View Full Version : New ROM for Atom Exec with a cracked screen

OK, so I have an Atom exec and I tried to install a new ROM on it.

The process was going along quite well until the thing booted up for the first time and I had to 'align' the screen.

The problem is my old Atom Exec has a horizontal crack about two thirds down the screen and while this does make it hard to type on using the stylus the thing as a whole still works and I was hoping to use it as an alarm clock (OK, a stupidly overpowered alarm clock with wi-fi, bluetooth and a touch screen).

Does anyone know of a ROM that won't need me to align the screen?

Willing to try pretty much anything as at the moment is might as well be shiny paperweight.

U should search first. Now don't tell me that I am pissing u of as the same thing is avail on these forums somewhere, I have seen it.
OK U search for "MSP Remote Alignment" on the net and download the prog and it will automatically do the alignment for u. That is all I know rest u do and also explain here for others for future reference please.

OK, so the assumption that I haven't searched for this is a little rash. I have. I even found that program you are recommending (sure, I may have found it after my original post but I found it none the less) the problem is that as far as I can tell it can bypass the screen alignment but then I am left with a touchscreen that is totally useless..... any touch results in a 'top left' response.

Yes, this program will (accoring to it) inject the screen alignment information into the phone but as far as I can tell all it does is fire up the screen alignment program again.

Also you may have noticed that this program requires a soft reset of the phone and th epopular ROMs I have seen here require the installation process to go from start to finish without a reset.

So I was asking if anyone had had a similar problem before and could recommend a way for me to proceed.

Thanks

(and tjkhattak61, while it may not soundlike it I really appreciate your reply)

I tried it with a hard reset and after the calibration and soft reset I started of with the normal customization and every thing went well. Hope u satisfied now and sorry if u felt that I am harsh, meeeeee and harsh no way.

ok, so I have hit a small problem.

The WM 6.5 rom installs fine (thanks!) but I still cannot align my screen and I have managed to lock the screen. The slider to unlock it will not work and I can't even update the ROM to start from scratch.

Any suggestions?

Also my experience with the MSP remote alignment is the same, the part where it skips the alignemnt works a treat but I cannot get it to align the screen for me.

I have read that there are applications out there that will let me remotely control the phone but so far I cannot find one that works (or that I am able to get to work)

Help much appreciated.

Thanks

OK can u try by pressing hard button for the windows key and going to settings and then with the help of the hard keys going to the System and then go for Screen. I did it once and I never used the Stylus please try it u may get to carry out the alignment.

Not all is going according to plan, I might just give up and invest in a new touchscreen (not that they are expensive).

I managed to get 6.1 back on it but functionality is low with out some semblance of touchscreen usage.

Oh well,

Thanks for all your help.
