Today I woke up to find duplicate folders on my storage card, as shown in image 1. Checking properties for the duplicate folder shows its an .exe and the third image confirms it.

I tried resetting the device and taking the card out, nothing helped.

Whats going on? I can delete them but what happened??

Thats weird.

Thanks guys

You have a lot of files with a folder icon that are infact executables.
Some kind of virus infection..
Check the services for any abnormal executable startups and delete them.

Otherwise: hardreset and card reformat.

Yes it seems like the folders were duplicated into .exe's.

How do I get a virus on a windows mobile?? If that is what it really is.

Any way, how do I check the services?

Virus can enter SD card when you put it in infected computer. Remove your card and insert in clean computer having good antivirus. Scan it and remove the virus. You can use some mobile antivirus as well. These are available in different fora. Google.

I took it out of the phone and put it in my card reader and currently scanning it with Kaspersky Internet Security.

Lets see what happens.

Thanks for the ideas guys, please keep it coming.

Ok Kaspesrky took about an hour and 40 mins to scan it and found several viruses.

See attached image.

It seems that the source is either the RSS updates or the target seemed to hit RSS updates. I am using SPB Insight.

It did not detect the other stuff because I manually deleted all the duplicate folders which morphed into .exe files. I guess had I not deleted them, Kaspersky would have detected and deleted them.
