I flash with this method.
Press kamera buton and reset with stylus and power buton ,on display must serial and after paar seconds usb.After this conect usb cable and run from pc update service.
Original instructions: *Extract files from it
*Enter bootloader mode on device (Press POWER + CAMERA + RESET, you will see Serial/USB at top and 1.0X at bottom)
*Connect via USB to PC
*Run Update.exe
*Follow instructions in Update program.
*At the end you should see at device screen: "100% Upgrade OS Image Complete".
*After flashing press reset.

You should have read the instructions of the first page of Cotulla ROM O4. It clearly states there that camera is no longer supported from 04 to 05. You should be very careful to understand what you are doing or you might get in deeper trouble. If you want the camera then use ROM 03.

Really good work. There is very good explained how to install new ROM. I bought S100 with WM 2003( which was verry buggy and didn't work properly) and successfuly upgrade it to Wm 6.1 HTCMAG_ROM_WWE_O2. It's good working ,no slowing or bugs. Do you recomand to put HTCMAG_ROM_WWE_O3 ROM?

P.S. I don't need higher becaouse I want to use camera.

Happy to hear that another successfully upgrade to a higher ROM from actual WM 2003...

I also have a O2 xdaII mini but I'm not in the hurry of upgrade to 6.1 or 6.5 because I'm using HTC Touch Diamond2 with 6.5.

Also the "Main Reason" why I still keep this O2 xdaII mini is : ALBUM Player!

Do you know that there are "No More" such ALBUM Player in the new HTC devices ?

No other "3rd Party" Player or even for Desktop PC able to Zoom-In while watching Video...

We have to pray hard that our Super Hero_Mr.Cotulla able to HELP to extract this ALBUM or
Rebuild this ALBUM and make it as a Stand-Alone application, just only need to install for ALL HTC devices.

First I want to say hi to all of you.

Two days ago I got a Xda mini/qtek s100 as a gift from a friend. He wanted to use it but since it was in german, he just gave it to me. I searched the internet for how to change language and found many differen sites. Before I even found this thread I stopped by this site HERE (http://www.pdagold.com/articles/detail.asp?a=246#Compact) I saw found this explanation very easy and then went searching for ROM packages, which led to the me stumbling upon this thread.
I followed the instruction on the site mentioned above and clicked MaUpgradeUt_noID Everything went as described until I reaced the error sign(as explained in the website above) MY error was different. I then choosed to follow Cotullas instructions but it didn't go well. When I am to upgrade it says;
From: (nothing here it is totally blank)

To: (nothing here it is totally blank)

If needed I can post screenshots if it will clarify the situation. I am afraid that I messed it all up, after ONE day!!
Please help anyone! I have never been in contact with flashing, roms or even pocket pc so I would be very glad if people took this to consideration when explaining!

When I press the power button a little long time, the phone is turned off.
But when I press the power button again to power on the device, it shows that "System halt"...
Then only soft reset can wake it up.

fsclub, it's normal. long power button press designed for "FullOff" feature. So you can turn off your device fully.

Yes, you can see this message "System halt" after on... do reset and it will boots as usual :)

I can't belive that some of you have flashed your HTC without carefuly reading the description. Cotulla( I won't say ms because I belive he's still youg or he feels young ) So he said:

No camera in ROM. And no way to use camera at all.

And don't ask me why he did that, we just hope that he'll see this and that he will do something about this because magician's users want to use camera.

So my opinion is that better it be that Cotulla be focused on adjustment Windows Mobile 6.5 for 64MB device( most of us use this one) and there he can include Camera features. And just don't say WM 6.5 doesn't support 64MB devices because it can be modified and some people have already done that but me and I belive most of you want to use something stable from Cotulla of course.

i just realize we can play tetris if we push reset button and soon after that press camera + power button at the same time and you will have "Press Enter To Start". and then press the middle button ( You can Play TETRIS)
..i wonder if there's any hidden feature??

Dear, to whom can help.

