Just took a test drive with map for Germany and German voice, no noticeable lag. GPS fix was really fast, and portrait and landscape modes indeed run smooth. Only "complaint" I would have that German voice is not a native speaker, so "Anna" sounds a little bit...well, like a Portuguese girl... :-) Great selection of available maps, including more exotic (from a German view) countries like from Asia and Africa. Western Europe map collection has 2.7G, so should provide nice detail for some metro cities.

Software looks good so not having a go at that but I run the HD version copilot 7 and that also works fine in landscape without altering files, just doesn't have auto rotation built in.

I'm using the Ndrive V 3.4.19 Real Navigation (updated yesterday), and just for Portugal I need 7Gb for the imaging

Love the software, stopped using IGO8 and TomTom , but I do get tiny bit of Lag, ( does not compromise driving), not Ndrive fault, It's and HTC HD characteristic:p

Which zipped voices do you have in ndrive\voices ? Because choosing a voice also seems to install the language.

originally during instalation i only had maryen, then i added all other voices, which i can see if i go (bindly) to the language settings and i can choose any other language but the fonts dont change

Eriol, my ndrive.ini has the same settings, but they do not seem to matter - program shows my GPS in HD on port 4. Have attached my untouched ini, maybe it will help you. Just had to change .ini to .txt, so I could attach it. Change back to .ini

NDrive 3D est disponible en téléchargement sur le site officiel (http://www.ndriveweb.com/products/ndrive-phone/) pour la modique somme de 40 € pour la version France après inscription sur le site,l'application étant gratuite après paiement de la carte du pays concerné . Le mail envoyé contient donc les 2 liens de téléchargement ainsi que la clé pour débloquer le logiciel .

NDrive Agent se télécharge également gratuitement sur le site,ce logiciel PC sorte d'ActiveSync pour le logiciel de navigation permet de synchroniser le pda pour des éventuelles mises à jour .L'éditeur fourni également une base de données radar disponible aussi en téléchargement via NDrive Agent pour la carte du pays concerné .

Toutefois il est possible via l'application que nos amis de XDA ont mis en ligne suite à l'ouverture de mon post,d'utiliser un logiciel PC pour convertir sa propre base de données radar . Egalement disponible,l'équivalent pour convertir ses propres POI . Les 2 logiciels XDA se trouvent en pièces jointes .



Ajouts des radars et des POI :

Comme décrit ci-dessus utilisez les applications suivantes :

La manip est trés simple,il suffit de copier vos radars ou bien vos poi dans le dossier PDI des logiciels respectifs puis de lancer la conversion . A noter que pour les poi persos,le nom du poi ainsi que l'image ( au format png ) devront porter le même nom . Les radars se mettront ensuite dans le dossier speedcams du logiciel et les poi dans le dossier favorites . Ne pas oublier ensuite de les importer via le menu configuration du logiciel de navigation pour les intégrer à la base de donnée du logiciel de navigation ( voir image 8 , importation / exportation de données ) .



Test sur route :

Le logiciel étant compatible avec une multitude de pda ( y compris le HD ;D ) il n'y a aucun bidouillage quelconque pour le fonctionnement . Celui fonctionne aussi bien en mode portrait qu'en mode paysage ( possibilité d'utiliser la rotation d'écran ou un logiciel du style Gyrator ou similaire ) .

Mes premières impressions sont plutôt bonnes , un fix gps quasi instantané dès le démarrage du logiciel,la navigation est fluide ( 3D absent chez moi , petite ville oblige ;D ) , la voix féminine est très claire et le son est fort ( réglé sur 4 d'origine ) . La voix n'est pas TTS mais comme d'autres logiciels concurrents elle vous mènera à bon port . Sur la route la navigation est fluide,aucun ralentissement ou bug constatés . J'aime bien l'affichage de la vitesse ainsi que le défilement du nom des rues en bas de l'écran . L'affichage des changements de direction se font un peu comme sur iGO8 . Un point positif aussi , c'est la possibilité de classer ses propres poi en plusieurs catégories . Bien entendu des poi d'origine un peu comme Tomtom sont fournis avec le logiciel . Il est possible également d'avoir une alerte sonore pour le dépassement de vitesse . Je regrette l'absence d'alerte vocale personnalisable ( celle d'origine comme "attention radar caché, réduisez votre vitesse" ) est un peu longue, en espérant que cela soit modifiable dans une prochaine version ...


Conclusion :

Même si son utilisation reste très basique,aucune customisation n'est possible,Ndrive reste un bon logiciel de navigation pour ceux et celles qui cherchent la simplicité à un prix abordable ...

