Arg. So he probably was talking about ram usage then? I was so excited and now I am realizing I might not be able to use it.
EDIT: 35 mb of ram usage seems kinda high though. Right now touchflo uses 10mb. Thats 3.5x more ram usage than we are seeing now. I am really hoping it was storage space that he was talking about and not ram.

ohhh okay that makes sense. but 35 mb for an OEM isn't too bad...heck I don't mind unless it hinders performance on the device...but then again, considering that there is a large ram usage for touchflo 3d (as much as 10 percent excess ram) I can only imagine that the new touchflo can take 30 percent of RAM at most (please correct me if I am wrong).

Otherwise this may be perfect to integrate with touchxperience. I honestly can't wait. I tried cooking a few packages into a rom and I got through the crash and to see it not crash is an excellent thing! I am really glad you're continuing this.

Incdientally as far as weather tab goes...how will that look?

xboxmod, will this be in a .cab format as well as the OEM?

Not all of us have the skills to work with the OEM.

EXACTLY. People are talking about how they will be losing memory but this new version of manila is so far more advanced than any other and has so many new features that a somewhat larger cab file with more than 1000 more files is required. It will be worth it though. Like you said, it will replace many other apps that we currently install to get the same functionality effectively using the space you would have used installing 3rd party software.

From the video it seems all that needs to be done is editting the mode9 files to take into account the difference in VGA WVGA. So things will need to be scaled down from 800pixels to 640. Is this correct?

That is correct. The only things left are to resize all of the images and edit the mode9 files so that it is 480X640/640x480 instead of 480x800/800x480.

The only other thing is to make some kind of loader. Right now you have to manually browse to the manila.exe in the Windows folder, open the keyboard, highlight manila.exe and press enter on the keyboard. Once manila loads you can close the keyboard and exit out of Windows but that definitely needs to be taken care of because:

1. It takes forever to open the Windows folder with all of the added files.
2. It's just not logical to have to do this every time :D

It's in the works. :D

hey the hd manilia loader works fine with it ive been playing around with this manila for a couple days now and i gotta say it runs smooth i cant wait till all is resized but its good enuff right now for me since i work all the time and only really use my phone for text but yea just thought id chime in and let you know the hd loader works in u didnt already know

Yep. Good to remember that the TF3D shown in the video is not rescaled.
So the bottom part is missing as it can't be displayed because of the genuine size of the screen in Diamond 2.

So the video proves that the new TF3D can run on the Diamond but it shows also that a lot of work have to be done ...

And just picturing the load of the work to be done I can only say : "Bon courage xboxmod" ! You're the MAN :)

Just installed and seems good. One thing in my active apps drop down on the top right, there's a program called start. when i close it TF3d goes away. the only way to get it back is to soft reset, or turn off TF3D and turn it back on. is this normal. is there a fix. otherwise so far so good. except for the long load time after restart. oh just noticed landscape mode not working correct on TF3d

In your task manager, add 'start' as an exclusive app. It will still be there but you will not see it. It's crucial for that executable to be running so don't close it.

If we were to coordinate then everyone will have to have MSN and a single person who is not so skilled with manila(this way the skilled ones can work) would have to keep track of what gets done and keep a consolidated archive on their PC and forward it all to xboxmod as it's finished.

On a side note, how much ram is the new touchflo using xboxmod? I know its not finished yet, but do you have any estimates at this time?

Amazing port :) gratz, looking forward to the next version from you guys...why doesn't HTC bring out an update for their TouchFlo? But, i think i know the answer for myself. The way the Touchflo files pollute the windows-folder looks like a very crappy programmed application, so it must be hard to maintain any updates for the big variety of mobiles.

Please, don't let this thing "die"...i neeed the new calendar tab, the landscape mode, and so on!
Keep up the work, you're great!

If i can help anything, let me know...i'm not experienced in "hacking" touchflo, but have some experience in .net...

the idea fluttering around to make it a team effort isn't a bad idea...as long as people are knowledgable about the structure and resizing

anywhoo xbox there was a rumor about the m9 files being able to be converted to png and used as png files to reduce the size of the image (at least for the htc calculator)

for touchflo, would the same scenario work to decrease the large size of the OEM?

