I have a couple of things to say about this new rom.

First, thanks NATF for all your hard work, it is a really great rom :)

Second, i had a couple of issues with this new rom, like the screen not rotating when i slide out the keyboard, and problems with the weather, along with a couple others that I can't remember, but they seem to have fixed them selves over time, which I think is very odd ;)

Just flashed to 4.2.
Now, when I plug it into a wall charger, it prompts me to choose ActiveSync, Disk Drive or Internet Sharing. Anyone else seeing this?

I've tried a couple different wall chargers and a car charger. They all do it.

The charge current ((using AEB's Uptime Report) also never goes above 260. Not sure if this really means it only uses trickle charge mode, but I often got charge currents over 600 using a wall charger.

I had this also when I first flashed to v4.2. I made a selection and it has never come back since. It did harm my Fuze in any way.

Is there a way to set the phone to disconnect the data connection after its not used for a certain amount of time?

There are numerous tools out there to do this.

search for

advance config
diamond tweak

they should help you out, I think the only draw back with autodisconnect is you can't simulaneously use voice/data... unless a fix has been implemented since last time I used it

I noticed alot of of battery drain with 4.2 until I disabled haptic feedback.. Once I did that everything seem to be back to normal.. Anyone else agree with this finding?

Oh, One other thing.. When I enable -- Long Press End Key-- then select option Lock device..

It works for the first couple of trys and then fails to work.. anyone else see this? How are most people locking the handset.. Just tapping the power button?

Thanks.

No problem for me...Did you take SIM and SD cards out before v4.2 flash and do hard reset?

Is there a way to set the phone to disconnect the data connection after its not used for a certain amount of time?

As skyfox said, you can use Advanced Config, which is included in the Standard ROMs, but you will lose simultaneous voice/data.

NATF, what about video call? In 4.1 works well, but in 4.2 freez phone after 2 sec.

Unfortunately I have no way to test video calling here in the US. The only thing I can think of it that the 20764 OS may have issues with Video Calling.

I can't say that the haptic feedback has reduced my battery as I disable it pretty quick after the flash, but without it enabled, after a full day of bluetooth, google maps, and texting, I am only down to 50%. I just use the power button to turn off the screen, but I think that was a habit I developed after using my Treo for so long. (It's battery went dead fast if I didn't turn the screen off.)

What exactly was this disaster?

NATF I think that some may be refering to At&t Video Share service.

Also, i think my battery drain has something to do with Activesync staying connected. Just ran through another battery from 100 percent to 8 percent in 3 hours with no calling and no data

What rom version are you using? This was a known issue in 4.1 (maybe 4.0 but cant remember). It has been fixed in 4.2. The soft key is still slideshw but at least it works correctly:D

Did you perform a hard reset at the "screen setup" screen after flashing? From what i understand that helps make sure of a nice and clean flash. Also I think NATF posted a HTC Album Fix cab earlier in the thread. Cant remember what it was supposed to fix though.

EDIT: Well that din't seem to work, is there a way i can make it the default menu

Im gonna try to load up my sd card with some more photos and try the slideshow. Right now I only have about 10 photos on there. Also what folder do you have your photos in? Mine are in Storage Card\My Documents\My Photos

I think NATF is using the updated HTC Album from the Diamond. The default may actually be slideshow. Since I am still fairly new to understanding roms I might be mistaken. I will still update with my 1gb of pics test

Edit: Loading about 1gb worth of pics right now. Says about 15min. I'll update after they have transfered and I have tested Slideshow
Edit2: With over 350 pics in card slideshow is still working. I would try reflashing. I know its a hassle but it will probably be the first thing most people here would suggest as well. Did you download 4.2 FIXED or the first 4.2 that came out? Never tried slideshow on the first 4.2 since bluetooth didnt work untill 4.2 FIXED

I'm noticing the battery drain too, have no idea what it is b/c before this ROM flash battery was great for me.

Update: Reflashed the ROM, battery still went down. So I then reflashed the radio I was using and so far it seems to have fixed the battery drainage issue thus far. Will be monitoring it tonight and throughout the day tomorrow.

I loved that phone!, It was like family to me...

I'd wake up, look at it and smile. I'd take it with me everywhere. I'd hold it comfortingly...

And just like that, a cingular test ROM took it all away from me!

Just an update.

NATF,

I am experiencing no problems that have been posted.

Here is what I have installed
Audio_Lighter_Boost
BeejiveIM
Dashwire
Google Maps
iGuidance
hTorch
Iris Browser
MobileMatt Fuze 7 theme
NATF xt9 Disable
NATF WorldCard Mobile
Sky Fire
Touch Lock Pro

Everything works as it should. Not getting any Opera errors. I was left with 50% battery by the end of the day, which includes plenty of texting, web browsing, and a few phone calls.

I am running 4.2 with my stock radio. SD card was removed during flash, SIM card was not. Also, plugging the phone into my wall charger acts normal.

So far so good!

NATF changed the name of the folder in the start menu to "Productivity." ;)

I am running v4.2-FIXED and managed to restore my v4.1 SPBBackup without incident. I installed the disable xt9 and lost diamond full qwerty usage again. Whatever, I use the hardware keyboard more often, anyway and the auto-suggest is eternally annoying.

