I was wondering if there was a text to speech module that reads out loud the name of the caller when the phone rings. I've a friend who has a symbian phone that does it, and I find the feature pretty cool.

Sorry if this has been adressed elsewhere on the forum, but a forum search didn't turn up anything.

There are alot of ROMs that have this feature cooked into it. Honesty it is a really great idea but it gets annoying after awhile. I had it on a couple of the ROMs that I was using and after a couple weeks it gets annoying. Also there is no way to turn it off. I now look for ROMs that specifically do not have this feature. Just my 2 cents.

I think Microsoft Voice Command has a built in option that will announce incoming calls.

Yes MSVC [Link Removed] can do this..

MOD Edit: Microsoft Voice Command is commercial software, and cannot be distributed in CAB form.

As stated earlier, Microsoft Voice Command supports announcing the incoming caller by name (if in Contacts) or number (if not).

MSVC is commercial software that retails for $30USD. However, since several variants of the Kaiser shipped with MSVC pre-installed, you can flash a cooked ROM that includes it, and would not have to purchase a license separately.

Any posts linking to a CAB installer will be edited, and only 1 warning will be given before a short ban is handed out.

My appologies.

Some Kaisers are shipped with Cyberion Voice Commander. I guess similar function available (never tried though).

I currently enjoying the MSVC and it's quite fun. You can even ask 'what is my battery status' and it'll reply with the status ;)

Thanks for all the replies guys.

I was hoping to find some freeware that does it because I think paying 30$ just to have the name of the caller read to me is pretty steep a price to pay :) I'm not veru interested in the rest of what MSVC has to offer. Oh well!

I have upgraded, went to settings for MSVC, but am still having no luck.
Whats the deal? How do you "ask" it a question?