I explain it but in french in my post above so :

For speedcams :

- put ov2 files in PDI folder
- start the software
- put the files in the correct folder with the arrow
- click on "create database"
- the kml file is created in cams folder

For Poi :

- put ov2 files in PDI folder
- start the software
- double click onto the poi file to move it in the poi inserted folder
- click on "create database"
- the kml file is created in cams folder

put csv (or asc or ov2) files into my program \pdi subfolder, then execute program....
move from right side to left one the pois you want compile.....
compile and finally have or unique kml file (speedcams!) or more kml files.
if speedcams, it goes on ppc into storage card, in subfolder
ndrive\speedcams

if pois they go into storage card , into
ndrive\favorites folder,
with they go also all images (same name of poi.kml and same directory, and they must be .png images)
run ndrive on ppc.....
select import/export data
(import allerts or import favorites),
when you are at 100% importing you 'll be able to see
new speedcams (only on map)
and
new favorites on favorites menu!

When I switch my HD to landscape Ndrive doesn´t move, but if I switch it again to portrait it starts moving again. I also tried Gyrator 2 and the result is the same. Please, can someone that says the software works great in landscape post here the ndrive.ini file to compare with mine?

if inside pdi\ folder there are pois and images (bmp) i.e.:
test.asc and test.bmp are present, the program convert bmp file into .png image and move it into cams\ folder, so you'll have all ready: kml file and relative .png image ;)

as far as i understand you would also have to buy the "3D Photo Maps on a 8GB SDHC card"

I think if your country does not have 3d photo maps available you just get 3d landmarks on the ordinary maps. If you go into the city you may find them maybe.

The version that came with my tmn hd didn't work in landscape, and i send an email to ndrive asking when they expect to have a new version that work in landscape and they didn't know, i don't like their suport, they took about 3 weeks to answer my email. If they have a solution for landscape i will buy, i have a 3 month version.
In that time i tried with all app gyrator, gsen and change screen, but no sucess, in landscape navigation freeze a lot.
Is there a new version that works in landscape in hd?
Which rotation software to use?

But I stick with TT and iGo, NDrive is just too basic and unflexible. I dont need nice pictures of what I can see outside, I need precision and flexibility in parameters to achieve the perfect route.

When you go round a roundabout you can see the navigation arrow going round with you and you come out of the roundabout and the next instruction is there waiting for you within seconds. I've never seen that precision on my Touch HD using navigation software. That's how TT6 used to be on my Polaris.

With TT7 and Touch HD if you go round a roundabout when you leave the roundabout it will take 10-20 seconds to catch up with your position and give you the next instruction.

multiselect option, and right click to move all selected to left list.....
if inside pdi\ folder there are pois and images (bmp) i.e.:
test.asc and test.bmp are present, the program convert bmp file into .png image and move it into cams\ folder, so you'll have all ready: kml file and relative .png image ;)

Yes, I know, but don't know the specifics on the csv records, and better use kml, you can also see all of them into google earth ;)
P.S.: if you know the csv specifics, I can modify program to create kml/csv files !!!

Hello,just a little bug during driving,the speed limit seems to be the same for all maps . For me the speed indicate 80 km/h ( in France is 90 ) and 120 km/h on motorway ( 130 km/h in France ) . I think the settings are only for portuguese people ...

You can delete a past that has the realview pictures and after that, NDRIVE only has about 1gb for Portugal maps.
And the program still works (only with the map view and not the real pictures, of course).

I create my speedcam kml and png files with the program of ervius and it works greate..

But after in ndrive I imported the files one by one but at the end I'm not able to see the speedcam on the map and don't have any notification...

I putted the kml into speedcams folders and the png into favorites

Somebody have an idea

you have to load "alerts" database into....
you can:
edit records; add records manually; delete records, delete all records and imports speedcams from ".asc" and ".csv" files

the updated alerts database is stored into \cams subfoder, while speedcams files have to be stored into \pdi subfolder...

yesterday i've found a website with the software + many many maps for Ndrive. Its "free" and you can download it there. You only have to register there, but thats a little thingy which will consume 2min of your time :)

The Website is in German, but the Forum registration is equal to any other forum, so u wont have any problems. After that u can see the Text from the first Posting and can start downloading it.

I've tried it yesterday, like i said, and its cool. Yeah, no Photomap, but the normal map, and it works very fast and i like it more that Igo.

new version of pois and speedcams importer for Ndrive, only have to inser itno pdi\ subfolder all ov2 (asc and also csv) you want, also the relative bmp images for pois, open program, select your preferred pois (speedcams) and create databases, at end you'll have all kml and all images translated to ".png", ready to be imported by Ndrive (favorites for pois, alerts for speedcams!!!)

