I'm interested to buy this, what do you guys think? For those who have this, any feedback, including its performance, would be appreciated. For the price, I can actually get two HTC or four Momax 900 mAh batteries, so I'm not sure if it's worth it. By the way, the cover is mat instead of glossy.
I found the pictures on Google.

Well, I really love the matt finishing and overall high quality. Thats the finishing that HTC should have given in the original batt.
With the old glossy surface, the pyramid peaks are very vulnerable to scratches, and you can see whitish tiny scratches on the peaks. With the ext-batt's rubbery surface, it's almost scratch proof. I've been using the batt for 4-5months and it's still perfect.
As for the thickness.. frankly, 14mm is still thinner than most PPCs out there.
Enough of aesthetics.. My phone now lasts >50% longer.. which is good for me. Thats abt 2 days with some MP3s. Used to be low end of every day, which makes no sense coz you know 15-20% batt won't get you through the whole of next day.
My advice is.. get the batt as a long term investment. If you're gonna sell the phone after 6mths, bear with the lousy original batt.

Hi MasK, thanks for the input, it's very helpful.
I think I will probably keep this phone till November or December, because by that time I can get a free phone from my provider, I will just sell that right away and the Diamond to get something new. Yeah the glossy finish is really easy to scratch, right now I've to use a case to protect it.
There is another option that I'm considering, it's the HTC battery bank BB G300 (http://www.expansys-usa.com/p.aspx?i=171883). It's sightly more expensive, but I can keep it for future HTC phones or any phones that use the same connector. The only thing is I'm not a huge fan of carrying extra devices on me.

I decided to buy this battery when I one day ran out of battery at 7pm and desperately needed to send an email.
It certainly improved battery life by up to 50% and i don't think it makes the phone uglier. It's only a few mm thicker (i think 3mm) but only the fact that I get two days out of it with hotmail pushed and OWA pushed through emoze and average calling, texting emailing and surfing, should convince you to buy the battery.
The only problem I had was the HTC pouch that came with the phone. When you have the extended battery on, it won't fit your diamond any more, so I had to buy another one (a generic HTC leather pouch).
Hope it helps...

What I don't understand is, why do they only thicken the battery? They could also use the new space above and below the battery (looking straight onto the backside of the Diamond).

Thanks, same as MasK pointed out, it's good to know about the performance.

I think it's not as simple to produce a battery in some odd shape, they also have to consider about the compatibility with other models.

I got mine last week and it's great.
Mat finis is actually better than glossy - no fingerprints and I think it's going to be more durable in the long run.
As for battery life - now I can use my Diamond normally for two days, I had to charge the normal battery every day.

I've decided to go for it, and have orderes the BP E270.
Can anyone recommend some cases that would fit the 3mm fattened diamond?
Thanks,

Having owned the extended battery (and getting rid of it). I have to say I didn't like at all, the phone just felt wrong. I appreciate it only make the phone a couple of mil thicker but trust me, it wrecks the feel of the phone. If the phone came with the exteneded battery to start of with, I may have been happy with it.
Another problem I had with it, was that the back was always coming loose and sliding forward when I tried to take the phone out of my pocket.
If you are having problems with the power of your phone, then by all means get the extended battery but I'm telling you the extended makes your phone feel like a brick and even worse, makes it feel cheap.

I tend to disagree, the phone feels much better in my hand (my opinion), I liked the thin looks of the phone with the original battery, but I could never hold it properly, it slipped from my hand a couple of times, lucky it fell on the carpet. Now I like it much better, plus having the added benefit of the extra power. At the end of the day, it's a question of choice, some of you might like it, some of you might not, I don't think there is a right or wrong answer here.:)

Mine has arrived, and I really like it. As said earlier, the matte finish is much better, and the small increase in size actually makes it easier/nicer to hold.
Any suggestions on a pouch or case that fits it?

The extended battery is actually the same thickness as the 900mAh battery with a silicon case ;-) Actually I normally use a Tek Sock pouch with my extended battery.. but for now, i just have a screen protector and will try for a few days without a pouch/case.

just got mine yesterday.. however mine is the white colour version.. so still have the glossy back cover..
i check the battery status using powerguard and the battery voltage is always around 3.9V to 4V.. and the phone gets heat up v fast.. to more than 39 degree.. is my battery faulty or it is normal for the extended battery to behave like this??

my phone heats up if im using it for video viewing. what are you doing with your phone when it gets that warm?
im playing games.. but when using the original 900mAh battery, it wont get so warm.. with the extended battery, when it have around 80% battery left, the voltage is like 4.1V to 4.2V.. which i think is very high.. thats why causing the phone to heat up so much..
can anyone confirm with me that it is normal to get 4.1V to 4.2V when the battery life is more than 70%?? or is my battery faulty?? it will drop to 3.6V to 3.7V when battery life is less than 50%..

just recieved my offical one today
intital impressions, phone looks bulky and ugly,
and having it for an hour
phone feels much nicer to hold..the material seems much higher quality than the cheap flimsy plastic originally shipped with (in my opinion)
if anyones interested, i just bought it for around £20 delivered from http://www.prepaymania.co.uk/search/e270.html
i thought it was too good to be true (made an order with the same site for the same product last year and it never arrived, paypal dispute so got a refund) but at this price i couldn't resist trying, emailed them before hand and sure enough 2 days later it turned up :)
also my HR magnetic car holder, before the cover was too thin to allow the chunky magnet that came with it, but now i removed the sticky stuff, and it just fits very snugly between the battery and the cover, before i bought some .5 mm batteries to hold hte diamond to the car holder, which i find used to rotate slightly, but this one is now rock solid :)

It depends on U whether it's good or not
However for my part,it is worthy to sacrifice the beautiful surface in order to get a longer battery life!

