Friends,
This is another WM6.1 ROM (build 21014) AKU 1.6.0 relesed out for testing. The released ROM uses 12MB of pagepool.


MAIN Feature:

This ROM can be dumped and recooked. Unlike many of the cooks, no RGU have been deleted. No DSM has been deleted. And most of all, the ROM has not been crippled against dumping by deleting IMGFS signatures. So feel free to dump and modify upto your taste. And share the knowledge with the community. We can improve more by sharing the knowledge than keeping it secret.

General Notes: (Please Read before updating)

- There is readme.rtf inside the package. Pl read ir carefully.
- Remove SD card before update!
- There is no extended rom... JUST OS AND RADIO!
- You MUST install HARD SPL before going over a custom ROM.

-Downgrade your Radio to 1.58.25.14 or lower. (it is aleady a part of ROM pachage)

Installation:

Install HARD SPL
Put device in bootloader mode.
Run ROMUpdateUtility.exe and good luck.

Reasons for using 1.60 Drivers instead of 3.18:-Reasons:-
I encountered many problems with almost all the new ROMs cooked with 3.13 or 3.18 set of Drivers.
Following were the main problems:-

1. The Prog Memory goes down from 102 MB to meagre 84MB causing shortage.
2. The Manila 2D sliding is sometimes sticky with or with out 3D drivers.
.AND
3. Many of the programs dont run on them.
4. While using any of the programs sometimes the device suddenly used to stops responding for 2-3 seconds.

So I begin to ask myself, after all, what have we gained with new set of drivers???????????
And what is wrong with using a bit older drivers till we get a better and stable ones from HTC

So, here are my effort to:

1. Use 1.60 Set of drivers.
2. Remove 3D drivers (sorry bally3)
3. The XIP is all re-done. And the ROM is re-tuned.
4. Downgraded the Radio to 1.58.25.14.

Result:
1. The Prog Memory increases from 84 MB to mere 101+ MB
2. The Manila 2D sliding is butterly smooth.
AND
3. Most of the programs sould run now.
4. The device not stops responding any more.

!!!!!!!!!!!!At least I am very happy and more satisfied now.!!!!!!!! bye bye to driver set 3.18

The dialer has no viedo call! you will need to install another dialer for that. Search in the forums you will find one.

ROM seems to be good and stable. 1 issue I am having is that my data connection disconnects and I cannot seem to find away to prevent this.

Firstly, thanks a lot - this is the best ROM I have used yet. Your previous version had a bluetooth issue with adding more than 2 devices but that is now fixed so I am a happy man !!

Just two small problems though :

(1) Bluetooth wireless headphones only work immediately after pairing - once you turn them off and then back on again they won't connect. You have to delete pairing and then re-pair. Any ideas ?

(2) In your previous version Hebrew text entry and display worked fine but now I just get small boxes for characters. Is this due to a different system font ? Can I use the same one as your previous ROM ?

Thanks a LOT!! I used your previous ROM and it was amazingly fast. Right now im using UDK R4 which has P3D drivers and my cruise freezes for 2-3 secs sometimes, which is really annoying. So im looking forward to use your rom!!

The reason i moved to R4 when i was using your old rom was because i couldnt use the portuguese keyboard, which i really needed. I installed a cab that i always used to install portuguese language in WWE roms and whenever i pressed the keys no words were displayed. The caret | didnt even move.

Is this fixed in this ROM or is there a way around to use the portuguese characters? (é à á ã õ ç)

No I didn't change the device ...

Well I'm flashing a lot, and I just re-flashed with PDAViet cooked Polaris ROM and unfortunately problem stayed :(. So I guess it's not problem related to your ROM. Must be something wrong here ...but thanks once again, other than that problem (specifically with my device only), the ROM is GREAT. Updated drivers are not necessarily the good one, so I support your decission back to older drivers set.

Have ever thought on testing the Omnia D3D driver? works on Kaiser but I dont know the prospect on Polaris. I noted that you removed 3D driver.

EDIT;
- Just tested with GXMark, but due to unknown reason test was completed but tga graphic didnot report full test. Only the flip test gave the result from 5ms (before) down to 2ms (after).
- Battery seem lasting longer with radio 1.64.08.21

Try to format your phone... Opera does work very good on this ROM...

At work I use a proxy. At home no need.
It appears that sometimes when connecting to Home Wifi, both IE and Opera are trying to connect using proxy...
I remember having this problem with old roms (Aug2008) and no more with lastest version.

You can either goto settings->system->clock

This ROM feel very slick indeed.

The only issue I can find noone else has mentioned.

I connect with my orangeinternet settings. I have run the network setup wizard and this has always worked with past ROMs. I can connect ok using orangewap but that uses a different access point and I'm not sure how that affects web pages and billing. I have an unmetered gprs account using the orangeinternet APN.

