Hi guys, need some help!

I bought a crappy prepaid phone (730SC) + sim card but I wanted another phone that had a qwerty keyboard (primarily to take advantage of the unlimited email option).

So, i picked up a brand new X03HT off yahoo auction and when i put in the prepaid sim into the X03HT, calls work fine....BUT, i'm not able to send any SMS or Emails.

I can receive emails from other mobiles okay it seems...but can't receive emails from hotmail, gmail, or from any regular email address for that matter.

Any ideas?

It defininitely is not sim locked. If if was, you wouldn't be able to make phone calls etc.

I think the issue is that you do not have an active data connection. The emails from other phones that you are referring to are probably the regular text messages, which normally do not need a data connection.

So in short: you'll need to set up your GPRS/3G/UMTS/HSDPA connection. Your phone provider will be able to tell you what those are. Please keep in mind that mobile data connections are expensive, especially with a prepaid plan. Where I live they ask ridiculous prices. Pure theft.