@NATF: Consider this my official request to be included in your v5 alpha testing. :)

Also, what build is the current rilphone from? I think I may be having the battery drain issue...I just had a one hour phone call cost me 75% battery. I'm lucky if I used 20-25% on v4.1 for the same talk time. I'm thinking we may need to use a different Radio. I'm going to try v1.09.25.23.dia for the fun of it.

I am starting to explore cooking a version of your ROM so that I can build in some of my security software. I spent a while with the 4.1 kitchen and never fully got it to work. I downloaded the new 4.2 kitchen and it is SOOO much easier now that you have included the whole Raphael kitchen folder and settings. Thank you very much. This way is much better.

I can compile the ROM fine and get it to work on my device, but only seem to be able to do so for the normal version of the rom, and not the lite version. Would you mind posting a version of the kitchen that is for the lite version? Maybe there is a way to build the light version with the kitchen that you posted.....If so, would you please enlighten me on how to do that. I noticed that there were several "Pre-configurated Roms" that could be loaded into the Ervius PkgToolsBuildOs kitchen. Specifically:
essential minus.erv
essential minus-no cube.erv
essential plus.erv
light.erv
light plus.erv
mia-personale.erv

I initially assumed that selecting light or light plus would do the job, but it still seems to load the standard version of the ROM onto my phone.

Thanks in advance for the help, and thanks again for another GREAT product.

Another update: Battery held up during the night(8hrs or so), only had about 15-20% loss compared to the night before of the battery almost draining completely. Looks like reflashing the radio has worked for me so far. Will recharge it up and test it to see how it holds up during the day. Yesterday it drained down to 10% when I got home, which wasn't normal for the radio I have. Hopefully today will be different.

I have never successfully cooked a rom. I tried with my Tilt, but had major problems with stability. If I did start cooking, I think I would like to start back with stripping the stock rom much like NATF did.

The rilphone.dll that I am using came from a Canadian ROM. It is a special version that is required for Rogers' Caller ID to work.

I am toying around with the idea of cooking a test ROM without rilphone.dll, and loading one during Initial Customization. If that method works, then anyone would be able to change the DLL with a simple drag-n-drop into the Windows folder.

There's no secret to my lite ROMs. I use the same kitchen, but create a copy of it, and then delete the files that aren't needed.

I have a really hard time believing that my ROM is responsible for the battery drain issues. I say this because the only programs I install on top of the Standard ROM is iNav, and my battery does not drain like several people are reporting.

Last night, I went to bed with my phone at 98%, and woke up 7 hours later to 96%.

Is anyone else still having the message count problem with v4.2?

The 20764 OS that I downgraded to is affected by the SMS Unread bug. The fix has been posted in the thread, but it doesn't seem to work for everyone unless it is cooked in from the start.

Yea that's what I was thinking b/c I never had problems with the battery drain issue with any of your ROMs, so I figure I reflash the radio to see if it'll help and it did. Never happened to me before tho, still had the same programs as before. I'm assuming a reflash of the radio should do the trick.

I have had no issues simply overwriting the included rilphone.dll and soft reseting. Da_G concured that his XIP had the patched nk.exe that removes the signing requirement. So, I would personally suggest leaving it as is, and having more people test replacing the rilphone.dll. My Phone, GPS, Bluetooth, and WiFi all worked fine with a simple replacement.

However, this cab does NOT work on v4.2. D'oh!! Any ideas on what other files/keys might be affecting this? I'm gonna hang tight with 4.1 until I/we/someone can figure out what's missing to get it working on 4.2...

To disable haptic feedback place your phone nicely on a concrete slab, and hit it with a sledgehammer. If this doesnt work, try typing "haptic feedback" in the "search this thread" function. Either way, here is your answer.

It's working pretty well for me overall. ^

Only one minor issue I've ran into so far - sometimes when a softkey has a really large menu like in Contacts, it covers up the menu button and it's been difficult to close at times without selecting an option. Pushing the back arrow works sometimes, but other times it goes straight out to the home screen.

And yes, it's on a new phone. :D

Not a big deal, but thought I'd mention that to see if anyone else has experienced it.

2 MORE issues till this rom = perfect for me

1 When scrolling in the phone app, as soon as you go one screen below the names and numbers of history overlap (as if its too laggy) and it just becomes a complete jarbled mess of numbers and names.

2 Is there a way to disable the wheel in the phone app? Its soooo annoying. i had my friends name selected. I click call (or right next to call) and it moves the wheel and calls someone totaly different. This happens ALLLLL the times its soo god damn annoying.

i call people and am like, hhey!,, oo its the wrong person.

I overslept this morning because of this lol I know someone else had this problem too but did we just have bad flashes or does everybody just not care?

Yes I do. Got burned by a couple of times. It was a problem with 4.0 as well and in 4.2 it is still a problem.

I see a huge improvement in battery life with 4.2 All the other problems I had 4.0 are gone.
Great job NATF!

This happens ALLLLL the times its soo god damn annoying.

i call people and am like, hhey!,, oo its the wrong person.

that wheel is just so frustrating when trying to make a call

I've ran into issue 2 as well.

Ya, same here. this has happened to me several times. very sensitive when you try to push the talk key. i just started using the wheel button instead of the talk button. it's a workaround that works but sometime you have to select the wheel button twice depending on what screen you are in to call.

don't you hate when you really didn't want to return that persons call at that time and then hear there voice come on? lol

this started, i believe, when it was added to a version by request i think in the end of the v2 series or v3.1

I think I have the solution. I got fed up with the same problem and made it go away.