Hi.
I was just wondering is there any USB docking cradle for HTC Touch Diamond what fits with extented battery and has an extra slot for second battery to be loaded in the meanwhile the phone is loading too.
Only I found a docking station from expansys which fits with extented battery but it doesn't have option for second battery to be loaded at the same time.
If theres any, please let me know. I'm dying with this 900mA battery.

You could buy a docking station designed for the thin diamond and take some tools to redesign it for the thick diamond with the 1340 mAh battery.
That's the way I've done it.

Could you tell me what type of docking station you have? I mean what would be easy to mod. There are plenty of stations at ebay and internet shops, I really don't have a clue what to buy. hah

I bought this one: http://www.amazon.de/Trendline24-Ladestation-Akku-Ladeschacht-Trendline-Schl%C3%BCsselband/dp/B001THG96M/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&s=ce-de&qid=1246726560&sr=8-16
And I used this tool (http://www.corel-srl.it/images/dremel_foto.jpg) to increase the space between the usb port and the carrier of the station
When finished it looks like this

Just thought I'd help out some people that were having trouble,
Here's a cab I've made of this registry hack according to post 1 in ppcgeeks:
Code:
http://rapidshare.com/files/221506540/SHK_Customs_Battery_Poll_Interval_Changer.cab
Just copy file to phone or sd card, open up a file explorer, locate file, and execute it.
(If it asks for location choose device)
**Use at own risk. But I have used it to install the hack to my phone.
After 1 day my device work very well. Test.....

after having this a few weeks, i'm sure the extended battery gets a lot hotter than the original, after being on a long phonecall i'm very aware the side of my face is very warm from the phone, one of my friends commented on it warming up with tomtom (forgot the car holder and he was holding it), i know the original one warmed up a little at least for me but this is noticably warmer, but then, the newer cover and the battery life is enough for me to ignore it, just wondered if its normal?

Yeah, mine seems to get hot while using it for a long time. The back seems more durable so im sure it can withstand it.

ok my extended battery official htc one has arrived today and i have a problem. the battery itself fits fine in the phone but the new cover that comes wiht the battery doesnt fit. i dont understand why this is not fitting.
only thing i can think of is that because i have a T-mobile branded mda version of the diamond that there could be this fitting issue. although the only difference from the pics iv seen of my t-mobile diamond and a unbranded htc one is that my one had MDA logo and T-mobile logo on it.
any solution for this?
slybunda
1st November 2010, 11:02 PM
made my own solution for this problem, had to cut out a square hole on the back of the case so the battery sits through the back cover. doesnt look too bad but main thing is its working fine now. charging battery up and will post results after testing. will also put up photo of the ghetto mod. one things for sure, its deffo taking longer to charge up than the stock 900mah battery.

above is the pic of the modded back cover to allow the extended battery to stick through.
if anyone knows of a bigger back cover that will allow the t-mobile MDA compact 4 which is the t-mobile branded version of the htc diamond that i have, to fit the extended battery please let me know where to get it from, preferably from the uk.

battery life has been increased considerably, with standard battery id be able to do a 3 hour 40 min call from 100% battery charge and id be left with 17% charge left.
with extended battery last night i did a 4 hour 30 min call, and sent few texts from 100% charge i was left with 43% charge left. this is a considerable boost in battery power. im guessing i can easily make over 8 hours of call time on a single charge with this new battery. even though iv had to mod the case to fit the battery, it was well worth the effort.

picsHey bro i have the exact same problem - i had a big battery from before original diamond not the t mobile one. When i got the new t mobile shape mda it threw up the same problem, you know i really didnt think of cutting the back up..
I am expecting an diamond pro silicone case so i guess i can modify that case to cover the alteration. Its gonna be hard to get a big cover for our mda - there was one guy on ebaby but when it arrived it was ust a normal one so i sent it back.. i am gonna try a few things and i will drop you a line keep us informed of whatcha end up with peace out brother..
update - 4th november - I cut the back out but then i realised my battery aint like yours its from cameron sino so the fit is not as clean and smooth like your one but hey thats kool i got this x2 case for 5 quid from my somalian friend shop and now i am back in business - thanx for the idea bro.. Great foru this..

iv put on the back of the phone a single piece of square ducktape which is grey in colour and now it doesnt look too bad. helps water proof the phone around the battery area. the added battery life is more than worth the hassle.
