Step by step upgrade 6828 ROM via SD Card
1. Extract and copy diskimg.nb0 and cabs folder into a SD card (FAT32 and Blank SD Card are recommended)
2. Press and hold 2 soft key( - ) and reset, Boot loader will show up.
3. Wait abut 10 ~ 20 Minutes
4. Align Screen, adjust time and date
5. Restart your 68xx

info :Atom Exec WM 6.1 CE OS 5.2.19949 (Touchy) Rom Modded for HP rw6815 at this rom camera works correct with old hp camera application..maybe better to use that soft for camera patch (maybe in extented rom)

Hi Ariey , the rom is very cute... ;) The activesync problem is the IP number(the pc don't associate IP to PDA)..some trd party don't work(expecialli for SIP)..I don't think are great problems..:D

Hello world (especially to Ariey [if you are like in avatar you are simply wonderful] and to italian users)!
First consideration on wm 6.5 BETA hp 6815:
FUNCTIONS NOT WORKING:
1 - active sync (mentioned by Ariey);
2 - bluetooth (mentioned by Ariey):
3 - camera (BUT WITH PATCH OF WM 6.1 ROM Ultimate 2009 Edition, IT WORKS!!);
4 - wireless manager does not open (but with other programs, WI FI IS OK;
5 - ram max 29 Mb (without memory card);
6 - ...
However (superficially) I do not see many differences compared to wm 6 / 6.1 (except for menù aspect!)!

Wait for other.....

Hi Ariey ,I can't change any keyboard for use my language(thai). Bluetooth not work.
Active Sync maybe not work. Blacklight can't set. as much as , try come to meet a problem only.

Some problems:

Lock screen doesn't work, my mobile hangs itself when locking, fix: "For the LOCK change to windows clasic methods under setting - lock, it's work." thanks to dedypmi

if you click on the operator icon in the taskbar and click "wireless manager" it gives an error. There is a wrlsmgr in the windows directory, however i cannot copy or rename it becuase it is in the ROM., Fix: in registry set key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\ControlPanel\\WrlsMgr\\Redirec t = \Windows\WrlsMgr.exe
Active Sync doesn't work, Fix: Install SK Tools, in Notification queue click action -> "Recreate ActiveSync"

It works on my RW6815.

Ive gotten activesync to work, the repllog item in the notifications queue was missing.
i installed sktools lite, went to Notification queue, and added a repllog.exe with the following argument: AppRunAfterRndisFnDetected
and repeat it with this argument: AppRunAtRs232Detect

Some problems:

Lock screen doesn't work, my mobile hangs itself when locking

Well, I'd already update my hp6828 with ariey WM 6.5 Ultimate ROM - Rev 1Arp 2009
1.Active Sync (Windows Mobile Device Center - Vista X64) - OK
2.Can use with ThaiWinCE (WM 5) - OK
3.BT will test and report : Cannot connect
but Ird OK can use with Active Sync.
4.Nice CommManager like HTC - OK
5.PIM Backup - OK
6.FM Radio : Show error -- can not find Window-FM radio but can use - Will OK soon hehehe
7.Nice Windows Media Player Skin
8.Camera OK after patch - OK (Use pds-kack.net hp_rw6815_path)
9.Use HTC Network Wizard to config Internet/MMS connection : OK

and will report another issues soon

I recomended 1.01, because it's more safe and many compatibility than 1.05, you can upgrade both from Mini-SD or PC. for now, i'm using 1.01 and did not found any problem with thats. But if user think 1.05 safe (and we have an experience from andrea_vinci case), it's ok upgrade using 1.05 :D

i'm flash with wm6.5, basically wifi, bluetooth both cannot connect. some other software actually not necessary...such as i-contact, set volume, ...etc
some more the program memory workable around 17mb and graduately reduce after sometime of usage....em drop to around 12mb...

waiting for new release.

First, thanks for the great ROMs. I was a big fan of your 6.1 releases, and this new 6.5 beta holds promise too.

On the new ROM, I must be missing something obvious here - there seems to be no backlight adjustment (not in power, screen, etc - nothing). What am I doing wrong?

Nice work this ROM but for me to much a Beta version.

Activesync does not work correctly for me.

e-mail gives a problem and files are stored on my storage card...

I want to get back to another ROM but the normal way was not possible via the normal way.