Get a program called "Diamond Tweak" and install it.
Run it, then scroll down (close to bottom) section called "Touch-sensitive Wheel"
Under, "Call History" and "Phone" nodes, select "Disabled"
Take a reboot and see if you can scroll now using the wheel, mine stopped.
Thanks!

<snip>
<snip>

Well, whatever the cause, I reflashed my radio and the battery drain issue has vanished...just like the others who reported the same issue/solution. Battery usage is now comparable to v4.1. I know you built the Canadian rilphone into the ROM before to address the Rogers' caller ID issue. I guess my question was, did you change the rilphone file version at all between v4.1 and v4.2 or is it the same file?

<snip>
When scrolling in the phone app, as soon as you go one screen below the names and numbers of history overlap (as if its too laggy) and it just becomes a complete jarbled mess of numbers and names
<snip>

I identified this issue in a previous build as being caused by something with xt9. You could try the Disable xT9 cab NATF posted a few pages back.

---
Ya know, xT9 has been causing a number of issues for quite a while now. Have we isolated the issue as being within the xT9 drivers themselves or other parts of the OS? Wow, now that I think of it, I can't recall the last version where xT9 worked flawlessly!

This brings me to two questions...1) Can the xT9/eT9 dlls be swapped out outside of the cooking process? 2) Can someone zip up the xT9/eT9 dlls from previous builds, most importantly the stock ROM, and send them to me? I'd like to do some comparison between file versions to see if I can dig up anything on this issue. Since this is my single biggest issue with these ROMs, I am highly motivated to find a solution...so if anyone else has any ideas, I'm all ears.

Did you by chance install the lite rom? Not sure if NATF took it out on the lite version. That could be the problem. If nothing else you could try downloading the install msi file from MS. Not sure if it will ask to purchase though. Here is the website it is at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/microsoft/default.mspx

Would it be possible for you to provide some specifics on what files you do remove?? That would make it much easier to ensure that I am not deleting anything that I shouldn't be....and that I have removed as much as you

I've had trouble figuring this out too...I'd like to cook RemoteTracker into a Lite ROM but had no idea what needed to be deleted to go from Standard -> Lite.

(On a side note, /Tools does not contain a Create_ROM_For_Raphael.bat. I found a reference to someone using Create_ROM_For_Kaiser.bat and having it work for the Raphael...but am apprehensive to try running something not made specifically for my phone. Any pointers? :)

Thanx!

Your reference of "TT3D" is meant to refer to TouchFlo3D.

If you don't like TF3D, go to the Today settings, and uncheck it. It will unload, and you will have the desired effect of a little bit better performance.

i mean if it isnt cooked into the rom itself then the performance might be better? especially if people are looking for performance over looks. i was checking out other roms, specifically ROMeOS and noticed that he has it that way, but it just doesnt "feel right" because im so accustomed to NATF thats why i asked if it was possible for NATF to do the same.

I would only imagine that it would free up a little ROM, but it wouldn't free up any RAM... so I can't see it helping. But, I'll be honest enough to admit I don't know a whole lot about the benefits you might receive by not cooking it in. I'm no chef. :-)

this has come up before and NATF said that not cokking it into the ROM would give minimal if any performance bonus over just unchecking TF3D in settings. so i wouldn't hold your breath on him creating a version without it.

While I don't cook full ROMs (yet ;)), I do a good job of ripping things apart and putting them back together again...and I own a hex editor. :D What would you like me to do?

Also, when I plugged into my cradle charger last night a message came up asking if I wanted to Active Sync or use as a disk drive.

I also have this issue. But I usually just ignore it.

Strangely enough, after having 4.2 (fixed) for a few days now without this happening, it happened to me last night. Happened right as I was going to plug it in into the charger that came with the device. Closed Activesync in the quick menu, and it worked out just fine. This morning though I am unable to duplicate the issue.

Not sure what brought this on, but do either of you have Diamond Tweaks installed? That is the only program that was new yesterday, although it is possible that it was something else as I did mess with some of the program shortcuts and a couple of camera items in the registry.

Ok. Been using 4.2 FIXED for a few days now and I think that this is a sweet ROM. I came straight from 2.3 which I loved very much. It was rock solid. I'm running the following programs:

Flexmail
Pocket Informant
GoogleMaps
Beyond Pod

Haven't had any issues with anything. The only hiccup that I had initially was with Fuzeberry v7. It seemed to make my device kag a bit. So I uninstalled it and did a hard reset. I'm going to put it back on today later to see it was just me. As far as all the posters that have had battery issues, I haven't had any myself. I'm running the Cingular Downgrade Radio 101 right now and it's actually working pretty well for me.

Oh yeah...the GPS kick ass with this ROM. I usually get a lock within about a minute or less.

Thanks again for a sweet ROM, NATF!

Soft reset the phone and try again. The file will still be there and it will download now. I used to get this problem sometimes after I had not turned the phone off for a day or two...

If the MMS won't automatically download, just go into the settings and manually download it.

Everyone seems to have a "black box of doom" problem so I'm not sure if this applys to it, or what you're asking for.

I use a combination of these two CABS(I claim no rights to these cabs and they were coded and owned by their respected Devs.) and I have no problems.

Using v4.2 Fixed, all you have to do in install the NATF xt9 Disable CAB I posted in this thread, and then bring up the Full QWERTY keyboard, and slide T9 to ABC. Oh, and don't forget to soft reset.

