This site facilitates members to post comments, and files, it is the bread and butter of forums like this.

It also gives us the ability to upload screen shots and photo's, which has improved the browsing and posting experiance, greately.

But there is a third demension that would add an immersive multimedia experince to using this site...music.

I would like the ablity to add a soundtrack to my threads, so that when users clicked on my threads, my chosen soundtrack would play on there pc's, of courcse giving them an option to turn it off, if they wish.

Mp3's and WAV files and such like are way too heavy on file size, for this kind of thing, what I suggest is to use midi files.

They are tiny in size and would not affect the speed or performnace of this site to any great extent, but the effect they would have on the overall multimedia experinace would be astonishing.

XDA Developers would take a quantum leap and take a clear lead on all the other forum sites clipping at our heals.

Here is a little midi file I would like to play on my Turbo Speed X1 thread on the X1 forum.

146326

It is only 29kb in size, that will not effect download speed or download volumes significantly, yet it provides over 10 minutes of high quality music to immerse the audeince.

With this this new mutimedia dimension to XDA developers poeple would be browsing for hours, completely and utterley immersed, entertained and engaged with the Forums and there mutimedia multidimensional threads.

Once they clicked on a thread, and were immersed, they never click off and go back to the standard posting sites ever again.

Take the lead ! Multimedia is what we need.

Our devices are multimedia, why isn't this site ?

( PS -Heres some more tiny files, that pack a huge multimedia punch. )

146331,
146332,
146333,

( Ps There seems to be growing Ghostbusters 3 type, phyco reactive substance growing on this site, please do not post negative comments of a personal nature, they degrade this site and the members who post them, stick to the issue )

With the option to turn soundtrack off the problem you mentioned, would not occur.

Would you really want to deny other users who did want to be immersed in a 3 dimensional Xperinace ?

If 2D is all you want, you can have that too :D

1. Commercial

Sponsors of this site would probably welcome any innovation, that brought more poeple into the site contributing to the forums, and made there stay here more enjoyable.:)

2. Personalisation

We all like the ablity to post avatars, and signature graphics, this takes perosnalisation and customisation of threads posts and forums to the next level.

The idea is great, the the bandwith really jumps. Plus it's a dev site so let's not get out of hand.

Let me get this straight....

You think XDA-Devs is corrupt to the core with posting illegal software (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=468797),

But now you want us to support allowing you to post Music files which you have no legal rights to distribute? Or did I miss something, I mean do you own the rights to Eye of the Tiger?

Sounds like a hypocrite to me..

LOL,
I most likely wouldn't stop by here anymore if I would have to listen to all kinds of tunes provided by the thread starters!

I guess a lot of people just miss the point here! It is a FORUM not an ENTERTAINMENT site! And I am sorry but getting a 3D experience with MIDI files? Now, how sick is that? (I am starting to remember all these home-brewed web pages a century ago with that ugly midi background music - lol!)

Mark,
why don't you set up your own little world somewhere, add a forum and your 'innovative idea' about midi-underlayed threads - lets see how many sponsors would love to 'sponsor in' ... !

Hah, no wonder Apple came out with something like an iPhone ... !

We are on a site that people cares more about the content than in the beauty and design.
Yes it can be more nice graphically but at least me I prefer to have it like it is now, simple and low resources consumer than a hungry flashy site.

I'm closing this thread, it's obvious the OP isn't actually interested in actually gathering other users opinions, or else the poll wouldn't be completely an totally biased. I don't really seem much potential for constructive conversation here at this point. As Kyphur stated, this reeks of hypocrisy to me as well.

On a side note, i'm not sure how midi tones could possibly be considered coming out of the stone age with the dinosaurs.

Edit: The thread has been reopened as agreed upon with the OP. Please keep this discussion peaceful and respectful. I will be watching.
