I developed this little application that allows you to set the brightness level.
The program is completely customizable (graphics and settings).
Is designed to run on HTC (tested on Diamond, Touch Pro and HD) in both portrait and landscape.
Let me know if you like it or if you want some new features.

I was just thinking about an app like this one when I was in bed last week. Didn´t need my screen to be so bright, thanks a lot, 12

Edit: Can't tell any difference yet between brightest and lowest brightness, I'm on touch pro. Is the difference suposted to be minimal or huge? 12

Hey, This is just a quick suggestion for this cool app.

Would it be possible to make the app function on the volume up/down hardware keys? prehaps holding another hardware key and pressing up or down could control the app. I think this would make the app more easier to use quickly. Again, not crisitism, just an idea. :)

thanks.. :) any suggestion/problem?

great app!
one suggestion: an "always visible" icon in the topbar (it could be a brightness symbol or, better, a battery status icon) so your app can be easily accessed by tapping on topbar (I was thinking on the use with "HTC Large Title Bar" package, as htc volume control does)

Very great program!

one suggestion: is possible to add an on/off box for automatic light for use in Diamond with light sensor.

It's a cool app thank you.

bug found:

When I install both 0.40 or 0.30, the setup creates two shortcuts to mylight in the programs folder.

hello great little program but i have the same issue as bobzero with a shortcut in start menu and programs folder. Therefore the start menu cannot be removed and then the only way is to delete the shortcut.

Also i have a problem int hat there seems to be a bar at the bottom of the screen at under the soft keys? This may just be me but i dont think that it should be there!

Agreed! Or could you make a version of the new HTC Volume App with a third tab that adjusts brightness?

Just a usability suggestion, I love your app and would be lost w/o it.

This guy (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=395695)made his own version of HTC volume before it was ported, so maybe if he gave you his source? http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=98058&d=1215600649

Fantastic - I wanted a way of controlling brightness after I found that my (old) version of SPB pocket plus wouldn't control brightness on my Orbit2. This works SOO well. The really perfect bit about the design is that the control is so big that with it set up to run from a hardware key, you can turn the brightness up without having to see anything - I've been caught before with the brightness down low & I couldn't see the screen well enough to turn it up - no more! a must have.

Hey is there a chance that you can remake it to only include one shortcut as atm i have 2 shortcuts in my start menu, due to the differnces in 6.1 => 6.5.

Before one was created in the start menu and programs.

Thanks for this :D

u read my mind there ....it would be great if we can set a button that changes the brightness with each press to (low-> medium->high)

tested on kaiser with winmo 6.5 ...worked great ....i actually liked using the weel better than the finger scrooling...it gives a more solid feeling
i got to shortcuts on the program list mylight and mylight(1)...is that a glitch?

It'll be fancy if you can add the fade-in / fade out effect on the brightness of the screen when screen goes stand-by / activated!

Hi mylostblog,

Would it be possible for you to make myLight work on non-HTC devices? You see, I have installed it on my Acer M900 phone, but, as you, most probably, already know, I get a popup window saying that it could not find HTCUtill.dll whenever I try to launch it.

Thanks, anyway.
Cheers!

Hi !!! Is it possible to add a feature to auto apply a pre configured backlight when launching a program? I would like to have 100% backlight when launching HTCAlbum.exe for better photo quality. What do you think about it?

Glad I found this app. I think this solution for backlight control is better than the auto-changer programs.

Hopefully an updated version is still coming. A feature request from me is the possibility to change the amount of steps from minimum to maximum. Now, the difference between 2 steps is negligible. If there were only 3 steps from minimum to maximum, every step would be worthwhile. Just tell me if I am too lazy ;)

I face a problem on my HD2.
When I switch off the device by pressing the suspend button (Red button) the device screen is off for a moment and then again the screen is ON after getting locked. And after that it remains continuously ON in definitely and keeps on consuming battery..

this happens to me too at times but i'm not sure if this is due to mylight.

Thanks for the great app.

If this is still open for ideas, how about options/switches that could be added to the shortcut lnk file. This would be simply to be able to create an icon that I could press that would send the "screen off" command directly with one press.

This might also play into a "full bright" for the folks that want to use it before/as another app is loading.

Thank you for the app, im using it in my polaris :)

Can you make a "soft reset" option in the softkey menu?
I have assingned your app in my long press power off button and it would be really nice with that option.

Thanks, A superb app just got better! The ONLY backlight program I ever use.

In the future I think the only improvement you could make is some way of having time related changes or several positions pre-recorded.
I spend a lot of time jumping between the same places at the same times and this would make it easier.
I use Volumex (http://volumex.jdbp.mobi/) for similar tasks for my volume control (none more useful).

Keep up the great work. it's awesome
