ghosts" of the old ROM haunting you. ;)
The only thing I'm noticing is:
In previous ROMs, the task manager and the SIP change to diamond keys would run before TF3D.
In this one, it loads TF3D right away and then takes its good ol' time loading the SIP, task manager and other startup progs, all the while "freezing" the screen for a moment each time it loads an item.
It's not a huge issue, but I thought I'd point it out. It could lead to an issue with startup progs that want to load before TF3D.
Otherwise, I think v4.1 may be the best version yet if this alpha is any indication. :D

My first month's phone bill would seem to be pretty clear proof of this, not to mention the long-bill details that listed every yahoo message as a counted text message.
Interestingly enough, IM's through OZ don't have the typical 160 character limit that txt messages do, so that was another factor that convinced me to enjoy OZ the first month, to my shock when I got the bill.

I have an unlimited SMS plan so OZ may be useful for general IM availability because most of the IM clients that use data are so realtime that they drain batteries like the plague! I'll save the power hungry for when I need the feature rich.

After a bit of trial-and-error, I think that some of my recent GPS issues may be due to the SD card driver issues - as all of my maps are located on the card itself (Note: prior to 4.0 I wasn't getting any locks at all). I noticed this because I actually did get a lock earlier today, but then the device almost immediately froze up - at the exact moment it would've redrawn the screen on one of the detail maps loaded onto the storage card.
Along the same lines, I've found that the device seems to sometimes randomly "forget" there's a card inserted - causing certain programs to crash, and other programs to simply prompt for a save location (if I was using files on the card). A soft reset fixes it temporarily, and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to when it happens. Loading HTC Album, however, always locks up the device for me - I have thousands of photos on the SD card...

For now, I've gone back to V3.2 and everything is working perfectly fine. GP lock is super fast. Fuze hasn't frozen on me yet. NATF, the SD drivers you have on V3.2 work fine, why not just port them to V4.1? if it ain't broke....

Was away for holidays and just loaded V4. Then added to OCN8 sys.txt as before:
[device]
sdcard_dsk-num=7
OCN8 opens and goes to menue screen but then freezes and soft resets. I notice alot of others have had same problem.
In v4 the GPS works faster with better fix in Google Mobile Maps but OCN8 will not run. I have 8GB sd card OCN8 version.
In v3 even though GPS did not have a fast fix I had no problems with OCN8.
Has anyone figured out what problem is with v4?

After installing 4.1 and finishing the NATF customization, I pulled up TF3D Config. The list of tweaks on the "tweaks" tab is empty (reverified after another hard reset).
I uninstalled TF3D config and installed the one that was listed as fixing a problem for 4.0 (diamondtf3dconfig[1].cab, which NATF cooked into the 4.1 ROM), and I had the same problem. So I uninstalled that one and installed the one I have been using with NATF 2.2 and it works fine (Diamond TF3D Config Setup v0.6.7.CAB).
I got the "Diamond TF3D Config Setup v0.6.7.CAB" from the "essentials" pack from this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=459335).

Thanks, NATF, for a great release. I've run into a couple of issues in 4.1 which I verified also existed in 4.0.
Inbox scrolling: With a large number of messages in a mail account inbox, I use a thumb flick gesture to initiate momentum scrolling. I should be able to us a single thumb tap to stop scrolling. Instead, the single thumb tap to stop is interpreted as a side swipe gesture, which causes the inbox view to jump to the next account. In other words, I can't stop scrolling without changing what mail account I'm looking at. Other Touch Pro / Fuze ROMs haven't had this issue. I've tried fiddling with Touch Flo pressure sensitivity settings in Advanced Config, but no changes there seem to have an impact.
Dialing: I have my wife set up as a Touch Flo 3d favorite person. When she's selected on the People tab in TF3d, her name and default phone number show up beneath her picture. There's a little phone icon to the left of her name/number which initiates a call to that number. When I tap on that number to initiate a call to her, the dialing window opens up and the call is initiated. I see her name flash briefly at the top of that window, but then her name is quickly replaced by my name. It's obvious that the dialer is, for some idiotic reason, looking up the number its dialing in my contact list, finding me, and is then replacing her name with my name. This may sound minor, but it has the annoying consequence of leaving my name, not hers, in the call history - which makes it hard for me to use the call history to call a different number of hers (her mobile number). Any clue if this is fixable?
Thanks again for the great release!