The following problem occurs:

before plugging in the cable you need to have to phone syncd, when normaly connected the phone syncs fine, but when in bootmode it doesn't, surprise surprise when trying to flash it says its 'checking information on device' but offcourse nothing happens, using windows 7 32 and 64 no luck, tried diffrent wwe's. Any toughts? gonna try on xp this afternoon, have a xp lap somewhere :P)

p.s. its an orange m500 with 1.00 bootloader, haven't used this phone for almost 4 years, if it becomes a paperweight .. no sweat, allready had that function.

Does anyone have a problem with the bluetooth in 3.06 rom? My device only can detect and be detected, but the status always in the disconected row. When I downgrade it to wm 6.1 (I forgot what rom), it work perfectly. Anyway, thanks to Cotulla for the great rom.

I own a Qtek S100 which mounts the ROM I-Mate Jam ITA 1:12:04 and 1:12:10 RADIO.
I turn to Cotulla, or who can help me in the upgrade to the version of Cotulla HTCMAG_ROM_WWE_O3.
Was specified by Cotulla that we should have the radio version 1.12, this means that my version 1:12:10 it's no good?

i've try to add USSD registry key at hkey local machine-service
just like i found in the original ROM
and copy some USSD_DLL.DLL file also from the original ROM

Finally I did it myself!!!
I installed the ROM Cotulla :) :) :) HTCMAG_ROM_WWE_O3
(that Thank you very very much)
Goes to great, it is faster, more cool, ... BUT ... when I close it, or simply press reset, back to the "Boot menu" with its seven options, and only by working hard reset returns functionally, but i have to reconfigure everything from zero!!! Instead pressing "Continue" it returns in continuous to the "Boot menu" itself.
You have already encountered this problem?
Could be a problem with the battery backup?
But this did not happen with WM2003.
I really do not know who invented to solve it, except keep on forever, without ever moving the battery, which I consider a bit extreme and difficult.

Cotulla hello thank you so much for the fantastic job you did with the ROM for the Magician.
I installed the version HTCMAG_ROM_WWE_O3 on my Qtek S100 and it is fantastic, also the great tool to overclock the CPU :)
I just do not understand this: when I reset, it is in "Boot menu" and if I press "1. Continue" returns to the "Boot menu"

The only way to use it again is to do "2. Hard reset" but of course so I lose all data, programs, etc and start fresh.
What I did not understand, or better yet, what can I do to prevent this?

I have got nearly the same problem as you. My magician (qtek S110) sometimes just does some sound like clack! (its really silent but i heard it once) and then it wont wake up. The only thing i can do is to long press the pwr button and it hard resets then. It mostly happens when my battery is below 40%. If i try the rst button or pulling off the battery nothing happens, except that i cant even hard reset it anymore. I can only go home and put it on charger, then it hard resets (omg), and boots up. It rarely happens when its "on" - in my hands, but mostly happens when its off / in sleep mode - in my pocket.
Can some1 help me?

Hi ggmaniack.

I too happen to my qtek s100 when he was still WM2003 (even if it was the rom of an i-mate JAM) to shut down suddenly for no reason and self-reset, then I realized the problem was the fault of the battery.
It was not an original battery but a second battery of poor quality that apparently was loaded, but in reality does not load, not completely.
Stop using it and using the original is no longer happened!

However the problem I described in my previous message to your had no other explanation that I gave Cotulla same: I have a problem with the hardware button on my camera!
That button is necessary to enter bootloader mode before installing the new rom.
Today I have completely disassembled my qtek s100 and I made a shocking discovery: the camera key is physically absent!
Not the key rubber exterior, but just the key that should be paid to four soldering points on the board of my qtek.
In its place, but there is a vacuum, is absurd, and I have not found the frets in the same qtek.
As the person who gave it to me in turn bought it second-hand several years ago is possible that this damage is very old!
I'm thinking of frets that derive from some old phone that I find myself or some of the PlayStation joypad, I'll let you know how it went as quickly as possible, even if those points of welding to do are very tiny ...