I have found that the differences between the orangewap and orangeinternet profiles are mainly the APN and that the wap profile connects through a proxy.

When I add the proxy settings to the orangeinternet profile it works again. But I have never used a proxy for access before this ROM. Has anything changed in that respect?

No matter what I try, I seem to get back to sheckar's ROMs. Curiously, I had some problems with other ROMs and the lates Radio (1.59.xx.xx). This ROM makes my Polaris really really usable. It's verry interesting that there is no lag in manilla. I was wondering, will it work with Kaiser Radios, the ones with 1.64.xx.xx? How are those radios ?

I want to install Opera Mini (which was a pleasant surprise in terms of speed and memory usage) and I don't know from where to find a cab. In Development section there was a opera mini 4.2 cab but the link is dead. I also found some version which install java too. I don't think that I need to install with java. For opera site, there is a jar and a jad file to download. Could thouse 2 files be the install kit ?

Hi there.

I've got a problem with these roms. I'm using iGo8 and every time i receive a call while running iGo it minimizes and my Polaris shows up the accept/ignore call screen. After talking to my mates i go back into iGo and it does not have any gps signal. Even if i try to detect the gps receiver again it does not work. Have to soft reset.

I hoped to have this problem solved in your new rom but it still exists.

Using TomTom sometimes i can see a similar behavior. When i did a call or received one, TomTom is not able to get a signal from the gps receiver. It only gets a very weak signal and is hopping through the map. Then only a soft reset helps ...

This now gets annoying since I use navigation very often.

Do you have a solution?

My radio rom is 1.58.25.14, as you recommended. Oh and mostly I use QuickGPS, but tried already without. No change ...

I have read all the good comments here and I want to joine all the poeple group that are "addicted" to that ROM :-)
in addtion - I didn't find any comment for the problem I have - So I assume that only me have a strange problem with SOME (not all), text windows that I can not read there content nor see what I'm writing - Hard reset did't solve the problem.
I see this porblem from time to time with different ROMs and other not as well as with different Application.
if someone had the same problem and can share the solution - I'll be greatful :-)

For everybody who wants to have his GPRS Connection constantly on,
you should check the following values:

HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings
CacheTime : This is currently set to 600seconds. if by then the GPRS is not used, it should disconnect

SuspendResume : The value should be "~GPRS!" (without quotes). Current value is "GPRS_bye_if_device_off".
After a SoftReset, the device should not disconnect GPRS when suspending device.

Very good, fast and stable ROM.

I like also the combination of software included...

In order to keep GPRS connection always online, I used PocketToolman. It can keep connections online together with several other options; but the solution from PseudoReal, seems to be "cleaner"; I will try it.

Here shredman exactly describes the problem I've got when using TomTom, not always, but once or twice per week.

Trying iGo8 then it gets 4-5 satelites, but with a very weak signal - no fix.

He uses bepe rom, maybe this is related to the radio rom cause we use the same... but newer roms are not usable with 1.60 OS

Opera is very laggy and also the text is not readable as it does not display SPACES properly.
May be I will try another version.

Well I'm flashing a lot, and I just re-flashed with PDAViet cooked Polaris ROM and unfortunately problem stayed :(. So I guess it's not problem related to your ROM. Must be something wrong here ...but thanks once again, other than that problem (specifically with my device only), the ROM is GREAT. Updated drivers are not necessarily the good one, so I support your decission back to older drivers set.

Have ever thought on testing the Omnia D3D driver? works on Kaiser but I dont know the prospect on Polaris. I noted that you removed 3D driver.

EDIT;
- Just tested with GXMark, but due to unknown reason test was completed but tga graphic didnot report full test. Only the flip test gave the result from 5ms (before) down to 2ms (after).
- Battery seem lasting longer with radio 1.64.08.21

Try going to settings >> phone >> band and set the first menu to GSM or whatever you network is but do not leave it on AUTO.

I did this:

"1. Start ActiveSync on your device.
2. Tap "Menu", then "Add Server Source"
3. Configure a server source with a fake IP address, id and password - you can enter anything you like, it doesn't matter
4. After that you will notice that "Menu -> Schedule..." item is no longer greyed out.
5. Change your schedule to manual under both fields.
6. You can now delete your fake server - your changes to the schedule will remain in effect. ActiveSync will no longer popup."

I don't have any problems so far. I only have to close it manually after connection to PC.

Seems rom is working fine after some tunning :).
But what still i cannot solve is how to get opera bookmarks into Internet Tab in Manila. With my last rom all bookmarks were displayed there correctly, now there is just YouTube.
Anyone knows how to solve this?
Another trouble is datetime format on manila home page.
I changed regional settings so all applications are displaying date in correct format, just manila still keeping it in other format and i'm not able to change it anywhere. Any ideas ?