Ok please go easy on me, I have been trying to look for an answer and can't come up with anything

I followed all the instruction here on how to set up a new ROM, installed NATF and everything was working fine
I just did a reset on the phone, but keep getting the following message

Your OS ROM isn't customized for your hardware. Please reflash the proper ROM code or contact the service centre

And it won't connect with Vista Mobile Manager anymore
I went into tri colour boot mode and tried to reflash the rom as per the instructions here, but after it hits 100% on the load status bar I just get the same message

Any tips would be greatly appreciated, I think I'm screwed!

I would suggest downloading the stock ROM for your device, renaming the NBH to RAPHIMG, copying it to your SD card, and flashing from the bootloader directly.

Afterwards, try flashing another ROM again. This is the first time I seen this reported.

Hi,

First of all thanks for a great rom - a wast improvement over the stock rom (incredible that the manufactures doesn't provide adequite updates)...

Anyway: I just upgraded to the 4.1 ROM (a few days before the 4.2 release), and have little time to upgrade now again. I have a problem with my live mesh - installations problems and in addition, when i can install, the mesh cannot run - it crashes just after launch.

I can see that this issue is fixed in the 4.2 ROM - but can this fix be provided as a CAB or some registry modifications? (please please :))

Hi guys!

I am still using 4.1, and I am quite satisfied. Big time!!

My only problems are, as many people have seen:
1 - The occasional rebooting while using GPS/Google maps and Opera's favorites.
2 - Rebooting while playing MP3s using Windows Media Player
3 - Very slow performance scrolling through albums with TF3D's music player.

Aside from those issues, 4.1 rocks my world!

...Great battery life; Caller ID is perfect; Alarms keep ringing; Bluetooth is bang on. Excellent signal strength. Got rid of the black bar. Slight GPS lag, but it does work nicely with iGuidance and Google Maps while driving. Activesync works everytime...

....Now, correct me if I am wrong, but 4.2 DOES fix all those rebooting bugs, right? Thrilling to me!

However, after reading the latest posts, I see there are a whole bunch of issues and bugs with 4.2 that were not present in 4.1, including more of that black bar; Bluetooth issues (fixed, I believe); GPS not found, crazy battery drain; caller ID not working with Rogers; alarms not repeating; and a few other reported bugs.

So, here is my question for NATF:

Is it somehow possible to correct those V4.1 rebooting nightmares, without making all the 4.2 issues creep up?

I'm not a chef, nor a cook! I'm the furthest thing from an expert in any of these domains, so I don't know the proper protocol on how to fix bugs....

...but I am just wondering what the next step is... when to expect either a 4.2 FIXED (x2), or a 4.3 or a 4.2c.......?

Again, I think these ROMs are the best out there. They seem soooo close to perfection.

Oh my, if 4.1 just got rid of the rebooting issues, I'd be in heaven!!

I've been checking these boards daily for 4.2. Now that it's here, though. It looks like I have to stick with 4.1

NATF, if I could know your possible next step, that would be so helpful to me.

...Everything from "Hang on to 4.1 for a month, dude" to "I'll get these 4.2 bugs out of the way this week!" would be cool. I'm certainly not trying to rush you...

...I'm just lookin' for a plan, Stan!

Thanks for all your effort. These ROMs truly are excellent. Any insight on your next moves would be much appreciated!

Thanks!!

:) @NATF

This ROM is working for me without a hitch, my FuzeBerry v7.5CFC runs as smooth as can be. I always flash from the SD card and have not had any of the problems others are describing throughout this thread.

Once again, I thank you for all your hard work.....

I too, do not mean ANY disrespect to the wonderful cooking job, But I too am not using the newest version (4.2) and have choosen v 4.0 to work best for me. However, I wonder if there is a fix that can be applied to v 4.0 to fix Rebooting while playing MP3s using Windows Media Player.

Thanks again to everyones help and input. It is greatly appreciated

No. If you read the posts from NATF, you will see that the fix was to make some OS changes.

The data connection is use when sending or receiving data. Push mail, email, web browsing is all data.

So my default in 4.2 is to have the data connection turned off.. How can I have it ON as a default. (Or does it automatically come on when I need it?)

And why is my active sync not get my email automatically.. It use to work.. Now it doesn't. (I have to manually hit the sync button in the settings tab to see new email, OR hit Send/Receive)

Thanks for the help..What a great forum..

Considering it only takes about 15 minutes to go from 4.1 to 4.2, why don't you just do it?

LOL! Gary, are you kidding? :)

I am a firm believer in doing a 100% clean upgrade. No SPB Backup for me! Full-On Hard Reset, and reinstall all the apps, all e-mail accounts, settings & signatures, Full ActiveSync, customized backgrounds, Advanced Config Tweaks, Owner Info, device name, customized sounds, etc. from the ground up!

If I go from 4.1 to 4.2, I will literally spend two or three days (or more!) tweaking, tweaking, tweaking. Like most of us here, I am a power user. I am also a business owner and attorney, so I need my PPC working, big time! It's my lifeline!

It is part of my "production environment" as I used to say when I worked in I.T... Believe me... if I had a second Touch Pro, you bet I'd play around with 4.1, 4.2, and half a dozen other ROMs, the minute they are released.

But business is not that brisk that I can have one $500 unit to play with just for upgrading and downgrading ROMS.