I flashed 4.1 this morning, and of course, its awesome! Great job NATF!
The two problems that i have found are as follows:
1. In the Comm Manager, if you turn off the Data Connection. it wont go back on without a hard reset.
2. If I open the keypad, it closes the program that I am working in, and goes to the Landscape home page. For instance, if Im in Opera and I click in the address bar to type in a web address, when I slide out the keypad, it closes Opera and goes to the Landscape home page.
Is anyone else having this problem? If not, I will reflash. The problems that I was having with the 4.1 Test ROM have been fixed, but now I have these.
Thanks again NATF - Youre the best!

try the "disable T9" cab, if you look for the attached files in this thread and/or the archived versions of NATF'S ROMs threads, it should be in there.

i really new to this whole flashing thing. i was hoping someone could tell me the SPECIFIC differences between the FUZE and TOUCH PRO versions in the roms themselves. like are there different programs, difference in performance... and also the difference between the REGULAR and LITE versions. whats "missing" and whats else is different
thanks
The only major difference is the keyboards so if you have a Fuze install the Fuze rom and if you have any other GSM phone with the number keys at the top of the keyboard install the Touch pro version

I can tell you that I use Windows Media Player exclusively to play my MP3 library. My 8gb SD card is 70% full of nothing but MP3s. The bitrates range from 128 to 256 kbps. I have never had a reboot on my Fuze while using WMP.
80% of the time, I'm using the USB adapter into my car stereo. However, I do use my Sony BT headphones, and have experienced no issues
XC
Do you add mp3 files to the card in activesync or disk drive mode, and with media player sync, explorer copy paste, or mobile device center?

If anyone who's got the wmp crash is brave enough to load up the debug tools from my post in the raphael software forum (msm-72xx low level configuration tools)
the debugtool lets you store a debug log to the sd card if you input value 43d in the debug field and soft reset.. then you can make it crash, boot up again, and copy the log from the \Storage Card\HTCLog folder to your comp through activesync.. zip it up and post it.. the debug log should at least have a pointer as to what's causing the crash..
Not for the uninitiated though, a very real chance of screwing the pooch with debug tool :P

Just installed NATF...still have issues with WMP. At least it is a little better than before with both NATF and RRE's ROMs.
I formatted and reloaded my SD Card. One of the songs that I know was causing problems (its 6.1 mbs, 192 kbps, WMA) stops and starts BUT at least it does not reboot phone. I am able to push fast forward and it will finally move on to a new song...
At least this is an improvement. I didn't have any of these problems in the 2 series of NAFTs ROMs...
Did it occur to you that you might have a partially corrupted file? It's difficult to tell for sure because some PC media players will just skip the corrupted part and play just fine. I used to have this problem with an MP3...Winamp would crash during the last 0:27 like clockwork but would play fun in WMP...it wasn't until I opened the file in SoundForge that it informed me of the error and offered to repair it. Winamp didn't crash after that.
I have attempted playblack of several large MP3 and WMA files (all in excess of 6MB...I have a lot of remixes) without any problem.
<snip>
I am sure this ROM Flash will be as good as the rest. Do any of you use SPB Backup and the ROM restore option? I am wondering how it does with programs etc. or should I just bite the bullet and reinstall my apps clean.
I am asking becuase some of the intalled apps I have now are the fixes that NATF already included, like the title bar fix and diamond config.
I have found that this can be a hit or miss. Generally, stock ROMs have a finite number of major changes between versions...but these cooked ROMs have been tweaked to the hilt. Sometimes I can restore with SPB and all will seem well, other times it is problematic. I typically use SPB to restore backups on the same ROM when I've hard reset to track down an issue. If I install a new version, I restore with PPCPIMBackup and then install my apps via my SD card's cab folder. This ensures that my backup doesn't overwrite new features of the new ROM. If I restore my v3.2 backup on v4.x, for example, I lose the haptic feedback completely. I've been meaning to master UC, but I just haven't had time.
<snip>
This is happening because the Dialer searches your contacts from A-Z searching for a name that matches the number you are dialing. If you have the number stored for both you and your wife, and her name comes after yours, then it will choose your name as the log ID regardless of what TF3D says. If you remove the number from your name, then it will show her's again.
<snip>
<snip>
I cannot recreate either of these two problems. Did you hard reset after flashing? When it boots for the first time and prompts you to touch the screen to set up the device, hold VolDown+Center Button and press reset with the stylus, hold the VolDown+Center buttons until it comes up with the hard reset prompt.

