Please note:
After flashing the ROM, perform a Hardreset with press'n'hold of both Green and Red Phone button while performing a softreset with the stylus! After one or two seconds a white screen is poping up and now press the Enter button! After this reboot your device with pressing the green button once again! If you want a much smoother reaction, wait a minute or two before continuing with the first-time-setup!

I'm currently working on my next ROM of the Clean Black series! It's based on the new ROM from HTC Iolite (also know as XDA Guide, thanks to Blackdragon_860) with OS 5.2.20765 and Build 20765, AKU 1.4.5! It could be only a placebo but it seems that it's a tick faster than 21109 and 21014!

So far only noticed the sync bug, connections and sms are also down, not sure yet if its a rom bug or not...
The wallpaper is also buggy, it shows half a dragon (or is that a mid-beta joke?). :D

You removed the opal dialer and opal taskbar screen... :( sniff, nothing that cant be installed thru cabs afterwords...
The speed is great. :)

You also removed that new contact list chooser with the letters on the right side... Kind of liked it, but no biggie as I hardly used it, I prefer iContact...

Flash lite 3 is already installed, but flash lite 3 is not final, very buggy and brings nothing more than Flash 7 already did.
I know I can install Flash 7 on top, but what I'm saying is, that version cant be used properly, so why bother having it pre-installed?

Sync and gprs/3G doesnt work (already said that).
But also cant send/receive sms (this is a major inconvenient). :(

I have a small personal problem with versions 2 and 3, mainly because of the official video drivers and a small bug with the sidekeys on some emulators.

Personally v1 is my favorite and from what I have tested v4 its waaaaaaaay faster. :D
I'd wait for it if I was you.

Not sure it helps, but I tested the WM6.5 test rom and the latest Lily and they both have the activesync working.

Im thinking its a rom issue, as I changed from v4 back to v1 whithout changing the radio and v1 worked fine.
Also tried to manually install all the registry values with the ACTIVESYNC name on them and some windows files from v1 to v4 and nothing...

I'm planning to release a Pre-Final later today! If you want to try it, please test the following:

- sending SMS/E-Mail messages
- ActiveSync connection to Desktop PC
- surfing with GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA

I'll suggest you you to use Radio 1.58.21.23S because all is working for me, excepting the ActiveSync Desktop PC connection!

I'm creating a new skin, that will be firstly exclusive to the M2D version of the Animelover's Clean Black v4 Rom.

Like my previous skin "transTAB", it will be transparent and blend in perfectly with the grey taskbar TSK, allowing any background flat color or photo.

Since this is Animelover's last rom for the Touch dual, this is a small homage to his great work.

If you installed the v4 beta rom and cant connect to the activesyn in any way...
And if you dont know how to update back to another rom without active syns...

Folow these steps:

- Download another rom, like, say.. this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=420157
Or any other that you may already have...

- Grab a card reader and connect your microSD card to your Pc:

- Copy the file RUU_signed.nbh from the rom into the root of your microSD card.

- Rename the file to nikeimg.nbh.

- Insert the card back into the Touch Dual.

- Remove the back cover.

- Press both the Camera and the Power button (without releasing) and reset the phone with the help of the stylus (by inserting it in the little hole on the side of the microUSB entrance).

- A grey screen should come up.

- Press the power button when asked.

- Wait untill its totally finished (not just the fill bar, but a SUCCESS message too).

- Reset and enjoy your new rom.

:)

PS: Always perform a Hard-reset after flashing (press and hold red and green buttons while doing a reset, then press ENTER when asked and green again when its done), it fixes a lot of future bugs.

From what I tested from your rom, I still couldnt get sms, but that could have been a radio issue.

It wasnt, but I wouldnt trust it with the official htc/qtek support here in Portugal, I heard it got better but I suffered enough in their hads before.

You can read, right? Then you would know that this ROM is for the HTC NIKE! But if you're a cooker, then you can dump it, replace the whole OEM part and recook it for your device!

Have a look at the OEM 5.50 by jerpelea in the Nike kitchen. Got SMS/Activesync working great.

This might be true but it's a bit more judding (in german: ruckeliger) then the OEM part in my first Clean Black ROM! And you can't map the buttons as in this mentioned ROM so that's why I don't want to use OEM Package v5.50 by jerpelea! ;)

Doesn't the Iolite 20765 show as "CE OS 5.2.20765 (Build 20765.1.4.4)" already? Changing to Blackstone increases the second decimal point by one!

