hello superspot
Have a look here !!!!!!!!!
http://www.news4gsm.com/?p=4632Thank you again, but it appears this is only for unlocking the phone. It does not appear to dump the complete eeprom, which is what we are searching for. But thank you for doing more research on this matter. :D It helps to have more eyes looking for an answer.

I have similar thread for Blackstone http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=542426 . More and more I read different threads, more and more I come to the conclusion that HTC use this black hole with WiFi EEPROM, for making money on parts. For you guys, good luck with sorting this out. Just let us know if you find good programmer.

I just brought this over from the Blackstone thread so it was noted here:

To be sure it is not Software related.

Can people post their Rom
And the registry key
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\CommManager\WLAN]
"DeviceName"="{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}\\TNETW12511"
(note this is the Registry key for the Diamond Wifi to work directly, Blackstone Wifi could have another GUID)

Also try to locate the wrlsmgr.exe in windows folder and try to start Wifi with that default Windows CommManager.

I've seen other devices where the address in the WLAN key was wrong, and it would show the behaviour one user posted here, you see Wifi pop up a second or two but disappear again)

I find it very interesting that the Trinity has the EXACT same registry entry. Also, the exact same WLAN Radio. So, is there a different WLAN Radio that is having the same issue (I don't remember the Hermes one), or is it solely the TNETW12511 that has the issue? Would be nice to help narrow it down a bit.

Could it be that by using these dumped ROMs that we are inadvertantly flashing code for a different WLAN Radio that is corrupting our eeproms? Maybe there is a small part of code hidden within the DUMPS that still remains? Just some thoughts... This problem seems to be happening more and more since WM6.5?

But I also realize it may be happening more and more because more people are flashing now than ever!

On my trinity (non-working WLAN) with WM6.5 I have that same registry key. The only difference is mine only has one slash between "E5006}" and "TNETW12511".

When I launch the "wrlsmgr" from the windows folder I only get the options to turn on bluetooth or phone. Nothing else appears.

I disassembled my trinity

I had already found some pics of trinity board. But now I don't know where are the 7 JTAG connections. On Hermes board, 4 of those connections are then connected to resistors. So on trinity board it is not next to that rectangular empty place because there are no resistors there.
First 2 pics are of trinity. The other 2 are from hermes jtag.

but
for wlan
into hermes is managed to
chip wl 1250 + wl 3422

into trinity
is managed to
chip wl 1251 + "fea1ti68dvv3" (unknow chip)

know another HTC which manages the WLAN with this chip?

ok but this assumes that if you reinstall the original ROM of Trinity all returns to normal

I'm sorry, I think my post was not clear.

What I meant by it was that I found it interesting that many of the phones that are having WLAN errors seem to have the same WLAN Chip. Maybe the chip is the issue. Maybe flashing some of the recent WM6.5 ROMs is causing corruption specifically on this chip? TNETW12511

If we can find the cause of the corruption, then we can prevent future issues.

We don't believe so. We think there will be a Software Fix for this, but at the moment, it does not exsist.

For the Hermes, they were able to fix it with a software flash. We are trying to come up with that for Trinity.

I finally found TRINDIAG.nbh!!!

I don't know if this can help, but I wanted to share it so as many people as possible can see what they can do with it.

WARNING!!!!
DO NOT USE THIS ATTACHMENT IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!!!

THIS MAY BRICK YOUR PHONE, SERIOUSLY!!!!

Also be aware that it WILL Hard Reset your phone. I don't know what other things it does????

With that said, I've run it on my phone, but I'm unable to figure it out all the way. It did Hard Reset my phone & Reset Call Timers, but it booted right into windows after re-setup.

When I ran Device Info, it said that my Part Number was invalid, ChecSum1 Invalid, S/N invalid, MBSN Invalid, OK Flag Invalid, & MAC was all F's.

It has a function to Write a NEW MAC, but from my research, it appears that we need an HTC PC Software to interface with the phone to accomplish that.

Good Luck, and I hope this helps to find a WiFi fix...

Maybe we can use part of this nbh to lnb using MTTY???