The only major difference is the keyboards so if you have a Fuze install the Fuze rom and if you have any other GSM phone with the number keys at the top of the keyboard install the Touch pro version
what about the standard and lite versions? and which ROM has the best performance, FUZE or Touch Pro. - multiple replies would greatly be appreciated
TheWebMachine

what about the standard and lite versions?
The Standard Version includes a number of stock and updated applications that NATF (and a number of others) use daily. The Lite version is slimmed down by removing most of these extra apps...it's a pretty bare ROM for those who don't want the "bulk" of the Standard Version. See post #4 for a list of the apps in the Standard Version.
I just realized that I didn't answer your full question. Both the Fuze and TP versions are based off the same ROM builds...the only differences are; Fuze: Fuze KB Layout and AT&T network settings, TP: Standard TP KB Layout and HTC's Connection Wizard for all other networks. If you own a Fuze on ATT, install the Fuze version. If you own a TP on any other network, install the TP version. If you own a Fuze on another network, either install the TP version and the Fuze KB layout or install the Fuze version and the HTC Connection Wizard...my guess is the first arrangement will yield the best results.

Is anyone else having this problem? If not, I will reflash. The problems that I was having with the 4.1 Test ROM have been fixed, but now I have these.
Thanks again NATF - Youre the best!
I'm experiencing similar problem with Data Connection, although not as severe as to require hard-reset. Even though Data Connection is set to "Always ON", and "Disconnect After..." is disabled it still gets killed soon after boot up is completed.
The only way I get it to sort of behave is to switch to GSM (EDGE speeds) and then back to 3G (to get HSDPA speeds). But even if I do so, after browsing the Net and closing Opera, connection dies and will not restart automatically when connection is needed :( So I need to perform that 3G-GSM->3G cycle again :(
Pretty annoying behavior, despite the fact that overall I think 4.1 is great!

I've noticed, since at least v3.2, that the device "initiates" a momentary connection on boot and then disconnects. After that, all data connectivity works just fine. Perhaps this behavior is affecting your "always on" setting? Why are you using the "always on" setting anyway? By default, once connected, the device will remained connected until you manually disconnect or soft reset the device. The "always on" setting seems redundant in this case.

Is your card formatted FAT32 like NATF suggested?
Mine is and iGO 8.3 works perfectly from the SD Card.
OK, I spoke too soon. I went out driving and using iGo 8.3 off the SD card eventually started resetting the device on me.
So I seem to be affected by the same SD card issue others are. I have an 8GB Kingston SDHC card formatted FAT32.

I have this problem as well. Haven't experienced similar issues when 'flick scrolling' in other apps on this ROM - only with mail and only in the inbox list view. Anyone else discover a fix or workaround.
Thanks.

SPB gave me the shaft today.... Fired up a backup of all my goodies before doing the flash.... and went to restore said goodies and BAM!!! Corrupted file.... (Backed up using App on Fuze to my storage card)
Thankfully NaTF has so many releases that another backup was only a week ago... all my lovely txts!!!!!
That being said, i am unsure how the corruption occured, also i had to flash via USB because the boot loader didn't see the rom file on the card... Odd, since i always the newest rom on the card for emergency flashes...
Also, last week after a reset my card was full of gibberish files and i eneded up having to backup the leftovers to my PC and format it...
Note: None of the above is a question, just comments...