Have flashed v4 basic and............ v4 have faster loading speed then v2, but v2 have more faster 2D

I can see it clearly when i tap on another tab in Manila2D (v22).
In v2 it switches immediately, on v4 it requires, a little, but time.
Because placebo effect is possible, i have benchmarked they in vsb07, and the results are:
V2 = 1655
v4 = 1545

But because some trash in v2, i wouldnt change it back :)

Has the Disk Drive in 'USB to PC' bug been fixed. I'm having a terrible time finding a fix for this... Thought I solved it by using the Diamonds USB to PC packages, as it got rid of the "needs a memory card" message, but doesn't really connect to PC.

I think there wouldn't be any real working "USB to PC" app from the new HTC devices! The only way for this is to use WM5torage v1.89 Beta (Freeware) or Softick CardExport (Shareware, which I prefer)!

I downloaded the file again but the result is the same.

- Installing a application (for example S2U2) seems to take very long, think in V2 Reloaded it was much faster (can only be a feeling)

The image of the background - map of world or parts of world - should extend to the tabs. Otherwise, other artefacts creep in. In this case, the main screen's background. If M2D themes are changed, the bottom portion contains artefacts of other images, including M2DC red cross (preview).

hh_location_maps_0 to 10 should be 202x240 in size to cover this area.

Nice idea, but if i connect my nike to PC at work, it can't establish a data connection (Firewalled).
No chance to get Data Connection with mobile phone :(

1. Not all Users like the opal stuff
2. Many people (like me) didn't use Opera. There are some alternatives Skyfire, Opera Mini, Netfront,...
3. Empty Line was an Bug in M2D Skin and should be fixed (see postings from tWolf)

Personally I love this default keyboard, used many and this is always the one I come back to. Less buggy than many others with all the keys already there. Could be a little bigger, but you can always installer others. I have CMkeyboard with a skin I made, aiming to be as close as posssible to this one:

"The most common applications" changes from user to user, I personally love wktask, hehehe... That app, opal system status and QUICKMENU really changes Windows Mobile's navigation completly for me. :)

I upgraded a friends Nike - 16 key MDA Touch Plus to your rom.

Previously, when he wanted to create a new text message he would simply start to type in the To: field in predictive text style and contact names would appear at the bottom. He would press the dpad button to accept that contact name.

After flashing this ROM things seem to have changed a bit for the worse.

When he's on the To: field and starts to type it's in predictive word completion mode, not predictive contact completion. To get around this, every time he wants to send a text he has to hold down the xt9 button on the keypad, choose ABC from the menu and then start to type.

...but... it doesn't end there.

If he wants to get the contact "william", he presses "9" (for w) then presses "4" 3 times (for i). The contact "william" will appear at the bottom.
If he then presses the dpad button while the last letter is still highlighted then he gets the contact name followed by two letter "i"'s - as follows:

william <073747474747>; ii

The cursor is then stuck in between the two letter "i"'s and any contact name that begins with "i" is then shown at the bottom! HOW FRUSTRATING!

If however, he waits for the highlighted letter "i" to become un-highlighted then it works fine when pressing the dpad button to accept the "william" contact.

I've tried installing an older version of EzInput (1.0) to see if that brought back the old functionality but all I could type were numbers!
I reverted back to EzInput 1.5 for the time being as he needed to use his phone today.

Is there any way to fix this annoying issue?

As far as i remember this is a bug on all new Roms, expect the Original HTC/Provider Roms :(
Also in case the T9 didn't know a word and you want to type in a new word for learning you have manually switch to ABC every time.

And I'd advice the Clean Black 4 Manila2D, just because it already has everything for the normal use, and since you are still new at this, no need to search for extra cabs.

Like twolf said, you can try the Manila2D ROM for a start with Custom ROMs!



And I wrote it in the first post: every ROM depends on the ROM before! Basic -> Normal depends on Basic with some extra apps -> Office depends on Normal with some extra apps -> Manila2D depends on Office with some extra apps!

i have had this image on the phone for a while and only today discovered that the bluetooth is not working. When I say not working I mean that I can send a file , but cannot receive. I tried from different phone's. The other phones see my phone, but when they send it just says failed on their side. nothing comes to me.