Yupi, best fiding ever that trindiag. A possible answer to that question might be this problem they had while developing hermes fix:

SuperSport

I used the USB Cable. Serial may make a difference.

If you connect MTTY from the Main Diag Screen, then type TASK 32, you get a DIAG Prompt. Not sure what all I can do from there, but maybe DUMP??? :):):) Seems any command I send does not work. :(

I've connected to the phone dozens of times now, and after all that, I'm still able to start up the phone and use it, less WiFi, of course. (I still recommend only experienced users try this, just in case)

I've tried connecting with Olipro 1.30 and with the Stock IPL/SPL. Nothing so far, but I'm sure one of you guys will have some ideas. :D

From other sites, I've read where there is a Factory ROM that restores EVERYTHING, and it's flashable from this Trindiag.nbh SPL.

How are you sending the MAC address? With "emapiWlanMac 01 02 03 04 05 06"?

What about the result of rbmc (Read back the memory content from the specified address to the host). Are you able to dump anything else or do you still get an empty file?

You still have the same IMEI, working 3G and bluetooth?

What about the result of rbmc (Read back the memory content from the specified address to the host). Are you able to dump anything else or do you still get an empty file?

You still have the same IMEI, working 3G and bluetooth?

I'm sending the MAC by:
Boot from Trindiag.nbh
Tap Center (Action) Button to start DIAG
Connect USB Cable (USB will show at top white/green band)
Connect MTTY using USB - After it connects successfully, don't type anything
Scroll Down to Write MACAddr and tap Center Action Button
Notice MTTY is now asking for a MAC Address
This is when I type it and get the Signature Error

Using the same method, except Write MBSN, it WORKS! :D I am able to send the Mother Board Serial Number Successfully! But beware, instead of Zero's, it is letter O's.

By Writing the MBSN, it fixed quite a few items in the Diag Device Info Screen, but not the MAC Address. :(

Still no success getting RBMC working within Diag

IMEI, 3G, and Bluetooth work fine still. I can make and recieve calls, etc...

DANG, it's getting Closer!!!!

In MTTY at the DIAG> Command Prompt, I cannot figure out any commands that work. Any Ideas??? I've tried Task Commands, etc.., nothing works yet.

Can somebody with a working phone please do me a favor?

Can you please post the first three octects of your MAC Address? I just want to be sure I am using the correct MAC for my phone. My understanding is that we should all have the same first 3 numbers, and the last 3 are different. Is that correct?

I got my MAC from my Router AFTER the phone died, so I want to be sure I got the correct one. Everything I try to write fails.

So, here's what I recommend others to try. Again, only for the daring...

Boot into the Diag
Run Device Info and see if your MB Serial is OK.
If it's bad, try writing it - Mine wrote fine
then try writing the MAC and see what you get. - This is where mine fails! :(

SO if i want to RUN the DIAG tool what i have to do ? Format my SD and put it in there after that boot into tri-color screen ?

Correct. First octet for HTC should be:

00-09-2D (hex) HTC Corporation
00092D (base 16) HTC Corporation
No 23, Hsin Hua Rd.
Taoyuan City,
330
TAIWAN, REPUBLIC OF CHINA

Don't forget to try inserting the MAC in reverse like it is written in the flash dumps. And with "-" or ":" between.
00:09:2d:ef:e2:48 is a valid mac address for hermes. MAC address 00:09:2d:f1:f2:d3 reports EEPROM signature "50 12 EE 0 2" with "task 32 ff".

Also try with the station id, from HTC:
[W00:00:10:401]WLANMSG: FW Version = Rev 6.0.2.71 Station Id=00-18-41-00-0D-67

00:18:41 HighTechCo # High Tech Computer Corp

You can also try to write it with 0x... like the output of this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3718638&postcount=23

EDIT: To check MAC: First turn on your wireless on the phone: then go to settings->connections->wireless lan->advanced

Yes, exactly

Format your SD to Fat32
Copy TRINDIAG.nbh to the SD Card (FYI it also worked from my 8GB SDHC! Go Figure!).
Boot Into Bootloader Mode
Trindiag will take over and start
On the first Screen, tap your Center (Action) button
This will take you to the MAIN Diag Screen
There will be the option to Write your MACAddr

Don't forget to try inserting the MAC in reverse like it is written in the flash dumps. And with "-" or ":" between.I've tried all different combinations, and forward/backward. It only accepts 12 characters total, so will need to be only 002245688d07, etc...