For others who want to get back to another ROM you can do the following:

remove the bettery, press both softkeys [-] and hold them, put back the battery while you still pressing the softkeys, after 20 seconds or so bootloader show up and begin flashing. (if everything is going well the screen looks a bit weird and its a little flikkering but after 10 - 20 minutes your IPAQ is reflashed)

Im looking forward to your next WM6.5 ROM cause WM6.5 is a real step forward after WM6.1

which device you using my dear friend, i tested it on 6828, BT, wi-fi, and Activr sync work properly until this time.

6828....my friend. wifi cannot connect to my router, bluetooth cannot connect to my i-tech headset, activesync ok....

very nice ROM and great feeling of using WM6.5 on my device :)

tried it on my HP rw6815, most of things worked fine, but still some things to fix:

- as was said, no backlight control, also missed some other things in setting but cannot remember...
- sometimes after while Start button stopped working (had to Soft reset)
- new style of highlighted button has gone after theme switch and didn't showed again, when tried to change theme back...
- camera works great after using patch

scrolling ability is great thanks...
but i am back with 6.1 ultimate v2, waiting for next release

:) my dear friend, ultimate release rom is developer edition too. you may redevelop it again and add or remove some nice stuf.
I believe, many chief, many rom, will give many colour for our iPAQ device.
SYS 21198 now available on WWE, for XIP we can use latest beta rom.
new sys with other language may change to wwe using new build OS+ervius package.
for kitchen, we can use such as Garmin, helloworld kitchen, ( i mixed it with new tools).
found a problem? we can try solve it with other member. believe me, i still learn like most of us. thanks for all.

wow ariey if you'll make touchflo 3D working on our device it will be incredible... :cool: however i think it will drain too much ram and it won't work fast (i am giving it 5-7fps but there can be a surprise :D)...

i really like classic WM6.5 today but i don't think its usefull, it was just first impression... (what exactly is titanium today plug - for me it looked just the same as classic WM6.5 today)

BTW: i think it will take me a bit longer to get used with honeycomb after all these years with classic start menu :)

Ariey, if I can advise, you try to free up more ram possible.
Your wm6.5 has got 23 MB free ram (without wm6.5 menù today!). Ipaq is slow!:(

Yesterday, I’m check for jtag cable on Jakarta, and found no one sell it for me. :) it should make by user self. Hope it will work.
Some tips for 6.5 ultimate beta ver :

I am sorry to hear that, I ever read the scheme of 6828's JTAG and tutorial to use it in this Forum, it is simple and you can make it by your self, I am forget in which thread.

My 6828 sold today, I hope there is a new cooker for 6828. More cooker is more better.

Ariey have you tried this? if its only semi bricked...

from upgrading section:
First:
Remove the mini sd card (i don´t know why, it think you should have SD with new image inside)
Remove battery
wait 5 minute minimum
press and hold Soft Keys and Sof Reset
Insert battery, release Soft Reset
release Soft Keys
Device is switch on and entering in Boot Loader.
If the bootloader not running, Making JTAG cable and using my method for repair the dead bootloader.

btw: i was updating with BL 1.05 without problems...

Sorry for not being around for a while.

I just wanted to say a BIG thank you for this superb ROM and hope you have been able to sort your recent device problem.

Its a treat to have the camera working correctly on my 6815 and my TomTom Navigator works superb :eek: and connects without issue to my Bluetooth GPS receiver. Extra HUGE thanks for this :)

I haven't had much time to play around with my Bluetooth hands free kit, but having read all the pages of this thread this a known hicup and will hopefully be able to be fixed soon.

Keep up the great work and many thanks once more !!

Step by step upgrade 6828 ROM via SD Card
1. Extract and copy diskimg.nb0 and cabs folder into a SD card (FAT32 and Blank SD Card are recommended)
2. Press and hold 2 soft key( - ) and reset, Boot loader will show up.
3. Wait abut 10 ~ 20 Minutes
4. Align Screen, adjust time and date
5. Restart your 68xx

Hi Ariey , first , happy Easter...!!:D Great rom , this is my report:
you are nearly to release candidate , but:

1 - BT don't work
2 - titanizer go brick when modifing settings
3 - some problem with thirdparty application , like wisbar
4 - task manager settings don't go.

For the rest , the rom is very very fast!!:D Nice menu and file explorer , titan go properly , windows media too.