I'm getting ActiveSync errors when trying to Sync with my work PC. Exchange server connection gives "Support Code: 80070057" and Windows PC connection gives "Support Code: 80070008".
Over the last 4 weeks, I was able to get my Fuze to sync with this PC effortlessly. It worked perfect the first time, every time. That was with the stock ROM, NATF v3.0 and NATF v2.2. NATF v4.1 is the first one that's giving me headaches.
I even tried to "Delete Mobile Device" in ActiveSync (which I've never had to do before) and a soft reset of the Fuze, but it made no difference.
Captain_Throwback decided that his problems were with the SD card being partitioned. I have a 4 Gig card and it has never been partitioned. Actually, I only have about 516 Megs of data on it.
I jumped from NATF v2.2 to v4.1. I guess I'll try NATF v3.2 now.

First of all, what an AWESOME ROM! (4.1) Well done! Really!
As far as I know, I am having one problem, and it's a major one at that. I am pulling my hair out here, and I really hope someone could give me a hand or point me in the right direction. I did a search Forum-wide, and not sure what's up.. Feedback is soooo welcome!
Although everything works great using Wi-Fi, when I try surfing with either IE or Opera, and I am on GPRS, I can't do it! "Page not Found" across the board.
What is making me crazy is....
....I am able to send and receive e-mails!
....My 1-calc is able to update currency rates!
....The TF3D weather screen updates like a charm...!
...but NO surfing. no facebook. No Youtube. No Google.
I am using Rogers, up here in Canada.
All the settings seem to be fine (APN:internet.com; wapuser1; wapuser; etc...)
...But I just cannot browse the web.
I took my SIM card out, put it in my TyTN, and can surf like a champ.
Any ideas/thoughts/feedback are so welcomed!
Sounds like some kinda DNS issue, considering the weather; calculator; e-mail works..
ANyone else hear of this problem?
Is it specific to NATF's ROM?
Thanks!

Ok, before flashing to v3.2 and wiping out my v4.1 testbed, I thought I'd test the "SD Card driver" theory that NATF and Captain_Throwback decided was the problem with v4.0. So here's what I did:
1) Shutdown Fuze and remove the SD card.
2) Power up Fuze and wait for it to finish loading.
3) Go to ActiveSync on PC and Delete Mobile Device.
4) Plug in USB cable to Fuze.
5) Walk through the ActiveSync Synchronization Wizard just like I've done before.
This time, ActiveSync worked just fine.
So, even though I keep very little data on my SD card (My Documents, all my CAB files, some notes, a hand full of pics and about a dozen songs), just the presence of the SD card caused ActiveSync problems.
Since I normally have an SD card installed, I can't exactly rely on this "work around". But at least this is important information for NATF, Da_G and others to see if they can figure out where the problem might lie.
By the way, many thanks to NATF, Da_G and many others for cooking ROMs and supporting all of us who do not. :)
J. C.
PS,
I followed the steps above and replaced the SD card. I have ActiveSync problems again, as expected. So with 4.1, I can choose SD card or ActiveSync, but not both.

With the card installed try using the task manager and hit stop all, and immediately try to sync again. That solved the problem I was having in 4.0. Also are there any tweaks you use that would take up extra memory? The TFL3D tweaks in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=413562 have caused problems with active sync for me and at least 1 other user. Last thing I would check is if immediatley after a hard reset, with no UC or other installations, and with the card installed, try to sync.

nableezy and I were on the same wavelength. I decided to Hard Reset and try to ActiveSync again. The results were not what I expected. IT WORKED!
Yes, with the SD card installed, I was able to get the ActiveSync connection to work just fine on NATF v4.1 immediatly after a hard reset.
Previously, I had my usual customizations in place (FuzeBerry v5, registry tweaks, about 10 CABs installed, etc...).
Now that I have ActiveSync working and v4.1 still flashed, I'll go through my steps (which I detailed very carefully earlier today) one-by-one and see which change causes problems.
I'll report back when I figure out the problem.

Figures... I haven't had any issues with my Windows Media Player... until 4.1. I'm going to retest with pre4.1, just in case it is working there...
If I browse the library, pick the song no matter how, via genre, playlist, whatever... it locks up and slows to a crawl seconds after start.
If I use file explorer (I usually use Resco) to navigate to the same mp3... it plays just fine.

