[WM6 / 6.1][Updated] Wifi Fix for missing WPA2 and AES Encryption!

Hey people,

I have found the problem in the most of the freaking roms!
In almost all roms is WIFI working, but almost all time not WPA2 and also nog WPA-PSK with AES Encryption.

now i have found an fix for it.
only working on roms what have wifi working, only some encryptions missing.

so here it is!
have fun at home and at work to join the wireless network with the WPA+AES security

if I had the driver manual moved to the windows folder, wifi can never be turned on again... :(:(

i also see this problem...
after screen shutdown(to save battery) wifi cant turn on again till rebooting the device.

announced WPA2 support is not working properly (both cases - in your WPA2 fix and in today's new Manila2 ROM).

Symptoms: WPA2-PSK AES is setting OK in Commanager, after softreset wpa2 still working, but navigation in IE (with the beginning of the requsted page in the best cases) totally freeze newly flashed and hardreseted device; on the other hand Pigeon works fine. Wpa2-Resume standby.cab makes no weather :-)

have you tested the cab file in my post worked for both me and chevan only thing could be language what language are you ??

make sure you let the cab file install to default don't change i didn't hardcode in cab file

this fix working my prophet connect easily but when i open explorer or opera browser pda is freeze, i wait a few minutes but nothing, than i pushed the reset button, my rom manilla 2d, any suggestion thanks...

I don't see any problems.
i think you should try the m2d rom of varanusvincent, there has been placed the same fix, so try!

never heard about that problem on his rom.

I rejected my sd-card and wifi worked fine. Then i put the card back and after several seconds prophet hung.

In this several seconds i browsed my sd-card with resco explorer and i was able to see names of folders, but no subfolders and no content. So...:o

P.S Without sd-card wifi with wpa2 works fine and stable.

I've comre to the conclusion that the Prophets WiFi is just shit. Some few people claim it works, but I guess hey just switched on, connected and thought it works, but it doesn't and probably never will. Windows Mobile is a big pile of crap that I'm done with. Nokia, I'm back !

Hey lol love your attitude yes you are near hitting the nail on the head with that analysis i my case when i wrote that it works for me it did for what i use wifi for i always sync my mail connected to my PC so i missed that crash problem if you look at all the latest ROM builds they don't include WPA2 ,You can use secondary apps to connect to these networks ie.. WIfi monster,

i used to be a symbian owner and since owning a wm device i would never go back to a such a primitive device LOL

Well Done!! I work for IT services at my university, I have a few people that want this patch (including myself), as the people who have the iPhone have the ability to connect to our Universities WPA2 with PEAP encryption (no smartcard or certificate, uni username and password), and us WM users wana do the same.

Will it work on other devices running WM6+, even uncooked roms? Or are there other patches that work with other devices?
Please let me know by posting back to this forum guys, ur all awesome and I'm greatly indebited to ur cause.

I have many people and students with stock phone WM6, WM6.1 phones, who would be more than happy for me to test while we are at work if you would like me to try it out.

I'm using Varanusvincent's Rom - My Speedy Diamond 2, which i assume has this patch already included.
I can connect fine to my university wireless type as specified in my previous post.
One problem I had was solved by manually entering a proxy config profile, also it sometimes "forgets" that is can see the wireless, and i have to switch off WiFi and back on in comm manager for it to connect. Signal strength and reliability are weak and poor at best, having a router in plain sight is a necessity.

Only IE seems to be able to work thru the proxy, and can browse no problem. Google maps, weather etc can't connect, even when connection is stable. Dont have the ability to auth thru proxy it seems..

I have made the 2nd draft of the booklet for connection to my uni , once it is finalised and published I will upload a pdf of it to this site so anyone can see and try on their own networks.

Would like to kno if there are any software tools to enable proxy workarounds in these programs. Skype is the only one i have seen that has the option of entering a username and password for proxy's, IE works thru Windows Mobile's settings, everything else can't detect them.

They are the same manual install = zip
automated = cab :rolleyes:

This patch causes many issues and it's a real shame that it couldn't be fixed as this would have been a great addition to all our ROMs

Since i use this fix i have a crazy problem. If i start wifi, my phrophet lose the sd card. I finished wifi, take the card out and in and then the card is okay.
The patch works fine on my prophet. But i cant hear music if i like to go to the internet with my mobile. no sd card no music ;-)
Has anyone the same problem or any idea why that it is so?

I use the Prophet_My_Black_Clean_Edition_ROM__GER_Rom on an Prohpet g4 (xda neo)

And yes i has had made a reset, softreset and hardreset. I try many other things with no effect.
I think it is'nt a big problem, the rom is good, stable and very fast on my prophet, what else can i wish.
But if here is anyone with the same problem, perhaps we can fix the problem together, or there is a fix.
taht means is not sooooooooo important but perhaps ........ ;-) ?

How you try it?
With USB and Allsync? This was my way, with no problems.
Perhaps is an other way to copy it on your SD Card and then per Fileexplorer direct on the phone in the windowsdirectory?

Yes you must have your email set up then get it to send an d receive (outlook)
and it will crash outlook this is why it was not used :)

Check that you outlook and IE don't freeze this is the bug

I am a newbie in this forum. the main reason for registering me, was to find a WPA2 Solution for HTC Universal with maxstegie´s windows mobile 6.1.

I tested your dll on HTC universal but it never worked. I cannot choose WPA2/AES because is is not shown.

Does anybody has experience with my constellation? or does anyone know why HTC Universal doesn´t support WPA2/AES encryption?

I've been reading these forums for quite some time now, but this is my first post. (I'm trying to follow the advice of reading&searching before posting) So anyway: Hi!

I used WapVirus' *.cab on my Qteks200 with the WM6.5 rom from bikertibi (build 23053) (I'm not allowed to post links because I'm new here)

At first I couldn't connect to a wpa2 network with this rom, but with the WapVirus *.cab it works perfectly.

I have used outlook to connect with my gmail account and send/receive works OK. I have also used IE for some browsing and this also works OK.

As a note: I don't have a simcard in my s200 right now and neither a SD card. (I read that the SD was causing problems for some people, I will test this later.)

So: Thanks! If I do run into problems I will post them.

UPDATE: I have tested it with a 1gig SD card in use and then, indeed, it does crash every now and then. Thanks anyway :)