Suggest : is maybe possible insert a plugin in titan for preferite application? Reinsert the BattiBar (is very cool)..and finally , maybe Manila..:D??!!

really great ROM, huge step forward from last ROM... :):)

i like new today plug-in... it would gr8 if there was an app which could switch between regular today and new WM6.5 today - like it is for manila...

so will there be any fix for BT? could it be only cab or some way which wouldn´t require reflash?

1.AS works great
2.Camera working after instaling SDKcerts.cab and then camera patch (6815)
3.brightness adjusting works great (check if you are on battery or AC power when changing backlight level ;) )

Very nice rom with wonderful feture :
1.Autoconfig very good, helpful to set and connect to my operator network.
2.Nice filel explorer with many feture eg resco explorer.
3.In Comm Manager cannot enable Wi-Fi to connect,but can connect via setting>connetions>wi-fi (icon to connect) - OK
4.Cannot use calculator again.

BTW :
1.I like your ariey battery icon but not in this rom.
2.Very nice game more than old rom

Did anyone notice in the previous build, the backlight settings were all screwed. The brightness sliders were missing / unresponsive and the drop down for the minutes / brightness were blank.
Any chance of including opera in the next build ?

Hi Ariey , the roms works great!!:D compliments..but I've notice a strange bugs : the ring is always in ring/vibrate mode , why??:confused: its noising..

Two little bugs
1 - calculator don't work (Quote:"cannot load the skin file:\windows\spbcalc_p.gif")
2 - The TGA skin for windows media player don't appear

Hi Ariey, I did try, after bootloader show up and wait about 5 min. it restart and not update even. It start with existing ROM version.

I have the same problem when using 1GB mini sdcard. I tried with my other 2GB card and it works fine.

you must be aware that not all SD card allow this flash :) I only manage to flash my rw6815 with old 512 MB microSD card from my Nokia phone ;) and all other microSD - 1 GB PQI, 1 miniSD and 1 microSD both 2 GB Kingston cards failed previous attemps :( with no error - they simple didn't load any thing..

- Calculator bug fixed (I miss change shortcut before :D )
- New Omnia interface looks like (you can choose titanium or omnia)

- For battery indicator which one best for our iPAQ?
1. Battery bar on top the screen > more battery consumption
2. Ariel Battery > Bat + Percentage but, some time overwrite title of Apps
3. Quickmenu Battery > Battery percentage in right corner screen

Hi everyone is urgent i need help here. After i flash with the 21500 rom that i download from here and after it finish flash my phone screen just white colour. I have wait for so long so i decided to restart it but then after i restart it my phone dead no power at all. Now after i been try to keep my phone for a day to on it still not working and i did remove the battery for a day and still same. So i just want to know what happen and what should it do or is that my phone got the hardware problem. By the way my phone is 6828. Thanks.

It's surprising though. Are there lots of components not working right? Considering it's a totally different system, wouldn't it be hard to get the radios, camera, buttons, etc all stable...?

Maybe there is problem with this ROM. I'm currently using old WM 6.1 rom not this one...Do you setup your GSM provider's MMS connections GPRS right ?

In Network Wizard, Don't use Maxis 3G. It works after I chose Maxis only.

its ok thanks i found a way to flash it via usb with no problems.. ilove this build very nice job much faster and way more cool and usefull apps then others. and really good performance, that gave me a shock too lol. Very well done and it looks good.

ok i had problems with bluetooth on other roms. gonna test it now :D

p.s: if anybody wanna know how flash it via pc just quote me here thanks. i would love to help.

wifi, camera, speaker not work yet
but GSM, file manager, Picture viewer work properly :D

oh friend your the best !... actually bluetooth worked but only in resco file explorer. The official beam option on wm6.5 didnt work . actually have been happening to all the roms.
i will be your bestfriend forever if u can fix this. Again amazing work i love this rom :)
e.g. beam from Multimedia > Pictures & Videos.

Basically anything thats bring u to the official beam menu in wm6.5 u cant see any devices . i tried only wm5 and wm6.1 works :( .

update: tried infra red beam not working. It works only in resco explorer not in official windows explorer. :)

I saw the Android thread, here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=479624) and was going to mess with it but decided the smart people with cooking experience (i.e, you) had a better chance of figuring it out.