So, all this to say... I am VERY careful with my ROMs and take upgrades seriously. If 4.2 corrected those reboot bugs and sluggish TF3D MP3 player issues... I'd be all over it like a fat kid on a Smartie!

But if users are complaining about battery drain; alarms; GPS hardware not found; and so forth, then in a million years, I would leave the device as is (reboots and all), and find out what the plan is...

I hope this makes sense...!

I certainly don't like hogging ROM threads with discussions, but I do hope that my logic is shared with other users who use their devices a lot, who also feel that a ROM upgrade is something not to be taken lightly!

...I just love 4.1! If only the reboots stopped and the music player was a bit more responsive, I'd upgrade in a flash (haha.. pun intended!)

Wait.. I see that the Active Sync is set to only check once an hour on the weekends Or depending on how I have my peak times set in the schedule.. FIXED..

Now I someone can confirm that the data comes on automatically and I will be all set.

Yes. Me too. Never used SPB Backup. Never will. I know exactly what I want in the phone.

If I go from 4.1 to 4.2, I will literally spend two or three days (or more!) tweaking, tweaking, tweaking. Like most of us here, I am a power user. I am also a business owner and attorney, so I need my PPC working, big time! It's my lifeline!
Not much different from me. Except that attorney part, though I do have a few that work under me. As for being a power user, I'm a Power power-user. It's not only my lifeline, it's the lifeline of many. I'd had to learn someone died because I couldn't be reached.

It is part of my "production environment" as I used to say when I worked in I.T... Believe me... if I had a second Touch Pro, you bet I'd play around with 4.1, 4.2, and half a dozen other ROMs, the minute they are released.
Yes. I have a spare phones. In fact, I carry at least two active phones at all times. Even to the toilet.

But business is not that brisk that I can have one $500 unit to play with just for upgrading and downgrading ROMS.
Wow, I only pay $250 for the Fuze units. Sorry about that.

So, all this to say... I am VERY careful with my ROMs and take upgrades seriously. If 4.2 corrected those reboot bugs and sluggish TF3D MP3 player issues... I'd be all over it like a fat kid on a Smartie!
As do I.

But if users are complaining about battery drain; alarms; GPS hardware not found; and so forth, then in a million years, I would leave the device as is (reboots and all), and find out what the plan is...
Strange isn't it. I don't have any of those problems. But then again, being in IT for over 35 years, I understand a whole lot more than most people.

I hope this makes sense...!

I certainly don't like hogging ROM threads with discussions, but I do hope that my logic is shared with other users who use their devices a lot, who also feel that a ROM upgrade is something not to be taken lightly!
I understand your reasoning, but not your logic.

...I just love 4.1! If only the reboots stopped and the music player was a bit more responsive, I'd upgrade in a flash (haha.. pun intended!)
Upgrading in a flash (pun intended) is what this is all about. This ROM has full UC, and not enough people use it. Maybe you could use it to make your life easier. It's nice to be able to put in a new ROM and be back up in 15 minutes. If it fails, I have the option to be back on the old ROM, also in 15 minutes, just as if I never flashed the new ROM.

Best regards,

NATF,

I just upgraded from 2.3 to 4.2 and I love it! I have one problem though. The text in PIE are really small and I cant select it to one column or get the text to wrap. Can you tell me what has changed in pocket internet explorer? I need it to wrap the text and increase the font size. I use beyondpod and it is dependent on PIE setting. thanks

I'm in the same boat as every time I change ROMs, I do it the hard way. But, as someone that was a huge fan of 2.3, 4.2 fixed is my new favorite. I have had no battery issues, no gps issues, no music issues, and while I did have a slight issue with the black bar and text thing, a quick cab install fixed it fine. Now the black bar does pop up, but it doesn't stick any crazy words into my texts (or anything else for that matter). I think it is more than worth it as an upgrade.

When I set an alarm, the screen flashes, but no sound is made. Yes, the sound is turned all the way up. When I go to settings, then "Sounds & Notifications", then notifications, then event, I couldn't get alarm in the drop down menu. This is where there should be alarm listed to assign a sound to the alarm. Can you verify this on your 4.2 phone and/or tell me how to fix it?

Yes I do. Got burned by a couple of times. It was a problem with 4.0 as well and in 4.2 it is still a problem.

I see a huge improvement in battery life with 4.2 All the other problems I had 4.0 are gone.
Great job NATF!

Since you can't find the answer, you could do the research and post this information for all the other new users. Install both ROMs, check the difference, then post it back here.

Thanks for helping us by do this.

LOL You crack me up Gary. So v4.2 is working great now. This new disable xT9 cab seems to do the trick. It's nice to have the option to type one-handed again. Everything else seems ok...the SMS unread bug is mildly annoying...but I can actually type full speed again so I'll take the lesser of two evils!

I have been hearing mixed reviews about several Blackstone radios having very good performance. Anyone in here using one? Care to share what you know? Thanks. :)

Go to your inbox (list of emails) and tap Menu on bottom right. Select Tools//Options//In Accounts tab tap on email account name (mine is Comcast)// tap Send/Receive Schedule//Select Automatic Send/Receive time from drop down menu (mine is set to push email every 30 minutes).

Email send/receive uses data. Data should turn on when needed.

