I'm doing some searches with no luck. Best I've found (for another device) is that the speed of Microdrive may be faster then a Storage Card - but for battery life the storage card is better.

Anyway, I now have in my greedy hands two (!) 16 gig micro sd (with mini sleeve) that works in the Advantage (don't ask how). I still have my old 4 gig card.

My thought was when I switched out my storage card, all the installed programs would temporarily not work.

One solution would be to duplicate the Program Files folder on all cards - but I assume that will mess up some programs that write to the card.

..the other solution would be to install all programs to the Microdrive (and keep a backup of the drive on 1 of the storage cards). This way I can just put pure data (movies, music, pix, etc) on the Storage Card and swap them without problems.

What are the ill effects of doing this?

Phil

Oh - in theory, if I move my program files from my storage card to my microdrive and update all my shortcuts ... would that work? I'm thinking it's a good time to clean out the Microdrive & hard reset and re-install everything except for the week it will take to get everything happy again.

In typical fashion, I was re-running my searches from last night & found a couple of threads on this subject. Anything new?

(I blame lack of sleep from newborns)

This is how I setup my X7510. So far it is working flawlessly. :)

Just use SK Tools. It has an option to move not just the files or folders but also fix all the registry related to the files or folders being moved. This would save you time and effort specially if your device is running perfectly now.
