View Full Version : Tomtom & i780 -Do you need portsplitter (or similar) to make GPS work?

From what I understand there are some combinations of PDA rom and Tomtom that allow the GPS to work without any additional software (e.g. portsplitter)?
If this is you case, can you please report here which is your i780 PDA rom version and your tomtom version?

i780 with PXIHH5 rom
tomtom 7.45 + map Italy 7.20
port 3 + port 9 + 4800 baud
perfectly working without portsplitter or other additional software

I used to use PortSplitter or GPSProxy to get GPS working on the i780 with TomTom, but those were too much hassle. Sometimes after a soft-reset I'm able to launch TomTom by itself and it works, but most times it does not.
Now I use a tool called AstroGPSLauncher (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=364199) and it works every time.