The software works like a charm, but I never was able to make the speedcam feature work in Ndrive. Neither display the icons of the speedcams at their location, nor fire an alarm when approaching one. That's sad, because that's really the only thing that keeps me from throwing Tomtom and iGO to the recycle bin.

So if anybody could explain how to do that, that would really help a lot. For info, I'm looking specifically to activate the feature in Belgium, Spain and France.

Hoje são cerca de 250 até final do ano deverão passar a 500 ou 600.



A edição 2009 do software de navegação da NDrive faz também uma piscadela de olho aos aventureiros, com a introdução de um modo aventura. Quando configura o seu sistema para o modo aventura o utilizador fica com uma ferramenta de navegação para actividades fora da estrada. Neste modo não há outra informação pré-carregada, para além daquela que também está disponível no modo normal, o utilizador pode é descarregar da Internet para o sistema de navegação (do Google Maps, por exemplo) diferentes tipos de anotações que podem ajudá-lo a orientar-se em caminhadas, passeios de BTT, passeios de barco ou mesmo durante a pilotagem de uma aeronave.

Finalmente, destaque para um incentivo à partilha de informação no âmbito da comunidade de utilizadores NDrive. As versões anteriores do software já permitiam que o utilizador fosse mapeando restaurantes, bares ou qualquer grupo de locais de interesse nos seus favoritos. Na nova versão pode partilhar essa informação com outros. Após esse período, qualquer utilizador da nova versão terá também acesso à informação dinâmica de trânsito de forma gratuita.

A V9 chegará progressivamente aos vários mercados onde a NDrive está. No caso do trânsito a aplicação estará disponível sempre que existam parcerias com entidades responsáveis pela gestão de câmaras que monitorizem o tráfego. Existem algumas outras funcionalidades que podem ter acesso limitado, quer noutros mercados, quer em Portugal, mas pelo tipo de dispositivo usado para usufruir do serviço, nos casos em que exista conectividade. Por exemplo, a opção comunidades tem uso limitado nos dispositivos de navegação simples só podendo ser usada em pleno com a ajuda de um PC.

Actualizar uma versão antiga do software de navegação NDrive para a nova versão vai custar 20 euros. A compra de uma nova licença custará 40 euros.

I have read all the pages but did not find the answer. I have 3.4.19 installed on Diamond HD. Program runs and gets the GPS lock fine. But when I put any map from Canada or US, the program gets stuck on initial screen. At the bottom for a few seconds it says Loading Maps... and then it just shuts down. If I remove all the maps from maps folder, program works fine.

You can disable stretching in NDrive.ini

Please!, could somebody guide me step by step through the installation process?

I've downloaded the complete western europe map, and have installed the ndrive agent on my pc. Then ive copied all the maps via the option "active sync" in the map agent on to Touch HD (is that right?, cause i've vista...).

And now? - when I click "open" on the agent, he says "no device found, please try again"...when i look under programs in my winmo menu, there is no entry for ndrive, even all the maps are at my storage card...what do I have to do:confused::(

I tried version 3.4.19, unfortunately it has made several serious navigation errors. TT7 and IGO8 didn't make these errors taking the same route. Perhaps it is the area that I live, but route errors are a no no. The refresh rate is good, but available options are few in comparison to the other nav apps. Maybe in the next version it will be improved....
I'm afraid IGO8 with smooth 3D graphics is still the king in my book.

Anyone has experienced importing Destinator 6, 7 or 8 versions of their radar/POIs files to Ndrive? And successfully? All Destinator files are DAT files which Ervius tool does not import.

How's that? Any idea?

Lastest version works really fine in Brazil. No problema faced at all. :D

Bought the europmap version online yesterday and tried to install it, but I must have missed something?
Installed first: NDrive_app.exe to my HD, then NDrive_Europ.map.exe, but got the message_ The installation volume does not have enough memory
Free: 2671Mb Required: 2777 Mg
I've a new 16G memory card.
What went wrong:confused:
Open the ...Map.exe with winrar and just copy the maps you need manually into NDrive/maps folder

I tried to uninstall NDrive. The HD said the uninstall was successful but all the files were still there. I had to delete everything manually, including some entries in the registry. I hope this doesn't happen to everyone, if so, that is a bad bug.

Ok, I made one step forward ..
I find your aplication on another forum .. I've got now Ndrive-Pois-importer.exe 1.1 with only "Poi inserted" and "Poi to insert" window.

tell me now how it use to made SpeedCam working file ;)

Is it necessary to add a .png file to made SpeedCam file ?. Or we use .png olny for POI's like Hospital, Hotels, Gas Station etc.. ?