But everytime I enter my address, I get Wrong Signature error message on MTTY and Phone Screen, and the phone stops responding. I have to reboot it to get into it again. Please see Attachment

How strange! That's exactly what my screen looked like. Different IMEI of course. I wrote the MB Serial number to the phone, and it fixed a couple of things, but still no MAC working. Also, no matter what I try, I cannot write the MAC to the phone. I get "Wrong Signature" on MTTY and "Wlan update NG[0xFFFFFFFF]!" on the phone.

Yes, anyone planning to run this, be sure to backup all your data. As per my post where the file is attached. It WILL Hard Reset your phone.

Maybe this is due to countless flashes we've performed and they changed some parts of the device , maybe all phones (those being flashed with custom ROMS ) will have the same results ? Some one else please could post his/her results here so we can compare

Don't know where supersport got his trindiag. But mine came from http://8g.cn/Search.aspx?Keywords=trinity
I sent a mail to the guys of that chinese site asking them if they could provide us something else for trinity. Like factory test roms or another tool but they didn't reply.
The pdf service manual I don't remember where it came, but I already had it a month ago. Although the pdf didn't mentioned anything about MAC address.

And yes, even if we were able to write the mac address succesfully we still have the original problem that is the erased eeprom from the wlan. trindiag.nbh is too small to contain the eeprom. At least the hermes eeprom comes in a 257kb file and trindiag only has 192kb.

I think you are 100% correct arpcpro, I think we need the Factory Test ROM to fully flash the EEPROM.

I was in a chat session the other night with an HTC Tech, and ALMOST got them to send it to me, but they abruptly dropped out of the conversation. I presume they were caught chatting and cut me off. I was VERY close I think. I'm sure it's just a matter of finding the correct person that is willing to email the file.

Hey Do someone know how can i find the start address of the EEPROM and the wi-fi section exactly with it's length , i'm experimenting here with putty and some commands , i would like to make a backup as described here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=322225
BTW, if you want to do a full backup of you FULL eeprom nand at any time, connect as before and type these commands:

plink HERMES > full.nb (hit ENTER twice)
task 32 (hit ENTER once and only once from now on after every command)
password 0000000000000000
set 1e 1
rbmc me.txt 50000000 7fff800

watch your file grow to 128 MB.

If you ever need to flash the entire eeprom nand, just edit it as above so you take out the commands you typed (HTCS-HTCE) and you're good to go...
i'm wondering if I backup my eeprom nand and then someone else restores it will it work ? or will it work just for men ? any idea ?

If you were able to backup the wlan eeprom somehow I think it would work. At least that is what they do on Hermes to get it working. They read the sectors from a working phone and then write them on the phone without wlan.
I don't know any start-end addresses. But someone on the previous post tried to do that and file always came empty. We think its because it is needed a special developer edition hard spl to be able to read the nand sectors of trinity.

Yesterday I found out some info that might worth some detailed investigation. Sorry if this was already checked but I never heard of it.
On a malaysia forum a guy posted that the cause for the wlan problem could be flashing an older radio version from WM6.0 while on WM6.5.
I contacted him about this hoping to get more information and this was his reply:
This problem was a long long time ago, back when i was experimenting HTC Tytn 2's 6.5 roms. When flashing older radios on 6.5 roms it can screw with your connections.

something to do with some dll or something that comes with the radio that is incompatible with certain rom versions. i cant remember cuz it was so long ago. there is a fix for it i think, if u can get back that dll. rilphone.dll i think. again i cant recall.

if u wanna search for info i think back in those days it was called "radio of death" or something.

What you guys think?
Maybe the ROM cookers know more about this than me, but I have the idea that if it was only a *.dll causing the problem, it would be overwritten when flashing a new rom and the problem fixed. But when I searched for that RILPHONE.DLL I found a post of xda that says that "You may wreck your phone by just copying the dll over the existing one".