After determining that the ROM wasn't the cause of the ActiveSync problems (by connecting to ActiveSync immediately after a Hard Reset), I started walking through my customizations one-by-one to see which one caused my problems.
The problem was a registry tweak that I do as my normal customization:
HKLM\System\Storagemanager\Fatfs and change key Cachesize from 16384 to 32768
I got that tweak (and others) from reading this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398265).
Here's the list in detail of what I did tonight. Periodically, I would check ActiveSync (doing a "Delete Mobile Device" and walking through the ActiveSync wizard) to make sure things were still okay. It wasn't until the last step listed below that I had a problem. I rolled back that last registry change, and everything worked fine.
Hard reset (with SIM and SD card in place).
Finish customizing (Windows and NATF), phone auto-rebooted when NATF customization was finished.
Installed Fuzeberry v5 (to Device) (turn off TF3D, install cab, auto-reboot, turn on TF3D)
TF3D Config had an empty Tweaks listing, so I uninstalled it and reinstalled "Diamond TF3D Config Setup v0.6.7.CAB" from SD card.
Programs->Tools->TF3D Config:
Reorder tabs
ManualScreenRotation (checked)
TF3D Config required a reboot of the Fuze.
Installed Diamond Tweak 0.5.3_English.cab (to device), but didn't make any changes.
Go to Programs->Advanced Config (acknowledge the warning and check the box that it doesn’t appear in the future).
Performances – Filter cache 131072
Input – Keyboard backlight timeout 30 seconds
Locations – My Documents to Storage Card\My Documents
Change all DEFAULT STORAGE entries to \Storage Card\My Documents\ and then the folder name (pictures etc.)
Programs->Advanced Config:
To improve the keyboard response time go to
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd and change InitialDelay from what ever number it is (346 or whatever) to 50
To boost TFL3D Performance go to
HKLM\System\Storagemanager\Fatfs and change key Cachesize from 16384 to 32768
Like I said, I rolled back that change to Fatfs Cachesize and I'm sync'ing fine now.
I'm going to continue testing NATF v4.1 now. Whew.

Wow, that's not too surpsiing. CacheSize is a value in records, not bytes, and WinMo is using a 2048byte sector size..
At the default raphael setting of 2048, that's 2048*2048=4MB cache..
My ROM bumps the value to it's ms-recommended maximum of 4096*2048=8MB cache..
at your value of 16384, you're talking 32MB ram for the cache.. and at 32768, you're talking 64MB.. o.O

I just installed this ROM today (FUZE 4.1 Standard), and I'm really impressed.
I do have just one question, and I didn't see it addressed in this thread yet.
When browsing either in PocketIE or Opera provided in the ROM, I cannot seem to get the D-Pad navigation to move from field to field.
I tried the Registry tweak
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Navigation\
Change the 4-Way Nav to 1.
But it didn't seem to work.

I think you are referring to "File system cache size", which can be accessed from Advanced Config->Performances. Mine is set to 8MB, too (I think that value is cooked into NATF's ROM).
My problem was with HKLM\System\Storagemanager\Fatfs\Cachesize, which sounds similar, but must be a different setting altogether. I didn't see a way to set that from within Adv Config.

I have upgraded from v3 to 4.1 rom and have began having a problems with the keyboard. When pressing the FN key the numbers will not be typed, instead I get a capital letter of the non FN item on the Key. Also when I press the buttons on the top row of keys I do not get the correct item. They type 1 thru 10 (left to right) and then a - and = for the last two keys.

irus: this keypad.dll has been modified for me to support PTTMod to change key bindings. There is an entire OEM package you will need to go with this dll for proper support to cook it into your ROM. Please PM me for a link to the OEM as I am not the author (xcsdm is) and I do not want to distribute it publicly without his permission. :)

The doc certainly agrees with what you were saying. Regardless, I was just being a lemming and following some "suggested values" to help boost performance. The suggestion of 32768 causes problems. This is an undisputed fact. What seems odd is that any time I've checked that value after flashing, it has been set to 16384 already. I don't know if that's in the NATF ROM, FuzeBerry or a side effect of something else.
You can look at my step-by-step breakdown and see that by the time I get around to changing the Cachesize, it has already been set to 16384 by something. My assumption is that 16384 is cooked into the ROM. Now that I have things working, I'm not interested enough in this to hard reset to find out. :)
With that said, I do wonder if the value should be reduced from 16384 to 4096. I'll give that a try and see if I notice any difference in responsiveness (due to more free RAM).
Thanks,

