May 29, 2009

I have rebuilt and updated 2.3.21109 with new tools and updates. it is now a mega ram rom...with over 129 MB Storage memory free. It is faster and lighter than ever. New graphix boost etc.

We are working on the 3.0 Beta and release but I want to give you something new and stable to run while you are waiting. Have fun.

Parley

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I am giving you all a present by uploading the complete kitchen that builds Phoenix2.3.21109.2g...There are extra packages, tools for creating ext folders etc. Please make sure you read post 965 as it contains even more details that you need.

As always--thanks go to bepe and ervius, dark simpson and more for great tools, Anryl for great ports and mbv for getting me started on this in the first place.

Now to the details:

PhoenixBepeKitchen
http://www.sendspace.com/file/f3c83l
This is 155 MB so it is purely dedicated to Kaiser and only current packages.

This is the Phoenix 2.3.21109 Bepe Kitchen. You can make a rom without manila by renaming the EXT folder EXT.Manila and renaming the other EXT-no Manila folder EXT...then run the batch file. That will build you a rom. You can remove packages from the eXT folder and put them in parking to lighten the rom. I have included the tools you need to make ext packages in the tools\lynn tools folder. PM me for info and check

A note from Travito about PDC, the Phoenix Development Center, our base station for making Phoenix an "Open Source"-esque project, if you will:
----------------
Attention everyone!

As PHOENIX development continues, we're going to establish a command and collaboration center. We're opening this ROM up for EVERYONE'S input to make the BEST ROM YOU CAN EVER IMAGINE FOR THE HTC KAISER!

Join the Phoenix Development Center today! (http://phxdev.wkycomputing.com/)

bug reports will still be heard here, but they'll be SO MUCH EASIER to track if you also submit them in PDC. Each bug gets its OWN thread. please check to make sure your bug hasn't already been reported before submitting. We're also gathering Ideas for Phoenix III when 6.5 becomes useable.

PDC will help us better notify you, the user of ROM releases (I believe, It's something i'm going to look into more to come up with a good system) and it provides a better means of alerting our Beta Test team of builds. The advanced bug tracking capabilities, polls, etc will enable us to do what we've already strived to do by helping us see what the users and community want in the ROM. There's going to be a big resource bin chock full of CAB files and links to XDA threads and elsewhere to help you truly make the BEST of your phone.

PDC has a LIVE, open chat room as well, so we can strive to develop in real time and hear live input as we go along.

Join the Phoenix Development Center today! (http://phxdev.wkycomputing.com/)
click the link up there! ^^^ JOIN UP! It only takes a minute! (please use your XDA name to help us identify you)

Note to mods/whomever else that may be curious: this is not to detract or take away from XDA in any way shape or form. There will still be Phoenix Threads, PDC is aimed at streamlining the development backend of the ROM and for letting interested users participate in the development and testing and troubleshooting. We hope that this will be seen as fostering more activity in a Kaiser ROM section that is slowly becoming endangered as more new devices such as the Blackstone, Fuze, and etc. We hope that people will be inspired by this collaboration and learn how to create their own ROMs in the process using the many tools provided by the Kaiser community at XDA, and XDA is an invaluble resource to us all.

------------------------

NOW for the ROM Stuff...................................

ParleyP, Travito (with help and input from Mbarvian, Anryl and others) proudly present:

HardSPL 3.29 Recommended for non-iolite roms...Iolite please use 3.56hard2 by cmonex

Welcome to the future of Kaiser ROMs.

Credits / Props

Credit goes to MBvarian for SOLACE V2's RC's and porting the Omnia XIP and SYS. This got ParleyP interesting in cooking. ParleyP began his journey into cooking because of Solace and started publicly with Phoenix 1 and Omnia port. See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=463284 for prior versions and information.

Credit goes of course to Travito for his countless hours testing, taking feedback reports, graphics work and troubleshooting.
Thanks to all the beta testers who endured almost nightly builds while we debugged this thing.

Also we'd like to thank Sakajati for the the original sleek black welcomehead.96 that became the basis for the new Phoenix welcome screen.

We thank JCKOTZE for the spectacular new M2D skin that brings everything together and for his permission to let Travito brand it with the Phoenix seal and font. For those of you who want a non-Phoenix-branded version, it is available at: http://cay720325.deviantart.com/art/Gradiant-theme-108988478

Introduction / Critical Details

This build is based on a port of 6.1 build 21109 done by Anryl. It is rumored to have the 6.5 kernel…but none of us has been able to confirm that. The build is very fast and stable. It uses the latest TI video drivers.