Are you able to connect to it with putty? Check my example video:
http://www.fileden.com/files/2009/11/13/2649211/Trinity_eeprom.mp4

If you cannot connect it can be cause sometimes your device will be seen as \\.\WCEUSBSH002 or \\.\WCEUSBSH003, just use which ever it connects to.

I had 23003 build before, then just installed 28014 build rom. Before my WLAN was ok, and after flashing it's still ok. I think that trouble was in 23009 or 23016 build, because after flashing this roms WLAN died.

Thanks a lot arpcpro :) my mistake was that instead of TRIN i wrote Trinity in putty and after that in plink that's why it always said "could not connect to hostname" whatever , i connected it , flashed Olipro's 1.20 tried with it , after that flashed 1.30 and tried with it too, but the result was always the same 285bytes were written every time!
When i opened the created file with a hex editor there was something like this:

See the first picture attached!!!

And something more, in the picture you will see a GetExtRom Data, but we do not have ext rom , are we ?

After that i tried to save the whole info , to make a back-up but without setting the start address and without setting the size! The result was a file 10.1MB big, and unfortunately nothing special inside! Here is a link to it: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=M4T92E1E

Here i attache a second screenshot of the end of that full.nb file viewed in a HexEditor, pay attention to the error!

...but the result was always the same 285bytes were written every time!
That is because the final file TRIN.nb contains the commands you executed in plink (the "set 1 1e" etc). On the hermes thread before flashing they have to remove those first commands from the file. But like in my test your file is empty because it only contains the commands.
And something more, in the picture you will see a GetExtRom Data, but we do not have ext rom , are we ?
I think we have. It is an 11mb section where the operator saves the customizations cabs. That is why on an operator branded ROM, after you hard reset, the customizations cabs that are on ExtROM are installed on the first boot. There is a patch here on xda that unlocks that section and it shows it as another drive in windows explorer so that you can read/write. It's usefull to install on that drive a anti theft application.

After that i tried to save the whole info , to make a back-up but without setting the start address and without setting the size!

The best backup I was able to do was with something like "rbmc c:\temp\os.bin OS". I got a 65mb file.
By the way, if you have a working wlan when you have a chance please try with this command "rbmc.exe storage.bin 0x54DC0000 0xB240000" , and upload us the file. I suspect this is the command to download NAND blocks. I would like to try and flash mine with the nand blocks from a working phone, although I don't fully understood yet what is the relation of these blocks with the wlan eeprom.

I got it from posts of this thread but most of them didn't work, and a few people colaborating in this problem had already tried it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3123900&postcount=19

I think there is nothing unusual on the error of the second pic. I also saw that error when trying random address and sometimes from 00000000 or 0x to FFFFFFFF hoping to backup everything.
Thanks for your testing.

Using the duttys good nbh tool i decompile and compile again for trinity:
HERMES SPL 2.30, 1.04
HERMES Hard-SPL 1.10
from the hermes wlan thread, that are needed to put our device in that condition that allows reading the EEPROM part!

As you may know there is a considerably BIG RISK of bricking your device!!! SO AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

This is a risky operation for you, considering that on previous posts you were unable to make a backup of your sectors. You should try to read them again just in case. If you had been able to backup your sectors, then if storage.bin doesn't work, you can always flash it again with the backup you made. If you wanna test it anyway, install the same radio version (v1.56...) and connect to the device with MTTY (\WCEUSBSH001) and hit ENTER to get a CMD prompt
Now type the following:
task 32
password BsaD5SeoA
set 1e 1
lnb c:\temp\storage.bin 0x54DC0000 0xB240000
Hitting ENTER after each command.
When it's done, close MTTY, reboot your device and verify your Wlan.

I don't want anyone else suffering from a bad lnb if that's the case. I have an ATT Tilt to use if this fails. (Although, I prefer the Trinity. ;))

Write NAND Success!!! Now Rebooting....

