sers,
hope your rom is as nice as it sounds. I'm gonna test it as download is finished.
did you tried mediafire (http://www.mediafire.com/) for uploading your roms? i think they provide unlimited download speed...
if you dont like it rapidshare.de (http://www.rapidshare.de) is still an alternative, they provide much faster downloading than rapidshare.com.

Links finally worked (thanks guys)
Installed this ROM and it is fast and smooth. Even the traditional slow accessed settings and programs moved quicker.
I installed Xmod's HD 1.8.1 and 1.8.5 fix (not the combined CFC version) and even that is faster.
It would be great if Tommy's ROM was used as a base ROM for further changes and enhancements.
Well done Tommy and thanks! :)

i think that your problem with gettin hot is not from the ROM. It has to do with radio.
I have this ROM installed, and it is FAST. The only bug i could find is that sometimes, the volume buttons don't work. After a soft restart they work ok. I don't really know what is the problem but ... i will keep this ROM, because it is closest to the stock one.
SO, change your RADIO to a better one and see if it still get's hot

I've been running this rom a few days now.
+ It's very stable
+ It's quite fast (haven't tested stock rom though)
- Eats a lot of ram (about 60-70% at reboot)
- Heat problem
The phone gets extremely hot (dangerously hot to be more precise) when connected with USB or BT. I haven't done that much testing but this heat problem occurred when I shared internet connection to my laptop. The heat problem doesn't seem to occur when only charging the battery.
I was running CT's latest rom before this one, CT seemed a lot faster and consumed a lot less ram (about 50% or even less). But CT was very unstable.
I'm going to keep this rom and I recommend it to you guys as well.
Thanks a lot! :)

...RAM usage is unusually high, like over 70% even though applications are not running. Also, the signal reception seemed to be bit less than that of 1.09..

Extra RAM usage is actually ...... pagepool ;)
Conventually, static pagepool decreases "total program memory". Dynamic pagepool, in contrast, increases "used program memory". Because pagepool size (e.g. 8MB), is small compared with total program memory (e.g. 100MB), but large compared with used program memory (e.g. 50MB). So in dynamic pagepool case, pagepool size will have greater impact on RAM usage % (difficult to explain :( , please kindly do some mathematical imagination).
Luckily, RAM usage % is just a *numerical illusion*, suppose both static pagepool & dynamic pagepool consume the same amount of memory (e.g. 8MB), free memory (both static & dynamic) are the same even though RAM usage % of dynamic pagepool is higher :)

CAB could do most of performance tweak.
ATI driver, .NetCF3.5 are all encapsulated as CAB. ;)

Hi Tommy!!
Can any one tell me what are the exact changes in this ROM?
Also radio is bit older. is new one (09) is bad?
09 radio ROM is great, esp. in the balancing between battery consumption and signal strength. 08 is chosen because it is great and focusing on battery performance. Flashing 09 radio ROM while keeping aFast is a good idea, if 09 radio ROM performs great in your country.

For CT, CT has done great magic on performance & storage memory tweak.
For hot issue, it is safe for sure ;) If a cooler Diamond is prefered, please kindly change radio ROM to original (1.09.25.23), issue would disappear instantly. :)

Hi kings121
Radio 1.11.25.0 is promising in most aspects and regions (e.g. HK). Excellent signal reception !!! (while battery consumption is reasonable)
aFast ROM v2.03 (040) would be ready within these few days. Featuring snappy operation, tiny memory consumption and more suitable for being MID (Mobile Internet Device). Latest build is aFast ROM v2.03 (035, with radio 1.11.25.0 built-in)

Will you be releasing a build 210.... from Topaz ROM? I like the "as near as stock ROM" philosophy.:)

It's a great idea to build ROM upon it. :)

Really looking forward to such a build then. Right now using your current release and it's a marvel. If you manage to replicate such a release with Topaz ... well it would be really brilliant....

thanks tommytao for the great release.
flashed my device with the afast v2.03 b35 rom 2 days ago. i must say that this is the best i have seen as yet. fast, stable and very responsive.
have tried many roms but with a lot of problems:
i. Shaks.P v3.20 18.01.2009
ii. SwiftBL Diamond ROM V7.5
iii. Duttys 5.2.20764.1.4.3_V4_Full_CVSD (3.02)
iv. Stock v1.34 WWE
v. Stock v1.93 WWE
vi. Stock v2.03 WWE
however, i have a few suggestions:
i. use the 1.09.25.23 radio version. my device was burning up with the current v1.11.25.0 and battery life was poor. after downgrading to v1.09.25.23 heat is virtually non-existent even after 20mins of gps use and reception seem great. this is even better than v1.00.25.05
ii. you should consider esmertec jbed for the java vm instead of the stock jblend. i find installation of midlets easier and they generally run faster on esmertec jbed
anyway, thanks again. ill be sticking to this release for some time. keep up the great work!!

Latest build is aFast ROM v2.03 (035, with radio 1.11.25.0 built-in)
hey tommy, i have tried plenty of roms and im glad to say that yours is the best that i have used. very fast and responsive. virtually 99% bug free.. well... using advance config v3.3, wasnt able to load saved provisioning XML. meaning i have to spend abt 20 mins configuring if i reformat my TD for theming.
keep up the great work. thanks..

If you want more bands, besides going into the registry and doing it yourself, you can can add them with this cab.

After having tried a number of ROMs, this one is the fastest and reasonably stable. I have installed ce star (from pda4x). It displays both English and Chinese perfectly.

Hello Tommy
After I installed your ROM I installed programs requiring NETCF 3.5.
You mentioned in your post that your b40 ROM has NETCF 3.5. But when I went to run my installed programs they did not work and error messages occured telling me my NETCF was outdated or I needed to upgrade my version!!??
I had to install 3.5 manually by a cab file. All my programs worked.
I also installed NETconfig. This showed me that NETCF 2.0 was already installed in the ROM.
This may be useful to you unless I have missed something.
Thanks for your ROM.
Aussie :)

Hi, great ROM. Keep up the good work!
Bugs/ suggested changes:
.NET 3.5 should be installed by default.
Doesn't check e-mail, even thou you've set it up to do so.
Graphic gliches: Sometimes when opening windows modules from manilla, the screen is split in half and it shows half win module and half manilla (lower part).
When browsing the internet, all open programs close, and Opera hangs. Dynamic memory problem?

i rly like ur super fast rom
except for the memory leak thing
i know its the dynamic pool but u gonna try integrating cleanram script like NATALYs to refresh ram each now and then
i keep getting no enough memory in opera

Hi tommy, i have tried and with much success cooking my own rom based on yours. removed a lot of redundant stuffs that i dont use at all and add programs that i require so that i have plenty of space in storage.
here's the screenshots attached.

Hello Tommy
Thank you for being so quick. :)
I use my Diamond for business mostly and for pleasure too.
I appreciate 'chefs/cookers' like yourself who are quick to improve their ROMS. Your work helps us Diamond users in so many ways. Keep up your great work!
To all the chefs/cookers out there you people have much more talent and patience than me :D