Posting a color scheme (.TSK) for the phone. I use Fuzeberry and the solid black theme, but navigating around with the green highlight wasnt very fun. So i modified the file to use the grey from the HTC_Black, but left out the 'shine'. Anyone that would rather have the grey instead of the green can grab this.
Note - It seems the start menu color is not affected by any choosen .TSK and will remain green. If i can find it and change it, i will post an updated file.
NaTF - Loving the v4.1, Speedy and havent had any active sync issues...
Current issue i am working on is the Music from SD card via WMP.... time to start finding the proper combo of settings.... Oddly, music plays just fine through HTC Audio Player..

That's because you installed the wrong version. You have a Fuze and you installed the Touch Pro version. Search for the Fuze Keyboard Fix cab and you can install that to correct your problem.
I'm currently working on remapping the Fuze CAPS to TAB and OK to CTRL in a reliable manner. Anyone know a quick and easy way to do this? The one keyboard remapper I tried didn't seem to want to map those keys. I don't want the full TP layout, just those two keys remapped similar to the TP...most importantly the CTRL. I use CTRL functions often with RDP and SSH remote sessions.
<snip>
So I seem to be affected by the same SD card issue others are. I have an 8GB Kingston SDHC card formatted FAT32.
All I can say is that every Kingston SDHC card I've every owned lived a very short and unreliable life. I only buy Sandisk these days. They are leading in capacity as well as quality.
Have you tried disabling the proxy? I used to have similar results before I disabled the proxy. I believe there are a couple of cabs that do this in the extras section.
If you encounter problems with the cabs and you are on the Fuze with a non-ATT provider, you can always install the TP version and the Fuze Keyboard Fix cab. Sometimes it's easier to change the keyboard layout than to remove proxy information from the OS, Opera, and whatever other apps manage to have picked up the proxy settings up along the way. I used to do as much on the Tilt when I was with T-Mo.
<snip>
PS,
I followed the steps above and replaced the SD card. I have ActiveSync problems again, as expected. So with 4.1, I can choose SD card or ActiveSync, but not both.
What size is your card, what is the make and class, and how, exactly, is it formatted?
Some cards have VERY unexpected effects if formatted certain ways. I believe the "safe" format is FAT32(4096 sectors). If you are using Kingston cards, see my remarks above. ;)

I just installed 4.1. I was able to sync with Exchange w/o removing my SD Card. However, HTC Album still seems to completely bog down my device, and won't recognize my Storage Card without manual intervention. iGO is also still crashing on me.
Could the Blackstone HTC Album be the problem? That seems to be the only thing that's been consistently lagging (at least in my case) in the v4 ROMs.

The "Buttons" setting screen now allows you to change all of those function keys at the bottom. That wasn't an issue...those were all linked to shortcuts anyway. But the CAPS(TAB) and OK(CTRL) keys are coded elsewhere. If there was a way to map a keyboard code (necessary to replicate a TAB or CTRL keypress) in a shortcut link, then it would be easy to set up in "Settings">"Buttons." I just figured that the CAPS key is redundant (double press of Shift does the same thing) and I never use the OK key (and that's where CTRL is on TP...THANKS ATT! *flips the bird*).

I'm having to go back to 3.2 right now because of the issues with OCN8. I'll reflash as soon as I read these problems are worked out. In the meantime I'm missing the Haptic touch response. Is this a separate program I can install or was it a feature cooked into the ROM.
As usual, thanks for all the help!

I can confirm this issue with my 16GB Sandisk, as well. I think this is an issue with the Album program. I'm not sure which version of Album NATF is using in this build. v4.0 was using the latest version of Album from Blackstone. I didn't use v4.0 long enough to test this issue there. It may be to blame due to difference in resolutions between devices.