It looks like a great system.

i so want to try this but cant!

i had BL 1.05, but still tried WM6.5 but the boot loader would just stay at the same screen for 10mins the reset, old rom would load then.

I going to down graded to BL 1.01 as found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=360664

Fantastic job you have done with this rom.

The only problem I have with it is Bluetooth. A2DP Stereo doesn't work. This may be why another users BT car kit doesn't work.
But I think this is common with the WM6.5 roms for 68xx as NHOCBANME's and maurin3do's roms have same issue.
Maybe you could check with helloworld1 what he did as his earlier build "Based on XIP and SYS 21202" works fine. I think may have used modules from 6.1.

Thanks Knave and rcperez for posting their detailed experience so I can write this section. Also thanks jimmyspa for improving the addheader's performance greatly.
1. Check your Boat loader version
(do a soft reset, and check the value printed at the bottom during the HP logo screen)
2. If you noticed that the last line states BL 1.00.05, it means you have boat loader 1.05 installed. You will need to download and flash your phone back to 1.01 via ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp34001-34500/sp34053.exe (VERY DANGEROUS, FLASHING VIA SD IS MUCH SAFER!)
3. After successfully downgraded your phone's boatloader, or your version was already v1.01, you can proceed to flash your phone to the rom.

With the check done, proceed with the required files.
1. Go to download section to download the rom file. -- The rom that you downloaded, e.g (diskimg.nbo)
2. Download the file pcupdate.zip attached in this thread and unzip the contents to the same folder you used in step 1.
3. Download the latest Rom file and extract to the same folder
4. Run BuffereAddHeader.bat. It will take seconds to generate a diskimage_Ver.nb0. (You should have Java Runtime > 1.50 installed, http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp)
5. Move your phone to boatloader mode ( press the two - keys, follow by a poke at the soft reset hole with your stylus )
6. Connect the phone to the PC
7. Execute the Device Utility Update program and wait till it verifies the state. Click on Update Item "All" use cursor keys to change it to "OS ONLY" then hit next **** SELECT "OS ONLY", if you cant change it to "OS ONLY" DONT PROCEED!!! It should detect your device as Model 0 etc.
8. Press Next to begin flashing.
9. Once completed, the phone will reset by itself. Wait for a while for it to startup.

REMEMBER SELECT OS ONLY BY PRESSING DOWN IN THE SELECTION BOX

Here are the notes & files provided by hochengsoon with README for flashing via Windows XP
PC flashing using BL1.0.1 must be done from C:\Windows\Temp, so why not start everthing from this folder ie PCUpdate + ROM + missing file(s).

How to downgrade to WM5 using PC
1. download wm5 rom from http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...pappid=NextGen

4. Connect device to PC, then press and hold two "-" button and reset.
5. Run hpRUU.exe and do a normal update.
Note: you may delete eboot*.nbf to prevent bricking the device.

Thanks Ariey for the great rom!
I thought that wm 6.5 rom will solve the missing wpa2 encryption, but it doesn't.

I've found a simple dll for HTC devices, but doesn't work on my rw6815. I read about Odyssey client software everywhere, but it doesn't work too.
When I turn on the odyssey client, my wireless adapter turn off and I can't switch on again while the odyssey client working.

Does anybody know a simple solution for wpa2 encryption problem?

There is some reason behind ROM not flash, this was happend to me too.

Fully agree :) with my both kingston 2 GB SD cards - no luck flashing ;) but with 512 MB nokia SD card flawlless flashing.

Hi,Ariey,THX for your fantastic rom.I flashed it today and it runs pretty fast on my phone.However,I found a problem on bluetooth that I believe some one have mentioned before,it totally can not make a connection with my handfree and bluetooth speaker,but it still can connect my PC via BT.I am confused,is that WM6's problem?is there any way to work around or can you fix it?

My Ipaq still not yet can connect internet with hotspot wifi in Surabaya but on searching ok no problem, mean all hotspot now have used WPA2, while Ipaq still of WPA. How to overcome it so that my Ipaq can connect internet with hotspot using WPA2. And i use WM 6.1

Thanks for this beautiful release. This is the best one I've ever used, except bluetooth.

I can connect bt headsets allright. But I can't use them on handsfree. I selected the handsfree option on bluetooth device's settings and I neither see the handsfree icon on the dialer nor be able to select "turn handsfree on" on the right softmenu.