With the landscape files, and all the new features and add-ons that will be required, I would count on at least 30MB, maybe more. That's just my guess, based on what I've read... A CFC version might be a bit smaller.

If you all read back a few pages you'll see that xboxmod said it takes about 30mb of STORAGE to install. If I had to estimate the RAM usage taking into consideration the new apps and features I would say that it would be about 10-15mb ram usage.

All things considered, the standard manila only requires about 4-5mb of RAM to run

He still has 192 megs of ram, which is plenty enough. You'd probably have to have like 10 things running before it will actually start closing out applications. And I'm sure Manila wouldn't be one of them...

i have the verizon tp as well so i know where he is coming from. at startup with manila running i am already at 62% usage on a custom rom with nothing running so i think he question is more than valid

I am now getting an error when I restart that says. "the file 'start' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of it's components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring file. It worked fine until I think I added the manilla hd loader cab.

first of all, i'm so glad to have xmod's hd tflow on my device (the actual one), but the first, and the only bug i have detected is that on the commanager tab, there won't be a feature to connect, oder deconnect the "internet" network, in the origin commanager on the bottom of the settings there is the slider, but when i go to the tab, there won't be one.
sorry if it's already mentioned, but i was too lazy to read the hole thread.

You're not. xboxmod's Diamond ROM has the HD manila in it. NOT the Touch Pro2 Manila therefore there is no Landscape in his ROM. Tough luck. Once the new Touch Pro2 Manila is finished I'm sure he'll release a ROM with that included.

Im on the stock rom. Using touchflo3d, I can open up opera and sms messages before it starts getting laggy. From a fresh start-up, I have a usage of 71-72%. I close everything when I exit out of it, but sometimes I leave a couple things open to quickly open it. If there's a major increase in ram usage, I may be forced to heavily babysit my ram usage. That is why I am interested in ram usage so far.

I would say at least 50% of my programs/tweaks/games have come from this forum because they are never posted in the Raphael forums. I wish they would make a common forum for the two on stuff like this that can be used on both devices.

It's just that I actually do read some pages back on a topic before I make a post, just to make sure I don't spam or offend people...
I use the "View first unread" link a lot, to keep up...
Sometimes I even click the topic starters name an choose "Find all posts..." to see what's new (from the source)...

When you asked your question, shortly after xboxmod asked not to ask that exact question, I got sarcastic and wanted to make an example out of it...

When i installed the HD TF3D pack i disabled it from today killed it from memory and it wouldnt uninstall fully, so a hard reset was the only way :( may depend on you original rom.

whats even more funny than the stupid bickering is that some people would not make a backup before trying to replace the tf3d or any other major application on their phone. after reading 1000s of pages in numerous threads, it is very funny to me that people havent learned to backup. Oh wait, most people dont read more than one page of any given thread, so it makes sense now. lmao

When uninstalling, a some overwritten files are removed, so orig files are gone.
If you have a backup prog you could try restore.
Otherwise you can install anothr Version manilla cab to replace.
Or backup & do a hard reset if your rom came with it.

If the original file was part of the ROM, when uninstalling the CAB, the ROM will revive the original file. You can't actually delete the original file without screwing up the ROM first.

What I suspect happened is that TF3D was still activated when you attempted to uninstall. When removing a CAB, you have to make sure that any programs using the files within the CAB are disabled or turned off prior to uninstalling, otherwise any files in use will not be removed. Your phone's operating system operates just like your computer, if you open a document on your computer and try to delete it while it's open, the computer will have a hissy fit and refuse. Well your phone will just skip that file(s) and continue trying to remove others. Because of this, some of the files were removed during the uninstall whereas others were not, so it didn't do a proper uninstall.

To resolve this, it is possible to reinstall the CAB again, following the original procedure. This will put all the files from the CAB back on the phone. Then before uninstalling, disable TF3D that way none of the files will be in use. To guarantee this do a soft reset after disabling TF3D and before uninstalling the CAB.