Goto: Start -> Settings -> Connections -> Beam and mark the point "Receive all incoming beams" -> SoftReset (Reboot) and try again

And be shure your device is in bluetooth settings visible for other devices.

It doesnt connect to vista, but it connects to my XP laptop.

Weather ap cant update
Camera ap doesnt work.
on any screen there is a small white line on the top most part as if the GUI cant reach to top of the screen.

Also I did a hard reset after installing the new ROM. Any suggestions?

-ActiveSync: Error 608 It's a problem with your PC. (Maybe Firewall) or try to reset you ActiveSync Profile (C:\Documents and Settings\%Username%\Application Data\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Profiles). Delete all subfodlers from Profiles
-cant flash: Try to flash HardSPL to your Device again and you should be able to flash any rom you want.

I try everything what you said, butt still nothing.
When I putt device in bootloader and trying to flash Hardspl, progress staying at 0%...

My HardSPL is 1.22

Cant flash from SD card, because I cant connect device with PC and cant putt any file to SD... :(
Dont have any card reader on PC...

@twolf: sorry for a noob follow up question: So all i need to do is to rename the radio to to "nikeimg.nbh" no need to sspl or hardspl right? And my current rom will remain intact? :-) My problem is the radio available here are exe programs that need to be run on pc.

Yes, rename.
Always backup, just in case.

The sspl/hardspl im not sure, I did a hardspl once and never bothered with that again. :/

Thanks twolf, I wasnt able to find the Radio nbh file so I just ran the exe without Hardspl and it worked. My Roms ok now. does the clean black rom support Video calls because I notice Gullums doesnt.

By default it doesn't support Videocall because I used the Opal Dialer in this ROM! And as you may know, the HTC Opal doesn't have a second camera for Videocalling! ;)

2.) It wont connect to the PC with activesync not matter what I try (USB-PC options)

As I have the same issue with my Vista let me step in:

What I did:
Flashed the radio to 1.58.21.23S
Hard reseted
Flashed your Manila ROM via SD
Hard reseted
Disabled advanced network features in "USB to PC"

Deleted all Sync Center profiles on the PC
Deleted all files in %users\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Profil es


What happened:
ActiveSync on the device threw a 608 error


What I tried next:
Several Hard resets
Multiple re-flashs
PC reboots
Removal of all driver traces in device manager
Uninstallation of Windows Mobile Device Center, reboot, installation of WMDC 6.1


All to no avail. Basically the PC recognizes the device and install the "HTC USB" driver but then the device throws the 608.

I have the exact same issue with the GERMAN ROM V3:

In the end I flashed the last official HTC update (and again flashed the radio) and everything works as supposed to.

I have had this black image on the phone for a while and only recently discovered that the bluetooth is not working. When I say not working I mean that I can send a file , but cannot receive. I tried from different phone's. The other phones see my phone, but when they send it just says failed on their side. nothing comes to me.

I have installed radio ver. RUU_Nike_Radio_1.58.21.23_25.65.30.04S and this does not help.

When I installed _HTC_Touch_Dual_APAC_RUU_Nike_HKCSL_WWE_2.16.831.3 _Radio_NikeMR_1.65.29.22_signed_Ship. it worked.

I have now gone back to Black and it does not work again.

Just reinstall HTC Album (Iolate Test). It's attached in this thread by twolf, this solved my problems with album :)

SMS Threading -> install Advanced Config Tool, with this tool you can change the SMS Mode.

T9 - sorry no idea, maybe it helps to reinstall the english language pack and "enable XT9" for Keyboard (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2640816)

One last problem.

I can connect, via 3G/GPRS and browse the internet and update the weather etc. but cannot download my IMAP email.

My email settings are correct though as when I connect to my computer via activesync my email updates no problem.

Any ideas?

I keep finding references to 16 keys and 20 keys models. The roms all work for both models? Specifically this rom, works for both models?

I read the posts about unlocking and flashing and I assume also that the procedure is the same for both versions, is that correct?

The Touch Dual comes in 2 flavours - one where there are 20 keys to the keypad (and each key has 2 letters to it) and the standard 16 keys (all mobile phones). If you don't use the keypad for SMS/email/text entry etc, you will not see any difference regardless of RON chosen. The phone works the same. If you use the keypad, then you need to select the correct version for your phone.