I tried this on two headsets (Plantronics Pulsar 590A & Jawbone 2) none of them works.

Hi Ariey,
I think I get a similar problem at a few previous post.
When I write sms and then typing in "To:" box, when I select someone from contact list (instead of writing number) , the pda is freezing, so I reset. This is always happening.

The same thing is happening when I write e-mail, in the "To:" box again, I wrote a few characters of an email address and it is suggesting some email addresses from contact list. When I select one of them, it freezes again, I reset again. :(

Can you fix this problem?

In HP 6815
I made a hard reset. (So there is no other programs installed.).
It automatically installed 6_SdkCerts.cab and then 5_hp_rw6815_camera_patch_wwe.cab
And then a soft reset.
After opening I installed my contact list with PIM Backup program in Phone Tools.
In "To:" box in SMS window, there is no problem :). This is good.
I configured my gmail account.
I select to write new email, when I write an email address which is in my contact list it freezes.
And when I write a few words of an email, when it suggests some email then I click one of them, it freezes again. :(

Now I will try the other rom "ARIEY IPAQ WM6.5 SPECIAL EDITION.zip"
I will write here the result.

1. Download CE-star setup package from his site and then extract "sunglobe.ttf" inside
2. Copy sunglobe.ttf to your WM6 "\Windows" directory
3. In your WM6 registry, under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\
add a new key call FontLink.
Then, under this newly added FontLink key add another key call
SystemLink.
Example, you should now have the following in your registry

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\FontLink\Sys temLink

Create four String registry entry under key:
* "Times New Roman"="\Windows\sunglobe.ttf,UniSun"
* "Arial"="\Windows\sunglobe.ttf,UniSun"
* "Courier New"="\Windows\sunglobe.ttf,UniSun"
* "Tahoma"="\Windows\sunglobe.ttf,UniSun"
4. Now is final step, reset your PPC. However don't do this immediately, because for some reason, WM6 MAY NOT write your registry changes to database immediately. In my case, I will try to change the Ringtone sound and play a while to give time my PPC save the changes
5. After reset, you should able watch chinese text on rock stable english platform.
6. If you need chinese input, you can download any chinese IME from
Internet, e.g. Monster Chinese or CE-Star2.8R3c (Not SUPPORT
WM 6.5!!! makes my Device HANG n Hard Reset needed!!!)

Hi to all,

The rom works fine in my iPAQ 6815... except for...:
* Bluetooth... :( I think is a common thing in most WM 6.5 ROMs for my iPAQ 6815... :(

1) I just can connect 2 devices... just after connecting the 2nd one... the option to continue adding/editing/removing devices dissappears and I only see "Connected". I think this problem has been discussed somewhere, and is due to an old bluetooth driver. Any news ?? :confused:
2) The Hands-Free option doesn't work... no matter how I create the device, my Plantronics Discovery 650, connects ok, but after, when I do a call, the "Activate Hands-Free" option is always disabled... Any clue?? :confused:

* Camera doesn't works: Unfortunatelly, after installing the 2 cabs for 6815... camera still doesn't works ("SdkCerts.cab" and "pda-hack.net_hp_rw6815_camera_patch_wwe.zip")

Anyway, thanks for your help and hard work

im new here, i tried your rom along with other roms, like 6.1 from NHOCBANME
ver 2.01b beta1 .

both roms work well, but the camera is not working.
i've tested both of them, no working camera.
i tried the cab and fix files for camera, nothing work.

btw my ipaq is rw6815.

I can't find a rom with working camera, still looking for one.

I am using 6818 with your WM6.5 ultimate final in it. It is awesome, fast and battery saver!!

But right I am experiencing a trouble that I cannot run 2 or more programs at once. Multitask does not work well.
The first program is automatically shutted down when I open new program.

Please help about this. :confused:

i have do the step
-Download the ROM miniSD card version (Download (via miniSD card)) from the top of this topic.
-Connect miniSD card with your PC via CardReader.
-Extract ROM to the root folder of miniSD (name must be : diskimg.nb0, size : 64,000 KB)
-Insert miniSD card to your device.
-Change battery full.
-Go to bootloader : Press both soft key (two "-" keys) and softreset (stylus), i'll apear HP bootloader sceen.
-Wait 15 -> 20 mins. I'll auto hardreset.
( it dont work now after hp bootloader sceen)
