Office.cab is included in the rar file. Test to install it to sd-card, or use tool named mobile app mover.

Yes, you do need an USB connector, or you have the device specific data needed to upgrade via SD card.
The connector is described in the Wiki.
Good luck

Check first if the buttons are working by trying them out. If they are working then press and HOLD the REC + CAMERA + RESET button. Do not release them for a few seconds. I had the same problem until I realized the REC button was kind of stiff to press and won't work unless pressed on really hard.

hey fellas, i have installed the os on my imate ppc. but i am not able to browse the instrument, the start button does not have a drop down menu. also when i try to connect to activesync it says sync not possible, reconnect. kindly help this layman. mail to tarunrungta@gmail.com

Pressing on the start menu will bring you to another window with all programs listed. The drop down menu does not happen anymore on this version.

Regarding sync. What version of windows and active sync are you using?

This ROMs are build for HTC Himalaya PH10B.
Hi man, your in the wrong forum, but it is a bit tricky, because of the Andes (called xdaIIi, too) in the forum titel.
Look here, if you're own an Alpine PH10D:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=309183&page=4
Or do you really own a Andes, PH10C, I guess.
Noone in this forum ever saw one, yet, as I think to remember.
Please, can you check Settings System Device Information Identity.
Thanx, Sebastian

Beleeve it or not, it's not bluetooth it is connected directly to the device, and the the best is it is nearly as big as the keyboad of my notebook. It's magic, you have to expand the left and right part outwards and then the middle pard appears from underneath, popps up an then fixes.
I bought one qwerty for 1€ at ebay and then later a german qwertz a little bit more expensive 6€. Thanx, to that chineese guy, who took enough drougs to industrial produce it.

Please, do not try to upgrade other devices than PH10B Himalaya.
If somone has got a PB10C? Andes, you are the lucky guy, post here since nearly noone ever saw one here.
None of the rom here will work on PH10D Alpine, you are in the wrong forum!
You don't know which device you got. Try: Settings/System/Device Information or About/ Identity or somewhere here.
Try to upgrade your device with a wrong rom and you will definitely change it to a brick!!!

Hold them pressed until the "Boot Options" menu appears on the screen.

I've seen a couple of posts pertaining to delayed text messages. I was thinking if this has anything to do with the build? Anyone else experienced this? I know its delayed because:

1. I sent an SMS on my own number and another number in the same network - i had to soft reboot my XDA to receive the message

2. I tried texting my network. The usual less than a minute reply needed a reboot to arrive.

Any inputs from anybody?

I've noted a similar problem but a little worse. Several times I have sent SMS messages and the notification "message sent" appears. However I find out that the recipient never got it. Also they sent me messages that I never received. What I did was to run the Network Manager again and soft reset. I can't explain what happened but that usually fixes the problem.

I am sorry to say but this ROM is a big let down specially on two ocasions when it completely froze and hard reset automatically leaving me with loss of all contacts and other information saved on my phone.

On last occasion I lost 300 contacts but then I started gathering everyone's number again - Last time I backed up was (21052009) and yet today this morning when I swtiched on the phone it was stuck again. Later stage it just hard reset automatically and right now I have lost everything again.

I am restoring from 21st of May 2009. I am really gutted and angry that such a good and very well designed ROM is causing such a big problem.

Since I started using the ROM the two main problems I have faced which in my opinion are worst things to happen to anyone. 1st it gets stuck at random points (checking text or locking the phone).2nd it hard reset itself!!!!!.

I am sorry but I am completely fed up of this ROM and will change back to 6.1 Ather ROM which I was using without any kind of issues.

Sorry Sun_Dream but I cannot bear another hard reset at random point. Hope you understand my frustration.

Maybe I'm wrong, but here's what I think your problem is.

You are supposed to do a full hard reset after flashing a new ROM, which means erasing everything that's on the internal storage. You have to do it the right way, using the camera and record buttons. If you don't do so, you might end up with a terribly unstable device, especially when upgrading from WM6.1 to WM6.5, and that's most likely what happened to you.

This happens because the files that are on this internal storage were created by an older version of the WM Software, and thus won't work with the new version. Upgrading your device while keeping the same files will lead to conflicts, and this is absolutely normal as there is no program included to migrate the old data to the new version.

Each time you flash your device, you should :
- backup all your data (using PPCPimBackup or Activesync)
- go through the flashing process
- do a full reset (Remember, the right way : using the camera and record buttons)
- and finally restore your data (still using PPCPimBackup or Activesync).
This ROM is very stable and well made. I'm almost sure that you won't have problems anymore if you do that full reset I mentioned.

Hope this helps.

Hello

Firstly sorry for not getting back earlier. I have been really busy with work.

No that is not the case because I completely clean the storage device when I installed the ROM. It was purely clean install however for some reason it hardreset on two occasions which made me change back to WM6.1.

The WM6.1 ever since is working superbly no problems whatsoever. I really want to test 6.5 again but then afraid it might hard reset and I most probably will lose the contacts etc again.

I will wait for a new version of the ROM to come out and will try it.

Perhaps it might have happened only with me however I did read some posts talking about it (saying WM6.5 is not stable and some people did experience Hardresets as well).

Anyhow WM6.1 is working superbly fine. :D

Installed this rom late last night and I'm very impressed. Kudos to the man who made this ROM.

I've yet to encounter any problems using this ROM, I will admit it needed a few soft resets to settle in. If you haven't updated your himalaya I can recommend this ROM. I couldn't go back to WM2003 after using this.

One quick question though......is it possible to close the HTC home menu and use the windows interface (titanium is it?)?

Thanks again Sun_dream and the moderators too for breathing new life into my XDA2