4.2 is by far the best ROM to date. I have NO problems with it as it is and I am now able to backup and restore pim.vol and cemail.vol. I'm still looking for some registry entiries but soon I'll be able to install a new ROM and have my phone just as I want it without having to do any changes. UC is great and super fast. To echo the sentiment from above, there is some major ass getting spanked with this ROM. I switched off TF3D, and with NATF 4.2, am absolutely loving this little PPC of mine. NATF hit a home run with this thing. This may be my goodbye post because I can't think of anything else that I'm lacking. When there's no pain, why change?

Can anyone give me any argument as to why I should upgrade to NATF 4.3 or 5.0 or whatever? Being addicted to flashing doesn't count as a valid reason.

Yes. NATF found good reason to make a 4.3. It's not like he's going to make future ROMs worse. They are all better for some reason.

I have this issue, and accidentally hit internet sharing. now I get internet sharing popping up every time I plug in the charger or usb. I'm going to have to go away from this rom if I can't figure this one out. any ideas? I wish I hadn't hit that button. is there a way to turn this off in the registry?

I had 4.1 and whilst it had a few quirks, battery life was good. Easily see 1.5+ days on a charge

With 4.2 (there is two of us here with the same load) battery life seems significantly shorter. We are lucky to see a day. Right now down below 50% after just 4 hours.

Guys, there is no need to reflash your radio. It's pretty simple. When you flash a new rom:

1) Make sure AGPS is disabled
2) Update QuickGPS
3) Run GPS Test to get initial satellite lock (I usually change the baud to 38400) The first time you attempt to get a sat lock, make sure you have a clear view of the southern sky. It may take a few min to 7 mins depending on yer location. Once GPS Test has gotten your first lock, your phone will lock quicky from now on - even after a soft reset.

Just be patient for the first lock. Also you can play with using the Microsoft GPS intermediate driver vs. COM4 in your nav software. I find that with Garmin Mobile XT there is less lag using the COM port directly.

Any idea NATF?

I was having issues with my battery charging slowly when I first flashed v4.2, but after doing a hard reset (to test a few things), my charging time this morning went from 40%-100% in under 1.5 hours.

I had this issue briefly but a soft reset kicked it back into gear, I was getting the RED X in Opera and Errors in IE but email and weather were fine.

Soft reset and I am back in action!

Opera has a nasty habit of not starting a data connection if the phone is connected to a PC.

Dumb question... I always use COM4 in iNav. Is there another way to try getting a fix?

Thank you for the information. I am going to try your suggestions. Where does one turn off AGPS?

AGPS is disabled by default, but can be toggled on/off from Start -> Settings -> AGPS Settings

I found the file when I was looking a ringtones. Thought it weird but didn't give it much thought. So where did it come from and why?

Okay, AGPS is disabled. That's why I couldn't find it On. Thnaks.

I have been looking for the "Enable advanced network functionality" registry entry. Will someone please tell me where it is located?

Really don't know if this is related to 4.2 or not, but after flashing to 4.2, I keep getting random error messages - 'Cannot execute Calnote.exe,' 'Cannot execute Tskschedule.exe' and 'Cannot Execute Replog.exe.' They don't seem to be creating other issues; my Fuze syncs correctly, alarms and notifications seem to work OK. They're just annoying. I didn't see this with the stock Rom or NATF's 4.1, which I had been using. Running the same apps (use UC to install) on both 4.1 and 4.2. I've hard reset a couple times since re-flashing and see the same errors.

I've done a fair amount of research and seen a number of others having similar problem (not specifically on the NATF rom's), but have yet to find a clear explanation of a fix.

Any ideas? Thanks.

After phone is on for awhile the ringer goes silent but shows it is on full volume. If I go to Phone Settings and sample ringer tone I hear nothing. Soft reset fixes problem but it goes silent again by itself. Anyone else found this problem with NATF Fuze Standard v4.2?

I notice this probelm too, but I read somewhere someone reflash the same radio onto their rom and the battery life improve. I did the same thing with mine. When I had flash 4.2 over my blackstone radio 1.09.25.35, I notice a big battey drain. I took the advice and flash the blackstone radio again onto 4.2, so far, battery life seem to improve greatly. Not as good as 4.1, but not as bad as 4.2 before reflashing radio.

I think that the TouchPro ROM will ask you to setup the network but the Fuze Rom does not since it is setup to work with AT&T with its proxy.

If you are using a Fuze on a non-AT&T network you could try installing the remove proxy cab NATF has on post#4

@NATF: I was just wondering if you have had any info on how aGPS is working on this rom. I have always disabled this since I first got the fuze so I'm not too sure what to look for while using it. I will try to get some more tests with it and give feedback.

I think we should start over. I am on the AT&T Stamdard ROM. So, I am not having problems based on that. You didn't state which ROM or which carrier you were on and I missed that part.

NOTE TO EVERYONE:

When you have a problem with a ROM, please, Please, PLEASE, state in great detail, which ROM you are using. It will help in getting you a better answer and it will help NATF in building future ROMs.

edit:

this is also random, but does anyone know if you can get the calendar on the homescreen to display your upcoming events? Like days or week in advance? Like it shows up the day of the event, awesome! no heads up, no preparing. On outlook, I get a reminder everytime of upcoming events. So idc if the event was in 3 weeks, on the home screen I would see "Economics test Feb. 27, 2009" for ex.

Ignoring the previous post - the answer you seek is no. They are VERY similar phones, obviously, but the Fuze or Touch Pro builds are for a phone with a keyboard. There are very likely other differences that will make his ROM useless with a Diamond. Seek out the Diamond ROM thread, which I'm sure you already knew about.

