update the wing,,question

i have the t-mobile wing ,,how do i update the phone ,,and just to make sure that i dont erase everything from my phone?

Updating the ROM you will erase ALL data. Some PIM informations (Contacts, task and calendar) are Synced with outlook, but SMS, MMS, other e-mail account aren't.
You can use PIMBACKUP (free application) , here http://www.dotfred.net/ to backup and restore the data (call history, e-mail, SMS, contacts, task, calendar) from storage card.

Other applications and data from applications will be lost. You have to reinstall all

Using a Backup/restore program isn't suggested UPGRADING the rom, because the NEW rom could use othe DLLs and format for the SAME data. The results are unpredictable

and where can i get the latest firmware/rom update from?,,wing or tmobile,
is it worth to do it?,i buyed the phone last year in feb2008,,and i did not do any updates on it...

if i did a rom update, would that erase the pinlock that keeps it locked to tmobile?