We also are pleased to release an Iolite port including footprints and all the gadgets of 20765 from Anryl as well.

It is pre-patched for custom weather using scotchua’s patched manila2d binary. This gives us a very stable, skinnable and customizable version of Manila.

Please report any feedback, good or bad, in the thread.

Important: Please make sure to hard reset before it customizes the first time. This seems to make all new bleeding edge roms more stable. Also if you are a flashaholic, you should flash with a stock HTC build then flash this build.

Here is a link to the latest htc 6.1 rom with radio etc: http://rapidshare.com/files/157469239/Kaiser_HTC_ASIA_HK_WWE_3.34.721.2.rar

Here is a link to the same rom without radio--this is the one I recommend you flash: http://www.mediafire.com/?kdztyyzjmkm

I noticed on my device it is more stable this way. First time flashers, please follow the link above and make sure have hard spl 3.29 or higher on your device.

Screenshots:

(These aren't really in any particular order, they were a bit jumbled in the folder when I unzipped them and it took me long enough just to get them into one big image file, because I can't put more than 4 images in a post apparently.)

http://wkycomputing.com/PhoenixCollage.png

Now, without further adieu...

There are a few extra goodies like a cool action screen, and other items installed during customization for your use. If you like them, keep them. If not, they can be removed using the remove programs applet in the control panel.

S2U2 is Included by default but you have to manually activate s2u one time to get it to automatically work. If you want a newer unbranded version, see Travito's post below where he'll maintain a collection of cool CABs.

ATTENTION 2.014 USERS...Control Panel Customization Fix

Below you will see a control panel fix...this puts back into the control panel several applets that were inadvertently left out of the customization process when I fixed the symbol pad issue. Only 2.014 has this issue. Apply the cab below and soft reset.

Revised Phoenix Theme
This corrects an issue with the message bar being white with white text. Unzip and put it in your My Documents folder in the root of the device. Then you can apply it in settings/personal/home. You can then run glossy black bars to get the jet black bars back or leave them silver if you like it. This tsk is included in the rebuild--2.011 above.

TouchFlo Fix

This cab fixes the touchflo control panel. If you have Phoenix 2 downloaded before 2: 25 EST January 27, you can install this to fix the control panel issue. It is also included in 2.011 above.

FontSize Increase

This makes the menus finger friendly. Apply the cab and soft reset.

Sim PIN Fix

Install this cab to fix the missing keypad for the SIM pin then soft reset.

ACTIVE SYNCH---PLEASE READ--Links fixed

Active Sync issue is a known issue since windows mobile 5. There is a thread about how to fix this..but these two posts seem most applicable:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2623238&postcount=11
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2842860&postcount=27

dotfred's task manager is in the rom in the system tools folder. It is called reg manager. Also the bogus server information is in the rom on purpose. It stops you from having to do so many steps. The single most important thing you need to do is disable replog from notification on time changes. That is explained in the two posts above.

VibrateOnConnect CAB

This cab turns on the vibration when the phone connects. I built this because many of you like this. I personally turn this off but by popular demand here it is.

GS Finder--by request here is a link to the cab: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=157385&d=1234662337

Parley,
Hate to ask this but.....I dowloaded this stock ROM and it was an .exe file. I have to flash from SD and usually change the .nbh file to KAISIMG - whats the process for flashing a .exe from SD? (Hopefully its not something obvious like just putting it in the root of the SD card :D)

Give me a few minutes. I'll pack up a kaisimg.nbh for you. No the exe won't work. Let me download it and unpack. I'll link it here and the first post because that rom has radio and everything. I'll get a stripped one with just the OS ready.

If you are in a hurry, just run the exe on your desktop. Look in the directory it creates. There you'll find the .nbh file there that you can rename and put in the root of your card. It will load up a radio, but the radio it loads is compatible with this rom so you can keep it if it works for you.

I agree that it may take a little longer to start but once started it is faster than before. This is a very rich graphical theme with many elements that are almost 3d...takes a bit to render it but I think the trade off in load time is worth it.

Yes--I have had it since the first of January through my technet subscription. I have it running very well on a 6 year old laptop...I haven't tried to synch a phone with it. Vista wouldn't even load on this laptop so I think they are moving in the right direction.

I am running Win7 Beta. No problems flashing at all. It installed without having to add any driver either. For a Beta, it's pretty stable and a lot faster than Vista. The new task bar is nice as well...

ok, so do you guys recomend i do an instalation upgrade from windows xp to win7? i am running a toshiba satellite M45 with 1.73 ghz pentium/centrino, and 1.5gig of ddr2 ram, but only 5400 rpm hdd :( . i like to flash via active sync, and i was worried win7 wouldn't allow that.