Im pretty sure its not rom related as well. Im actually thinking its a bug/glitch in tf3d when you fully load the programs tab since that is the only time I've seen it happen. I'm sure something else must've happened as well since just filling up the tab doesnt cause it and like I said it doesnt happen right away. Like I said its happened on a couple different roms with and without a theme installed. Not sure if its mobilematts since i have been using his moon over theme since natf's 4.0 and had no issues with it. That's due a build change mentioned a few pages back. It reintroduced the SMS unread bug but it was necessary to fix several other very "fatal" issues. It's always a matter of balancing the greater good. Rest assured, the problem is being looked into for future resolution.

I've only had it with the Moon over Matt Theme. I wound up with 8 rows, however I was not able to actually use any of the slots in row 7 or 8. Uninstalled and installed Fuzeberry v7CFC and the extra "phantom slots" went away.

I test each ROM with 3 different Bluetooth headsets (Jabra, LG, unknown) and MSVC works with all of them. Make sure you are answering calls with the headset button as Windows Mobile will sometimes forget to re-route the audio if answering from the phone itself.

I've had this problem with the stock rom and NATF's roms (4.1 & 4.2). I though I'd read over in the Raphael-Accessories forum that this behavior varies with the bluetooth headset (but I can't seem to find that specific post right now.) I haven't solved this either, but I'm hoping to try a different headset at some point to see if it gets better. Right now, I'm using a Motorola H500 and HT820.

Hello everybody,

Beautiful day today, Just wanted to share a little bit idk if this is related to the rom or not.

All day today my phone would not connect to data. I kept having an error message pop up, informing me that I could not connect to data.

I opened amazegps at one point and man, ever since that app close with an error my phone was DEAD SLOW. turned off back on, screen doesnt recognize anything, dead slow, basicially now its been a dead/unresponsive phone, with the touch screen kinda working.

I dont know what is going on, first the data doesnt work, then amazegps crashed, now the phone is slow and unresponsive, I am trying a hard reset know, but can not even get past the screen alignment.....

Look at: HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\ProgramLauncher

and see how many entries you have.

Thanks for this tip. Had an extra entry in there(0-17 and 100). Looks like trying to install footprints tried to force a slot for it. Didnt even think of it since footprints didnt work and i just uninstalled the same day. That was a couple of days before I noticed extra slot. Deleting extra key removed extra slot. Thanks a lot.

I test each ROM with 3 different Bluetooth headsets (Jabra, LG, unknown) and MSVC works with all of them. Make sure you are answering calls with the headset button as Windows Mobile will sometimes forget to re-route the audio if answering from the phone itself.

I'm having exactly the opposite problem with my Jawbone II: MSVC is ignoring the headset completely for any kind of voice command and listening only through the handset. The headset picks up once the call starts, though.

Is this something I'm doing wrong? Or this just buggy behavior with a Jawbone II? Ideally I'd like to press the headset button, issue a MSVC command, and have everything go through the headset. Is that even possible with a Jawbone?

After phone is on for awhile the ringer goes silent but shows it is on full volume. If I go to Phone Settings and sample ringer tone I hear nothing. Soft reset fixes problem but it goes silent again by itself. Anyone else found this problem with NATF Fuze Standard v4.2?

I had exactly the same problem. I had not done a hard reset after flashing 4.1 -> 4.2, so I did one. Problem seemed to go away and hasn't (yet) returned.

If i set a ring tone for a new text when i get the text I can't turn off the ring tone, the music just keeps playing until the song finishes, even if I open the message, is there a button or a way to stop the music?

As far as I know it will play till the end. I can only suggest that you use a short file.

Start -> Settings -> Connections -> USB to PC. Check the box for prompting.

Actually... I was seeing this problem as well after a while, and nothing I did in the USB to PC options would get the prompting dialog to come back. The only solution I could find was a hard reset. This is with 4.2.

I think it is a MSVC and not the ROM issue. I downgraded VC to v. 1.6.19209 and it seems to solve the problem. BTW I am using Sennheiser VMX100 headset

I had exactly the same problem. I had not done a hard reset after flashing 4.1 -> 4.2, so I did one. Problem seemed to go away and hasn't (yet) returned.

I did Hard Reset when I first flashed v4.2 at Align Screen then let ROM run through normal setup.

Phone still has same problem...Ringer works fine then even though phone shows full volume...no ringer sound. Soft Reset temporarily fixes problem but it happened just again after about 2 days and Soft Reset fixed again. I never know when ringer stops working & I miss calls because it shows full volume but no sound.

Phone sound volume is OK it is just ringer.

I am using NATF 4.2 standard and I am not able to receive any text SMS messages, is there any thing I am missing?

EDIT: even sending new SMS is not working

EDIT: I used to have Medianet and was included with text messaging, and now I have FUZE with PDA unlimited data for $30 and does not include sms/text messaging, It seems like I need to pay extra $5 for SMS messages which I don't have that in my plan, strange they don't have pay as you go kind as I just use 2 or 3 messages/month and not much.