What was the previous ROM before you upgraded? You can install Cotulla's ROM only over Radio 1.12.xx. What you can do is re install original 2003SE ROM with radio 1.12 then install again Cotulla's ROM. This will not work with other radio versions.

I've upgrade my O2 xda ii mini from WM2003 to Cottula's WM6.5
In Cottula's installation guide, I saw a line said that I have to upgrade radio to 1.12 or 3.00+
I've upgrade it to 1.13

And now, after I install WM6.5, everythings works OK except for one thing:

Whenever my battery drop down below 60%, it will display no signal at all, and no services...

And I don't know why, now, even the battery indicator gone mad... Always 0%, charging, even when the phone running smooth...

I cannot go back to radio 1.12... And I can't find a radio 3.00+??? What's that?

So who is the BIG magician here?

Also I think HTC engineers can learn a lot of your selfmade device drivers you developed during this period for magician and other htc phones. The excel in low energy cosumption and robustness.

I have an imate JAM black (AKA HTC Magician), and after the ROM up-gradation, the camera isn't working :( . I got a camera installer cab, and installed it, but it is saying that " The file 'camera' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file".. All the shortcut keys have been changed....... What does these means? :confused: . Is there any fix for this? or is it possible to run programs designed for previous version of windows (like compatibility mode).. Even i can't roll back to my old ROM or i cant reinstall my old WM2003 SE ROM... Any help?? :(

Ican't install no one of that roms, because it's says that this roms isn't supported by language. But when i go to devise information i find that my ROM version is 1.12.00 WWE . Any ideas how install these roms? :(
And only default rom that I can downupgrade is MDA compact_TMDE_11301_129_11200_Ship.exe only this. And not English. Can someone help me?

When it freezes wait until you will see error do not disconnect. And try to re-download that rom and try again

eg. 21042/21884/21905.

That is true, I install WWE O3 and battery is starting to work ok again, it is starting I mean it is charging 100% discharge in one day to 40% then it remain to 0% for 5 days. I think with next charge cycle it will be all ok.

Hello Mr cotulla. I Have used your rom and Its radical. So I now Have a problem that My charging port was malfunctionng. Once My battery was too low and I tried updating my files by one of your new roms. While updating the battery ran dry and the phone switched off. After that the charging port completely blew up and now im stuck. I can recharge the battery by external charger and use but cant update my rom. when I press power+camera+reset and connect via usb, It says device not recognised onthe callout of the system tray usb icon. I even got the old port desoldered and resoldered a new one and still ended up with the same problem. so please mr cotulla I really need a rom to my pda. I need to boot Via SD card. I dont know How to do it. I have na XDA atom too. but with the same problem. But I can Install the rom and extended rom to my XDA atom but not the radio(Via SD Card). Please mr cotulla I atleast need the file that goes to the sd card and the name of the file, the download link etc. Atleast mail me the link by uploading to any place. :(:(:(Pleeeeeezzzzzz Mr cotulla. I Beg of you.

I've just tried to flash my i-mate jam (1.12.10, vista on pc) with WWE O5,
I've managed to enter bootloader (it showed me USB and v1.02 in the bottom), launched Update.exe and folowed the instructions:
The first one, i think, was to soft-restart the phone.
I did that.
Then it showed me the window which was saying smth like you are prepared to upgrade your 1.12 1.12.10 to 3 something.

After a while, id showed the connection error, althought i didn't disconnect the phone.

Now my phone is stuck in bootloader, if the phone disconnected from pc - it's saying SERIAL on top, if connected - USB, but there is no way how to exit this bootloaer and return to usual start. I've tried soft-reset, hard-reset, battery out, bootloader shortkeys - nothing :((((((((((

Please, somebody help me - im not sure what to do and i couldn't find any info in the net with that.

from the bootloader you can still flash roms, so I think that you should be trying again, maybe use a different rom.

