Hello,

I have a HTC Touch 3G which an emplyee needs to use as a pda only. So, he won't be using it as a phone. The pda synchronizes mail and calender items by air (MS Exchange direct push). Does anybody know how I can disable the phone function. Or how I can delete/hide the text Phone in the display in the menu bar at the bottom left on the display.

Thanks!

Thanks for your reply. I cannot remove the sim card because the phone needs to synchronize email and calender items using microsoft exchange direct push. The phone is only used as a pda which synchronizes these items over the air. The user may not make phonecalls with it.

I turnedthe phone off in Comm manager,
However, the text Phone is still displayed iin the left corner at the bottom of the main screen, or home screen however you call it. When I click it it says "the phone is switched off, would you like to turn it on?". So the user is still able to use it.

If that is the case, then ask your operator to place a barr on outgoing calls (not including data of course). You could do this on your phone but is easily reversable.

Doesn't help the OP but i know this is very easy to do on a BlackBerry attached to an Enterprise Server. A policy can be sent which disables the phone function but leaves everything else running.