Ok, now I see Ndrive-Pois-importer.exe 1.1 is only to POI's not to SpeedCams :(.

I'v got also Ndrive-speedcams-importer.exe.

Ok I find something like this :

the converter works with files. ov2 or. cvs
start to convert Ndrive-speedcams-importer.exe after having put the file. ov2
or. cvs in a subfolder of Ndrive pdi-speedcams-importer
click on create database and automatically creates a file. kml folder
cams which will then copy the folder: E: / NDrive / speedcams mobile.
start the browser, menu - configuration - data import export - import alert
and click on file. kml file which will install automatically.

It seems to be very easy ! .. very ..
But It doesn't work

P.S Its quite funny .. a made qestions and I answer my self :P

Have purchased GB map, downloaded ndrive_app.exe and put onto my Touch HD, but no map. Software version is v3.4.23(825)DI. Have raised a support query with customer support last Thursday and again today, still waiting for link to download the GB map.

Any one else have similar problem?

I'm using NDrive ver. 3.5.24 (854) DI with the Greek maps.

It runs smooth on my HD and the overall size of maps for Greece is close to 4 Gigs.

It's an amazing software and the maps is an eye catcher.

I have to tell you that it came along with the HD in the package.

I´ve bought my Touch HD in Portugal so pre-installed with the Navigation System. Now i´ve seen something about landscape functionality... But how i can rotate the screen in NDrive programm? Autorotation doesn´t work... Does it work only with gyrator or changescreen?

I've been using NDrive for a few days now. Map installation procedure wasn't smooth, it interrupted in the middle but I found the temporary ZIP file with the maps in the Documents and Settings folder during install, so that I've finally managed.

For the rest, ultrafast, good GPS recognition and excellent route calculation, POI's are excellent, ease of use, nice feel, nice look, all in all better than the Garmin software I've been using before. Also better than the TomTom navigator, which once told me "Turn around wherever possible" on a highway ... Hopefully, NDrive will include real navigation in future versions, as this is quite handy for pedestrial mode.

sorry guys but i've had nothing but trouble with this application.. this whole thread seems like an advert to me (yeah i fell for it) but maybe i'm being cynical..
i had a recent trip to eastern europe so purchased the eastern europe map.. i tried to activate the program when i reached hungary but it steadfastly refused to work.. also it left my gps running.. i didn't find out until the battery ran out in the middle of nowhere (ukraine):rolleyes:
i reinstalled the uk map and it came back on but i couldn't get a signal even though the settings were ok (stock htc rom btw).. so i ran the update and got the 'bad image file ' message like the previous poster.. (so you aren't alone mate)
i've emailed them a couple of times.. i wait with baited breath.. can't help thinking i should have bought a stand alone unit.. shame tom tom only works on poxy 2 gig ram sticks (i emailed them about this)..
i'll let you know how i get on.. the tech support seems a bit flakey:mad:

ok guys.. finally got a reply 8.9.09.. 5 days not too bad i suppose.. marked high priority.. perhaps they saw this post:p
can confirm all working well now.. here are the instructions they sent.. i've edited out the links as the files may be copyright.. but if you have them already then they are the same as the ones on the website.. also i've made minor edits to make it simpler to follow (in <> brackets)

The best solution for your case would be to perform a manual installation of the Ndrive software and respective maps we provide from the links below.


Before installing the Ndrive application, please go to Start > Settings > System tab <in activesync> and select Remove Programs. Click on NDrive for Windows Mobile and then remove button.<remember the 'uncheck' box removes in activesync.. counterintuitive but hey> After that, perform a new installation from the links provided below.


NDrive Software for Pocket Pc: ..ppc_3.5.26.zip




1º Download the NDrive software to your computer;
2º Connect your GPS <mobile>to the computer through the USB cable, activesync will find the equipment;
3º Go to activesync, and click "Explore". Access "My windows mobile based device" and access "Storage Card";
4º Open the zipped file you have downloaded and extract the 2577 and NDrive folders to the "Storage Card";
5º Wait until the files have been copied to your device;
6º Disconnect the USB cable. The NDrive installation shall begin. If not, go to the 2577 folder and click on "autorun";<i had to do the second option>
7º After the NDrive software is installed, install the maps provided below:

<whatever your maps are..>

1 - Download the maps to your computer;
2 - Connect the GPS device to your computer. Keep your GPS in the main menu (do not start ndrive software);
3 - Open the map you have downloaded <by double clicking the .exe on your computer whilst activesync is connected> and then the installer will recognize your equipment. Ensure the \Storage Card option is selected and then click on the install button;
4 - Wait until the map is transfered to your equipment. After that you can disconnect the USB cable from your computer. Perform this steps to every map you have transfered.