Thanks

Two days ago at&t sent me a new sim card and I activated it and transfered my number to it and replaced my old one. Everything worked fine that evening on my Fuze. However the next day for some reason my opera, internet explorer, pandora, or youtube stopped working. It says network problems or unable to contact server. However Bejive IM connects and works fine and so does the Weather tab on TouchFLO. I tried soft-resets, taking out the sim card, battery, etc. but nothing seems to be fixing this. I am traveling and don't have my laptop with me to sync up my contacts and calendar so I haven't performed a hard reset. Does anyone have any idea

it helps to search the thread first.. but this is an OS issue and there's no CAB file or regedit to fix it. hopefully NATFs next build will get rid of the issue.but for now, open the SMS thread and scroll up through all the messages to get them marked as "read"

I'm having this exact same problem and it looks like the fix is to reflash the radio...however I'm not sure what you guys are talking about when refering to "radio". I see the word thrown around a lot and see threads devoted to specific radio roms, but I haven't really seen any threads explain to a newb what a radio is in the context of a WinMo phone. Can someone explain or point me to a location that has an explination?

No, I haven't installed S2A. It's been working fine and configured for wap.cingular since I flashed it with the Fuze Standard-4.2-Fixed. The only difference is that I upgraded to the latest version of Google Maps with Latitude. I wonder if that did it. I switched it back to wap.cingular and so far so good...

I was having issues with my battery charging slowly when I first flashed v4.2, but after doing a hard reset (to test a few things), my charging time this morning went from 40%-100% in under 1.5 hours.

I was also experiencing this problem and after a hard reset it went away.

I don't understand why though...can anyone eplain what would cause this?

Just as an additional note...I did the hard-reset and it fixed BOTH the slow charing problem and the rapid dis-charge problem.

UPDATE: FIXED

I wound up using the RemoveHiddenProxy and it is working!

I searched through the thread and can't find any mention of this so I will throw it out there.

I was using 4.1 and LOVE it. But I wanted to use PIE instead of Opera for a particular site. When I would start PIE and go to a website I would get the error:

"Cannot connect with current connection settings. To change your connection settings, tap Settings."

But it is limited, as far as I can tell, to PIE. I can use Opera just fine.

So I thought maybe I messed something up at some point and wanted to flash 4.2 anyway so I just did that. Tried PIE again and I get the same error.

Data works everywhere else.

I am using the 4.2 Touch Pro Standard and am on T-Mobile.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Unless I'm completely off my rocker, holding down the back button disables the noise cancellation feature. Is that what happens with your Jawbone?

yes, it disables it when you are in a call. in stand-by, not in a call, it calls on MSVC.

butt of headset:

in-call- short press (vol change)
long hold (disable/enable NC)
idle-short press (nothing i think)
long hold (activate MSVC)

Awsome rom! Thanks so much for all your effort! Truely amazing.
I thought you might like to just add Connection Setup to your add-ons cab list, for people like me who have a fuze but use it on a non-at&t network (Aus has 850 band here, yet our provider doesnt sell the Raph). Im sure you have the cab, but heres a link to it courtsy of aruppenthal
http://www.4shared.com/account/file/75340270/36d6320c/ConnectionSetup_1_0_31002_1.html

Im guessing its best for me to install the Fuze rom, then use the disable proxy cab, and install the connection setup? Or would i be better off installing the Touch Pro one, and using the fuze keyboard hack?

Cheers

New ROM Beta Test

PM's have been sent out looking for people to test v4.3 which is based off the new 5.05 HTC ROM. If you did not receive a PM, but would like to test it out, please PM me for consideration. Update: All slots full for right now. If all goes well, look for a public release tomorrow night. :) :)

Some Brief Notes:

The new ROM is a complete rebuild from the ground up. I used to carry over my highly customized OEM folder between revisions, but since so much of this ROM is newer, I figured I start all over.

The SMS unread issue is fixed
Streaming Video works as expected
A newer Opera build (works with the hidden proxy)
t9 actually works!
The HTC Animation registry keys are in place. To change the image, simply copy a GIF named HTCStartupAnimation.gif to \Windows\

I have also removed most of the sounds, alerts, and rings from the ROM. I have updated Post #4 with a new ZIP file containing all of the sounds removed.

For the moment, the stock graphics drivers are still in the ROM. I have not upgraded them yet.

First look.

Love the new screen "NATF Touch Pro Series." Could you make the red text at the bottom a little bit bigger.

I will update this one post with all my thoughts on 4.3beta.

Edit: Put in a new SanDisk SD Card and everything got better.
Edit: There is something wrong in custom cities added to the weather. After the first update, the icon is not changing. I have Aurora, CO and added Littleton, CO. Aurora changes but Littleton does not.
Edit: I'm still seeing a lot of Green in the theme.

Thanks, NATF, for a great release. I've run into a couple of issues in 4.1 which I verified also existed in 4.0.

Inbox scrolling: With a large number of messages in a mail account inbox, I use a thumb flick gesture to initiate momentum scrolling. I should be able to us a single thumb tap to stop scrolling. Instead, the single thumb tap to stop is interpreted as a side swipe gesture, which causes the inbox view to jump to the next account. In other words, I can't stop scrolling without changing what mail account I'm looking at. Other Touch Pro / Fuze ROMs haven't had this issue. I've tried fiddling with Touch Flo pressure sensitivity settings in Advanced Config, but no changes there seem to have an impact.

I'm using v3.2, with plans to upgrade to the latest ROM soon (as soon as I get time!).
Experiencing an issue when I have a wired headset plugged in via the HTC dongle attachment, incoming calls are immediately hung up on after 1 ring, with no chance to answer - the call rolls immediately to VM.
Has anyone else experienced this, and know if it's still an issue in the latest ROM release?
Thanks!!