Edit: ROM is Dead... Flashing my 23504 SUL now to see if it boots. Olipro 1.30 still available and Flashing is working, so not totally a brick! :D More shortly...

Also, for the record, I lnb'd the storage.bin file as is. Was I supposed to edit it in any way?

OK, lnb of storage.bin sent ok. Phone did not boot after. Olipro 1.30 was still there and operational. Olipro said WLAN Error. I re-flashed my ROM and it booted fine. WLAN STILL DEAD. :(

Now going to try the Hard SPL from TheHunter... :D Wish us luck again. :D

Yuppieeee finally I can use it as VOIP handset again. I'm so happy! :)
I've tested it now and it is working fine. I see the 4 APs in my neighborhood, the web pages load fine and the WLAN keeps draining battery fast like if there was no tomorrow. So it is normal :)

THANK YOU SO MUCH GRUPTNT, I appreciate that a lot and you as well.

An advice for other people using this: I was having a hard time flashing it with putty and mtty 1.42, so I had to use mtty ver1.16.
I didn't know my original MAC address so I used the same as my PC Ethernet card except that I increased one bit (70 to 71) so they are distinct.

So, I take it you can now dump the entire eeprom? Is there a special SPL for this? It would be nice to be able to make a complete backup of the eeprom for future. Would it backup the BT, WiFi, Serials, IMEI, Mac, etc???

Thanks again.

i study this ... but is't so slow and big

I bought a trinity broke, I have got another broken
both are broken lcd (I think short-circuit due to water infiltration)
then I can not see the effects of rom etc etc
I hope to fix them .. least one
one was amended with olipro 1:30 the other is in the original
I made the change from the eeprom and I compared my trinity
Now I want to perfect the eeprom but I have to wait at least one of the trinity to repair broken

start>esegui>cmd
nella finestra dos scrivi il comando ipconfig /all
troverai degli indirizzi (indirizzo fisico) tipo
00-1B-24-13-2E-CF
all'indirizzo 1f850 sostituisci le aa (in formato hex) conil tuo mac address
quindi se hai deciso che il tuo mac è
00-1B-24-13-2E-BF
scriverai

Oh sorry !! I found the mistake by myself: I have installed Olipro 1.20 and with this it won't work. You must install OliPro1.30 from supersport's package.

But, by the way, my WiFi is always unusuable. I take the same entries to setup my home Wifi from my HTC Touch Pro and i didn't get a connection with the trin (Touch Pro works fine). I can't see my local Wifi Network and with a manual install there is only "unavailable". Last Radio-ROM for trin is on the device and the WiFi-LED is blinking green.

I lost my too.

I've generated a random one. All MAC Addresses starts with the vendor id. For HTC this should be 00-09-2D. The other 3 bytes are the device id. Simply take random hex numbers. Remember to reverse it. So you have to enter xx xx xx 2D 09 00 as MAC to the trin100.nb. xx xx xx are the random hex numbers like a2 b6 d1.

How have you managed to create .nb file? You answer will be much apreciated.gruptnt was the one who figured this out. I believe he was able to create a new HardSPL using the Hermes HardSPL and modifying parts to work with the Trinity. I'm not sure exactly what parts, but I know he spent a long time searching it down.

same problem here, tried it on vista and windows 7
anyone knows about it..?Guys, as far as I know, Vista & Windows 7 will not work. I tried it a few times and finally went to XP Mode in Windows 7 Ultimate or a Virtual Machine in Vista. Just be sure you install ActiveSync in your Virtual XP machine and then disable the USB there. Also, when you start your XP mode and connect your phone, you will need to tell XP Mode to use the USB port of your phone. That will take the focus from Windows 7 and give it to XP Mode. Both cannot use the port at the same time. It's in the menus at the top of XP Mode, or in VMWare. On mine, it was called 'Unidentified Device'.

If you are on Vista, you can use VMWare (http://www.vmware.com/products/workstation/) or Windows Virtual PC (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/default.aspx). You will need a copy of XP to install on the Virtual PC.

