Email-Client deletes mails on server, or moves them to server-trash

.. which is actually not what i want.. i simply want to download the emails and do nothing, that's why i use googlemail.. there is no need to delete the mails.
Is there any setting i couldn't find or another email-client?

don't use imap, use pop3 instead, you should delete your account and then creatit again but don't let WM configure it automatically, do it manually, if not WM will configurate it in IMAP mode again.