I can't duplicate your issues. Both my calendar and camera work in every detail. Did you perform a hard reset (VolDown+Center+Reset) after flashing the new ROM?
I really think NATF should mention this in the first post: I've noticed that these new builds don't do a clear storage on first boot so YOU MUST DO A HARD RESET AFTER FLASHING THE LATEST ROM. From what I can tell, this corrects virtually every "random" issue that is affecting one or two people as soon as they upgrade to the latest. It doesn't take but 30 seconds of your day to do the extra hard reset and it ensures a smooth transition between versions. Even if it corrects 1 potential issue, it's worth the effort. :)
Other random observations:
NATF uses a "Secret Recipe" cab during cold boot config...I'm guessing it contains "11 Tweaks and Patches." :D
NATF modified the first introduction screen (first one you can skip, after the alignment screen) to his liking...and mine! Nice touch! :)

Hah, I'm kinda new to flashing phones and WM devices in general, but you're probably right on with that statement. I've been into the PSP scene for years and anyone with a non Sony or Sandisk memory stick has run into issues when using them with custom firmware including lockups and corrupted files. 2. Once i choose to go back to album this pic has still highlighted and the album was froze. After about 10 seconds i was actually able to hit the home screen and go without it crashing the Tf3d or having to soft reset, but after i went back to cam tab and then album it would just flash and come back tab screen and not enter.
3. I still have an issue with WMP.

I can confirm that I am having the same issue with the comm manager on 4.1 not letting me turn on my data connection. Not a big issue at the moment because everything that needs it turns it on automatically, and once the data connection is on you can use the comm manager to turn it back off, but kinda weird.
On a completely separate note, this ROM is much faster that 3.2 and I am very happy with that. It's as fast, if not faster, than the 2.3 flash I did. Fantastic ROM.

Yeah, I addd the line to the sys.txt file on the storage card, too. OCN8 (under NATF 4.0, 4.1) doesn't crash for me generally until I go to look for a POI. Are you able to successfully find a POI and get back to the map screen without locking up?

(As previously reported) The Slideshow function shows a black screen.
Diamond TF3D Config "Tweaks" tab is blank. I'll try to uninstall/reinstall to see if that fixes the problem.
Thanks for the great ROM, NATF!

I can confirm that I am having the same issue with the comm manager on 4.1 not letting me turn on my data connection. Not a big issue at the moment because everything that needs it turns it on automatically, and once the data connection is on you can use the comm manager to turn it back off, but kinda weird.
I confirm I have same problem.
Data Connection can be turned off using Communication Manager but not on. Data Connection does turn on with program requiring it.

+1 on the slideshow black screen. I can see my pics in the Album (\Storage Card\My Documents\My Pictures), but just a black screen for slideshow.
My music is not found by TF3D music tab. It searches and searches but never finds any music files (stored on \Storage Card\My Documents\My Music). I can use Total Command to browse to the files and double-click on the mp3. Plays fine in WMP that way.
I played with Google Maps today. GPS seemed to work fine. Still took 2-3 minutes for a lock. Started QuickGPS (clicked Download), then started GPS Test (clicked Minimize), then started GoogleMaps. Eventually, Google found 8 satellites and tracked me just fine.
Everything else seems to work well. I even played around with WiFi for the first time this afternoon. Connected just fine to my router (hidden network, WEP, no DNS or DHCP enabled). Just plugged in all the parameters (network name, WEP key, static IP) and was connected in no time.

Yeah, I addd the line to the sys.txt file on the storage card, too. OCN8 (under NATF 4.0, 4.1) doesn't crash for me generally until I go to look for a POI. Are you able to successfully find a POI and get back to the map screen without locking up?
The port defaults to port 4 for me, but I'll try changine the baud rate when I get ready to reflash 4.1.
Thanks a bunch,
Stuart
I spoke too soon. I had OCN8 working fine yesterday with v4.1 standard. I changed nothing and now after OCN8 loads it freezes and phone does soft reset again as it did with v4.0.

I'm having the same problem -- slide open the keyboard for a text box entry, and it goes to the landscape home page.
<EDIT>
Turns out it was one of Zitoun's themes (graph). The default theme and a couple others of his are fine.

