Thanks to the incompetence of our legislators I just deleted an additional $6K (US) from my LONG speeding ticket list, on top of the first $ 7K I had deleted last year. You see some senator try to change the law text, but made a typo, and the text ended up stating that "any ticket unpaid older than three years can be deleted..." Now I only have $1.9 K to go... only a couple of months more... woo hoo!

LOL

Thank God I live in a small town in a third world country!!
We have no cameras on streets for speeding! so you just have to be aware of the patrol, like in the old times!

LOL, funny thread.
Think of it this way: Would you rather be late for something and not cost a dime more, or be on time with a hefty bill :D Thats my train of thought

I've only been pulled over once in my 9 years of driving.

I was on SR-77, Woodland Twp, New Jersey. A state trooper clocked me at 77 in a 50. Since I had a spotless driving record, he saved me a $300+ ticket and only wrote me up for "Risk of Accident" @ $54.

I've only gotten one ticket, for going 53 in a 40. I had to go to court, and then I took an online driving course. It took about 6 or 7 hours... not a very fun time.

I've been pulled over:

For my passenger using the PS2 while I was driving (seemed like a funny thing to add to a Daewoo Nubira!)
Once on suspicion of driving a stolen car, I looked too young to own a Daewoo Nubira - I was 25 - that was a sign the car had to go.
Twice for overtaking a police car slower than they were expecting on my RD350
Once for accelerating too quickly when I was 18 - in my Mum's metro!

But I've never been pulled over for speeding, which is astonishing since I don't think I've ever owned a bike that knew how to obey speed limits.

It's not me officer, the Yammy Thunderace was driving and I was just holding on until he slowed down so I could escape....

I read something about parking tickets in New Jersey, is that what you're talking about, or something else? I live in WA/ID and could really benefit if that was the case...

Thanks!

Well, if you guys with speed tickets are wondering who to blame for the speed cams, once again, it was the Dutch (aren't we just a lively bunch of bringing terror to the world?). It was orignally invented to measure lap speeds, though. But leave such a toy with the government, and you see what happens :)

Anyways, I've had a lot of speed tickets in my time (I personally believe that the maximum speed is determined by road conditions, weather conditions, traffic conditions, car, and how well you can see the situation - which are the same conditions which apply when you drive slower, but are illegal to use when you drive faster) but I've started noticing that speed traps are actually disappearing here. I hardly ever get tickets anymore (last one was a year ago I think) while I hardly ever obey the speed limit. Good thing. For once they are actually doing what they promised - only take you down for disobeying the speed limit when it actually creates a dangerous situation!

Still though, I thought it was worth noting (and I'm wondering how that is in other countries) that over here if you exceed the speed limit with 50kph (30mph) or twice the limit (so if 30 is allowed, 60) you lose your drivers license here.

And damn, Crazy, I also want a Lambo! :)

Thanks!

I was referring to speeding tickets and a mistake made by the local legislature here in Puerto Rico, so it won't apply to New Jersey, unless the legislature there is as lazy, dum and overpaid as it is here...:p

The UK govt. is considering forcing car manufacturers to build in GPS transmitters to all new cars. This would effectively mean there would be no need for cameras and your own car would broadcast it's speed and location no matter what road you are on and fines would be automatically sent. There is also talk about using it to combat car theft and if someone disables it then the engine computer would automatically be disabled and the car un-drivable.

So, there's a little task for developers. Crack the signal coding so you can block the signal and broadcast a sensible 30mph in place of the 120mph you are actually travelling at. Afterall, no system is full-proof:)

MikeWhat the hell is wrong with your country!??

I agree, what is wrong with your country. Why don't you and a bunch of your friends get in a rickety old boat float across the world, find a somewhat deserted land, kill or "relocate" all the natives and begin imbreading.

And for fuin, throw some tea into the ocean.

..
...
..

Oh wait... That probably won't turn out to well.