Please be patient, those of you with Vista or Windows 7 will be good. :D

I investigated a bit more this and it seems I can activate the wifi (the cursor in comm manager turns green) and I can see the wifi icon in top bar.
But my diamond cannot find any wifi networks although I have my router broadcasting the ssid and the signal is strong enough.

Can this also be related to the eprom stuff?

However I can't turn on WLAN afterwards. I tried to turn it on but it just stayed at "OFF". The problem is exactly the same as described here with the Hermes and Trinity.

Hi gruptnt,

I have the same (as cyberbrain425) problem with Kaiser-wifi
and saw already for HERMES a wifi-problem-howto marked as solved.
But i didn't found (yet) such how-to for Kaiser.
Was it successful (to repair) with Kaiser's wlan?

Thanks in advance.

NO, NO , NO !!!:p:p

You must before install HardSPL Olipro 1.30 on your device.
(lnb command is implementated only in this version).

Then , remeber to use MTTy version 1.16 (1.42 version or other versions don't works).

Follow the good "Supersport" Tutorial

Have you tried running sspl-trin.exe on the phone before flashing? Or using sspl-trin.exe and flashing using SD Method?

If you have a 2 GB or smaller SD Card (NON-SDHC), make sure it is formatted as Fat32. Then copy the two files from this attachement to the Root of your SD Card (Unzip first then copy sspl-trin.exe and trinimg.nbh).

With your phone running, go to the file manager on your phone and browse to the sspl-trin.exe file on your SD Card. tap it to run it and accept any question it MIGHT ask. Doesn't always ask. This should throw your phone into a special bootloader mode that will allow Olipro 1.30 to install. Follow the instructions to finish the flash and report back if you still have trouble, or success. ;) After flashing, delete the two files from your SD Card, or at least move them to a subfolder so it does not flash again when you enter bootloader mode. Any NBH file called trinimg.nbh left in the root of SD Card will try to flash when entering bootloader.

Do you know the size of your SD Card? If it's 4MB or larger, then it's possibly SDHC which will prevent SD Flashing from working.

You can run the SSPL-trin.exe from your phone to place you into bootloader mode, then flash from USB Cable as before. Once you are in the special bootloader mode, it should allow Olipro 1.30 to install.

Guys if I'm missing something here, please chime in. I'd hate to be leading visvaram down the wrong path...

PS: I'm in the reply window, so I cannot look back far enough, but I wanted to verify if you are for sure on a P3600, and NOT a P3600i?

PSS: I just created an AutoFlash file of my working Olipro 1.30. Run your sspl-trin.exe on your phone, then connect to usb. Be sure your phone shows USB in the white box on the Bootloader screen. Then run this attachment. It will extract and flash Olipro 1.30. Just follow the directions.

Download AutoFlash Olipro 1.30 (http://www.mediafire.com/?6xwbny57wmaj0di)

That's really strange. That process should work to install HardSPL 1.30.

Copy both files to root of SD Card (sspl-trin.exe and trinimg.nbh).
Insert SD Card into phone.
On phone, browse to sspl-trin.exe and run it.
Bootloader will show for a second, then find Olipro 1.30 and ask to install it Grey Screen with blue lettering, seen below.
Press Power when asked.
Phone should reboot into bootloader and install Olipro.

That should be it. Anybody see me missing something? I'm a little tired, so I might be.

I'm sorry you are having this trouble. I want to get it going for you... :o

did it exactly but stil the wlan didnt work even inside os ...still the same problem on clicking the wlan switch in comm managerThat's strange, because normally, when the WLAN is not working, you cannot even find the Wi-Fi icon inside "Settings/Connections". Do you see Wi-Fi in there? When you tap it, does it go to the 'Search for Networks' page? If it does, I'm wondering if you are having trouble with your Wi-Fi network instead.

You might be able to use putty or mtty to connect to HD2, but you cannot use the same *.nb file we use on trinity to fix the wlan problem. The NB file is part of the wifi card eeprom and HD2 uses a different wifi module.

@ DforDesign (http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=4155703) have you already tried to revert to the official HD2 ROM to confirm that the wifi problem remains?

The eeprom files from this post (for P3600) won't work for a different device with completely different wlan chip.