You can use CeRegEditor to config registry of your PPC.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-->Software-->CotullaCode-->MISCDRV] find the key "ScreenOffincall" change it to 0.

WM7 is not possible on alot of more powerful phones, yet alone the Magician. I`m hoping for 6.5.3 or .5 :P

i installed the rom WWE 5 using the proper instructions
it boots up ok and eveything, very nice interface.
when i get a call the screen goes off, then the phone either freezes or i lose signal completly, i soft reset and it freezes at boot, i hard reset it freezes at boot, take the battery out 10 mins then boot again, sucess!, try to start an application freezes, have to do above steps to get it going again.
very unstable rom for me :( a shame because it looks like the nicest interface i have seen yet :(

Also, as it works when i press the cable hard to the pda, i tried to update. The cable went off in the beginning of the process. I feared i bricked it, but i still can load my WM2003SE. However, when i try to update again, it says:

You need to use windows xp

My phone is Xda II mini Starmap mobile alliance. I installed your upgrade for HTC Magician (64 RAM), and it worked like a charm, but with these adnotations:

Never got to enter the bootloader with POWER+CAMERA+RESET. But I found in your arhive a program EnterBL.exe. I copied all the arhive to the SDcard, and then run EnterBL.exe, after that run Update.exe from the WinXP PC. It worked fine, the Update.exe stopped reponding, but the 100% complete appeared on the phone.

I've tested only base functionality. Phone works, no camera.

I've flashed my O2 XDA II Mini to radio 1.2 and I've installed HTCMAG_ROM_CHS_O3 successfully but everything is being displayed in Chinese. When I try and change the language to English in Regional Settings, it still stays as Chinese. Any ideas why?

I can't belive that some of you have flashed your HTC without carefuly reading the description. Cotulla( I won't say ms because I belive he's still youg or he feels young ) So he said:

So my opinion is that better it be that Cotulla be focused on adjustment Windows Mobile 6.5 for 64MB device( most of us use this one) and there he can include Camera features. I couldn't have agreed more, and for those who are waiting for Cotulla's new rom for magician (including me) will need to be patience because I think Cotulla might be busying lately in making WM7 for Leo - in turn making Leo the first machine to run all 3 OSes for mobile.

I myself still use my good old magician as my only phone (and pda) and am satisfied with all the goodies brought by wm6.5 (if you are just into shells, there are a lot of good shells from wm6.5 that are installable to magician phones - including M2D and SPB Mobile Shell (3.5 tested OK and 5.0 is coming soon). You can even use wm6.1 with the above shell apps maintaining your camera (HTCMAG_ROM_WWE_O3 is wm6.1).

many available rechargeable button cell, it can be replaced easily. I myself having this old unit, had undergone replacement of internal battery and replaced the old small speaker with a 1.25 inch laptop speakers for louder sounds. Done this to accommodate the additional audio boost apps...

I have flashed HTCMAG_ROM_WWE_O5 into my Vodafone Mini couple of days ago and it works great (Thanks a lot Cotulla). Feels faster and more responsive than original WM2003. Only one annoying thing. I'm used to wake phone by simply pressing one of function buttons - for instance phone button - it is phone after all :). But it seems like now only power button and call can wake it up. In original ROM button settings applet had "Lock" tab which allowed to change that behavior. But this tab is gone now. I checked one of previous Cotulla ROMs (I believe it was *_O2) and it has that tab. But *_O5 is much better. Does anybody know how to tune this behavior in *_O5? Or maybe somebody has original applet for button settings? Or knows the way to extract it from original ROM backup? Or any registry keys to tweak? Any help is highly appreciated.

Here in the office we're playing with an old HTC Magician which we're going to use for some data gathering. As a lark we decided to upgrade using one of your ROMS.

In fact I chose the latest available one: HTCMAG_ROM_CHS_O3

The ROM appears to be in Korean or Japanese.

I've been hunting around and I can't seem to find the setting to put it into English.

You have to go to start - > settings - > connections - > beam, and make sure you check the column receive all incoming beams
