I know this site is designed for recomendations and freeware, but I stumbled over a program called "walkinghotspot". It allows you to use a good number of smartphones, and other phones with wifi capability, to be used as a wifi hot-spot. It uses your cellphone carriers data connectivity(internet) and feeds it wirelessly to up to 5 laptops, phones, or other wifi enabled devices at the same time! I do recomend that you have an unlimited data plan (as I have with Sprint) or something comparable due to using your cellphone providers data connection. It is not a freeware application, but definately worth everypenny if you own a laptop, or even have a wirless card for your desktop pc. My wife is able to surf the net while we are on the road, and I am able to just pull over anywhere that I have cell service(which with Sprint in Kansas is most any highway), and shoot quick emails or take care of any other business. I paid a onetime fee of 24.99, for a lifetime subsription. They also are offering a 30 day trial for just 6.99. Again, I know that it's not freeware, but I thought it was definately worth sharing! If nothing else, check it out!

So, my question is this: Is the text/message/data plan from sprint good enough for this or do you need the phone as a modem plan?
