Hi everyone,

Just a quick question, and I have tried searching...

I'm looking at upgrading my Tom tom v6 to v7 and buying new maps. The main reason I am doing this is because my maps are really out of date now, im finding lots of roads that don't exist, and extra turnings on roundabouts.

Does V7 with 8.25 maps work with mapshare?

This is a great feature, so hope us Pda users can take advantage.

Thanks,

Rob

Using an 825 map right now and with Tomtom Home2 I can use the mapshare function :) So the answer is: yes ;)

Great, thanks for the advice Cryonic. Sounds like I will have some new settings to play with then... :)

Quick search tells me that 825.2159 is also the latest map for USA and Canada ;)

Anyone know why western and centrel europe 825.2159 is only a gig in size but the older number 825.2158 is nearly 2 gig but the later is supposed to be newer

This thread is all going to get people sore I suspect

I suggest you look on alternative forums for information on TT version 8.x maps....
However the reason the 8.25(2159) W&CE map is smaller than the 8.25(2158) version is due to the extra information the 2158 version contains. The actual map content is the same however some additional information in some maps is not required by some TT versions (not just the Windows Mobile version, but the 'real' TT PNA's as well). Some maps contain IQ routing information as well as Advanced Lane Guidance neither of which is supported by some TT versions such as the Windows Mobile versions. Therefore this information is stripped out of the map you would buy for your PDA (should it actually be available for a Kaiser, which it isn't.....).

Hopefully that reply doesn't cross the line? but if it does moderate it as you feel appropriate.

Yes so have many people, however it can't be running legally on a Kaiser - neither the application, nor the map as TomTom Navigator 7 for Windows Mobile is not commercially available. It is only available pre-installed on three HTC devices (up to now) - the Touch Diamond, Touch Pro and IOLite, and even then it is only in certain providers official ROMs. Users of these and ONLY these official devices can purchase and download official 8.x maps.
If you have it running on your Kaiser you didn't pay TomTom for it......

well it is not supposed to be available for the kaiser. Unfortunately, TomTom considers this illegal use of software.