- GPRS don`t work neither after connection wizzard nor after hand setup
- after call connected speaker switched on - why?
- sms-chat is ...:mad:..... very bad
- sometimes keyboards freezing and need soft reset to fix
- sometimes on press icon keyboard it don`t appear - softreset
- just freeze one per day definetly

It`s not my first rom i`ve been flashed, and radio version right and I very glad to see colour icons and battery persentage...

I hope to find fixes for finded bugs...

Hi you should make a Hard reset, I have none of that problems, and I use GPRS a lot, personally I disable SMS Chat ( dont like it ) but works ok, no problem with FullQWERTY keybord, no freezeng here!

I don't have those problems either. The only bug I seem to have had is the volume-slider graphic is a little corrupt, and I have on many occasions had to raise the volume level when in a call, it appears to always be at a low setting and need sliding up.

In addition yesterday, I had my first restart of the system
I had Opera Mobile, internet Explorer Mobile open and a SMS came in. the system did not react for a while. then when going into opera mobile, I could not enter a new address, because it was re-loading google all the time.

So I did a softreset, but the SMS that came in and was unread got lost :(

And last not but least the alarm didnt wake me up this morning.

No bro! there is definitely some third party S/W loaded by you playing mischief in your set. There is no such issues with the ROM....

I have some minor issues:

-The new weather icons in the Manila weather tab are displaced to the right side (not centered). Any idea, how I could change this?

-Afer a Softreset, the device is extremely slow for a minute. After this time, it is working really smooth.

-If a call comes in, I first get a bubble at the bottom of the screen, that is empty, before the answer/ignore screen appears.

-TomTom 7 is loosing the GPS signal, when I get a call while navigating.

-The reception of the older radio version isn´t as good for me as the newer 1.59.... versions.

Two design questions:

-Is it possible to change the green colour for the highlighted field in the start menu and the task manager. I have changed the highlighted colour in windows, but Manila 2D is not affected by this.

-I personally don´t like the coloured icons in the top bar. Is it possible to change them to standard white?

when a call comes in after pressing the green button, the speaker turns on for a short time,making all the people in the area to jump up and look at you in a stupid manner! :D is there a way to fix it?
I like to type sms manually and without any word suggestion and T9.but after turning T9 off in all keyboard layouts, it still becomes on and starts keeping my words in memory and pasting them when I press space button.It really annoys me.in original ROM it got solved by turning of T9 in qwerty keyboard. but it still turns on when the keybord is restarted.
and another question! Is there a way to avoid hearing the tap sound when I press start button and some ather things?

I supose you made the "fake server" trick to make activesync stopped, when you do that a "welcome" email apears in the "Outlook Email" account, it happend to me, to solve this when you are in the inbox of any of your email accounts just open the menu in the upper left side (INBOX) and you will see the "Outlook Email" select it and then erase this email. Thats it.

Sounds like a typical s2u2 issue to me. You should try to uninstall/don't start
s2u2 and see if the problem remains...

After applying the VJBrisk 'fix' to make Agenda One the default calendar from the M2D home page I find that the Left Softkey ('New') only brings up the phone.

Does anybody know where the link to this is stored and how I can change it back to the default New operation?

Yes I followed that trick, and then disabled outlook sync. That's why the account dissapeared. I just had to enable it again, delete the email as you said, and disable it again...

I guess that the answer is yes since this ROM works with radio versions 1.58.XX and all murata's radios (at least those that I know: 1.58.25.14 and 1.58.21.23) are from this series. I personally use 1.58.25.14 with the previous c_shekhar's ROM and it works perfectly

2- then i used "udK_3G_Dialpad" the vedio call work well but the toolbar changed the Battery Power% disaper and return normal but without any indication for the remaning Battery Left.

Now I'm using Inesoft Addressbook which has better CallerID.
However when the call coming, Inesoft can took over the CallerID but the default one also running behind.

As I said before, I think it will be a nice addition to have Opera Mini installed. I installed it on 1.60.21014aCS and works great... The only thing I don't know what to do is a shortcut of it. The 1.64.08.21 Radio works like a charm, I get better signal compaired with the one included in the ROM. I will test to see the battery drain. Wifi also works without a problem. A... almost forgot, as an sugestion for a program to be include is: AKToggleWifi. It helps to enable/disable wifi from manilla with one click. I think some of us who use wifi will be verry glad to see it installed. Just my 2 cents. I am verry happy to see that a new ROM is on works. I've seen the dump of Iolite ROM. Did you tested it ? I keep hopeing to see some 2d driver improvement... Thank you again for your great ROMs, for your time spend to make us happy, for making me not to hate my Polaris that much :) .