I agree that it may take a little longer to start but once started it is faster than before. This is a very rich graphical theme with many elements that are almost 3d...takes a bit to render it but I think the trade off in load time is worth it.

agreed, this has to be one of the most beautiful themes i have seen hands down. who crafted this theme?

No upgrade. I recommend a completely new install. Backup your data and blow away. I do that every year or so on my xp machines...several of which are just waiting for windows 7...since vista really wasn't an upgrade in my opinion. Sure some elements of aero are cool but the performance hit wasn't acceptable in my view. In fact, our entire company skipped it except for the groups that needed to be able to support software running on it or writing software for running on it...Yes I work for a software company. The specs on the laptop in question that I used are 750 mb ram, 60 gig hd, 32mb discrete video ram...pentium 4 2.5g...so yeah, yours can run it easily. Yours is two generations newer. I used Vista drivers for everything.

If your computer supports booting from an external device/hard drive, then it probably will run but may be slow depending on what type of connection? If it is not at least usb2 or firewire, it will be bad for performance.

so you think my laptop specs can handle w7? it's 56% downloaded. another question, can an OS be ran from an external hdd that is ntfs formatted?

Well i don't know your laptop spec but here are my desktop's specs.

AMD Sempron 3000+ 2.0 Ghz Single Core 666Mhz FSB Socket A
2 GB DDR 400Mhz RAM
Nvidia nForce 2 Ultra 400 Motherboard (Abit AN7)
Radeon X1650 AGP 8X Video
2 x 80GB Maxtor SATA Hard Drives in a RAID 0

Now it took some work due to the Nvidia MB because there's no Vista and hence no Win7 Drivers, but I have run both Vista and Win7 on this system without any problems other than the Sound not being exactly as good as it was in XP. Also, as stated do a clean install. Don't upgrade to Win7. You can use the "Repair Windows" option from the Win7 Install CD at boot-up, than click on add driver to explore your hard drive and delete all files off of it beside stuff you want back-up including the old Windows and Program Files folders. Not quite as good as formating, but if you only have one partition and no way to back-up your old files, it works nicely for a clean install...

Hey.
I have a trickey solution to enter pin-code for SIM.

If the white screen to enter PIN-Code doesent come up, you have to start Comm-Manger, to disable radio, wait4 sec, enable radio, and then enter the PIN-Code.

I hope you have entered the pin several times, because you have to do it anyway, the (blind) keys go here:

1 2 3 Erase
4 5 6 Eacape
7 8 9
- 0 - Enter

Sorry, thats what i know.....

Okay - I am having a few problems with this ROM but i think its because I flashed with sim card in (I forgot it was there)....I am re-flashing the stock ROM and then going back to the Phoenix but I noticed the Phoenix Splash Screen (??) is still there when I flash to stock. I think I have read about this before but for the life of me I couldnt find it in a search. This is not really a big deal but I was curious how to remove it if the need arises.

I'd prefer that way ...radio, rom and splash screen on different nbh, giving more freedom of customisation and testing ...though I have been hit once by HR coz I didnt realise that the RUU perform task 28 rather than task 32 when flashing a radio only :D

Parley, good job here ....

EDIT;
"Important: Please make sure to hard reset before it customizes the first time. This seems to make all new bleeding edge roms more stable. Also if you are a flashaholic, you should flash with a stock HTC build then flash this build."

I am going to figure out the pin bug, incorporate the action screen where the operator screen is then...take a day or two to relax and get some things done around my house and then onto 6.5 for Phoenix 3...and begin phoenix for Hermes.

If you download the theme file from deviant art on the first page and unzip it, inside you will find a bunch of files. Put those files in the m2dc them directory. I keep m2dc installed on my storage card because the themes take up space. The first thing you should do is backup the theme and settings...then you can apply new themes, change launcher etc...

First--install m2dc to your sd card
Then you can get themes like the one I link to on the first post.

Inside that zip file you find themes that are named with a file extension of .m2dct
Copy that file into the Theme directory that is located
Storage Card\Program Files\M2DC\Themes

Then run m2dc...For detailed instructions on m2dc, you can follow the link in the first post. There are also links in that thread to themes.

Every time I make a phone call, I end up with static coming out of the speaker. I can't make or receive phone calls unless I restart the phone. I was wondering if this is a problem with the radio, and which radio I should be using.

Like I said, very noobish I be. I know I saw a radio thread around here, I just don't know which one to use. Really sorry if this was answered already, I read through the thread and didn't see any similar issues.