I loaded this theme, and it works good. The only thing that didn't seem to work for me was the slide to answer or ignore when people call you. I have a problem of ignoring or answering people by bumping the button with my hip, so that would work good. Currently I'm using SensorLock to avoid that from happening, but that program is VERY glitchy, so I don't want to use it. And again, everything else works like a charm.

i use a program called gyrator 2 to work around the action screen, it uses the accelerometer to i think i found it on one of these bloggs, but it is limited. still it beats the current action screen.

make sure TF3D is off and delete

My device/Application Data/HTC/databases/forecast_cache.db

-Go to start/settings/today and restart TF3D
-Let TF3D start and do a soft reset.
-At this point your new TF3D HD should work perfect

Anybody having issue with flicking the home screen. The original version of the manila allowed flicking to minimize the clock. Also, do not have the calendar link on the home screen? Is this how it is designed to be?

Also, the clock is not selectable.

Anyone else have an issue where after long periods of the phone being in sleep mode that the TF3D crashes ? this seems to be happening every morning after a night of sleeping and as a result my alarm doesnt seem to be going off.

Seems like u have the dreaded 'midnight' bug! There are no solutions 4 this that I have come across in the forums. The only way to stop it crashing and to get your alarm working seems to be to disable tf3d before bed and your device and alarm will wotk perfectly. It's that or lose your job, house and family..... (or you could take the phone back to the store of course!) Anyone else ?

the thing i am talking about is the quick launch on the today home screen. to the right top corner you have a drop down that lists the programs that are running. in that i see a "start" that is related to the manila.in the earlier version of xboxmod manila we could close tnat and still have manila running. in this version if we close by clicking X manila closes...

For anyone else afflicted by this install G-Alarm, when you launch it, it says you may be at risk of the midnight bug (not exact phrasing) would you like g-alarm to fix it. I said yes, my alarm worked great last night

Does this behave differently on Diamond than Touch Pro?

The reason I say this that I installed Energy Rom on my Touch Pro and the author of this rom gives (greatly deserved) credit to the xboxmod for work on manilla HD. On my touch pro I have world clock and some excellent enhancements to contacts etc.

This led me to install this on my wifes Diamond and I get the new stock tab but contacts and clock are the same as before. On page 4 of this thread Fat Boy has posted a screenshot of the world clock but his comment said he also installed on touch pro.

I have now installed XBMod HD v2.00 rom on the wifes diamond but still no world clock / contact changes. Am I missing something?

I am learning to cook and would like this for my Manilla instead of Alltel TouchPro. Is there a way to OEM this to just cook it into the ROM? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am using eRice's kitchen that I aquired from PCCGeeks.com. I have tried searching this but cannot find the answer.

Yeah, you can use this manilla to cook, you just need the cab file and a little program called Package creator. than you transform it to OEM and cook it! i would upload the package for you, but the link for the cab is broken...

Can anyone upload the Cab file for the 1.8.5 CFC version???

Hey peter. If you download the M9 editor, it will tell you the manila name for each file. All(?) language-specific files have a 2 char prefix eg. EN, DK etc. Hope that helps. reply if you need more details.

Hello,
I love the update on my Sprint TP. I just have 3 issues...
1. The calendar tab shows up but doesn't have any data or let you select a date...
2. I constantly have a program "START" that loads when I soft rest. If I close it touchflo 3d closes.
3. Weatherdatabase seems to be missing whole sections of cities. Texas F's for example.

Any ideas?

I had installed the XBMOD MANILA HD 1.8.5 PORT but the top bar never changed, only Manila (Touchflo 3D).

Hi please how can i uninstall this mod? When i try to uninstall it it says that it cant be removed from the programs completly and then it stays there...what am i supposed to do?

I have never tried to unistall when I used it, but turn off tf3d soft reset and then try to unistall.

Already tried that...doesnt work..

Kid you got to read the hold Page from begin to end. Their are landscapes out here. Thats why we use the top right spot call search. I have done my boyz phones wit this manila. 14 installs to HTC phones. But I will help you if you ask me to later...

If your have problems like that just backup your contacts & master reset your phone. I don't know why people don't do what they have said. MASTER RESET YOUR PHONE. THEN INSTALL NET FRAME 3.5 & THEN INSTALL THIS SETUP. DON'T DO IT WITHOUT MASTER RESETTING YOUR PHONE. EASY IM GHOST

My question is since its not a CAB can I simply extract the files to \Windows then run the fix cab? (Obviously disabling TF3D before overwriting).