I think if anyone needs any other software he is able to install it, as for example u installed OperaMini. Cause at least me i don't want to have neither opera mini, neither AKToggleWifi and i'm using wifi daily. Software is really personal thing, and i think that this rom is pretty good as it is.
Also when something is cooked in u cannot uninstall it, but when it's not there u can install it.

And this ROM can be recooked, so u can add any software u want to and make ur own rom and then flash it.

Yes indeed, I agree with you. But if this would be wright, we woldn't have Advanced Config, SyncroTime, PPCBackup etc....
I proposed those two apps because:
- opera mini isn't that easy to install... I managed to install it but I couldn't create a shortcut for it to use in manilla. It's small and fast compaired with Opera Mobile. There are people, like I was, who don't know about Opera Mini. After I saw it in epimazzo Rom I started using it.
- AKToggleWifi is extremlly small, I don't see any reason why not have it included. If someone doesn't like it, it won't use it.

But as I said, those are just recomandations. c_shekhar will know better what to include in the ROM.

Hi Sekhar,

I "felt" a decrease in the battery performance compared to previous ROMs (Old Bepe's, Gullum and 3LITE3) but all of them were with newer Radio 1.59.xx
After Sascha's post, I installed Radio 1.64.08.21. I got some problems to install it, but after the 3rd attempt I finally succeed.

It seems to work fine, but I cant tell if there is an improvement or not.
For me, as long as QuickGPS has worked, GPS performance is very good.

I got a "no service" but still "connected" with Mexico's 3G network. When I selected GSM as network time, the problem was solved. So I can not tell if it was because of Radio ROM or because of our Mobile Network operator.

My 3 suggestions for a possible future ROM are:
- I like a black skin for SPBcalc. I believe it matches better the overall apperance of my TC

I notice that with 1.64 there is sudden loss of signal sitting at the same location and after say abt 20-40 secs it automatically restores to normal. This frequently continues every where...
Thats why I go back to 1.58 which gives me rock persistent signal strength..

hello everyone, I just wanted to take moment and thank c_shekhar for this great rom. I can say I've tried most of the roms on the forum and this is the best rom ever. it's clean, fast and yet loaded with useful apps. the tweak for constant gprs was the only thing i did!. gps fix in ready incredibly in 10 seconds!(using 1.58.25.14 preloaded prior to loading this rom).

Hey shekhar, I've been w8ing for a new rom from udk but unfortunately is a disappointment and from all the available roms I decided to switch to yours as it seems 2b the best. (Congrats for your gr8 work!) I reflash rarely, 1x every 2-3months bc I'm using my polaris for work and don't want any surprises. :)

I have changed the rom a few days ago, but if I remember right, you have to delete the "sound file" (don´t remember the name) in Windows/startup. But I´m not really sure. Have a look there.

I have a question, in the Comm Manager other roms have the possibility to turn 3G on and off. I like that a lot cause it wastes a lot of battery. If i need to do some surfing, i just turn it on.
In your ROM, i need to go to Phone Settings in the Band tab and select GSM from the network type dropdown.

Can you bring 3G back there?
Is anyone using Microsoft Direct Push?
Why is Data Connection there? Usually the phone connects automatically if an application requires it

I didn't know it was there, cause Comm Manager is not in the Tree. You need to go to Menu - More Settings - Comm Manager.

However, after enable-ing 3G, it doesn't show an icon for it. All other 5 switches have icons. Do I need to set it up somewhere? It's not a big problem anyway, it's great that it works.

Snoop, had same problem. also looking for way to get dutch T9. But you need to follow the right steps with Ezinput. Worked for me when following the steps.

Just to say you thank you, i like this rom, i've tested many rom but this one is really nice.

Sur, not perfect, but i feel some performance when use it, except for looking sms (maybe because of my 1000sms) and writing sms. The boot is really long, but the rom is very stable.

This has been a stable brilliant rom and i am loving it!. being a newbie, i dont want to mess the settings up without knowing what i am doing

1) I would like to be able to interchange the clock to the flipping numbers one available on the touch diamond, how do i go about doing that.
2) i would also like to change the scheme to look like the black one on diamond. I have seen a few themes thread oon the forum but not sure which way to go for easy interchanging on the themes.
3) Is there a simple app to change ringing profiles? to silent, vibrate, loud .....

The ROM is great but I have a strange problem that I'm not sure it's a bug in the ROM or not but it is really annoying.
The phone's alarms sometimes doesn't ring till I activate the screen (press the power button), also most of the other notifications from other applications do not show up till I do the same above action.

Please help.