I flashed the stock HTC rom before flashing your awesome Phoenix.

Also, there's a bit of a bug with me at least and the theme, the theme goes wacky when there's an appointment in the home tab. I've fixed this by simply reapplying the theme in M2DC, but you'll need the theme file if you want to do that. I'll upload it tonight.

i just have some minor bugs to report
1. a slight delay when i use space on the hardware keyboard, causes me to backspace a lot...might have to do with the htc keyboard installed since i remember having the same problem when i installed it before on other roms
2. when i stay in a sms convo, whenever i reply, the messages i reply to remain unread until i either exit and go back to my inbox or if i highlight the text. just a small bug

(http://phxdev.wkycomputing.com)

bug reports will still be heard here, but they'll be SO MUCH EASIER to track if you also submit them in PDC.

Note to mods/whomever else that may be curious, this is not to detract or take away from XDA in any way shape or form. We hope that people will be inspired by this collaboration and learn how to create their own ROMs in the process using the many tools provided by the Kaiser community at XDA, and XDA is an invaluble resource to us all.

love the rom..super fast

i just have some minor bugs to report
1. a slight delay when i use space on the hardware keyboard, causes me to backspace a lot...might have to do with the htc keyboard installed since i remember having the same problem when i installed it before on other roms
2. when i stay in a sms convo, whenever i reply, the messages i reply to remain unread until i either exit and go back to my inbox or if i highlight the text. just a small bug

nonetheless..its still an awesome rom, my favorite one so far, great job!

I second those 2 issues, but also agree that they are not a huge deal. One question though, how do I make it so that when I am starting a text message, it tries to guess who's name in the recipient column? I think this is an easy fix. Thanks guys!

How did you fix the blank text message problem?

Check your PM...I really think that the video drivers fixed this issue. Neither the TI driver I included nor the SJ Omnia or pure omnia from the port have the blank text issue.

It is pre-patched for custom weather using Scowltura’s patched manila2d binary. This gives us a very stable, skinnable and customizable version of Manila.

Just a quick note... not sure if you really ment to credit me or not for this. I have been lucky enough to be one of the beta testers for the rom, but I know I never worked on patching M2D. I suppose there could be another Scowltura on the board... but in case you did make a mistake, just wanted to make you guys aware so you could credit the proper person for their work.

As for the ROM, looks fantastic... can't wait to have a crack at it.

Is this the one from yesterday or did you download this afternoon? If you downloaded yesterday, try the new link. I fixed a couple bugs. Also, make sure you flash with the htc rom without radio first...then flash phoenix. I hard reset before customization and then let it do its thing. I have no lagging issues except getting to the sound applet...that thing always lags when you want to get to the second tab no matter who cooked the rom.

Flashed 2.011f 2G yesterday. after flashing HTC stock rom. still the touchflo config option inside settings was blank or white.. tried installing touchflofix but without succes (no permissions) killed touchflo applicated, killed touchflo in today did soft reset but still without succes.

Yeah, I downloaded it yesterday afternoon (1.27.09), along with the htc shipped rom, which i flashed first, the phx second, and did the hard reset before customization. It will let me into the sound settings page from the m2d settings tab, but the "all settings" folder gets no love. just noticed that if i turn the screen off and then back on, i get a full white screen. only resetting seems to bring it back. i am currently on radio 1.71.09.01, but i don't think that would have adverse affects on the settings tab. hard spl 3.56.

I am about to forsake this rom--I tried it after getting frustrated with HyperDragon. Mine locks up every time I click on the settings.

Also, twice now it has started playing this nursery rhyme song (my wife said it is Alouetta) for no apparent reason. I want to click on settings to see what this sound is linked to but I can't and there is no on-screen notification telling me why it is playing the song--it just plays for about 60 seconds.

I'm in the customization screens as we speak... can't wait to have a good look at this ROM. One interesting note though... in the past, whenever I did the hard reset, I would loose my time zone and time (in the initial setup part). Indeed, when I flashed the standard HTC rom in prepration, same thing happened. However, when I immediately re-flashed the phoenix II build, suddenly my proper time zone and proper time re-appeared! (I never entered them before I re-flashed). I then went ahead and hard reset again before the customization screen and it still remembered my time zone and current time!

Anyone else noticed this?

I set the rom up to pick up the time zone, time and date on a hard reset or flash. It will always pick it up if the sim is in the phone.

First off, glad to have this rom. runs smooth, and quite fancy looking. good pick for the theme. Something i have appreciated on other rom's though, is the ability to select multiple items, such as in email, by starting at the first item, and then sliding down to the last item. This feature is available in some roms, and not in others. i was curious if this was a registry change, or something that must be cooked in, or a cab of some sort? is there a way to bring that functionality to this rom?

