How can I tell if my phone is unlocked? (without buying a SIM card)

I have a Tmobile Wing. I called Tmobile today to get my phone unlocked. All they gave me was a unlock request # and they told me within 24 hours, my phone should be unlocked.

The last time I unlocked a phone, they gave me a code to enter into my phone. This was not the case this time. How can I tell after 24 hours if my phone is unlocked?

I've never heard of them doing it that way, I would call T-mobile and ask them.

Wierd. I also have a wing. Called T-Mo a few weeks ago for unlock code. I got an email about a week later with an unlock code and instructions on how to unlock. Instructed me to inset a non-tmo SIM in my fone inorder to enter in the unlock code. Havent got around to it yet though...
