Sorry to sound snippy but have you actually tested this on an Alpine? There is no way i am bricking mine.

Do you know that,Magician has the similar hardware with alpine,and it could not upgrade to WM6.1, but now ,someone has build a rom for Magician with kernel 5.2(Wince 5.2),so he might can build a rom for alpine too!!!
and the rom with kernel 5.2 for Magician has been proved to be true!
so the rom for alpine maybe come soon.

well...since it's possible for magician it's possible for alpine too.
And if it's true that alpine and magician have similar hardware the
wm6 on alpine could become true with a simple port of magician's wm6.1 rom?

The processor is the same :p though it has lower clock frequens on the magician ;)

I think that we should ask from Cotulla(magician wm6.1 developer) to develop a wm 6 rom for alpine. And even donate money to him to do it. Anyone could give (for example) 5 or 10 euros to update his alpine.