After using it... this is my findings...

Activesync start in background
Cannot drag and drop files, draw and select multiple files in total commander (due to touchscroll)
m2d theme seems too crowded.. Disabled it straight away...
Took very long time in the first sync.. I sync all past calendar event..
Pheonix theme .tsk isn't there.. Therefore after apply the windows default theme i cannot get back the pheonix picture..
There's microsoft exchanges server in the activesync, maybe this trigger the activesync in background..
There's one shortcut that doesn't work.. Forgot what it is because i already delete it.
You already have FdSoft taskmanager v2.9, and there's also advance ask manager by schap.... kinda redundant...

On the weather tab all the graphics are missing from there. I see the temperatures, but none of the graphics that should accompany them

two annoying bugs I have found, like others have

My experience with ROM installs are all with a Kaiser Custom install. Since this is a nbh file my understanding is that I need to load it to the root of my flash card and start the bootloader. Is that correct and what should I name the file?

Had the same problem with sites visited through Opera Mobile - chalked it up to the site I was visiting.

Now it seems it might have been a setting in Opera??

You can just copy a KaiserCustomRUU.exe into the same folder as the nbh and run it.

If you want to flash by sd card, which is the safest way, rename the nbh to kaisimg.nbh and put it in the root of the storage card then enter the bootloader.

There is a KaiserCustomRUU attached to the 2nd post of the thread. I am also uploading shortly a replacement file that includes the RUU.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the screen shot of the settings page, I see the icon for MS Voice Command. Which version is it and does it announce the incoming calls?

That works with any rom I have tried it with.

hey guys, i know other people have brought this up and i dont want to sound like a broken record but the space bar on the hardware keyboard is much more delayed then all the other keys.
it registers your press on it about a sec. after you actually press it.
so when your typing "see you in a minute" really fast it ends up "seey oui n am inute"
kinda aggrevating to have to backspace all the time.

Hi, first let me say this is an awesome ROM, I first installed the version 2.014, ran into the texting bug and then updated to the 2.016 with the text fix. However, I have the Plantronics Voyager 510 Bluetooth Headset and it won't connect with my ATT Tilt. I'm able to connect to my laptop and Sony Ericksson w810i via bluetooth but not the headset. Could this be a radio issue or a bluetooth setting? The radio installed is 1.65.14.06. Thanks in advance.

"itsy bitsy spider", and I have that too when I have notifications checked. Any fix?

I fixed the links. The links are fixes to keep active synch from running all the time.

I am going to upload a build tomorrow removing the usb to pc popup so that we can access the connections correctly. The usual fix is to uncheck advanced network functionality but you can't do that because the popup removes that option. So I'll take the pop up out because it doesn't function right anyway. It seems that when I soft reset my devices, it rather does a hard reset and I have to set it all back up. I am going to try to flash everything again to see if that helps matters.

You should flash the base htc rom in post one first. Use the second link because I stripped that down to just the OS. Once that is flashed and customized, reflash the current phoenix rom. Then after you do the alignment and other things, just when the customizing starts, you should hard reset. If you have a problem with big fingers like I do, just soft reset and when it comes back up, go to settings and clear storage--that will hard reset it. That seems to solve these types of issues.

The tsk is doing some funky things here. I have seen this too. I am trying to find a reliable tsk editor...but that has proven to be very difficult. If anyone has one that works and is 100% reliable--I'd even settle for 80% reliable at this point, please let me know. I don't like the phoenix in the start menu, and one of the editors put it there and won't let me take it out. I may build a new theme from scratch for the build tomorrow.

How about a version with HTC Home or SPB Mobile Shell or something besides M2D? M2D is more trouble than it is worth. It looks pretty, but with no landscape support it just isn't worth it.

If everyone put as much time into HTC Home as they do M2D it would probably be just as pretty, and far less cumbersome to use.

On ur .14 rom i used the newest m2dc that just came out and it worked without messing up the home clock. M2DC causes this for me too. I don't know if it's something with the XML or what, but apply the ZIP i'm about to attach with M2DC and see if it alleviates your issue.

You'll need to turn off the analog clock with M2DC if you think it looks out of place.

I can tell you all that when you remove the analog clock the whole digital clock becomes misaligned.

I have attached a copy of the correct htchomesettings.xml. The values for the clock alignment have been corrected. Use total commander or gsfinder to copy this into your windows folder after you have disabled touchflo. Once you renable, the clock will be correct.