For those with the data connection not wanting to turn on.
Start->Settings->Connections->Connections->Manage Existing Connections
Edit MEdia Net and check the access point name.
It should read : wap.cingular :
I have seen where the system has a nasty habit of switching the access point name to : ims.cingular : which does not allow connection. I personally create a new connection called "TheInternet" - choose Cellular GPRS/3G and set the access point name to wap.cingular, and leave the username and password blank. Once that is done, i set it as default and my data on/off issues go away.

My fault, the settings are for Wi-Fi.
Ok, this is how it works on mine. If i turn data connection off via comm manager, i cannot turn it back on. I need to use an app that needs internet to get it back on. Makes some sense since you dont need data turned on if your not using it.
When i say, update weather.. it turns the data connection on... and it stays on.
I use exchange for my active sync and it is set to get items as they arrive, so it holds the data connection open. Same with my windows live account.
So, if your not on wi-fi, and not using data... i wouldnt worry about it...
Unless you like having the data connection open always, get an app that starts with phone and is constantly checking the net... in my case activesync..

It seems that the Comm Manager is just a Dummy Toggle... It does not request data from the network so it can not just activate the connection. It does however flip the switch to off.... Its main function is probably just for status and to turn it off to avoid data usage... funny as it is, activesync when turned on will not allow me to turn data connection off....

NATF 4.1 ROM has worked great for me except I couldn't connect in ActiveSync. After multiple reboots, repair attempts, swapping with another PPC which did connect, etc., in desperation I took a nod from the above snojcb post and changed this Cachesize from 16384 to 32768 in Total Commander. After this change, ActiveSync immediately connected and has worked perfectly ever since.
This is very strange. Note I did the reverse of what snojcb had to do (since he backed out his change from 32768 to 16384). It almost seems ActiveSync just needed a whack in the side of its head by making any related registry change. I bet that if snocjb increased his Cachesize back up to 32768, ActiveSync would still continue to work for him.

The latest Spb Backup promises to restore after ROM burning, which sounds great (and Spb products generally are great)... but would this really work? NATF ROMs generally do a bunch of configuring and installing following the Hard Reset. If one used Spb Backup to restore the system following a ROM replacement, would that smash and overwrite all the custom NATF post-burn configurations with the pre-burn versions?

All I know is what it says on the Spb website:
"Can be restored after ROM upgrade (ROM upgrade mode)..."
Also, according to a review at http://gadgetmix.com/index/?p=44, Spb Backup 2 backs up PIM data and:
"It also supports ROM upgrade mode, i.e you can restore your old backup even after a ROM upgrade. Another very useful feature of SPB Backup v2.0 is that it supports device upgrade mode, i.e you can restore the backup of one device in another."

Could anyone perhaps provide some pointers as to how I could incorporate RemoteTracker and its configuration in my ROM (so it'll be Hard Reset safe?)
RemoteTracker forum here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2468961&highlight=cook#post2468961
Basically, all that needs to be done is to add a couple files (the app itself, one's personal configuration .dll, an autorun shortcut) to the ROM, although I've explored a few venues and have been unable to figure out the best method of doing so.
Is this useful at all (enable writing to the extROM)? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=297085
Sorry, I've never cooked before - and was hoping/wondering if there's a way to just "add" it to a pre-existing ROM...so upgrading to future NATF revisions would still be as painless as possible :)
Thanks in advance for any wisdom!

Nice touch! :)
ive done tons of hard resets, but the camera issue is still there. i found one of my manila files that i modded with manilaeditor was causing the calender problem. but i think either my camera is bad or i need a reflash because at this point hard resets dont fix the camera. ive also noticed sometimes the camera works and sometimes it doesnt...*sigh* dont really want to go through warranty but i might have to.

I just tried the eT9 method and my device now resets when I try to use the hardware keyboard. I might have done something wrong, but I'm using instructions provided by Da_G. I dunno. Also, eT9 is popping up when I have it completely disabled with word completions, which are off, too. I have tried everything to disable them and they keep popping up at random while in landscape mode using the hardware keyboard. It's annoying...and must be a keyboard or eT9 issue in the ROM. I'm going to try the eT9 registry disable mentioned a few pages back. Hopefully, it won't disable my full diamond keyboard. I'll post my results.

Are you still on the stock radio? My GPS lock times improved with 4.0+ but was still well over a minute compared to the seconds others were quoting. I flashed