I've complained at NDrive support regarding the below-standard installation and update procedures. During map installation it may happen that not all maps are copied to the card, then you have to find the temporary zip file and extract it yourself - very user-unfriendly. The Update Agent looks nice but you have to connect your phone to the PC when downloading the updates (very slow servers) and during installation (which may even be stuck at some point). Personally, I can't affort connecting my phone to the PC during several hours.

The reply I've got after insisting was that my message would be forwarded to the development team. We'll see ... :rolleyes:

Meanwhile I won't perform any updates, I'm very happy with NDrive as a navigational software. Hopefully, the rest will be fixed very soon ... ;)

Nope, reverted to older version.

I don't understand this company, they solved that on older version (when i bought my hd ndrive didnt work in landscape), launch a new version and have the same problem.
I'm glad a didn't pay the upgrade, the other day they send a email to upgrade, and i told them that V9 don't work in landscape, never got any answer.

I try to instal Ndrive v9.3.12 on my HTC HD, but after first installation, and before maps activation, the program launch in a little screen on the upper left corner! I soft restet, and now, impossible to launch HTC sense !!!!!
I'm on Energy ROM.

Font icons to small
after install Rom dutty v2.2 or l26 icons to small in Ndrive related to windows Font and manila who change to normal.... can´t use ndrive with this two Roms any solution ??? the problem maybe the font size dont know ??

Here's my 1 year experience with the NDrive package. While the software is great, there are a few significant drawbacks to the support features:

- the initial download / update service requires you to download all the language files, there is no possibility to customize ;
- the download speed is super ridiculous, thus it takes ages to download the updates - I have a decent broadband connection (4 Mbit) and 300megs is usually only a matter of minutes, in case of Ndrive it takes literally a few hours (i.e. for 300 megs), they should invest more into bandwidth. I've tried downloading at different times (night, afternoon, morning), that doesn't have any impact at all (even though their support states sth else, see here below) ;
- while downloading you absolutely HAVE to have your phone connected to the computer via active sync, you unplug it, the downloading immediately stops and you can start from scratch again (it does not remember what it's download before) ;
- there may be errors when installing the downloads, in that case, the installer will already have deleted the relevant downloaded file in the temp directory, great, you can now start from scratch again. I recommend downloading and backing up the downloads in another directory, unzip the whole thing and then manually install - that's more reliable.

BTW all the above of course applies to the very first download of the software and the maps (not to mention the time THOSE take to download). Last year in autumn, I sent a mail to NDrive Support telling them about all this, well here's the response:

Good afternoon, we are aware of the situation of the NDrive installer. We are doing our best efforts in order for it to be fully compatible with most of PDA equipments manufactured recently.
Due to the massive quantity of users updating their devices, there is a need to distribute our bandwith through all costumers in an equal way. In peak times, you might experience some slowdown regarding the updates. We are constantly doing our best to improve the speed and reliability of our NDrive Update Agent, so we advise you keep updating to the latest version.

Nothing has improved in this area so far. So, if you plan on updating your maps and/or software regularly, I'd strongly advise against NDrive, unless you are living in Portugal where the software makes at least use of many extra-nice features (traffic, signs, etc.).

Overall, the software is really good and fast and the maps are of decent quality - luckily they use Teleatlas for Europe. But you can happily forget about ALL the rest, that is only if you've endured the initial download.

They seem to serve Portuguese IP address users differently then I guess. Maybe other users here can share their experience. It's the kind of things you want to know before you buy a given product. I have absolutely no download speed concerns with most other downloadable contents, NDrive is pretty unique in their slowness, as far as I've experienced.

Now, I have to say that if I lived in Portugal, the whole package would be more attractive but given the fact that the price is the same for all, it looks as if the users outside of Portugal were co-financing the features available in Portugal...

I wonder, are the software updates (v9->v10) free or does Ndrive also require you to buy the payable map update at 35 EUR (e.g. Western Europe maps update price) ?

Last time I updated the software in Sep/Oct, the only way to get the update was that way, or have I missed a trick ? Ndrive releases a new software version approx. every 6 months, so you might easily pay 70 EUR each year (in case of WE maps) ...

They both have the same problem, don't work in landscape. I don't say its more complete, v10 its more complete, but less user friendly.
There was a update during the V9 updates that work in landscape, but after some updates never worked again.
